“Great option in Athens for large groups. We had a group of 80+ for dinner on a Friday night. We ordered from their catering menu and reserved space with them. The food was great and our group had an amazing time! We will 100% work with them again!“
“The setting of an old house is quaint. Not too stuffy but not too casual either. Parking was a little tight. We were sat right away with our reservation. 6:15 on a Monday, not too busy. The main dining room was a little chilly. We figured they were expecting more customers and it would warm up. Tables are metal legs with wooden tops, chairs were ok and everything was acceptably clean. The hostess was nice, we were given water and menus right away. Menus also included the happy hour specials and a list of bottle wine specials.Happy hour gimlet was good and the local lager was too.The charcuterie board was ok. We stretched it to feed 5. The Sun-choke jelly was ugly but de-li-cious!Our server was personable. We asked questions about the menu and various waitstaff members either could or unfortunately could not answer them. Our impression was that there wasn’t much of a ‘team work’ vibe happening.Beet salad okMushroom soup ok but needed a little kick of somethingThey were out of dumplings! We later found out that a large party of economic conference guests were sat in another room and we figured they were given dibs. We were offered extra sourdough bread which worked out as a good alternative for sopping up the juices. The trout okThe schnitzel was given a 9/10 from everyone who ordered it.We weren’t going to order dessert but because of the “no dumplings” and a late entree, we were comped and we ordered one of each. The lemon cake—needs work, tasted floury and heavyThe chocolate offering— too bitter but…the banana ice cream was amazingThe orange pavlova—-10/10! Best thing we ate—perfect treat. We enjoyed a leisurely very good meal and would recommend this restaurant for adult diners, date night, special occasion, or as a treat. There is outdoor/patio seating.“
“Great ambience, especially for a Sunday afternoon. Seated right away. Food was good but the grits are a very small serving. The omelet was tasty and overall pleasant. Nice brunch or date spot. Go for the setting, moderate price point, and the food is decent.“
“One of the best iced matcha lattes I've ever had. Inside is very aesthetic and a lot of students come to study. Not sure if there is a lot of parking available but I am definitely interested in coming back again. The employees were really polite and knowledgeable.“
“A friend of mine and I ventured over to Buvez in search of an improv show and the show and drinks delivered more than I could ask for.I ordered the expresso martini and it was delicious. The expresso in the drink was tasty and carefully roasted and curated! This was some of the best “coffee” I’ve had in Athens. My friend ordered the hibiscus margarita and spoke highly of it.I also loved the sweet, personalized feel of the service here! I’ll definitely be back to get work done and see/do more improv! I’m very impressed and loved that I was able to get a “townie” experience.Parking: There’s plenty of free uncovered parkingnearby.“
“Took my friend to Catch 22 earlier this week for the first time and Really enjoyed everything from the food to the staff. I can’t believe it was my first time going there as I have only heard Great things and I will definitely be going back soon. Bryan Whitlock“
“My third time here and I’m never disappointed!! Cozy, warm atmosphere both inside or outside. Here on a rainy Friday at 5:30, having a coffee and a delicious gluten-free almond apricot tart in a candle-lit booth while I do some work on my computer.“
“My wife and I chanced upon Jinya on a Sunday afternoon. What a FIND! If ever we are back in the area we will certainly visit again. The atmosphere was immediately pleasant, very tasteful and quite Japanesey. We were seated immediately and the welcome made us feel at home. Service started quickly and we were soon enjoying our drinks and the impressive menu. Our server ('Nara, short for Nayantara) was excellent and very helpful with our selections. The food was ... incredible. I grew up in northern Japan and have seriously missed the fine Japanese cuisine. We sampled some small items like gyoza and crisply chicken wings and an excellent katsu bun. The main event, ramen bowls, was wonderful, exactly like and as delicious as any really good restaurant in Japan. Can't say enough. And they have a nice bar ... their only Japanese beer is Sapporo but Sapporo is a great beer. We fully enjoyed our visit, the atmosphere, the service, and the excellent food items. If you get a chance, don't miss enjoying a Jinya Remen Bar, you won't be disappointed.“
“Breweries are no longer uncommon, especially in lively and nuanced towns like Athens. So, to shine, breweries must have remarkable beer and a unique vibe. With a broad selection of high quality beer, dim lighting, and droning music, Creature Comforts checks all of these boxes. Being from out of town, I stumbled upon this place by asking a random student of UGA which brewery would be considered the ‘can’t miss’ spot in Athens. Without hesitation, he said Creature Comforts. Clearly, the students here have exceptional taste.“
“Great beer in an open friendly setting. The indoor and outdoor areas are dog friendly, kid friendly, all friendly. There appears to be a really cute cat, taking care of things after hours I'm sure! There was a great selection of styles available when we visited and each were very well done: märzen, Irish red, hazy IPA, standard IPA and schwarzbier. The märzen had a lovely spice twist.“
“Admittedly, I was a huge fan of Transmet, so when it went OOB I was disappointed. While I will always miss their pizza... Starland Lounge came through with an awesome alternative and something different and better than all the other bars in Athens. Highly recommend Starland, go check it out!“
“This is hands down one of the best restaurants in town. As we have been eating our way through the menu, we discovered absolutely great dishes. From the Korean Cauliflower to the BBQ rib nachos, American bowl with tempura chicken..and the best tea in town..all superb. All the staff are most friendly and attentive for the entire dining experience.Parking: Epps Bridge Parkway“
