“Y’all need to visit Taverna Naxos in Wilmette and have an Aphrodite‘s Kiss made by Rosanna. It’s their Greek version of an Old Fashioned and is truly fantastic. Follow that up with the Baby Back Ribs (no bbq sauce in sight or needed) and you’ll be anxious to return. Say hi to Naxos’s manager, Suzanne, who will make sure you enjoy your visit.“
“This is a place that the entire community appreciates. I commend small businesses like this for keeping their commitment to being a wonderful local option for Wilmette and the surrounding neighborhoods. However, I do wish that they had at least a few vegan entree options. If they did, people like me would visit more often to eat instead of just having to settle with a tea and fruit.“
“Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Great tasting food. It was my first time there and the food was very tasty. Not your usual sloppy pita sandwich, (although I love those, also). Nice variety of appetizers. I tried the zucchini keftedes and they were great. Nice portion to share or have it alone for a meal. (next time I'm going to order them with less sauce because I like the flavor og the kefteda). I'm happy to see a Greek food restaurant in the neighborhood. gives the neighborhood a continued variety of great places to eat. I will be back. Best of luck.“
“This place is special in a way that would almost makes me want to keep it a well-guarded secret. You don't really get this experience anymore, it takes a confluence of passion and community that's hard to come by in any era, let alone the modern, distanced, impersonal world we occupy now. This is the quintessential Chicago Mom n' Pop experience. Great food at ridiculously good prices served up with a smile and a friendly familiarity that makes you feel like you're right at home. The decor matches the patrons: humble, comfortable, working-class Americana and unapologetically Chicagoan to the core. You can tell most of the customers here are patrons for life, and with good reason. You always feel like a person here, not an order. They aren't just trying to turn over your ticket, they want to make sure you're taken care of.I can't tell you the last time I had perfect fries before this, like too-hot-to-eat, immaculate golden brown fries. I definitely can't recall ever getting them with a whole burger for under $7. I fed two hungry adults here for less than $20. It felt absurd, almost, like I wanted to pay more because it felt unfair to them that I'd pay twice that much at a lot of places.Just a positively perfect experience every time and we always make it a point to stop here anytime we're remotely close by.“
“Visiting from Indiana for training and decided to get Greek for dinner.....man o man o man.....was this a fantastic choice! When I pulled up, it was free valet parking and I was a little confused because I didn't anticipate it being that type of fine dining experience but I was wrong. We arrived at 6ish on Tuesday and let me say we beat the crowd. Within 20 minutes of our arrival, there was a wait for seating. As an appetizer we ordered the Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) And it was phenomenal. They automatically give you a platter of toasted bread and it was the perfect accompaniment.I ordered the chicken kebab meal which came with a soup and my choice of side. I chose the lemon chicken soup and greek potatoes...my tummy was in agreement with my choices. My friend ordered the Moussuka and it was a large portion that also came with soup and choice of side...she chose the mixed veggies and they were truly delicious. We tried the dandelion greens because neither of us had had them before. They weren't my fav but my friend loved them. This was simply a matter of preference nothing more nothing less.My friend got a baklava to go because we were too full for dessert at that moment. The portions are healthy, service was top notch and the food was obviously quality ingredients. There is something for everyone on this menu!“
“The chocolate rum balls and spinach pie are delicious and the owner is so sweet. The chocolate rum balls had nuts and were super fudgy- they just melt in your mouth. This is a great neighborhood spot! Very reasonably priced so make sure to have cash.“

“Excellent value and quality Mediterranean food. The chicken shawarma came with generous portion and great flavor. The addition of four complimentary topping (I picked baba ghanouj, hummus, and grape leaves) also tasted amazing and very fresh.“
