“We have one of these back home in Atlanta, but my first time visiting. I love that she asked for allergies and then gave me a menu marked up with what I couldn't eat.Ordered the Plant Powered Lunch, which included a starter, signature dish, and a dessert. Of course I ordered another appetizer lol.Crispy Gyoza - pretty good. Can't say that I would order it again though.BAO SLIDER - this was really good! I appreciated the crispiness of the mushrooms. Probably the best bao sliders I've had. Including when I use to eat meat.SPINACH SHIITAKE DUMPLINGS- my cousin ordered this. Great flavor, I really like these!!POKE BOWL - This was all I needed it to be and more!! Again, the best I've ever had. Of all the poke bowls I've had, this is my favorite. The rice was perfectly cooked. Chicken friend mushrooms were amazing. I loved the ahi watermelon, it provided the perfect zing for your tongue. All the flavors provided the perfect comSINGAPORE NOODLES - They both ordered this dish. I wasn't really a fan of it but they both really enjoyed it.Chocolate chip cookie. The one that was included was in a packaged wrapper. Very good!I then had to be extra and ordered an extra cookie. This time it came out warm!!! Soooooo good!Vegetarian options: Menu is all plant based options.“
“2023 update: our first experience with the sushi here was impressive, but we have since ordered a few more times and I have to say that the food has been inconsistent. It's not bad and it's still a good value (esp. the party trays) , but it also hasn't lived up to that first tray the last few times we tried it. YMMV.Original review:Super friendly and helpful staff, fast delivery, and amazing sushi. Great value, too. My wife and I have lived in South Loop for years and have tried probably a dozen sushi restaurants in the area. This one is a little far from us so we didn't try it until today, but we were blown away by how tasty it was, especially given the affordable pricing and laid-back vibe.We got the Roll Out platter for ourselves and some friends. It's an incredible value for the amount of sushi included, and every roll was delicious. Fish portions were large and very fresh. A substantial part of the platter is "spicy" rolls which I was a little worried about - many sushi places grind up the meat into a mushy paste mixed with who-knows-what, but not here. These were easily the best spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail rolls I've ever had - they're good-sized bits of quality meat mixed with a delicious spicy mayo sauce. No meat paste. They were delightful.Anyway, we may have found a new favorite sushi spot. I just wish we had tried it sooner!“
“I've eaten my way around 40 countries + 48 US states and this is easily one of the most intimate, unique, and realest dining experiences I've had in my life.My partner booked a secret res for my birthday and when we rocked up, I was surprised when the team greeted me by name and spoke to me like a group of friends that were 'checking in' and 'gassing me up' at a celebratory dinner. Later, I was told that she filled out an 'intake' style form letting the team know of birthday, and recent accomplishments. I know... Different. Lol. Love that. The O.G. style Omakase Experience in an industrial speak-easy space with a mini-counter seating only ten. The ambience, hospitality, F&B menu, conversation, everything was M☆.Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee's creation took our palats through a rollercoaster of emotions. If talent is only as real as the people behind the wheel, and an idea is only as special as the person who executes it at its highest level, then Chef Naomi's talent and authenticity is nothing short of un-fu*kingreal, for real.We came strangers and left as friends – Brian; you're a real one. Chef Hannah, Chef Andy, and Alex on bar; y'all are craaazy! Thanks for the memories. Cheers, y'all – Braa + Ronnie“
“It's not just a place to eat but a place to really have an experience that will be sure to leave an impression. The atmosphere, the service, And food all Together make this a classy and memorable experience. The back oyster bar reminds me of New Orleans, being able to step right off of bourbon street. Take a seat at the bar, order and enjoy I'm definitely one of My favorite downtown restaurants.“
“The sea food was the freshest possible and the 2 rolls I had, with soft shell crab and eel were of exquisite taste. Appetizers were delicious, especially the rich green salad with ginger dressing. The dry cold sake, recommended by the waiter, was very good, their list being impressive.“
“Me and my friend decided to stop by this cute sushi place since we're always passing by it. We ordered the Taylor St roll, crab Rangoon, sushi Family B, and the pepper salmon nigiri set. We also ordered the avocado smoothie and oolong milk tea. Everything tasted phenomenal especially the Taylor st roll We also got a shrimp fried rice for take out. The fried rice was very tasty, but there was too soy sauce for my preference. Overall, everything was very good. The interior design is super cute and the staff members are very friendly. I will most definitely be back. I highly recommend this place to college students looking for a sushi at a fair price.“
“Sen Sushi is a tad hidden off of Oak Park Street near Addis’ Cafe. It’s a clean no frills place that offers good amount of specialty rolls and great Sashimi and Nigiri sets. They don’t take reservations and it is small, but seems like turn over is pretty fast. Definitely a place to try if you want decent sushi this side of the burbs.Parking: There is paid parking in front of the building or if u go about half a block down, free parking in front of the houses.“
