“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“
“Tried this place with my family. The ambiance is great. Server briefed us the menu - very helpful. We started with the Chai - which was great (we are regular Chai drinkers). Broccoli squash and Eggplant bao were average. But the Butter Chicken Calzone was BOMB. Kebab pizza was tasteful but felt low on toppings. We actually loved their take on Sambar Vada (Tamarind Dal) - perfect flavors. Was looking forward to trying the Chai Cake - but they were out. Maybe next timeOverall loved the thought and execution of these fusion dishes. Clearly not supposed to be authentic Indian food. Will be back to their brunch now“
“My wife and I loved the steamed dumplings with mild sauce. The dumplings were very good with or without sauce, but the sauce was delicious too. Chicken tikka masala was one of the best tasting we’ve ever had. Samosa chaat was very good too, one of the better ones. The garlic naan was a bit more plain tasting than we’d live. We highly recommend this place overall and will definitely eat here again and try other stuff!“
“This was my first Indian restaurant experience and I was blown away! We ordered veg samosas, chicken lollipop, garlic naan, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken 65 biryani, and another house biryani special. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I love that the restaurant is BYOB too. Will definitely be coming back!“
“Moti Modern Indian Kitchen is bringing flare to Lincoln Park! I think their Modern Fusion Pizza restaurant is a great idea for this location. It's fun, fast casual Indian fusion that won't break your bank account. Great for the neighborhood and DePaul students! We tried the Sweet Chili Momo's steamed dumplings tossed in sweet chili sauce with green peppers and onions. They were nice and flavorful and I loved the texture. We also tried the Tikka Masala Curry with diced and marinated chicken in a spiced creamy curry served with a side of yellow rice. Super creamy and delicious and the chicken just melted in your mouth. And finally we tried the Masala Elote Pizza, palak pizza, and pepperoni pizza. All were delicious but the masala elote was our favorite! So many delicious flavors and textures on this pizza my taste buds were very happy! We washed everything down with freshly made mango lassis! So delish! I would highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family!“
“Came in the afternoon for a quick bite. We were greeted immediately and seated since it was not as busy. I miss the old menus, but the QR was easy enough and we placed an order for Gola kebabs and the chicken tikka along with the parathas. Our food came quickly and it was fantastic. If you want a fix of home and need Pakistani food that hits the spot, then this is the place. The food, the ambiance, the people. It was all fantastic. Definitely a place to visit for a taste of home.“
“Food was wonderful! Had the lamb chop and it was awesome! Got medium spice which was plenty! Nice vibe here. Music was cool. Highly recommend making a reservation as the only seat at the bar area was only open for 30 minutes. I will definitely come back here! Don't recommend sitting at last seat by bar as I got bumped in to a few times. Excellent menu!!“
“I recently dined at ROOH Chicago, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience that deserves a solid 5-star review! From the delectable food to the inviting ambiance, exceptional service, and perfect location, ROOH Chicago has it all. Let's start with the food. The culinary journey at ROOH is nothing short of exceptional. I kicked off my meal with the Pink City cocktail, which was a perfect blend of unique flavors and a great way to start the evening. The Chili Cheese Kulcha was a delightful appetizer that packed a flavorful punch, and the Sweet Potato Chaat was a wonderful explosion of textures and tastes. For the main course, the Bagara Baingan and the Bengali Lamb Shank truly stole the show. The Bagara Baingan was a flavorful vegetarian delight, while the Bengali Lamb Shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and rich in aromatic spices. These dishes showcased the diversity and depth of Indian cuisine. The saffron cheesecake for dessert was the perfect ending to an already outstanding meal. Its subtle saffron undertones and velvety texture left me craving more. The ambiance at ROOH is something to behold. The interior design is modern, yet it maintains a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully lit, creating a warm and welcoming environment that's perfect for a romantic dinner or a get-together with friends. The vibe at ROOH is trendy and sophisticated, making it a great place for special occasions or just a memorable night out. It strikes the right balance between elegance and comfort, making you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. Service at ROOH Chicago is top-notch. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous. They guided us through the menu, making excellent recommendations and ensuring our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. The location of ROOH Chicago is also a plus. Situated in the heart of the city, it's convenient and easy to access, making it an ideal spot for locals and visitors alike. In conclusion, ROOH Chicago is a gem in the city's culinary scene. The food is exceptional, the ambiance is delightful, the vibe is chic, the service is impeccable, and the location is prime. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience that combines the best of Indian cuisine and modern elegance, ROOH Chicago is the place to be. I can't wait to return and savor their incredible dishes once again!“
“Loved everything I've ever ordered here! Food is fresh and flavorful. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.Homemade mango lassi, chicken tikka masala, samosa, vegetable biryani are my favorite menu items.Vegetarian options: A great place for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters to all feel comfortable eating together.“
“We had a great time here. The cocktail menu was different and has Indian touch to various standard American fare.Portions were good sized and spice levels are mild. We had to specify “spicy” to get spice level to a “normal” level. They have decent vegetarian choices. But I wish they had some creative choices for veg entrees too“
“Hands down the best Indian I’ve had so far since moving to Chicago. The naan is so fresh. The tiki masala was seasoned well and had just the right amount of spice. Chicken is tender. The samosas are also flavorful! Would definitely recommend!!“
“Food was delicious and our waiter (Jaden) was friendly and attentive. We had the samosas to start, the fish basant, chicken makhani (my personal fav), and the side of yellow dal. Desert of the cheesecake was great as well. Plenty of left overs between 2 people. Will definitely be back!“
“"I've dined at this restaurant twice now, and both times the food was nothing short of spectacular. From the appetizers to the desserts, each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The chefs clearly use high-quality ingredients and possess a real knack for combining flavors in a way that delights the palate. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just as impressive as the food, offering a comfortable and inviting setting for a memorable dining experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant visit each time. This place is a true gem, and I can't wait to return for a third visit!"“
“Absolutely phenomenal south Indian food. We came in to dine in but had to get it to-go due to an emergency. The staff was super accommodating and the Veg Thali (sampler platter) was absolutely divine. My friends got the Mutton Thali and Chicken Thali and said it is some of the best food they've had in Chicago. Spice level is definitely on the hotter side of restaurants I've been to but that made for a great meal. Incredibly affordable too. At ~$15 per person and plenty of tasty leftovers that keep well, I'll definitely be making a point to return soon.“
“Hidden gem of Old Town!! I drive by this spot on the way to/from work and always see cars out front - finally stopped in last night and can see why. First of all, the place was filled at midnight with repeat customers which was a great sign. I was a little skeptical when I saw the prices on the menu as it was much more expensive than I expect from a counter serve restaurant, but when I tasted the food, I completely understood why. We had the daily special, the goat biryani, which was loaded with fall off the bone tender meat, flavorful sauce, and rice that was perfectly cooked. Our take out box was packed to the brim and we were easily able to split that meal into multiple leftover meals. I thought I may have just been extremely hungry the night before but even eating the leftovers today, I was blown away by the flavor. One of the best dishes that I've had. Not a fancy place at all, but everyone was friendly and they do have seating available if you want to eat in. Would highly recommend!“
“This is a great option when you’re craving Indian food but don’t want to pay for a huge portion. I told the cashier it was my first time and she threw in a few samosas and sauces for me to try - they were crispy, fluffy, and perfect. I also ordered a chicken tikka wrap with rice and onions. It was absolutely delicious. I will be returning soon!“