“While unassuming and a little out of the way, there's nothing better than a restaurant/bar with a small town feel, cheap drinks, and an interesting menu. The bartenders were easygoing and helpful, the other patrons were very chill, and we were able to find our own spot and enjoy the day. We went on a Saturday afternoon/evening and had an excellent time.“
“I've worked in Morton Grove for 26 years and we have patronized this location often and have always found the food to be consistently great and the service to be Timely and I'm actually on my way there this now! Highly recommend. The Greek gyros are phenomenal and I also love the American Style. Stop by if you're in the area you'll be glad you did“
“My boyfriend has been wanting to take me to Cross-Rhodes forever as they have one is his favorite burgers; The Rhodes Burger, which is a half pound burger patty with cheese, topped with gyros meat on a sesame seed bun. It sits on a bed of steak cut Greek fries, which are equally loved. It's a big burger and will keep you full for most of the day. He asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was perfectly medium. I took a couple of bites, and the meat was so soft and juicy and the gyros was perfectly crispy. They don't skimp on the gyros. I ordered chicken souvlaki with grilled vegetables and tzatziki sauce. Chicken kabob in general is pretty similar from restaurant to restaurant, but their chicken kabob was one that I especially enjoyed. It had great flavor, wasn't dry, but also wasn't swimming in juice and had a beautiful char. I love a char on my meats, so it was pretty hard to not finish my plate. The tzatziki was very good - thick, with good flavor and not overly garlicky. The service was wonderful. We were greeted upon arrival and as we left by who I assume was the owner. Our waitress was very sweet and personable and made you feel right at home. Very cozy place. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try.“
“We dined at Plateia for the first time tonight. The food is absolutely fantastic. We had the feta and honey appetizer along with tzatziki and fresh warm pita. For our main course, I had the yogurt chicken and oven potatoes which were delicious. My husband had the pastitcio which he enjoyed. Service was great, too! By the way, while waiting did our table, we observed a screaming woman who was upset that she had not been seated yet. She was incredibly rude to the hostesses and left in a huff. She threatened to leave nasty reviews on Yelp, calling the restaurant "trash". Make no mistake... she was the trashy one. If she leaves a review here, ignore it!“
“BYG appears to be back to the ways they were before the pandemic of 2020. Their portions are generous again as before I felt there was major cutbacks in quality and quantity due to businesses suffering due to Covid. Loved the pork kebab (Souvlaki), tzatziki sauce along with the Greek potatoes and rice pilaf.“
“The service is great, I'm adopting the owner as my mom, and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Not very crowded right now because it's artic weather out. We bought a bottle of wine from across the street. Perfect night.“
“They never miss to make great food in here, Italian beef is fire, and burgers are made well and placed perfectly. Whatever they are doing back there they are doing right. Only complaint would be the blond muscular gentleman seems to always have an attitude. If he sees this all I gotta say is chill out broski it will be alright ?“
“This is the best Greek village salad I’ve ever had. This is my favorite type of salad and usually the only type of salad I will eat. I got it from here a few weeks ago and have been thinking about it ever since….so glad I went back for it again today - YUM!!Their marinated meats for the grill are also delicious!!“
“Excellent Greek and Chicago specialties. We started with Saganaki (flaming Greek cheese), they used to flamblé at table side, now they flamblé near the table and when it goes put they serve it. We also had calamari (kalamari). I strayed from the Greek traditional dishes and tried the fried smelts; if you grew up in the midwest, you might have tried smelts, and Central Gyros served them exactly as I remember my mother did. We also got Pastitsio, a Greek lasagna type dish. All entrées are served with soup, and we all chose the egg lemon soup. Solid choice. Overall Central Gyros has been doing Greek food for decades and provide great food at reasonable price.Parking: There is a free multi-level parking garage across the street.“
“Been a customer since 1978 when it opened. There have been a few changes in ownership over the last 10 years, but the food quality has come back to an excellent level again. Love the gyros. The meat, the bread and how it’s cooked, and the sauce are amazing. But their gyros are not the only food they serve. Make a trip . It’s worth it.“