“Where else can you go and have entrees go by on a conveyor? Makes it interesting just waiting to see what is coming next. If you don't see what you want then you can order what you want and it is delivered by a special train. Also the food is priced by the color of the plate.“
“As visitors to Chicago from California this was a huge surprise. Lively and the food was delicious. We couldn't stop ordering. Hand rolls ginormous. Lychee Martini's I can never find but Umai has them! Didn't hurt we could walk from our hotel.“
“One of the best dinner experiences I’ve had. It wasn’t just that the food was incredibly inventive, seasoned, prepared and presented; the staff were superb- the hosts, servers, and food runners were consistently attentive, friendly and informative without being intrusive. We really felt there was a sense of pride and purpose in crafting a unique meal experience. Sounds corny I know but I really can’t wait to go back!Dietary restrictions: Extensive options for my gluten free companion which meant we could all enjoy everything we hoped to order together“
“Well worth every penny. If you have any reservations about visiting this placed based on its number of reviews (20 at the time of my posting this), please dispel those. If I could give this Omakase Experience a rating higher than 5 ⭐️’s I would. With some of the most interesting, different, and inventive flavor combinations & textural differences I’ve ever had (not just in a nigiri ? but ever). Me & my wife were nothing short of completely blown away by everything.Everyone knows the 5 tastes that we can detect (?????, ?????, ????, ??????, & ?????). Most Omakase Experiences focus on the Salty, Sour, & Umami notes the heaviest. Sushi | Bar gives you the full experience with some amazing Sweet notes as well as some soft Bitter notes on some of the rolls to accentuate the other core flavors.Dietary restrictions: My wife has a food borne allergy to some shellfish (shrimp ?, oyster , crab ?, lobster ) and was shown great care and attention and offered supplemental proteins in lieu of her allergens when they arose in a course.Parking: • There is no shortage of street parking available in all directions (which comes in handy when you have an oversized vehicle like myself).• There is countless paid lots nearby including the Trump Tower as well as several other enclosed lots all within a 4 block radius.“
“Absolutely Amazing. I highly recommend doing the omakase. The food is well worth the price. I recently came back from Japan, and this was so authentic and mimicked the freshness and flavors of Japan. Best Japanese I have had in the United States by far.“
“Fantastic omakase in Chicago! I highly recommend. The service was very lovely, detailed, and each of the items was absolutely delicious. This is a place I’ll definitely be back to. The space is pretty, comfortable, and intimate. The service was the right balance between formal and restrained but without being too stuffy.“
“Absolutely amazing food and experience all around. Don't sleep on this one. The tataki kyuri is the best I've ever had, and that's including three trips to Japan. The hand rolls have perfect fish to rice ratios. Very high quality ingredients. Refreshing and boozy cocktails. Very friendly and engaging staff. Not a single thing I would change for this restaurant.Vegetarian options: I had a couple items that would be considered vegetarian, and those were some of the best items on the menu. I wouldn't say that there is a huge selection of veggie options, but the items that are, are incredible.Wheelchair accessibility: It was right off the street and they have a bar that didn't look too high. I could be wrong though.“
“Best ramen I’ve had in Chicago + compared to other ramen places in the area. The egg yolk is a bit on the more cooked side with a little of runny, but the egg and the broth flavor is rich, and the noodles are perfectly cooked. I usually get the tonkatsu and add spice. The sushi tastes good but is not amazing, but I still eat it whenever I get the cravings since the ingredients they use are fresh.Parking: Business is surrounded by apartments and residential homes so free street parking can be hard to find (though not impossible to get one right in front of the establishment).“
“Sushi ? Sashimi, Makis, Spicy Rocked Shrimp, Gyozas, drinks were all yummy ??? def coming back ? and the Staff were super friendly and kind enough to help me sing Juanes song together Tengo La Camisa Negra for Karaoke ??? at 10pm :) can't wait to come back to sing ?“
“The best omakase experience I have ever had. The wine/sake pairing was perfection, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, the chefs are outstanding. The food is stunning and delectable of the highest quality. There are not enough superlatives or adjectives to express how much I enjoyed my meal and the entire experience.“
“I always get the Kai vegetable roll, and it's hands down one of the best vegetarian/vegan sushi roll I've had and at such a reasonable price. I've never had any complaints here, the service is good and timely. I will always be coming back for more ?“
“Very nice placeGreat atmosphere I very nice serviceChicken Satay superbCrab ragoon very goodPad thai beef very goodSushi great quality riceOnly Tom Yum soup to much onion and to sourYou need add some sweetenes and spiceI will be back over there for aure“
