Sadly the lamb appetizer was over cooked and the prime rib was chewy. Not great. It was also served with burnt hummus. Our waitress was good to me but seemed irritated with us that the steak wasn’t great. We won’t be rushing back any time soon. But we love Detroit and trying new restaurants.“
“My husband and I took my mom for her birthday dinner, and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is upscale and yet relaxing. Gavin was our server, and he made great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the wine list. We had a fun chat about the Culinary Institute of America. And he shared his love of food and wine. The menu is extensive, and all of the food was heavenly. We had the most delicious steaks (cooked to perfection), crab, fresh vegetables with creamy rich sauces, mushrooms were fabulous, and the risotto was perfection! We had strawberries flambé, lemon tart, and crème brûlée. They were all perfectly balanced with rich and bold flavors. The meal was perfectly paced, and Gavin made our evening very special. We intended to just ask one of the servers if he could alert our server we were ready to order but he ended up taking our order for us rather then having us wait and he was very helpful with the menu and very informative. We also met I believe the supervisor or manager after he came to our table and he too was very personable and kind. My husband and I really enjoyed the food and the vibe of the restaurant itself was lively and welcoming. Great drinks! “This place has a "wow" factor for it food. They're menu lists a lot of made-from-scratch dishes. They claim their Mac and Cheese is the best around. Ha! I was skeptical at best, but they are having a special where if you order two entries for a total of twenty bucks, you get a crock free. So, what the heck! Oh. My. Gosh. They are RIGHT!!! We've had a lot of M&C and this, by far was the best!! They use heavy cream plus different cheeses and the result is *Heaven in a Crock." I'm not kidding. I was assured that every crock is made fresh, individually, and from scratch! It was amazing.So many of their dishes are so delish. My husband loved his kielbasa and kraut. He's also tried their shrimp and sausage stir fry and fish and chips - all were wonderful. I've had the fish and chips as well and their spaghetti with marinara sauce and, again, both were excellent.I'm taking away one star because their chicken picatta was very dry. We made a reservation for Saturday evening, place was not packed we were seated in the downstairs area by the bar clean neat decor with NOLA vibes. Our server was great she recommended the oysters based on your preference and suggested the beef tartar as an appetizer. For main dish we opted for shrimp risotto and chefs special that evening was sea-bass with crusted vegetables. Outstanding fish was buttery and flaky and risotto had ton of flavor. Dessert was an interesting combination of sponge cake soaked up with caramelized pears just wow!! They also have a live jazz music upstairs. Great experience absolutely worse a drive. “Nicks country oven is the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. I stopped in for my lunch break and ordered the gyro omelette with freshly cut potatoes, white toast and coffee. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The staff is absolutely friendly and always have the biggest smiles on their faces. I felt so welcomed. I’m happy I found this restaurant and will be making this my regular spot for the days I forget my lunch for work. (Hopefully I forget my lunch more often). Every time a plate was brought to our table, the server would already be walking away, while describing the contents of the dish. When we would wave the server down to ask a question, he never fully stopped at our table and didn’t wait to see if we had any other questions. He just walked away. It's fried, but not greasy at all, and it's flaky because it's fresh (no squishy fish here, thank God) Every dinner is served with pickles, coleslaw, French fries and soup so the value is ridiculous. They also don't lack condiments (malt vinegar included) which I appreciate. The inside of the Yacht Club genuinely looks like the Cigar Lounge of a Country Club. I love it. Small, casual with old school elegance. And the service gives off that same vibe. It's like you're in a cigar lounge only with no smoking and excellent food.