“So me and my girlfriend were walking on the sculpture park path when we saw (and smelled) this restaurant. We were both hungry and felt lazy to cook at home so we decided to drop in. From the outside it looked like a sit down restaurant, but when we went in it was more of a fast food Greek gyro joint with no d (nothing wrong with that in my opinion). We both got a gyro sandwich and shared an onion ring side. We got our food pretty fast and it was delicious! However, I do think they kinda went overboard on the onions but that's probably just me. Would recommend this place heavily for a quick bite to eat.“
“This is my favorite Greek restaurant in the country and one of my top 3 go-to places in the NW Chicago suburbs. The service is friendly and very attentive, and the food is beyond amazing. Do yourself a favor and order the "flaming cheese" -- a lot of it! Opa!“
“The place itself first of all is amazing.I had the Natural burger(medium rare) a few times and it's great, but my favorite is the steak sandwich it's ridiculously good also medium rare and I love the fries. You have to check out Big League Burgers you will not be disappointed.“
“The Greek salad was Awesome!!! Had everything in it and anchovies upon request! The Grecian Chicken meal and Gyros sandwich Awesome! Don't forget the freshcut fries, nice and hot upon pick-up! We'll be coming back real soon...We're neighborhood folk, and like to enjoy a nice delicious meal away from home, just like eating at home! You won't go wrong trying this place, if you haven't already!Parking: Parking is very convenient...right out in front“
“I accidentally ordered after hours from Grubhub, and the gentleman called and still offered to do my order! Talk about customer service!!!! I’m so excited to try their food and order again solely because of their kindness and flexibility! Customer service on point THANK U!!!!!“
“The food was pretty good. I got Buffalo wings, and they were better than quite a few others that focus on wings. Plus, the size of the wings was nice. They staff were very nice, especially for my first time.Very simplistic appearance. But, clean!Parking: There is not a lot of parking close by. I had to park in a nearby roadside spot.“
“Best tasting gyros in the city. Love to stop by when I’m in the neighborhood and am never disappointed. Plus they have so many other excellent options on the menu like the ribs, Greek chicken and Grecian salad. Great food and great service from a family owned Chicago landmark! Thanks Windy City!“
“This past mid September was the very first time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit of a Gyros junkie so stumbling onto the name on Google maps caught my attention. My family & I were wandering around Old Orchard before coming here but I'm not familiar with any restaurants within the mall that serve up Gyros or at least I haven't heard of any popular name that's known for their Gyros there.Told my wife I've got that craving and wanna go exploring. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service. We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.I wish a prosperous & successful future for the owner(s) and decades of boomin' business to come their way.“
“10/10 experience from the food to the atmosphere to the service! I went for the spinach stuffed chicken and I highly recommend it. The portion was perfect. Daniel (the bartender) offered great service and great conversation. Although it was cold outside, I can tell this place will be amazing in the summer when the patio is open. I’ll be back!“
“Went for a late afternoon family birthday dinner. The menu selection, food quality, authenticity, ambiance were all second to none. I recommend the Yemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes filled with beef and rice) served with Greek potatoes and veggies. Other family members had the Dolmades, Pastitsio, and Makaronada, all of which were mouth watering and done right! Avgolemono was glorious, and the Saganaki was awesome, spot on-not dry or too salty. Portions are generous and yet dont leave you stuffed but satisfied. It felt like we were in Greece. OPAA! You must eat here! Bravo Dimitri's and all the staff, σας ευχαριστούμε!“
