“food was very inventive and good, but it was lacking on actual depth of any type of flavor. The service was quite good though we had to wait five minutes to actually be seated because the there was only one person seating people. The interior is very confusing and crowded and the restaurant decor doesn’t really make sense, the fried chicken was very good and unique so was the scallion pancake however, the pho really didn’t have any flavor and they were using chicken stock for some reason so it didn’t really have much flavor.“

“Amazing food from start to finish, amazing portions, great tea, and Coffee. We read the reviews as we where looking for a place to eat breakfast. The owner is amazing, the food is phenomenal, my family and I all agreed. My kids never agree on food, we were all in a food coma.“

“We had the best time at KooKoo DC last night. They accommodated a table of 14 for my spouse's birthday and never let us feel like an imposition. The food was so fresh, authentic, and reasonably priced - I did a double take when we got the bill. I even felt like we went all-out with apps, drinks, and desserts! The owner was also so kind - we just felt so cared for the whole time and can't wait to visit again.“

“What a lovely spot! I tried the strawberry rose drink, butterfly pea lemonade, banana and egg roti, crab and cheese roti, and I stole a bite of my table-mate's chicken croissant. What worked: -- I really enjoyed both the strawberry rose drink and the butterfly pea lemonade (lemonade was my favorite, though) -- the crab and cheese roti feels like it shouldn't work and yet, it does. It was a little sweet, very savory, and came with a side of salad which helped brighten the plate -- the banana and egg roti also feels like it shouldn't work but it was great! It was like a sweet crepe without all the extra sugar -- great service! They were very kind -- it's a really cute spot. It has the cozy cafe feel while also serving meal-sized portions of food What didn't work: -- it would be nice if they expanded their savory options, especially if they included more veggie based things. Other than that, no complaints! I'd love to come again!“

“This place defines the word community. I don’t come to places twice when in DC. This has become an exception to the rule now. The owners made me feel like old friends. The staff are courtesy and professional. I had an amazing coffee. Great beer the night before and watched the WNBA playoffs. I also watched the owner serve her community when someone most bars would throw out came in then one of the owners got up and got this lady some soda. Little things like this are impressive - yes this is a bar, but it is true community demonstrated live and In person.“

“OMG, where do I start? This place is an absolute GEM. Service is incredible and the space/ambiance is top notch. Loved the music and vibe they created. Literally everything we ordered was incredible: - Goat/cheese/herb biscuit sammie: this was one of the best egg biscuit sandwiches I've ever had in my life, no joke - Turmeric labneh toast: delicious, light and unique flavors - the juice + lattes were amazing - Baked cookies: we got 3-4 varieties and they were so so so good. my favorite was the espresso chocolate cookie I can't wait to come back to DC and eat at this place again!“

“Mita Cafe is super cute! This small cafe offers both Ethiopian and Japanese eats, in addition to breakfast, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, smoothies, and juices. While in the area, we decided to try them out, and ordered: +a Strawberry with Mango smoothie - prepared with mangoes, strawberries, and bananas, made with either your choice of apple or guava juice; we opted for the latter +an order of Spicy Lentil Samboosas - they also have spicy chicken as a filling, too; these are larger than the usual sized sambusas; super crispy, but I thought the filling was way too spicy! +a Tokyo Sushi set - this came with 4 pieces of salmon nigiri, a tuna nigiri, a red snapper nigiri, a roll of salmon maki, and a roll of tuna avocado maki; I really enjoyed the salmon nigiri, and most likely will opt for requesting these only; wasn't really a fan of the maki rolls, as one that contained 'baked salmon' tasked like it was from a tin I'd love to try their paninis next time and get more of their salmon nigiri. I'd also like to try their drinks. Service was very friendly and kind! There are only about 4 tables inside, so most seem to get their orders to go, or there's a queue to get one of the tables. The place is definitely tight and cozy! Street parking is available in the area. +salmon nigiri +tasty smoothies +friendly service! +street parking available in the area“

