“Entering The Flying Biscuit Cafe felt like stepping into a cozy haven, where the anticipation of a delightful brunch experience came to mind.As I took my first bite of the French toast, it was as if I was tasting a cloud – airy, light, and delicately sweet. The raspberry sauce drizzled atop, accompanied by a dollop of creamy goodness, elevated each forkful into a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds.True to its name, The Flying Biscuit did not disappoint in the biscuit department. Each golden-brown creation was a masterpiece of flakiness and warmth. Pairing it with a generous swirl of raspberry sauce only enhanced its already divine taste, leaving me in culinary bliss. However, the steak failed to meet my expectations. It seemed lacking in flavor, as if it hadn't been given the chance to truly marinate and develop its potential. The absence of seasoning left it feeling underwhelming, despite its promising appearance. On the bright side, the eggs provided a comforting contrast with their soft, velvety texture, adding a touch of familiarity to the meal.To complement the feast, I opted for a Blueberry Lemonade Mimosa, a refreshing concoction that perfectly balanced the tanginess of blueberries with the zesty kick of lemonade. It was the ideal accompaniment to my brunch adventure, leaving me thoroughly satisfied and ready to face the day ahead. #GratuityAdded#charlottesgotalot #MatthewsNC#MatthewsEats #clteats #foodiesofclt #cltfoodies #OfflineClt #followforafollow #exploreclt #eatdrinkclt #CLTNewEats #charlottefood #leapyear #Eclipse24 #exploreMatthews #cltfoodie #foodie #keeppounding #charlotteeats #eatdrinkclt #OfflineCharlotte #TheFlyingBiscuit #charlottefoodscene #cltfoodbloggers #springtime #charlottefoodies #cltagendaParking: Just drive around until you find a spot. “My Dad ordered the haddock with okra and apples. The piece of fish, and there was only one, was so small it looked liked it was from the kids menu. They should have been ashamed to serve that on a reg plate. Never again will our family order that. The restaurant was so cold a man warned us to bring in a sweater as he was leaving. Luckily I asked to be close to the fire and I stood in front of fireplace until food was brought out. The chicken tenders with the new sauce was excellent.“
“A complete gem! What a gorgeous place!!! Staff are hip and knowledgeable and the food is beyond incredible...kind of feels like you're in The Leaky Cauldron if you know what time it is!!! Hit this place up and COAST into an extraordinary evening. Or brunch it up sexy animal!!! Smoked Deviled eggs will hit you like.... ?“
“Multilevel restaurant tucked in BOA! We sat near the open kitchen and it was great. You could see the items being made and the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. It's dimly lit, so it gives warm and cozy vibes. We I didn't know it was an a-la-cart menu till we got there. So check the full menu when before you go! There's not a huge California wine selection; it's more international with France/Italy/Argentina leading the way. I kept it simple with a smooth Rosé (Faísom) from France. We had the Potato Gnocchi with Braised Beef in a tomato sauce. Thie didn't need sides. It came as a whole meal unto itself. The Gnocchi were tender and not gummy, the meat robust as it was Sous vide. The herb marinated shrimp, Calabrian Chili Butter, was delectable. The pan-fried corn had a nice crisp bite, well seasoned and buttery. I didn't care gor the Brussels Sprouts. I was hoping they were good as it was they're halved/grilled and loaded with Bacon, Cashews, Provolone, and a Sherry Vinegar. They feel flat. They needed a sauce or drizzle of balsamic and seasoning. Now, the Mac-n-Cheese was hitting. They add goat milk, which elevated the flavor. It does provide a slight tang. I would have never thought to add that. There's a traditional cheese crust and absolutely no breadcrumbs ( Thanks). We rounded it off with the Spiced cheesecake with praline topping and fresh whipped cream. It was a delectable and delicious dinner with great service“
“I was seated inside at a not very busy time. I sat there 10 plus minutes without anyone saying anything to me. I believe that I saw at least 3 servers and most tables were already eating. I had been in a flying biscuit and probably never will. Oh I need to add that I decided to leave“
