Restaurantji's Vallejo guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“I was just passing through Vallejo and stopped here because it had good reviews. The reviews were spot on. I had their shrimp and fish tacos and a shredded beef burrito. Everything was so good. I will absolutely be finding an excuse to pass through and stop there again.“
“Taking time to say goodbye to a classic. Chevys is closing at least two more local locations in my area, so won't have the opportunity dine here anymore. We had to have one last meal at this fun chain restaurant. We both had plates of their delicious fajitas. One steak and chicken, one carnitas and pork belly. The chips and salsa have always been so good and we added a small bowl of the creamy guac to top it off.And of course a margarita had to accompany the meal... ?Will miss this place.“
“Delicious food! We were on vacation and stopped here. The food was amazing. The options were endless. My 5 year old made us take her back for breakfast the next day . We will totally eat here anytime we are near. The only sad thing was we don't have one of these or even close in my home town.“
“Picked up a 37 FL Knucklehead motor from Mrs. Tillgather up on the top of Florida street for a hundred bucks, her late husband converted it into a compressor to run his air tools. As soon as I had it loaded up she asked me if I wanted the motorcycle it came from...she said you can have it cause it doesn't have a motor no more!I celebrated at Tacos Jalisco because they're the best in Vallejo!5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆“
“I was craving crispy tacos the other day and I thought I'd try La Estrella. I got the food home and I was a little underwhelmed because the taco shells looked so uniformed and pre-made I didn't expect much. I've similar looking tacos from other restaurants that were not very good. After the first bite I knew I was wrong. They were light, crispy, and crunchy and the al pastor was amazing! The tacos held up bite after bite and didn't fall apart. It was exactly what I wanted and the side of beans were so good. I plan on getting lunch here later today.“
“I go here when I want to get a quick solid burrito; I get steak or veggie, it all depends on how I am feeling. They are consistent when it comes to the food as well as service. It is a family-owned establishment so the staff is polite and very accommodating with special requests. While I'm in the V, Elvia's will continue to be my go-to spot. Keep up the great work you all.“
“Turkey no melt. It was so delicious! The bread was toasted to perfection, crunch in every bite with the taste of melted butter. Thick slices of seasoned turkey and fresh avocado. The fries were just as tasty. Hot and crispy. Fast and polite service. I have to come back now for their breakfast.“
“So gentle the lady taking the order at the lunch truck she look higine and courteously, good experience for my first time here, they are on the side of the gas station they have benches you can eat there, but benches do not have shade, so, it's better to eat in the car. I ordered two tacos of pork skin ("Tacos de chicharron) wow, amaze me with the flavor the pork skin crunchy and that fried flavor that taste good once you eat it, you feel the tons of flavor with salsa on the top of the tacos and grilled onion and grilled jalapeño salsa spicy a bit but makes real flavor to the taco, and raw onion and cilantro, definitely ill come back for sure, pricey sure, but how they serve de tacos ? it's work it.Parking: There're plenty of parking they are on the side of a gas station easy accses to park .“
“I opted for dinner at Epale and quickly returned to enjoy their delicious enchiladas, which are perfectly complemented by a spoonful of rice and refried beans. It's truly a delightful culinary experience. Don't miss out on these enchiladas! All this food for 15 dollars!“
“This place is great. Personally, I like my cooking, I find it hard to go out for enchiladas in particular. I tried theirs with red sauce and are excellent. I ordered extra sauce on the side. Pricing is good, quality us good. I love the remodeled patio. Try it yourselves. I do not think you will be sorry.“
“A+!! Perfect burrito, lovingly prepared by wonderful people, with perfect proportions of fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, and huge portions! Go out of your way for this!Vegetarian options: Veggie Burrito - beans, cheese, crema, lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro“
“Food was delicious and super authentic. I had the Plato típico with pupusas and plátanos. The horchata was also on point. Service was great, the woman behind the counter/in kitchen does it all! Super attentive and kind. Food took a little long but worth the wait! The dine in area is small and mixed with random things they sell, from shampoos to ES jerseys. Very mom and pop spot, feels a bit more set up for to go orders.“
“Stopped to get something to take home for my husban for dinner. The owner was amazing she fixed his to go dish so it would be ready to get warmed up when I got home. He loved his enchiladas. I got a Super Shrimp Quesadilla and I will have to say I have never tasted one soooo good. Everyone is so friendly and helpfull. I will definately be going back.“
“When in town visiting family, Tacos Mexico is a must! I have to go at least once! I love the burritos at this taco truck spot and have been coming here for years! I usually order their Super Burritos which are filled with whatever meat you want with rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, onions, and cilantro. With your burrito, they also give you a side of tortilla chips. Their burritos are large in size. My go-to meats in my burritos are usually carne asada or carnitas. The meats are usually flavored well with their seasonings and everything in the burrito just goes well with each other. The burritos are large enough that I can have it as two meals.Tacos Mexico is located near the Grocery Outlet, which used to be the old Yard Birds lot. There are always plenty of people but they work quickly! Make sure you have cash as they only take cash. No cards!“
“Honestly the best Hispanic food in the bay area! I am from socal. And have been looking for a place just like this since I moved here a few years ago. Now me and my wife call this place "our spo"! I tell everyone to come to this spot. It is the best food you could everhope for. Atleast for me and my wife! We have been here so many time and not once has it been a bad experience. Basically if you want Authentic hispanic food. In the bay area. This is the spot.!!!! ??“