“Small, quiet place with excellent food. I had a chicken chilli Marsala, tandoori naan, and Indian tea. It came out piping hot with enough food for leftovers (guess what I'm having for dinner?!). Clean place, good service. The only challenge is parking. In the heart of Little India, so lots of shopping nearby.“
“Ordered amdavadi touch sandwich, dahi puri chaat, sweet lassi, mango lassi, paneer sabji which came with two chapatis. Dahi puri chaat and mango lassi were the best. Mango lassi was very thick. Sweet lassi was a little sour. Sandwich was good and was served with a lays chips packet. Paneer was fine. Service was good ?“
“I’ve been here a couple times in the past and enjoyed the tea and food. Just came over from a special event next door (Hopwell) to escape the noise. Was excited about the extended happy hour ($5 Mango Margarita) and delicious pie for Pi Day. A good place to actually talk to my friend and enjoy some yummy food!“
“I have been visiting Mantra by Indian Garden for many years. And I can briefly tell that this is an unique and fantastic, exotic restaurant I had ever visited with an amazing and warm atmosphere once I enter in.I forget about problems at the moment and I feel like I entered a real Paradise.I am always greeted and seated. Al staff is really friendly, kind and nice, always smiling to me and making me super tasty Jalapeno Margarita my way and serving me an Indian chips with tamrind sauce. Thank you to the kitchen staff.I always have a great time at this place and all staff makes me feel so happy and I do make them happy as well.Positive energy and good vibes are always in this wonderful place.Thank you to all of you - Abi, Marina, Priya, Ben,Jearemy, Alankar,Juan, Mani, Sandi and Andreas. If I misspelled any of your names please forgive me.I love you all and I wish you many successful years to come in one of my favorite restaurant.“
“Absolutely the best! Quality fresh food. The people here are incredibly friendly. We drive from oak park for mild2spicy and will keep doing that as long as they are open. Hey, that’s an idea… open a new location in oak park! ;) favorite items: chana masala, butter chicken, CTM, and the mixed chicken.“
“We have been getting carry out for 10 years from this place. It is by far our favorite over the other Chicago staples. We even feel like they’ve upped the taste and quality in the past 6 months. Can personally vouch for veggie samosa, chicken tikka, lamb saag, palek paneer and onion things.Seriously no need to go anywhere else“

“The food was really good. We got the Paneer tiki masala which was amazing and the butter chicken. The chicken was really good and not tough. The atmosphere was nice. The menu was not very clean and our table was also not the cleanest, the cloth had a food stain on it when we sat down. Everything else though was clean as well as the bathrooms. I would definitely eat here again.“
“Restaurant Ambiance - clean, spacious, airy Service - 10/10 Food - Ordered pita wrap chicken. It was absolutely delicious. The sauces the chef gave were good but the shawarma was so good, it did not really need any sauces. It is important to me that the restaurant was HMS certified. If I am in Chicago again, I would I've to try their shawarma bowl!“
“Sabri Nihari a top-rated restaurant renowned for its authentic flavors and impeccable service. With a diverse menu featuring dishes like Nalli Nihari, biryani, and keema naan, it offers a culinary journey through rich gastronomic heritage. The use of fresh ingredients and expertly blended spices ensures each dish is bursting with flavor, earning Sabri Nihari rave reviews from locals and tourists alike. For an unforgettable dining experience, Sabri Nihari consistently delivers excellence.“
“Tuk Tuk Indian was a great place to get some authentic Indian food. We went in there for lunch and got some nice dishes and the chicken and cheese paratha was THE dish for me. The Chole Bhature was good as well, might recommend some hot sauce for a tad more heat. They do have condiments and utensils available as well if you need them. Can’t forget about that mixed berry smoothie either! Make sure to stop by this place if you come to Chicago you won’t be disappointed!“
“We had been out all day and wanted a quick bite before heading home. We were at Jarvis Sq. tavern and decided to try New Luzzat. The potato samosas were good but the chicken biryani was fantastic. Rice was tasty with lots of whole chicken pieces. Enough that we may have leftovers. Will definitely pickup from here again.“