“Ignore the person who apparently doesn't understand what "EXPRESS" means. This place slaps. It's cheap, good quality, and everyone is nice and friendly. It's a tiny storefront and not really meant for dining in. Don't judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree.“
“Daniel, the bartender, gave me a an outstanding hospitality service! He got personal! That’s the key! The food was super duper flavorfull! Lychee drink delizioso! The whole stuff very welcoming! Feels like a family!!!Thank you Tony as well!“
“Had a reservation on a bustling Friday night. The table that was meant for us was still occupied by some slow self-absorbed instagrammers well over their allotted time - reception was really kind and tried multiple times to get them to move. Once resolved, we were seated. Got several of the chef-dressed nigiri bites (Hamachi, Ika, Madai, Saba, Suzuki, and Kanpachi) - all were phenomenal. The flavorings really paired well without overpowering the flavor of the meat! We also got a few rolls - the Hot Daisy in particular was impressive - amazing kick of spice. Drinks were on point as well. Fantastic spot, will come back again!“
“I’ve never eaten here in person. I either order pickup or delivery direct from their website. This is some of the best quality fish in Chicago. We exclusively get the Jalapeno sashimi or the deluxe sashimi. My favorite rolls are the shrimp tempura (no eel sauce) and the mountain roll“
“Love this place. They're Thai. Fried rice is phenomenal. I order it at least twice a month. Their sushi is fantastic and you can customize. It's a little hard to find but it's right off the expressway but I would recommend this place. Their chicken satay also is phenomenal. It's so moist and tender“
“Regardless, the experience is pretty dope you get walked through all of your Omakase courses but I loved how you got a welcome shot of sake! Each course taste unique and any questions we had, our chef didn’t mind answering. The place is super tiny, very cool in decoration but small, so yes, it can be rushed. I think they should space the reservations out a little better- I think my group had to wait about 20/30 mins after our reservation time to be seated. There was little time to linger at the end, hence being rushed, before they were saying you had to go. The hostesses/waitresses were super nice though! Give it a try just to experience it! Enjoy!“
“Very nice place, especially if you just want a really relaxing atmosphere, great vibes, super sweet and friendly and not to mention quick service with a smile. Sushi is fresh, Ramen is very delicious and flavorful. I can drink the broth by itself. But all and all, "It's a must go check out." ... This was family time!!!Parking: Yes, you still have to pay the parking meter on the weekends. I'm just telling you now. CPD is down the street...“
“Everything was so good, definitely recommend the hot lips which are very similiar to jalapeño poppers & the New Pilsen roll!! Everything was good but those were our favs. We also got tempura, gyoza with cheese, spicy edamame & the 18th St. roll. Arianna was a great server & the chef was super nice! Definitely will be “
“Our family loves coming to this place. Great service all the time; they always make it feel more personable as if you were their family.Everything on the menu is a must. Their Godzilla and Chicago Fire Sushi rolls are the best.Miso and Hot and sour soups hot the spot on cold days and the saki give you that kick if you're looking spice.Overall great hidden gem in LaGrange.“
“Not too expensive. The sushi is fine. It is a good place to go to before a CSO performance. They have dinner deals with varieties of sushi. There is a restroom for customers. They have bubble tea as well as the smoothies. There is typically seating open in the evenings.“
“This sushi is amazing. Spicy miso soup is great if you like spicy food. I ordered shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna roll, both delicious. I can tell the ingredients are a good quality. Try it out. I ordered ahead, it probably took 20 minutes for them to make the two rolls and it was around 1130am on a Wednesday.“
“I work in the West Loop and Sumu has become my favorite sushi spot over the past 5+ years. This was originally the second location for Butterfly Sushi, which is still open on Grand. This location kept its sushi menu but added the ramen focus, which provides additional options - thus their new name. Food is always fresh and their service is always impeccable. Whether dining in or takeout (pickup or delivery), it is always a 5 star experience in every way. Highly recommended!“
“Sushi House in Oak Park is a true gem! Mike's exceptional service, combined with the best margaritas I've ever had, made our visit unforgettable. The fire dragon roll stole the show, presented with a torch for added flair. Everything was so good that we had to return the next day. And don't forget to check out the dope speakeasy in the basement—it's a hidden culinary haven that adds a touch of sophistication to the overall experience. This spot is a must-try! ????“
“I only tried the ramen and I found a hair at the bottom. I also didn’t really love the flavor too much. I wanted to love it and I like the concept and everything. I’d probably stick to somewhere else for the ramen and because of the hair I’m staying away ?“
“I’ve been to this location many times for lunch and dinner, mostly pick up. The food here is quality is very good, the lunch menu is a great deal as seen on photo, the portion is great. Compliments to the Chef and all of the hard working staff! I recommend getting the jalapeño fried rice ! It is amazing!Parking: Parking lot on side of building“
