I wanted a quick bite before a business meeting, and he offered several options that really hit the spot, and was tailored to my personal taste palette. “The quality of the food is top notch. The facility has a cool vibe to it with the high ceilings, open kitchen, and large bar. Iirc, the wine racks are a throwback to the original FSE. Our waitress Nei (sp?) really knew the menu and made great recommendations on pairings of food. The seating area is rather open and can be noisy. The portions are appropriate for your meal, and there were no leftovers at our table. Prices are on par with other restaurants of this caliber. Plenty of free parking right behind the restaurant. We will be back. 💯“

“Connors has been a longtime favorite of ours. Over the years, we have had several good meals here, with service that often went above and beyond. I know how hard restaurant work is, and I’ve always appreciated the care the staff put in. But our most recent experience left us disappointed. The service was unexpectedly inattentive. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, but our server never returned to refill our glasses. A French fry order was forgotten, and when we asked about it, things seemed to unravel. The server was visibly exasperated. A supervisor eventually stepped in, handled things professionally, and assigned a new server—but by then the mood had shifted. This wasn’t just any lunch—it was a farewell meal with a dear friend leaving town, and I’d hoped for a flawless experience. At over $230, I expected more attentive service. I don’t share this lightly. Connors has been a place we’ve enjoyed many times. But this visit left me disappointed, and I won’t be returning anytime soon. There are many excellent Sarasota restaurants where $250 buys not just a good meal, but service that feels genuinely welcoming.“

“First time we have been to the Village Tavern for dinner and it was great. Both of us wanted the prime rib and each ordered the 16oz size. There is not a big price difference between the 12oz and the 16oz so why not get the larger one and take home the leftovers? I ordered the loaded baked potato which was perfectly cooked but very light on the “loaded” part. The sauteed spinach was terrific! The prime rib was delicious but cooked a little more than medium (we had ordered medium to medium rare). Service was great. Atmosphere at night with the fireplace turned on was lovely. A little noisy but the place was absolutely packed so that is not a criticism.“

She was courteous, prompt, and kept our table sparkling clean and our drinks filled at all times. Sydney, the manager was friendly and made us feel like family. “My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town & wanted some catfish. As I was doing my google restaurant search, I came across this place. The reviews are 100% accurate. It is super cozy & homelike upon arriving. I like how small it is as it makes it a more intimate setting. There was parking right by the door as well. There were so many options on the menu, that I didn’t even know what to pick. All sounded so good. I got the crawfish mac & cheese and it was perfectly creamy, cheesy , and delicious. As far as my meal, I got the blackened catfish, shrimp, and sweet potato risotto. The seafood was grilled to perfection along with their sauces making it more flavorful. I also love how it is freshly cooked to order. For the season & dessert, I got the pumpkin stuffed beignets. Sweet but not overly sweet and the whip cream made it better. I can’t wait to come back as the service was great. And the staff was friendly.“

“I can’t fathom how so many people slammed this restaurant in their reviews. We had a great experience. A staff member held the door for us when we arrived. The waitress came to our table within seconds and introduced herself. By the way the restaurant was crowded. Our drinks came immediately along with wonderful bread. We ordered salads and a main course to share. The wedge salad was one of the best I have had anywhere. The 16 oz ribeye to share was cooked perfectly and delivered hot and halved on separate plates. Not the best meat we have had, but very adequate and very reasonably priced. The manager visited our table and asked if everything was to our liking and when we departed he opened the door for us and invited us back. If I had to pick one thing I did not particularly like it was the $8 charge for sharing our main course. Kinda steep.“

“I have ordered delivery a few times. Food is delicious. Cooked perfect. Not overly salty or seasoned like other places. The egg drop soup taste like the authentic restaurant I use to go to as a kid. Very good. Reasonably priced and gracious portions. I have plenty left over for 2 more meals.“

“This place is good if you have a craving for chinese food. I wanted to go somewhere near where I work where there was good Chinese food tjat was not Panda Express. This place hit the spot. I called the restaurant to place my order to go and it was very fast and easy. The lady, who also gave me my order at the restaurant I assume, was very nice and polite. My order was ready when I got there. I ordered egg rolls and the lunch portion of the chicken and rice. I loved the chicken and vegetables, but the fried rice was a little bland but it balanced out when combined with the chicken and vegetables. They also gave a healthy portion for the amount I paid. I gave a 4 out of 5 because of the take out box and the fried rice. It was seeping out from the sides and it was hard to eat without it getting on my scrubs. I was eating in my car by the way. My bill came out to 16.95 + tip. So all in all its a good place to come to if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant with good customer service, fast service and tasty food.“
