“I love food! This was my first chance at dining at The Girl and the Goat and it did not disappoint. My first time back in Chicago in almost 2 decades and made reservations in quite a few Michelin restaurants and this has been such a surprise find. We started with the chickpea and naan as well as the liver mousse. We could have stopped there and I would have been confident to declare TGATG my new favorite restaurant, but course after course it just got better. The staff was amazing, Haley,Manuel, and Shea were remarkable, it was such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re going to limit yourself, don’t miss the braised short rib. It was spicy and unctuous and Asian inspired. I could’ve eaten that plate all by myself, however I would definitely recommend going with a group and sharing everything. This is a 10. Thank you so much for such a wonderful time.“

“There is such a chill vibe and multiple spaces to enjoy outdoor RN there's even a doggy parking lot. I love the family nature of this business and it is a black owned family owned business with top quality service and fresh ingredients. I just wish they stayed open longer so I can spend more money with them.“
“This is my second time here at chi tiva. I visit the location downtown first and second time at the Worth, IL location. My experience completely different from the first time around. I visit location downtown informing workers my first time how they offered to let us sample slushy flavors nice jester….they did not inform me of dosage and explain how it may possibly affect first timer. With that being said I ordered 50mg coffee taking a few sips and telling my sister she immediately told me to go back to check out and order a 10mg let them know it was my first time. I can say my experience second time around at the Worth location with Lori she greeted us and explained everything we were interested in getting letting us know dosages and tolerance level. I mentioned at the end I really appreciate her customer service and explaining super knowledgeable. I told myself I would probably not come back but this experience definitely worth coming back when in town. Thank you!“

“I brought my 4 and 1-year-old here and we all loved it! We tried the sushi, the noodles, the donut, the carrot cake, and a juice and it was all really tasty and filling. I definitely recommend this restaurant to any vegan as well as any non-vegan.Dietary restrictions: It’s gluten-free, vegan, mostly raw with some cooked items. Low sugar.Kid-friendliness: Fun music, bright and natural light, yummy options“

“Loved the ambience, their milk cakes are amazing. I wish I could try them all but maybe next time. They serve the famous Yemeni Adeni chai but their flavour is not as great as Qahwah House. We also tried their Bischoff cheesecake which was decent.“

“This was a hidden gem to me. It is a great sunlit spot for everyone in the village. This felt welcoming and warm. Let me tell you about the coffee, spectacular. I felt like I was back in Paris! The only draw back is too many choices and all delicious. Plus the staff knows they are the best…thanks Kelsey (who is my new bestie ?) for the info about everything being good, you were right!!“

“This is my new favorite spot in La Grange! It is located east of Noodles and Co. on Calendar. It is quite small, but a great place to pick up healthy smoothies and bowls. Most things are dairy free, or vegan. I particularly love their soups! Try them out. The staff is also extremely friendly.“

“as an ex-career barista, i’m what most would could consider a coffee snob. i’m just particular about what i want out of my coffee and i can just make it at home. i rarely get coffee out because of this but engine is like 1 of 3 shops i’ll go to in the city. good, simple, quality coffee.“

“Spunky shop in a gritty part of town. No inside seating and it was way too cold to sit on the patio this morning, so unfortunately I was in and out quick and didn’t talk to the baristas cuz they looked busy. But I really liked the urban hipster look and feel (and fun branding) especially given the rough neighborhood location. And they roast their own beans so the coffee was bold.“

“Because of the Starbucks boycott I decided to try local coffee shops instead. That's when I found this amazing place – it's cozy, and what makes it special is that they make their own syrups that give each cup a unique taste. The coffee beans they use are fresh. But the real standout is the customer service. The staff goes out of their way to make sure they perfected your coffee. Switching from a big chain like Starbucks to this friendly coffee spot has been a really nice change. I recommend it to anyone who loves real coffee and a friendly atmosphere.“