“One of my favorite restaurants. It’s so good I forgot to take pictures of the food.Favorites: Vegetable Samosas, Vegetable Pakoras, Chicken Tandoori, Murg Tikka Masala, Green Beans and Potatoes, Shrimp in Coconut Masala, Elephant Ride with rum!“
“Hyderabadi biryani is a must-try for authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. The blend of aromatic spices and flavorful rice makes it a culinary delight. Also, try Haleem, a rich and slow-cooked stew, and Mirchi ka Salan, a tangy and spicy chili curry. These dishes showcase the unique flavors of Hyderabad It's great that you found a convenient way to pay through Zelle despite the cash-only expectation. Adapting to different payment options can be helpful, especially when traveling. If you have any more experiences or questions, feel free to share! Feel free email me [email protected]“
“My girlfriend and I love this restaurant. It’s great comfort food at a reasonable price, the staff is always very friendly and attentive. All their dishes are super flavorful and the naan is fresh every time. Easily the best Indian food on Taylor. :) We have to go at least once a week now!“
“Amazing food. Delicious butter chicken, rice, and garlic naan. We crave it. Cash-only, there was an ATM inside but it was out of service. It was a busy kind of atmosphere (self-service water was out for the first half while we were there), but you can tell it's busy 'cause the food's legit. COME FOR THE BUTTER CHICKEN - IT'S SO GOOD!“
“We drove in, on our way back home, thinking this was actually Thalaiva's (Rajnikath) personal gourmet chain, but wasn't.Rest assured, they're as genuine a Thalaiva (Leader/Boss) in restaurant business and Indian cooking as any.Exceptional food quality, chicken curry to die for. Don't go expecting Delhi style North Indian cuisine and tastes only, coz the flavors of Bangalore and Hyderabad abound and how!!Amazing trip, worth every penny! For you, Go for it. And for Thalaiva's, keep it going!!“
“This is our go-to Indian food spot in the area and it has never disappointed us. This past round, we ordered saag paneer, butter chicken, and chicken korma, along with sides of garlic naan and paratha breads. All was delicious and an order for two made for several leftover meals after the initial dinner. Anytime we're in the mood for Indian, it's always Spice Room - no question!“
“They got very good food specially indian and moghlai food..and also they got some noodle ..but they give good when only u have a dining there...but when u take a pick up order they dosnt put much efforts to make a good dish...so i prefer to eat there itself insted of bringing the food or taking parcel...“
“We are a group of 20 from California who visited Chicago. We had brunch at Kings Sweets today and the food was amazing! We ordered Halwa Puri, Chole Batura, Paya, Naan, Kashmiri Chai, and Irani Chai. The Halwa Puri was a 9/10. The potato curry and chole that came with it was so delicious. The Chole Batura was a 10/10. It was very creamy and flavorful. The Paya was a 10/10 as well. Everyone loved its perfect balance of spice and flavor. The Naan was a 10/10. It tasted so good with the Paya. It was fresh and aromatic. The Kashmiri Chai was an 8/10. It was good, but I couldn’t taste the nuts that well. The Irani Chai was a 10/10. The sweetness and taste was just right.Overall, our experience at Kings Sweets was fantastic! We would definitely come again.“
“We ordered mix platter, mutton biryani, chilli chicken, paratha and chai. Overall its is a decent place with some things very good, and few things at par and some below parPlatter had 5 itemsTwo items were very good (malai chicken and tandoori)Pathar ka gosh was under par, dint taste like pathar ka gosht.Seekh kabab was just OKSides with platter (mayo and other sauces are pretty good)Chilli chicken- to be honest i could not figure out if this was chicken 65 or chilli chickenMutton biryani- this was the best of all the items i ordered. Few of the biryanis that i found good at devon.Chai was also decentPrice wise its high for few items and on par with other places on some other items“
“I can't say enough about how good the food has been from Rishi we discovered Rishi through a friend and, as Indians often do, were expecting the food to be somewhat similar to homestyle Indian but not exact. Boy were we wrong!! It was incredible in every way but here are some of the highlights for me - the pahadi goat curry and goat biryani are OUTSTANDING. As someone who still measures this against my Kashmiri grandmothers cooking- it's impressive to taste something that precise. I hope they keep refining these as they grow. The Tiger Prawn Moillee and Goan Fish Curry are also stellar dishes, each of them fresh and delicious served with fresh basmati (don't forget a side of sliced onions and lime) we've not gotten to try their Jackfruit biryani as yet and I look forward to going through the menu over cooler months.. thank you team for a comforting, true to home experience“
