“Overall loved the sushi, the wait staff, and the experience. It was a little darker than what I would have wanting in terms of lighting. But other than that would book again for sure. The sushi was so good. And our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable.“
“WOWOW a must go in Boston. This place does not disappoint. Literally everything was delicious. All the appetizers were fried to perfection with a light tasting batter. The curry beef udon was SO GOOD. Savory and delicious. The curry taste was perfect, not overbearing. The udon was cooked well, not too soft nor hard. The kanten dessert was a nice and light dessert. Not too sweet. The decor inside is adorable. The flowers and banners really make a difference. It was a lil spot that made me feel like I was jumping into Japan. Service was fast. We didn't have to wait too long for our group of 6. Very accommodating. If you make a reservation, make sure to be on time. They are strict which is understandable because it's a small space. Super great! If you are in Boston, you gotta try this place!!“
“Delicious udon at a somewhat high, yet reasonable price point! We got the creamy uni udon and the pork kimchi udon. For both, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the soup base was delicious! There was a generous serving of uni and pork, and noodles were plentiful!“
“I've been here lots of times. I am not vegan but still this is one of my favorite places to grab ramen in Boston. There's only 5 options, and I've tried 4 - they are all amazing but the Japanese curry one is my recommendation!! The pricing also seems fair for the area. No outdoor “
“We love BlueRibbon! We frequent two of the NYC locations often so were excited to see they are in Boston. The space is awesome; quiet, spacious and dim lit. Sushi came out fast (almost too fast, we did not even have drinks yet). We felt a tad bit rushed but nothing that ruined the experience. The food is always the highest quality you cannot go wrong with BlueRibbon if you are looking for the best sushi.“
“O Ya was a place I've been trying to get to for 3-4 years. On an episode of the youtube series Hot Ones where celebs eat progressively hotter wings Salma Hayek proclaimed O Ya as her favorite restaurant. When I heard it was a restaurant in Boston I knew I had to try it. Each piece was creatively constructed and layered with complimentary flavors. Pictured here is the entire 20 course omakase plus 1 extra (the umi toast). If you look at the image of the menu and zoom in there are additional items you can add to your courses. I asked the waiter if I went with just one what does he suggest and he said the umi toast and I'm happy he did. The umi toast was a crispy tangent that I really appreciated. There is a steep price tag to eat here, but you will be here for 2-2.5 hours so I think of it more like an edible art show. I had an amazing time here and I hope you do as well.Vegetarian options: My wife got the vegetarian omakase of 20 pieces and if I get back here sometime I want to try it. They put just as much effort into the vegetarian menu as they do the regular one. My wife was also really impressed with 99% of the vegetarian menu. The crushed ice shisho leaf was the one piece that wasn't her style, but I tasted it from her dish and thought it was delicious.“
“Fast service and great appetizers. The mains were also good. Fried kimchi in the calamari was tasty. The tiger ribs were fire, great texture and flavor addition with the peanuts & fried shallots/onions. The edamame dumplings were confusing tho, I loved the truffle corn puree and the skin of the dumplings, but the edamame dumplings filling was a bit bland and lacked texture. I think the truffle corn would be good on its own with a side of fried dough sticks to dip with. A diverse option of drinks!“
“My local friends kept recommending this restaurant, so I’m glad I finally had the chance to try it out. Great service, great food, and cute vibes. I have no complaints, and I would recommend it. The dishes (in pictures) was so fulfilling, and the shrimp was soooo buttery!“
“Excellent service and excellent food. 5/6 had the tasting menu. They took pains to accommodate the individual who wanted to go ala carte (kudos to the kitchen and service staff!). All plates were unusual and delicious. The one drawback was the noise level. It was not a packed room but it was loud enough that we had trouble hearing each other across the table -- a bit too "energetic" for such a refined dining experience in my opinion. Overall though, it was an excellent food "experience". We will return.“
“The sushi at this place is a true masterpiece. The food is amazing and crafted with freshest ingredients. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special night out. Easily a five-star experience and highly recommended sushi place!“
“Came in from out of town and Fiji did not disappoint. I got the A5 Waygu. It comes for you to cook on a hot stone yourself. Absolutely melts in your mouth. Server was Japanese as well. Good vibe in there. $82 plate but worth it if you want something small but delicious.“
“Pretty good food! Parking is a little difficult because the restaurant doesn’t have its own lot. Plenty of seating and we were the only people dining in at dinner time on a Monday. Not the best thai food I’ve ever had but certainly wasn’t disappointed.“