“What a lovely experience we had here. We celebrated our anniversary and from the start they went out of their way to make us feel special. We got a little card from the restaurant wishing us a happy anniversary. We decided to get a bottle of wine, and the Sommelier was in the house that night and came over and extensively talked to us about the wine choices, and ended up helping us choose such a delicious bottle. It was so fun to be able to use that service. The food was so incredible. For start, we got the roasted oysters (absolutely delicious) and the 7 layer salad (crisp and refreshing, but could have used a little bit more dressing but still very yummy). For our meal, we got the pork shank that was on special and the poulet rouge. Our sides were the Mac and Cheese, mushroom risotto, and the Brussels. Everything was soooo incredible! The sauce on the chicken was delicious, the Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, the pork shank was so rich and had a delicious dark gravy on it. We stuffed ourselves so full and savored every single bite. For dessert we got the mud pie and they also brought out some cute little macarons for our anniversary. Delicious as well! The service was incredible and we never had to wait for anything. The food came quickly and they were always on top of changing our plates and silverware. Our water cups were always full and we got continuous top offs of our wine. Everyone was extremely nice. It was just so lovely.Highly recommend if you want a fancy night out. I truly feel that it was well worth the money. Thanks again!“
“I went with a group tonight. The service was excellent and the food came out quickly. I had hanger steak which if you are lucky you will find in a grocery store but most likely you will not. It is a tender piece that is quite delicious. They had a nice light sauce with it. I shared brussel sprouts with a friend. They were roasted and had a crunchy flavorful topping. Roosters always delivers in my experience consistently excellent food. I ordered for takeout a velvet cake with chocolate mousse. It was yummy. It looked besutiful. How can you lose with sugar and chocolate? We had a great experience and will be back!“
“Great local restaurant and consistently one of our favorites! Diverse menu with multiple healthy options and things that can modified as needed. Superior quality of all food items coupled with exceptional service - all very consistent!!! We had the crab cakes, side of collard greens, salmon on lentils/kale, and a side of roasted butternut squash with brussel sprouts - each dish perfectly cooked, excellent flavors.“
“My sister and I had an amazing meal here. We really enjoyed our time here and our meal here from our yummy food to our really good drinks. The space and environment is really nice also. Overall this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Charlotte. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“
“Just had a delicious lunch at The Southern Pecan. I had the shrimp po’ boy, which was served with a side of fries. Soooo good. Luckily it was too much food so now I have dinner already prepared. Service was excellent - shout out to Lilly!“
“Consistently good. I usually get dinner to go. Packaged well, order is always correct and still piping hot by the time I get home. Service is friendly and fast. Never had a bad meal here.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat parking lot. Easy in and out.“
“Wow! The hype was real! I had to check out this place before they shut down on Sunday. The Ma Duke's plate w/catfish was delicious! Some of the best fish ever! Bubba chucks were awesome... light and fluffy. The stewed greens tasted great although a lil' too much sauce. The field pea slaw was like regular slaw. Jimmy sauce was tasty! Nice atmosphere eating at their bar. Very glad I was able to experience Jimmy Pearls. Best wishes to these guys in their next endeavor!!!“
“Copied from my other account that I am closing out to consolidate all here. A truly wonder place for upscale special intimate dining in NC's Queen City. "A rather pricey experience but wonderful for romantic special occasion / dinning / date / celebrating. Two 4 course meals with wine came to $550. -- In home built by the Vanderbilts. Residence of Charlotte Mayor McNinch back in 1890s. His ancestors renovated the house and with it did it historically correct. Original glass in the windows, warbly. Authentic touches. Routinely rated amongst America's best restaurants. The kind of sweat one's. They remedied with Martini's much better matching our desire. Appetizers and palate cleansing treats in between. Some most food was stellar and some just good have had better. The Fillet was good but not especially seasoned or tender so have had better experience elsewhere. But for the price it should be best in class. Everything else was stellar especially the service. The sommelier was pleasant, explained much with enthusiasm and professionalism. Wines were perfectly paired. I would definitely consider returning to celebrate something special."“
“If I could give them 10 stars, I would. The food was fantastic. It a sexy spot! Great for a first date or to spice up an old relationship. They even have board/card games for groups. The drinks were spot on! They can make it all... Can't wait to go back...They serve dinner as well. Best fried chicken I've had since moving to NC.“
“Came in for the first time while visiting the area, and it was delicious. The waitress knew the menu well, and made recommendations. Chicken sandwich and fries all great but the "Spoonbread" was out of this world!! Do yourself a favor and order it. Will definitely be back again when I visit.“