“Best Cafe on Devon! From the best Pakistani/ Indian dishes to the best fast food you’ve ever tried! The thing with Pakistani/Indian food with this restaurant is they offer you whatever they have made that same day making the items fresh. I’ve tried multiple places for the best cheeseburgers but nothing beats this restaurant! The Philly and the gyro are amazing too! Very well priced and the food is delicious! Do check them out you will not be disappointed!“
“The best breakfast place on devon its very tasty idli dosa are its best don't forget its ginger chutni ,u get it fast I sat in my car and ate it was so good it women's who don't want to sit inside they can bring it to u r car and can enjoy hot“
“We had an enjoyable meal! My picky eater preschooler loved the butter chicken and had 3 helpings and really loves the mango lassi too, which had lots of mango. The owner/chef was very attentive and friendly and his restaurant is just starting out, but you can tell he has a lot of experience making good food.“
“I called them to ask if the menu is halal and the lady on phone said "you don't know yet?" why would I call if I knew. I'm new here and supposed to ask. Besides she was repeatedly asking my name. Learn some manners first.“
“Drove from Indianapolis, on a friend's recommendation. Trust me the time getting there and the money spend was all worth it. Very nice decor, clean restaurant, friendly staff but the food was the main STAR, succulent tender meat doused in flavorful meaty gravy, steaming hot naan bread and one of the best laccha paratha. I have been a great fan of Sabri'e Nihari but Ali bahi's NIHARI takes the cake, a million miles ahead when it comes to flavor, tenderness of the meat, and the portion size just was an amazing experience enjoying the meal. A great big thank you and wish you the best of success . In Sha Allah, we will see you soon.“
“Visiting from out of town and this was place was recommended by a friend, out side ambience is not good so we were little hesitant but once we go inside it's not bad, we ordered mutton and chicken biryani taste was very good mutton was cooked very nicely, Haleem was also very tasty. We also ordered chicken 65 and mutton fry they were also very delicious. Overall this is one of the places where we should remember don't go by the looks last but not least should try the paan and irani chai“
“I’ve been here several times. If you’re ok with a small hole in the wall with literally one server but are also looking for one of the best Pakistani/Indian food you’ll ever eat…this is your place. I can’t stress enough how good ALL the food at this place is. And you’ll be surprised with how low your bill will be. BYOB too.“
“New favorite restaurant! Excellent food, whether or not you’re vegan. Almost the entire menu is also gluten free as well, so this place is perfect for those with dietary restrictions. This place has been struggling since Covid, so go and show them some support, they deserve it!Vegetarian options: The menu is 100% vegan, even the mango lassi and the palak paneerDietary restrictions: Everything is vegan and 90% is also gluten free. They have gluten free samosas and vegan mango lassi! Also vegan palak paneer, which is really rare to see. I’m Vegan and I have celiac disease as well, and the owner made sure not to cross-contaminate my food and keep everything safe for me.“
“This spot in Chicago is amazing, the food is so tasty and authentic I would love to bring my family here again and again. The beef sheesh kabobs are great and the aloo paratha were so fresh. The biryani was super tasty. I would definitely upgrade the furniture and ambiance of the restaurant. The service is great. There fried chicken is good!!“
“First things first.,. WATCH YOUR STEP on the way in. It's posted, but if I could say nothing else, I would just say that. But I can totally say more. Service wasn't great at first. But it got better really quickly. This was my first experience with Indian food and it was really good to me. The dessert was meh but that's probably more my fault for not knowing what I was pointing at and not getting something to my preference because of it. I'm not holding the restaurant responsible for my ignorance. It was expensive. But of all the places I've been lately, it had good value for what we ordered.“