“I love Avli!! The locations I’ve been to, Winnetka and Avli Taverna, have a great philosophy, atmosphere and is intimate for couples, yet easily accommodates a family of 4 comfortably for a casual yet fine dining experience. The menu is thoughtful, including imported Greek oils, crafted unique Greek dishes masterly designed with every detail. Every desire the guest needs is addressed and executed. The plates are exquisite and the atmosphere is heavenly, magical! (No doubt, I imagine, and kudos to your VP and marketing genius Ian) I passed Avli on the Park New Year’s Eve and did take a video which I will gladly post/share! The energy and vibe permeated outside to the guests in line waiting to enter to celebrate the New Year with Ian Vlahakis and the friends and family of Avli! Laura Kennedy media market manager recruiter for Lincoln Park territory~chicagoland and north shore 847-477-6972 thank you so much God bless and happy new year! best to you in 2023, Laura Kennedy“
“Homey, cozy family restaurant - glad we stopped in for breakfast (after driving past for years)! I don't know of any other place in the neighborhood that makes Dutch Baby / German Pancakes ... and Dappers does them RIGHT. My husband's skillet breakfast was great, and the coffee's nice and strong, too. We'll be back!“
“"Franksville Chicago earns my highest praise for its diverse menu and consistently delicious food. Whether it's gyros, Greek chicken, or burgers, every dish impresses. Even when we arrived close to closing time, the staff graciously accommodated us, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Their kindness and quality cuisine make Franksville Chicago a standout dining destination."“
“Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Probably visited here last in the 2010s but still the same classic joint interior-wise and food-wise. Top 5 Gyros and Chicken Gyros spots in the Chicagoland suburban area in my opinion. Ordered their Chicken Gyros sandwich as well as a side of Oven-baked Greek Potatoes (pictured here). So much gyros meat and the potatoes are perfectly baked and soaked in broth. Not going to wait years for my next visit.“
“My daughter had a dance recital that ended late and we needed someplace open. I had always wanted to try Hubs but never had the chance. My wife had the burger which had an excellent char and my sun and I shared the ribs and wings special. It was great. Was it the best no. Was it fine dining heck no did it fit the bill heck ya. The tzatziki was a stand out for sure. We will be back.“
“I stopped in for a quick bite on my way to the dentist. They still serve the American usual hot dog Polish burgers tenders stuff like that. The Chicken shawarma wrap was absolutely amazing with veggies. I'm sure the falafel is awesome as well I'll be back soon.“
“Wow this place is great. Not sure who I spoke to on the phone but I called 5 min before closing to place an order, and they kept the place open for me to arrive and pick up my food! It’s hard to find genuine service these days but Whoever they have answering the phone on Thursday nights is a freaking rock star! I would give 10 stars if I could but I highly recommend this place!“
“Local spot. Great flavorful salads with lots of ingredients and delicious dressings. Great for dinner, lunch, and catering for large groups. Kids love the chicken nuggets and we love the burgers. Our go to quick and fresh meal spot.Kid-friendliness: Lots of great choices for kids.“
“Excellent food, staff and relaxing environment. We have been going there for many years and one of the main waiters never fails to remember us and always gives us a welcoming warm friendly welcome when we walk in. Our waitress was so nice and she was very friendly as well as all of the servers. We love this place and deeply enjoy the menu!“
“They give you nice fat chunks of gyro meat here, it's excellent. My wife and I had a Chicago dog, pizza puff, bomber special, onion rings, Oreo shake. Everything was very good and the prices were fine. Bomber Special and Pizza Puff were my faves. Great dive vibes; it's a tiny 8-stool bar with a little TV in the corner. Playing tennis when I went (hell yeah)The gyro meat was chunky and had a good bite, and with BBQ sauce on the bomber special it was insane. The onion rings are breaded and I personally prefer battered, but the breading was even and fried well, and the inside was all beautiful stringy onions. Pizza puff was fantastic, great cheese and sauce ratio and really satisfying bites all the way through.Chicago dog was good, they use a poppyseed bun (I'm sick of going to spots with regular buns, this is a real dog) except I think the sports peppers were a little heavy. Tomatoes were a little light, but I prefer that. Oreo shake was excellent, it was creamy and a little icey in a good wayThe guy was really nice too. He was great at interacting with the customers that were interested and laying off the ones just trying to enjoy their food. 10/10 spot“
