“Elsie’s is a favorite of mine so it was a no brainer to go there for my birthday back in March. It was the first time for my boyfriend, who’s from Kenner, and he was throughly impressed. We got the red bean hummus and crawfish queso to start because I think EVERY MEAL should start with those two. The entrees were delectable as always and to top it all off, they had my all time favorite pie in the case. We took home a whole chocolate pecan pie because who needs birthday cake when you can have birthday pie?!?! All in all, a perfect evening at Elsie’s as always.“

“I haven't been to The Chimes since I was working in Baton Rouge years ago. Today I had lunch with my daughter and granddaughter who is now a student at LSU. The place is just as good as I remember! Great food, great service, and a nice casual atmosphere. I had the Pork Scallopini - outstanding! Crispy fried, thin cut pork and rich linguini alfredo. The blue cheese dressing for the salad must have been made locally and had a wonderful flavor. A little bread was crispy on the outside and delicious.White chocolate bread pudding with pecans on top were a great finish to this wonderful meal.I apologize that my meal in the photo was half eaten. I dove right in before my brain kicked in.“

“Extremely rude workers. They delete comments if they don't like the review. We had a party of 10 and waited like they asked then they tried to seat us at a table for 6 people. Five people would be piled on top of each other on a booth. asked to add a table ( there were 3 empty tables right by us) they said no but we could wait an additional hour for a table. asked for manager and a girl comes out saying she is manager. No apologies no nothing. We did call ahead and were told no same day reservations but they had a big enough table to accommodate us. I have been reading reviews and there are a ton similar to our experience. It's starting to seem they do not want to accommodate large parties and try to make the experience so unbearable that they eventually leave. We ALWAYS tip over 25 percent even when service sucks. Their loss!!“

“The food was amazing. We enjoyed the Sunday brunch menu which included the French onion soup, fried oyster salad and for entrees we ate the New Orleans Crab Cake Benedict and Short Rib Benedict. The manger was so gracious as to give me a small bottle of champagne to take home since all the desserts were made with chocolate and I am allergic. We will definitely be back for the dinner menu. It is casual but upscale where you go there to watch sports, have a business meeting, or even a date. The service was off the hook awesome - Emily is a Rockstar waitress. The food was delicious. We had the gator bits as an appetizer. I had the catfish lebeaux, which was great. My friend had the delta queen and really enjoyed it. This is a great place to have a great meal.“
“I went too long not trying this place. Simple concept, very casual, but excellent at what they do. The Philly cheesesteaks are amazing! Be prepared to wait a bit during the lunch rush, but hey, just a good sign it's well loved because people line up every day to get it! I'd recommend the Cajun cheesesteak and if you're avoidant of spicy things like me get it without the jalapeños and light on the chipotle mayo. Flavor is so good and always fresh!“
“So, I'm not explicitly saying I am a bbq snob, but unless I'm home (Texas), KC, or Carolina, I typically won't even try a place. However, I was with a group of locals that was sure their place could change my mind. Spoiler alert...it didn't. With that said, there were definitely some good points. First off, you could smell the smokers when you were in the parking lot, so great start. We showed up at the tail end of lunch and there were a lot of people seated. It took about 30 minutes to get seated, but it was a large crowd. I have no issues with the wait. I ordered a two meat plate with burnt ends, brisket, Mac and cheese and fries. Overall, I'm disappointed to say the Mac and cheese was the best. And it WAS really good. The burnt ends were way to dry for the most part. There were a couple of bites that were delightful, but for the most part all the fat had been rendered and they were just dry little nuggets. The brisket was ok. Also a little too dry and sliced thinner than I'm used to. It did have a decent smoke ring though! Our server was excellent. Kept checking on us and made sure drinks were filled. No issues there whatsoever. Would I come here as a destination meal? Not likely. But again, I live in what I consider the brisket capitol of the country, so keep that in mind. There were definitely some good bites, just not every bite. I give it a non bbq state 4 stars. “
“OBSCURE / HIDDEN GEM! The atmosphere is no frills offering good food. Ms. Evelyn (I hope I got her name right) brings her skills and talent to work with her EVERYDAY this place is open for business. The food never disappoints. From the delicious fried chicken, fried catfish, red beans & rice, white beans (all beans served with whole sausage links) potato salad, macaroni cheese, peas, & much more! They have dessert and each meal comes with a corn muffin and tea. ONLY open weekdays from 11am to 2 pm. Very popular with the locals. That being said you will run into a crowd, DAILY. Well worth it! There are small areas indoors for eating but most get their food to go. They post Daily lunch menus on FACEBOOK. Check it out for accuracy. “Love this Walk On's location. This location is better than the one located down corporate in town center. We had a very nice waitress, I don't remember her name but she had blonde curly hair. She was super sweet and made our experience great. We went on college night which was super packed and busy but our burger came out in a reasonable amount of time. College night is a great deal. The scholarship burger is only $5 and comes with fries and toppings. The burger was a little pink in the middle but is understandable with how many burgers they were probably cooking that afternoon. Loved that our waitress kept checking up on us and making sure we didn't need anything else.“

I had the "Turkey Spin Art Melt," which was a perfectly buttered and toasted sandwich with warm creamy spinach-artichoke dip, sliced turkey, caramelized onions, and fresh tomato. So. Good. I was surprised! I thought "The Hausse" was a coffee shop, but they have so much more--cocktails, specialty coffee, and food that can compete with (and beat!) most restaurants. Their menu sounds fantastic with so many choices that would please anyone...breakfast, salads, sandwiches, etc). This place is GREAT for families with small kids, as there's a SEPARATE indoor playing area, so others can still dine and sip their coffee in peace. It's a win-win for everyone. Overall, the place is clean and beautiful. I came for the play area for my daughter, but I will be back for the food, ha!“
“We ate there and all of us ordered either Brisket or Baby Back Ribs with 2 sides. All was very good. cook just right and the sides were baked beans (great) and Waffle FF (great), also the Mac/Cheese was good also . They offer a variety of cooked meats and sides along with sandwiches. We are going to go back soon. By the way there were a bunch (100 or so) cars in the parking lot, which is very large and a bunch of space to sit down and enjoy our meal. All the plates ordered came out fast and everything was hot & cooked perfectly. The Beach Volleyball was going on strong.“

“I ordered for the first time online today which was great. My expected pick up time was eight minutes after I ordered but unfortunately I didn’t get my order until 24 minutes after I ordered. I will say that I really do love waffle House. One of the few places that cook your food to order and they use real eggs, so I am OK waiting. I do feel that if there were more staff at this location that they would’ve been able to fulfill not only my order but the other customers in the restaurant quicker but I understand in this climate, it’s hard to find good people, thank you for my food. “Bridgette was our server and she did an amazing job! As someone who comes from food service management, I pay attention to a lot of the aspects of a visit and she hit over the mark on every one. She was attentive, her spirits were high, her enthusiasm was apparent, and her follow-up was consistent. She always met our needs before we got the chance to ask and made sure we were comfortable and satisfied the entire time. She really laid the foundation for a supreme experience and I will definitely come back because of her.