“Very friendly lady (reminded me of my grandma) in the front to greet you. Cute little local coffee shop. With great prices after COVID especially. Most coffee shops around Chicago area have raised their prices so was nice to spend less. Obviously i support small business' raising their prices to survive. That's life. I ordered a dirty chai and it was great! Great coffee. However was a bit sweet but that was my fault for rushing to the bathroom and not talking to the kind lady about what sweetness I wanted. ALSO the bathroom is very CLEAN. It was like a home bathroom. Please others keep it clean as well :)“

“VietFive exceeded any expectation I could have for a coffee shop. Passion exudes from every corner of this business - from the merchandise, the store design, the employees, and most importantly the products. Their Vietnamese coffee tastes amazing with a process you can see done for yourself. No Cafe du Monde bite here, as they collect beans direct from Vietnam. The banh mi empanada and the ube donuts also make for some great eating! You will be doing yourself a favor by stopping in and being part of what will surely be a successful coffee enterprise that changes the narrative on what makes a coffee shop exceptional. You’ll go for the coffee and stay for the vibe. Do yourself a favor and check them out!“

“I chose to venture to Ground Up Coffee & Bites based off one of my local free s’s recommendations and I was not disappointed! They have seating both along the window and at the coffee bar, it was the perfect temperature inside, they have free WiFi for customers, and I always appreciate a healthy looking coffee shop plant. The cashier let me know that the three different sizes have different amounts of espresso; small has 1.5 shots, medium (16oz) has 2 shots, and large has 3 shots. For the espresso, I recommend ordering it with Half-Light so that you get the light roasted espresso beans. It makes a smooth and balanced hot oat milk latte that you’re sure to enjoy when it’s cold outside, and it was my perfect companion for my chilly walk back. The Half-Light is their Pure Gold Espresso Roast; an inviting front, smooth mouthfeel, with a subtle zesty finish to seal the deal. A broad, balanced, and deep cup with a rich, nut-milk body and riesling acidity. Base tasting notes of black cherry-chocolate mousse are complemented with honey and almond for a blancmange finish. You can also just simply order any espresso-based drink with the light roast and the staff will know what you are looking for. It’s a little extra for oat milk and the light roast, but it’s worth it.The barista Osama was hilarious and made a perfectly balanced oat latte. He truly made me feel welcome and seemed so genuinely grateful that I chose to purchase today’s coffee there; his hospitality makes me want to return again and again. The theme is black and shiny gold, being the colors the walls are painted to the custom retail bags. I enjoyed the motivation printed on the back side of the retail coffee bag displayed, which read:Remember why.Why you filled your tank on the way home. Why you picked your outfit and prepared lunch the night before.Remember why.Your why is an unparalleled standard and how you go about your pursuit should be no different.Rise & Grind's why is how you fuel yours.Truly crafted for purpose.A lively beginning, peppy core, and natural urbane demeanor.Just like you.“

“I've loved this place ever since I first came here in 2015. It's cozy, there's always seating even in the winter when a lot of cafes are packed (it's usually busy when I come but they just have a lot more space than some cafes), the treats are good and so is the coffee and it's WAY more affordable than most Chicago cafes too. The baristas are always friendly and direct and helpful too. Whenever I bring people here they have great things to say about it. I've also bought multiple hoodies here for family members, cuz the merch section is equally good. Long live Jackalope!“

“Absolutely love new Filipino restaurants popping up in the area. Street parking, open early and through dinner. Fireplace by the front windows, multiple drinks and foods available. Handicap entrance, but the counter to order has stairs so I'm not sure how that is handled. My wife and I went early morning on a weekday as soon as they opened. Limited seating inside, but we were able to get out items quickly. Filipino breakfast is served all day but it is very expensive for their servings. We got the longanisa (2pc) and spam (1pc) combo and it was around 10 after tax, but compared to Uncle Mike's around the corner, their portion seemed like an appetizer. I ordered an Ube latte. I took the pistachio milk (cost extra) vs whole milk. I was surprised and happy to see the it was not overly sweetened for a latte or an Ube drink. It's was more creamy from the milk and very subtle Ube flavor. The milk almost masks the purple potato flavor.I noticed that their lattes depend on their espresso machine. Unfortunately it produces one at a time so during rush hours, expect a wait.“