“On thursday, I was having tea at a nearby coffee place with a friend who wanted to go to that place specifically. I realized I needed something more substantive so I googled a place nearby. That's how I came across Between the Bread. The greeting was very warm, welcoming, and friendly. They told me about their place. I had the 3 layered seafood on sourdough and some potato salad. They have a lovely array of desserts. I wish that I had went ahead and gotten a slice of the carrot cake.Be sure to visit them and see what they have to offer that you might like.“

“Mixture Food Hall offers a variety of vegan foods, desserts, drinks, organic supplements, oils & herbs, play areas, arcade machines & including sport TV monitors, seating areas,180° bar area, upperstairs lounge space, 5 individual restrooms, parking space. The only downside was that baby strollers couldn't be rolled into from sidewalk & had to lift up the stairs. The art moral could be used for a photo background.Vegetarian options: They offered Musa's fried oyster mushroom sandwiches & a variety of sides; tacos qucidillas; bar beers & drinks; burgers; wings & salads. My son didn't like Musa food due to too salty fried oyster mushrooms & salty fries were overcooked. The wait staff was professional; followed food safety guidelines & customer service oriented.Parking: Small to mid-size cars & suvs use space but tight parking spaces.Kid-friendliness: They offered a play area including a table & 4 metal kid chairs with educational toys & games; a loga board game, arcade machine & shooting arcade game.“

“Literally my favorite restaurant in the world. I have been going there since they were in their previous location in College Park, and the food has been consistently amazing for these last 20ish years. Their menu offers extensive options for omnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans alike, with the flexibility of omitting fish sauce from their Burmese dressing. If you like bitter, complex flavors, you HAVE to try their green tea leaf salad.“

But I'm not surprised, since the food they make is incredible. The sandwiches left me speechless, to say they were good is a huge understatement. The hot chocolate they serve was also delicious. Ideal to warm up on cold days.I would definitely return to Washington just to have breakfast here.Great!!“

“Büna has quickly become one of my favorite cafes of all time. The people who work there are so kind and remember your name and order and work to make your experience enjoyable and catered to you specifically. The food (both Ethiopian and American) is absolutely fantastic. Everything I’ve had has been a slam dunk. I am not someone who orders takeout almost ever and I’ve made an exception for this cafe. I keep coming back for the Ethiopian vegan rolls, fir fir side dish and brunch platter! Wish I could take this place everywhere I go!“

“The staff was very friendly. I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. They have an assortment of baked goods and other food. I had the overnight oats, which were pretty good. I also had a coffee, but I didn't love the flavour. I think it might be a matter of taste. I think this place is worth a try!“

“Pretty crowded on Saturday afternoons, but that's to be expected. There were several tables to sit at and fortunately, it didn't take me too long to find something. They get their beans from Small Planes (one of my favorite DC coffee roasters) and their Honduras pour over (for 5.00) was smooth and enjoyable. I also got a chocolate croissant (for 6.00) to pair with it which was quite tasty. Overall, solid coffee and pastries here and the atmosphere was lively. Also, Capitol Hill is a great neighborhood to visit and enjoy a snack/coffee break!“

“I’ve tried them all. Elle, the Den, Emissary, Tatte, Buna, 1990s cappuccinos at the Willard. Gotta hand it to the Den at #2, also an excellent experience. But Doubles is #1.Best coffee in DC when they get it right. Get a latte “for here” in one of their thick ceramic mugs and sit out in the warm Spring air on their covered patio. What a way to spend a Sunday.“

“We always choose Johnny's All American to showcase a lively neighborhood bar to our clients. The decor, paying homage to the owner's grandfather's army service and community involvement, is truly impressive. Witnessing a person's legacy reflected in the intricate details on the walls and artwork adds a special touch to the overall experience. It's a unique and meaningful atmosphere that resonates with both history and community spirit.“

“Coffee was excellent but what sold it for me was the service. They made sure my coffee was exactly what wanted: sweetness, enough milk, etc. I was a to go order and the gentleman working the front was still very attentive. I will be returning :)“
“If you're a fan of the arts, Maketto is the place to be in DC! I was traveling here for a concert and was looking for a good coffee shop to stop by to, but Maketto has sooo much more! “Foods pretty good, service is fine. But the main reason to come to the Nude Eel is the MUSIC. They have great bands. And they are careful to keep the volume down - I hate places where the music drowns out everything. I love this place and hope it will be there forever.“