“The first time I tried Taiyaki NYC was in NY, of course, but the quality for the Boston location is the same. Very picturesque desserts that will satisfy a sweet craving. I got the unicorn and matcha sesame, which were both tasty. They taste especially good when the taiyaki cone is fresh and warm, but be sure to eat it quick in the summer if you want to avoid a sticky mess!“
“Overall solid food. Service was relatively fast, and I would definitely come back! I love their creative spin on a classic sushi roll- sushi tacos! Amazing! We ordered the salmon and hamachi tacos. The salmon one is slightly sweet while the hamachi has a smokier more umami taste. I am quite picky about rice but their sushi rice they used was excellent. Perfectly vinegary and a good amount of stickiness. The taco shell is made out of lightly fried nori which added a wonderful crunchy component to the texture! Overall I think I liked the salmon one slightly better... I couldn't really taste the truffled jalapeño butter in the hamachi one.“
“Such a hidden gem! Cozy atmosphere and creative menu items. A satisfying beverage menu rounds it out. We particularly enjoyed the Kobe beef short rib roll and the Seiyo veggie roll, but you really can't go wrong. This South End staple is closing October 31st. Visit while you still can!“
“If you're seeking an authentic sushi experience in South Boston, Sushi Moka is unparalleled. Beyond its fresh offerings, what sets it apart is the personal touch. Every visit feels like a reunion; the staff not only remembers your face but also your favorite dishes. This level of recognition and attention to detail makes dining here truly memorable and authentic.“
“This is one of our top favorite restaurants in the Boston area. Since we discovered it a couple of years ago we have been dining here wirth family and/or friends at least 10 times, and we'll keep coming. Quality and service is consistently superb. The manager is very kind and personable, and our favorite waiter (Adam) is just great. Some highlight items we highly recommend: XO Toro tuna, A5 wagyu, softshell crab tempura, yellowtail and king salmon sashimi, and the unique Japanese uni/quail egg 'shots'.“
“I think this was a solid 4/5 stars experience. It was better than just okay, but not like "wow, I'm in love." Admittedly, I've only started to appreciate sushi in the past couple of years, but I have a clue.I got the salmon roll and the spicy tuna roll, and I thought they were good but not great. The salmon had a nice texture but a bit of a fishy taste. The spicy tuna was better -- not very spicy though, which is fine for my Midwest palate. I'm glad I got two rolls, because the rolls were pretty small.I thought this was good, but slightly less tasty than the pre-packed sushi rolls I get at the supermarket sushi counter -- and I'm not talking about Whole Foods here -- I'm talking about Meijer, our supermarket chain in Michigan. The sushi rolls we make at home are way better. I went there with a co-worker from California, and she thought it was pretty good, if that helps.Still...good, not great. Four stars.“
“A lot of the shops in this spot have a hole-in-the-wall vibe. Avana Sushi used to be a go-to spot for me because the sushi was decent for the price. Dining in can be uncomfortable, as there are only a few stools around a small stall, so I prefer take-out. However, you can contribute a drawing to the iconic paper plate wall if you sit down. You can’t go wrong with a spicy salmon/tuna maki roll, but I like the special rolls more, specifically the Spicy Red Sox Maki or Spicy Mountain Roll. Grab dessert from the egg puff lady to the right.“
“Great place! Very clean & the staff is very friendly! The sushi is absolutely delicious! I got the beef bento box... Is was delicious & a great deal.. large portion! I also got the volcano roll! It was delicious! I will definitely be going back! Very humble people! Please give them a try!“
“My sister and I are both vegan and we’re extremely happy with not only the quality and taste of the food, but also our wonderful server. She was very thoughtful making sure our food was vegan and explaining the portion sizes to us. We left stuffed full of yummy food and a smile on our faces. A must eat!Dietary restrictions: Vegan options“
“Very traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine served in a classic traditional setting. Most importantly the raw fish was extremely fresh and authentically sourced and prepared. They’d a raw octopus appetizer which was delicate and delicious, the sweet shrimp was super sweet, and the baby yellowtail was like butter. The uni from Maine was more like sweet Japanese uni and better tasting than San Diego uni. The hamachi kama was a treat and huge. This is as good as best sushi in Tokyo and very fresh and authentic, yet unbeatable prices especially for Boston.“
“Absolutely my favorite place around here for chicken teriyaki or sushi! Really hits the spot for fresh salmon sashimi and chicken teriyaki sauce is delicious. The bubble tea is great here too. Very fresh and everything tastes great every time I come! Only suggestion is to add more tables inside so people can sit and eat!“
