Freemason Grub & Pub is no exception.The signage is challenging in the dark, but the exterior green lights likely leftover from St. Patty's helped identify them. It's an adorable two story brick with wonderful character. Parking is off street or in their own small lot in the rear.My wife and I cut our arrival a bit close after 830 with a weekday closure of 9. The interior offers a cozy vibe with wood floors, exposed brick and dimly lit dining room . The bourbon bar is the centerpiece. With closing in 20 minutes the restaurant was mostly empty.Our friendly waitress Bella was on top of drink orders. I ordered an Old Fashioned utilizing Makers bourbon with a banana flavor profile. It proved to be outstanding @ $14. Bella encouraged us to try their bbq which they are known for, we ended up both getting the Cherrywood Brisket. My wife with side of Cesar and me side of cup of chili for $1 up charge. The recommendations really made the difference.Bella brought the food out within 15 minutes. Temperatures were correct. The brisket was magnificent. Tender with fat to meat ratio. The house sauce was perfect with a slight kick. The cup of chili was yum with Navy Bean and frito corn chips on top that was unusual. My wife agreed with my assessment on the brisket and her salad was fresh.We finished out splitting a butterfinger pie which was good size for the share. It proved to be mighty tasty and not a crumb was left.Our bill was brought to us in a timely fashion to close out. Since we were out of town Bella suggested a few other local places. We had noted my alpha-gal allergy on the reservation and Cameron came prepared with a hand written list of mammal-free options from the menu! My allergy makes eating out a challenge and I’ve had other restaurants treat me like questions/accommodations were a burden, so the fact that she did that for me meant SO much! She recommended a boneless wing sauce to my husband that turned out to make for the best boneless wings we've ever had (and his standards for those are sky high). The chicken was fresh, tender, and the bourbon molasses sauce was absolutely delicious. The fried pickles as an app were good - the batter would have benefitted from a little more seasoning, and overall a little more flavor would have made them perfect, but overall enjoyable! I got a grilled chicken club, which I really enjoyed. The croissant was fluffy and soft, and the grilled chicken itself was perfectly cooked. The fries were awesome - well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and crispy. “We ended up at Sammy G's for the first time in a very long time this past weekend. It was a Saturday evening so I was expecting a wait but luckily we were able to grab a table quickly. Our server was very good and attentive. The restaurant was busy but the wait staff stayed polite, attentive, and kind. The meal starts with these little rolls that hit the spot if you come in hungry. My husband picked the Blackened Salmon Sandwich with the chips. He said it had such a great taste and the blackening was the perfect level. I tasted one of his chips and they were perfectly crisp. I ordered the Tavern Chicken which comes with mashed potatoes and corn, as well as a side salad. My Caesar side salad was very good--the salad was well dressed and the dressing wasn't too "goopy" or heavy. My only super minor complaint was the salad took a bit to come out, and our server brought us more bread in the interim. The chicken was sheer perfection! I was hesitant about the tomato (they aren't my favorite) but the tomato added the perfect amount of acid which added to the flavor. The corn might be my favorite! If they gave out the recipe, I'd take it! Looking back, I'd ask for corn instead of the potatoes, they were just that good!“
“The gem is tucked away in the shopping center off Battleground with Trader Joe's and Gold's Gym. My hubby and I had just completed a workout, so what better thing to do then get some food immediately after. Hey, we earned it. I hadn't been here before, but my husband spoke highly of it. I like sandwiches so was game. There was a good amount of people in line on a Saturday so a good sign. It's a simple restaurant. You order at the corner. Most get their subs to go, like we did, but they do have some tables if you wanna eat there. First thing I noticed was they had a lot of options. Truly a sub for any preference. They had the classics like Reuben, Meatball, and cold cuts as well as more unique offering like Buffalo Chicken Ranch and Gyro. You could come here often and try something new each time. I went classic for my first visit and got an Italian footlong on wheat. You can get a 6" or 12". I noticed that my 12" was actually going to be two 6" sandwiches. While this surprised me at first, I kind of liked it. It probably helped to motivate me to stop eating after I consumed the first one and save the other for the next day. The Italian was available cold or toasted and I could add any available toppings and sauces I wanted. They