“$1 coffee is the best thing I’ve ever seen! Yes, you can get an 8oz cup of coffee for only $1. That means you can get 40 ounces of coffee here for the same price as a 12oz cup from Starbucks! That alone deserves 5 stars. The food is also very well priced, and you can get breakfast for only $3 (or less). The spaces is also good for chilling or studying by yourself or in a group. If I lived close by, I would probably come here every day ??♀️“

“I know what you're thinking: this is a a coffee bar located in the lobby of an apartment building. It can't be that great, can it? Well, you would be wrong. This is my neighborhood coffee spot and I have been here so many times I've lost count. The coffee you get here is consistently well made. I haven't had everything on the menu, but the breakfast items (pastries and made-to-order dishes) are top notch. The funfetti cookie and classic breakfast sandwich deserve special mention. The front of house staff are incredibly nice and usually down to chat as much or as little as you'd like as they make your drink. Even better, this is now one of the first locally owned and operated coffee shops in the DC area where the workers have come together to bargain and set standards for their working conditions with management. It's well known that union-made coffee inherently tastes better because you know that baristas have power and a voice when management inevitably starts to cut corners and prioritize the profits of their budding coffee empire over the health and safety of their employees. (I don't know the owners, I just know how incentives work.) So sip in solidarity, my friends! If the quality declines here it'll be because management has decided to cultivate a hostile work environment to try and undermine the solidarity and hope it's employees have worked so hard to build.“

“Wow. I’m literally writing this review in their parking lot because I didn’t want to forget. I have found my new favorite breakfast spot! I would dare to say this is the best iced americano I’ve ever had, and then there’s the sandwich. I got a bacon egg and cheese croissant ? Perfection. This was my first time but will definitely not be my last! The women working were all super friendly and efficient, and the decor was so cute. I took pictures because I love a good miniature set (didn’t get a pic of the food because I ate it too fast whoops!)“

“Really cute spot. Hit or miss on business. This is the second time I've come and the first time it was SLAMMED like uncomfortably so this time was great, much less people and able to order and get food within a timely manner. We did order downstairs and they brought it up to the roof top (which is ADORABLE) for us. Water is self service. We got the chicken wrap and the Cuban, neither came with sides and they were both around $13.50 which I think is pricey especially for no sides included. Did i leave feeling full and was the food good? Yes. Overall good spot with lots to do around it.“

“The food is consistently very good I love the tea service and the very large dining room downstairs. The staff are usually helpful and somewhat friendly. I wouldn't say the food is great value but it's a decent value for current Washington DC prices. The Teaism brew shop next-door, which I never realized was there until 2024 because the signage is so inconspicuous, has some really fantastic selections. Their buyer/curator has excellent taste !“

“I love Timgad Cafe! I have been their weekly customer for the past two years and guarantee that it's one of the best coffee shops in the area. Although their espresso could use some dialing, the coffee shop's ambiance and friendliness of staff members is unparalleled. I normally get their dulce de leche Cafe Timgad, which is a sweet and silky milk coffee. The coffee is normally $6-7. They also carry sandwiches, baked goods, tea, juices, etc. with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. It's a few steps away from the Federal Triangle metro stop and close to many restaurants. Grab a bite nearby and enjoy a delicious coffee right after. This place is a hit for federal workers in the area!“

“We are so glad to see this cafe do well in our neighborhood. I believe in cafes in every neighborhood. We walk our dog every morning and grab hot chocolate and coffee when we walk by this place. They have recently redid their interiors. Looks much spacious now and very welcoming. With my drinks, I often get their samosa or spinach puffs. It's so good. For lunch, my go to is their Ethiopian combo. They have 5 different veggies and recently added meat as well. Absolutely delicious! Depending on how busy they are, expect to wait for the Ethiopian entree. Worth it.“