“We had our anniversary dinner here as it was one of our first date spot dinner places as the restaurant opened in 2019. The experience and food did not disappoint. We had the signature omasake, with some cocktails. Each plate was prepared with care and attention and we loved every single bite.Thank you all for the service!“
“We came across this quaint, stylish restaurant when seeking wonderful Japanese food with a hint of Asian flavor.Their curry beef and beef teriyaki are excellent. But the seafood noodle shocked us the most. It tasted great! Additionally, their boba tea made a fantastic aperitif.I am eager to return.“
“I have eaten at Crudo many times now and every time I go it is an incredible experience! They have amazing cocktails and high-quality food that is so good every time. I definitely recommend checking out this cute restaurant in the North End!“
“Visited on NYE before the foreworks and this place provided a great opportunity to rest before the main event. However, what surprised me was how good the Shrimp noodle tasted, probably the best I ever had and I had to order again, forcing my friends to order round two too ?. Definitely recommend the shrimps.“
“Great selection of veggie rolls and appetizers for vegetarians. I got the Veggie Combo Deluxe, which included a mix of veggie rolls such sweet potato, asparagus, cucumber, avocado, and sweet tofu. The miso soup was also delicious. Can't wait to visit here again. The food was fresh and tasty. Service was great as well. There is a single person public restroom in the back.Vegetarian options: several vegetable maki rolls and would recommend the veggie deluxe for large assortment.“
“Lovely neighborhood spot with truly authentic Chinese dishes! I was impressed at the quality of the food and menu. They have quite a few specialty Chinese dishes and the Chinese eggplant with garlic sauce (鱼香茄子) was really well made!Servers are always wonderful and kind - particularly Peter. Sometimes you need to call them to get their attention but that's also the nature of a neighborhood spot - I'd rather that than have someone hovering.Shun's is also very accommodating of nut and gluten allergies - they are able to make modifications and substitutions with no problems.Prices are a little bit higher than what you might see in Chinatown, but still far better than what you'd find at other South End spots nearby. This spot is always a bit empty, and would love to see it fill up!! There is also an exceptionally well-stocked bar - imagine the possibilities.Hope you get a chance to enjoy Shun's soon!!Dietary restrictions: Able to accommodate nut free and gluten free easily, with easy substitutions available (e.g., rice noodles)“
“North End Fish and Sushi is the best sushi in all of Boston. NEFS has average appetizers, we got the gyoza. As for the entree you can’t find better. The Massachusetts Roll is the meaning of this great state. It has cooked Salmon and avocado on it. There is always a dollop of salmon on the side which is a nice little treat. Now talking raw sushi I highly recommend the Tuna with Avocado and Cucumber. It is hands down the best Tuna roll (so I’ve been told). Lastly if you are a vegan the sweet potato roll is so good. Usually they get a little soggy but these stayed impact. If you are in Boston and looking for great Sushi come take a look at this hole in the wall (literally a hold underground). You won’t be disappointed with this 4.6 out of 5 spot #massrollrocks“
“This ramen house is just across the commons park. We came in the middle of afternoon where there is no customer but us. Their menu is online and you can order and also pay online. It’s easy and quick. The service is quick and good taste good. If you are looking for a good noodle soup you can try this place. I love my tonkatsu ramen. You can make it spicy or just ordinary.“
“Located near gate C19, it’s a great place to grab a quick meal during layovers. I got the Shojonator Burger with Fries and it’s pretty good. The portion isn’t huge but that’s a good thing (specifically in this case) because it wouldn’t make you feel too bloated during your next flight.“
“Ignore your intrusive thoughts of eating in a food hall.. this is a must try. Flavor and food is remarkable. Service could be quicker but nothing worth writing home about. Flavor profile was strong, fulfilling — come hungry; ask questions and enjoy ◡̈“
“Surprisingly good sushi and not too expensive. The black dragon roll was good. The agedashi tofu and takoyaki were good as well. The unagi don is not the best, not typical of how it’s served. Good drinks. Only thing it’s missing is skewers for more bar food.“
“Food: The crab rangoon is a must! Some of the best I’ve ever had. The lobster tempura roll and the spicy Red Sox roll were outstanding. The edamame was also good.Atmosphere: A cozy, colorful interior with enjoyable music, offering single seating along a long, bar-like table, and also booth seating. There’s also a fun table built into the front window nook to accommodate a larger group.Service: Super quick and friendly service. Our order was taken promptly, and the appetizers were also delivered quickly, hot and fresh.“