have all the standard options but some fancy extras like roasted red peppers. I got those as well as provolone, lettuce, onion, and oil and vinegar. Our subs were quickly assembled, wrapped up, and given to us to enjoy at home. The staff were efficiently and friendly. There is nothing fancy about these subs and the photos may not be the most exciting, but it was a tasty sandwich. The various meats on my Italian were good and the veggies fresh. They did not skimp on any ingredients and as I said a 6" was enough to fill me up. The other 6" also heated nicely to be enjoyed the next day. My husband got the Chicken Philly. I took a few bites and it was also good. I can see why the Sub Spot is a popular place and if you just wan't a good simple sub, it's a solid option.“

“I've been sitting on writing this review for awhile, probably longer than I should, but I still remember the evening pretty well and recently came across the photos that I had yet to post, so here goes nothing! But that is kind of the point, a restaurant like Marisol should leave you anxious to go home and tell others about what a great eating experience you had. In my case, while the food overall was good, I wasn't taken aback by anything, and at this price point, I feel that I should have been. Things started off really well, the server was eager to explain the restaurant and menu, and stayed very attentive throughout. Honestly, for my taste, overly attentive. But it's not a big place, and also wasn't very busy, so it makes sense he would have stayed vigilant with us. After ordering drinks, we received a small starter of goat cheese on crostini with some bruschetta, a nice way to kick things off. Then, one of the highlights, the basket of incredible breads was presented to us. If he had left the basket at the table, we probably would have run through it all, but we did have a few pieces with butter, that were beyond excellent. The appetizer course was fantastic. Flash fried buttermilk shrimp, house made gravlax, tomato pie, cavatelli, and a duck special. The tomato pie, I honestly wish i could have ordered a larger slice for my entrée, because I could eat that every day. The gravlax was kind of like eating lox, and I dug the texture with the crispy bread and shmear. The shrimp were plump, but given the price, nothing about them set them apart from fried shrimp elsewhere. The duck.. I said earlier about the tomato pie, maybe just give me the duck and tomato pie for an entrée, I would have been happy. For my main, i got the blackened NC mountain trout, and like others at my table, this is where the meal started to fall flat. The trout just didn't set itself apart in any way, other than the fish being clearly fresh. The blackening didn't add much flavor, nor did the sauce that it came with. For this being the supposed centerpiece of our experience, it was disappointing. I found myself wishing I got the duck breast that someone else had. For dessert, we shared the vanilla bean creme brulee and the bread pudding. The crème brûlée was well executed, which is no ordinary feat, so big props for that. The bread pudding however was the total opposite. I have never really encountered dry bread pudding before, but this was it. Even though it was covered in chocolate sauce (would have just liked a dish of that) and ice cream, still somehow dry to the bone. I was surprised the waiter didn't ask about it, given it was barely touched by all of us, and he had been so attentive to everything else. In the end, for the money, I don't know that I would return. As I said earlier, at this price point, it kind of needs to be great from top to bottom. Some of it was, but the most important part was kind of pedestrian. I could definitely see myself coming back for drinks and apps though!“

Our server was great she was very attentive and helpful. When my wife was having trouble choosing between 2 wines she brought her samples of each to help.My wife had a glass of wine and I had a spiced Manhattan that was on their drink specials. The Manhattan was great best one I had had in a long time. Bartender was nice enough to show me what she used so I could replicate at home.We had a rosemary half loaf for an appetizer and it was very good not overpowering but the bread and the rosemary butter complimented each other.We stuck with sandwiches we had a steak and cheese wrap and the billy bob sandwich. Fries for one side and cole slaw for the other. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Fries were solid and the Cole slow was a mayo base and alot of liquid which we like. The billy bob has a Fried green tomato, gouda pimento cheese and bacon. It was really good. If I came back I would have a burger with the Gouda Pimento cheese because I loved that and think it would compliment it well.Loved the visit and dinner and will definitely be back when we are in the area. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great and we now have a number of other items we are looking forward to trying.“