“We stopped by Saucehouse BBQ restaurant this afternoon, as first time customers, out of town. We were greeted with the most warm welcome! The food was amazing, the staff was very kind and overall experience just pure joy! Plus, as first time customers the dessert was on the house!! My family had a great experience! Thank you, Saucehouse employees, for making us feel welcomed!“
“We are new to the area and went for the first time for their Wake N Bake off. We had a great time. The beer was awesome, the food the different restaurants came up with was amazing. And the people were so nice and helpful. I am currently in a wheelchair due to a broken ankle and one of the vendors helped me into and out of the ladies room (I couldn't get over the threshold). We bought some beer to take home and will be back soon. We live about an hour and a half away“
“Our favorite restaurant in Athens, by far! Service and food have always been top notch. I love that the owner mingles with the patrons. It is quaint and has a wonderful vibe. We love having a variety of things to try that comes with a tapas menu. The pimento cheese crostini are my favorite, with the okra and sliders a close second - simply delicious. The restaurant has a bar downstairs with a more casual atmosphere. My husband and I would love to eat here more often if parking weren't such a challenge, but that's part of being in such a charming and popular area of town!“
“Jittery Joe's on the East Side helped me get through the Pandemic. I went there every morning and chatted with Paul. It literally helped me stay sane during that time. I still go there pretty much every day and the espresso Paul makes is my favorite I've ever had. It's basically become a part of my routine. I can't recommend this place enough, especially early in the morning. Many thanks.“
“This is truly a hidden treasure of Athens! Unique, delicious, and worthy of recognition. This was my first time here and will be coming back for certain. We had the Dominican Sliders as an appetizer, then I had the Sandwich Especial and my wife had the Churasco. All were full of flavor and our waitress was polite and helpful.“
“Great ice cream and friendly staff but when going through the drive through I was asked if I wanted to leave an additional tip for the staff which was a bit awkward.. I’m all about tipping but I’ve never been asked to tip through a drive through. Made me feel uncomfortable.“
“The beer here is excellent, there is something for everyone's taste. The part I like best is they don't only make IPA's. They have plenty of toasty brown beers (my favorite), and even alcoholic slushes. Even a non-beer drinker can find something for them here. The best part of Athentic, however, is the atmosphere. It's the sort of place where locals bring their dogs. More families than frat bros come here. It's a good place for when you want to hang out but not yell to be heard. The staff is friendly and professional.“
“So it's my new favorite coffee shop. I'm a crazy Dunkin' fanatic (...I know) so when I tried this place, it's my go to. Warm and friendly place, love the coffee and bagels. Also love they sizes they offer. My favorite drink that I actually crave is the Vanilla Chai latte (hot or cold) it's so good!“
“Service: The entire staff was dope. Accommodated our party of 8 people and we were seated within 15 mins upon arrival - with no reservation The team was also attentive and provided friendly service - including updates on food and drinks ordered. Food: Everything was really good. The Lamb Krahi was soo good. The Garlic Naan was even better. Food was fresh and tasty. We ordered at a spice level 1 ( goes up to 5 ) So beware if you think you can handle the heat. Ambiance: Restaurant was clean and well staffed. Parking is free. Good location in Athens. Decent size restaurant. Lighting is low so it's an intimate setting- we had a great time. Overall:“
“Came here for a Saturday date night and had a great experience! Food was great, service was great, and even after a poor interaction with an unhappy customer, Avery, the manager remained high spirited and kept a smile. Love this spot!Dietary restrictions: Gluten“
“So, so good. Best bbq in Athens in my humble opinion. If you can impress my dad, you've really got something special. From salads to sandwiches to limitless sauces, this place is great for a chill lunch and an afternoon hangout. I can't forget to mention how kind and welcoming the staff were too! Definitely recommend you check this place out.“
“Emily took such good care of us! She had liquor recommendations for us for every drink I was trying to describe. I was honestly clueless, but she helped me find drinks that I was beyond satisfied with! Would highly recommend! Mason and K.P. Were also incredible! The customer service here is definitely beyond what I had expected. The employees were more than willing to help with whatever I had a questions with. The atmosphere here was also very chill yet energetic! Definitely suited for whatever occasion you might have planned.“
“Luna and Corey are the best!! I come here pretty often and the service is always phenomenal. They also do amazing when I order from doordash. If you want late night fresh Mediterranean this is the place to be! I've never been disappointed by the customizable pitas and bowls that this place has to offer. The low prices and quality food are a staple for Athens living!“
“Beautiful and cozy place! The service is nice but very inattentive :/ I ordered an affogato and was given a lemon fog, then 20 minutes later finally got my affogato and it looked... half drank? There was basically no ice cream, just 2 shots of espresso. Other than that, their sandwiches are very tasty and the environment is ambient and beautifully decorated. Board games are plentiful and interesting.“
“Ted's is a good option in Athens on game day. Somewhat inconspicuous, we slipped in & ordered while flashier nearby spots had hour-long waits. We were eating within 10 minutes. I'd say it was at about 75% capacity. Good pizza & beer. Meat lovers, get the La Carne. Wife & daughter liked their veggie pizzas. They have eat-outside options if weather is nice, so we did.“
“If in Athens.....don't miss the best breakfast around. So good we came back the next day. Unfortunately someone said to try another place (I will not name) that was supposed to have great biscuits and grits......nope, Flying Biscuits were the best by far. So friendly also.“