“You guys are sleeping on the chicharron burrito. It will change your life, forever. You will never want to get it at any other place. Its not dry and dehydrated. But juicy and crunchy. I like mine extra fat girl style with extra sour cream, lol.“
“We went there while going to Napa with little detour. It is a very specious and well maintained restaurant. The menu itself looks fancy and colorful. They have bar at the center of the restaurant with amazing cocktails. The food was also good and tasty. The portions are not huge but you will feel full very quickly.Few options for vegetarian. Also huge parking lot available.“
“The food was good. Be sure to make sure you specify what you want on your plate. And confirm. The handful of times I've visited, I get sides not depicted in the photos. Somehow I ended up with rice in a breakfast burrito. And it was 90% rice.“
“Great taste, big portions. Wish they accepted credit card payments (Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, so many choices but none accepted?). Working out of a food truck, so some nearby benches can work if you want to dine at the location. Not so great if it is a cold rainy day though.“
“Decor is creative, sophisticated design sense but on a right budget. Service is rustic, the owner waited on us. Very wasn't but not a polished pro. Food was very good, I had a burrito and my wife had the tacos. Both were excellent. The beans were really tasty. They serve organic local honey with the tea, a nice touch.“
“I really liked the food, very delicious. Good portions. I read some comments saying that it took a long time but because it was fresh food I didn't feel like it took too long, and they also give you chips while you wait for your food.Very friendly and the place is clean.“
“I've stayed in the Mission SF and a regular at taco trucks all over San Jose and Oakland.. Stopping by today I got the Birrira tacos with the dipping sauce and lengua tacos. BANGERS, everything was flavorful, moist, and not too salty. I didn't know they came with limes, rabanos, and jalapeños already. So I asked for some, without hesitation they hooked it up extra. I'm definitely coming back next time and tipping for the extra love. It's rare to come across restaurants with this level of quality food. They got beers and micheladas with plenty of spaces to sit. But I got all that at home. I'm trying the burritos next.“
“Best papusas and pasole! My family and I order from here at least twice a month. Their pork and cheese papusas are the best in the area! They are remodeling one of the rooms, but once it's done, I bet it will be amazing to eat there. The prices aren't too bad, and their Salvadoran horchata is amazing!!! Try this the next time you are thinking of somewhere to eat!“
“Everybody has their own taco truck. This is mine. I have the steak fries today instead of my usual steak burrito with no beans. But I love different options and also shrimp. The prices are very decent. But FYI; they only accept cash. The bar near them have an ATM.“
“I'm usually very careful about trying new mobile food trucks. I don't just go to ANY truck, just because "it's there." And, as the old saying goes...you know it's a good taco truck if you see a bunch of people (actually Mexicans) in line out front. Never saw too many peeps here, so I'd passed over it several times. But, decided to give 'em a shot while having tire work done next door. Never tried their restaurant down the road either. Order this 1st time: 2 tacos, 1 chicken, 1 asada. Figured if I didn't like 'em, it wouldn't be much of a gamble? However, I was more than satisfied. The tacos are price-pointed at $3 here (as opposed to several trucks where sub-$3 bites can still be found), but the meats used are noticeably better quality than those used at the cheaper trucks. And are slightly larger than those typical 2-3 bite tacos. The free chips included in your bag aren't anything special (hard, cold n' greasy), but I don't typically rate a truck on their free chips. Looking forward to returning to try other items like their burritos, etc. on return visits. First try was a winner.“
“I wanted to try a different Salvadorean restaurant, loved the name, and did a field trip here for their pupusas. The gentleman serving was really nice, bilingual, of course, and the pupusas came out fast. The curtido was good, but I was really taken back by the greenery surrounding the front of the property. It's a great spot for dates, hangouts, or casual lunch. Don't sleep on the empanadas. ??☕️ Vegetarian options: YesDietary restrictions: Some customizationParking: BacklotKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes, seats are removable“
“The only best yellow Burrito and taco truck??I will drive all the way out of town to Vallejo to come get!! And the Steak burrito plus, steak tacos is my choice on the menu...trust me, they??DO use the real expensive STEAK MEAT?forever to taste besides the other FAKE STEAK Meat? burrito trucks have. Two thumbs up!!????“
“Good prices & fresh pan dulce. I am heartbroken about your recent break-in. And that it was so much damage for only $50 gain that the thieves made off with. Please understand I know you've been in business for a long time if I recall something around 20 years. But please understand the wealth Gap where we live has grown to an unbearable level. The Gini Index for the United States may be 0.415 - 0.425, but the Gini Index for California is 0.49, which makes it have a wealth Gap similar to Mexico, Guatemala, or Columbia. The wealth gap for San Francisco county is worse still: it stands in 2022 at 0.520- that is on par with Brazil, Belize, Kenya and Honduras. So expect the same types of mob crime and senseless crime for small amounts of money to begin happening here. 15 years ago, 20 years ago when you opened your business this was not the case at all. Gini Indices of these places; California and San Francisco County 15 years ago were 5 points lower!!! So please understand there is a desperation among the lower economic classes here that is similar to the desperation you see in Brazil. It is going to get worse unless they fix it so brace yourselves and prepare. You need to put bars on your windows or get a roll down door so they do not have access to your business. If you get a roll down door get the really good kind that they have in Brazil. We would hate to see this happen to you again.“
“Just dropped off Tam Boreenman off at The Happy Ending House of Asian Flavors there on Tennessee street, he asked if I could pick him up in 10 minutes....10 minutes! I told him he can just walk over to the La Pinata Taqueria, where I'll be enjoying some Tacos de Canasta, they're the best in Vallejo! Especially the potato and the frejoli tacos. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆“