“I had a two-protein (tuna and salmon) poke bowl with brown rice base. It was very good and service was very fast. There were a lot of additional topping options and there’s a very small seating area if you want to dine in. I highly recommend the place for a good value and quick dinning option.Vegetarian options: Just build a custom bowl and choose the vegetarian toppings you want!“
“The most amazing ramen I have ever had! I loved it so much the broth was so rich bold and delicious. I went with family and we all loved our food. My mom lit up the moment she ate it. We had an amazing time. The waiters were very attentive and funny too. Had a delightful time.“
“I LOVE SYMPHONY SUSHI. This is one of my go to spots to eat at and bring family/friends to. The food is always 10/10 and super reliable. The waiters are so nice and attentive. They also recognize their regular costumers. The space is very nice and they are always playing nice music. Even when they are busy the wait time is not long because they are very efficient.“
“came here on a sunday evening with some friends. the restaurant seemed very empty and the workers greeted us with a bright smile when we walked in. i don't know why this place is empty! their sushi was fantastic. so fresh and delicious. i love salmon and theirs melted in my mouth with every bite. just delicious. miso soup was great too, perfect for cold weather. yummy takoyaki as well. will come here again.“
“Food was Awesome! We got the shrimp Katsu bao, wagyu bao, shrimp shumai, spicy tuna on crispy rice, sweet potato roll, snow crab nigiri, lobster tempura roll, and lychee martini. All were phenomenal and good portions ? music was on point and service was “
“Considering I live not too far from this eatery (all personal anecdotes aside) - the Which Came First bowl was nothing short of divine, with its well-arranged, exquisitely accentuated array of ingredients (eggs, chicken, mushrooms, etc.)! Without any reasonable doubt, I'd definitely consider returning sometime in the near future.“
“Sushi Today, is by far my favorite place to order form during quarantine. I ordered from them before quarantine whenever I would babysit for my neighbors. Even though a lot of places are busy and haven't gotten my orders wrong, sushi today has not disappointed me yet. Sushi Today is the only place I will ever order sushi from. They make eel avocado rolls, which are surprisingly rare and hard to find when looking for take-out. Overall the accuracy, taste, and packaging of my orders from Sushi Today have been awesome.“
“Recommend their Korean fish cake soup and barley tea and the rice punch. The purple potato fries are also good. It's nice that they open late and you can order Uber eats from this place for late night snacks. The soup complements the food. And their food always seem to be freshly made and prepped carefully. Although there were times they miss parts of the order from time to time, you can see they do pay close attention to details for food preparation. Not sure why they got a bad review from someone saying the price is steep. Compared to other places, the price is okay. They also have deals on Uber eats pretty often and they are more like tapas style snacks, which I think is at the right price and nice when you get combos to try variety of food. I think it would be nice to have an option for rice punch with pulp. Not sure why but maybe they got complaints about the rice pulp in the rice punch by some people who don't understand that it's supposed to have rice in it and can't appreciate the drink as it's supposed to be. But it doesn't feel whole without bits of rice pulp.“
“Loud music, uncomfortable seating, QR code menu type place. Food was awesome though !! I got udon noodles and the consistency of the noodles was great. Also got dumplings for an appetizer and they were tasty too. Super quiet at 8pm which was nice.“
“What a fantastic little sushi spot. I've lived all over Cambridge, Brookline and the South End and no sushi spot can compare to this one. Joe, the owner, is super friendly. Sushi is REALLY good here, fresh and delicious. Most of the bad reviews here are for non-sushi items. If you stick to the sushi, this place is a gem. They are also amazing about allergies. Highly recommend!“
“This is a staple must go restaurant for my sisters and I everytime we visit Boston. (We're from NYC) Their sushi quality is super fresh and their Baked Alaska Tuna Maki is absolutely amazing -- super buttery melt in your mouth quality. I always order that one, witht the Butterfly Maki and one new to try everytime (This year I tried the Prudential which was excellent). We've been here once every year for the past 8 years and the quality is still the same as we remember it each time. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They've had structural interior renovations within the past 8 years and the atmosphere is very homey. I crave for their sushi when I'm back at home in NY -- I haven't found this quality at this price. I highly recommend!“
“We got the salmon cups, which was very hearty and yummy! We also got the Botan Ebi Ikura and the Miso Butter Cod and another handroll which I forgot but all were so fresh and delicious in their own ways. We did have to wait 20 minutes to be seated since it is a small space, but it was totally worth it!“