“I've never had a bad meal at the Flying Biscuit. We normally go to the Park Rd location but came to this location for the first time. Where there would normally be a long wait on the weekends, we got in right away because we were willing to sit at the bar. The food was prepared quickly but was still fresh and hot. I love that they offer so many non-pork options. In fact, besides bacon, they don't serve potk but they offer turkey bacon, chicken sausage and this time I tried chicken chorizo. Their grits are always creamy, the biscuits are always fluffy. I often have their biscuits and gravy because it's made with chicken sausage and its amazing and you can't find that anywhere else but the grits bowl with chicken chorizo was amazing and I'll have that again as well. You just can't go wrong.I only gave 4 stars for service because our server was nice but it was hard to get her attention and ultimately it took awhile for us to get our bill.Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for non pork esters“
“We started off with deviled eggs which hit the spot. I got the Mr. Jim combo plate with corn on the cob and potato salad. My two meats were pulled pork and cheddar jalapeno sausage. All the food was very good. The cheddar biscuits were the best part of the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and I will be back in the future. A reservation is suggested as they seem to get busy.Parking: Large lot next to the restaurant.“
“Y'all.... We just finished a group dinner at The King's Kitchen. Everything from start to finish was perfection. Rebecca helped me pick the menu since it was family style. Will and Becca served with joyful and attentive hearts. We could not be more pleased with our meal and time are The King's Kitchen.“
“I ate here and had Scottie as my server. I would highly recommend the ribs and fish combo! The Mac and cheese amazing and the cabbage is the best I’ve had! Scottie was one of the best servers I’ve ever had and he was extremely attentive even tho he was busy. He’s great with kids too!“
“My first impression was "This is my kind of place"! The front staff were polite and attentive. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, so we had a seat in the bar. If you're a bourbon enthusiast, this is a great watering hole! Brittany, the bartender, makes a fantastic Old Fashioned! We were seated soon after and enjoyed our brunch fare. The truffle deviled eggs were DEVINE! We both had eggs Benedict. I had mine with crab, and my friend had the traditional. Everything was outstanding! From beginning to end. We will definitely be returning. 10/10“
“Service was great. Manager was excellent! He saw us sitting and waiting to order and sent a great friendly server over quickly. Brussel sprouts were not what I expected. They tasted like strong vinegar flavor which was offensive to my palate. Manager switched it to zucchini strips which were tasty. Vegetable medley was a bit different and wasn't enjoyed by my friend. She said she didn't expect the veggies to be roasted and crispy. They also included green bell peppers in the medley which she said changed whole flavor. And not in a good way. I enjoyed my food and the ambiance.“
“i LOVE this place. the workers are SOOO sweet!!! the girl with the colored hair had a great attitude towards the group i was with. she helped with all our questions on the menu and overall had a great personality. we will definitely be coming back to this location!!!!“
“A fairly good experience. My eating companion really enjoyed her salmon plate. Although she was hoping based on the title of the restaurant it would have more fish options. My gnocchi was, so so, it was very flavorful and my first time trying gnocchi. This is located in a hotel. Although many restaurants in this area are. The prices were fair about $35 per person with water to drink. The ambiance was nice. It felt safe. Side note, the bathrooms require a key. The servers were competent without being pushy or hovering. This was a good experience. I recommend!“
“Second time coming here and the food was amazing! The honey hot chicken sandwich was delicious and filling. You get a big piece of meat so I could barely finish 1/2. I also got the shrimp and chicken Alfredo. That was super delicious as well! The portion was huge so you definitely get your moneys worth and can share it. Service was nice, the owner is super cool. The food was 100/10. Yall definitely need to go!“
“Showmars is a great spot with super fresh ingredients and fast, friendly service. They have fresh salads, juicy grilled chicken, THE BEST tzatziki sauce, gyro, pitas, cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, the list goes on. You'll get a lot for your dollar as their portion sizes are pretty substantial! They are "Greek Southern" in their approach to food. They offer a casual order-at-the-counter-and-grab-a-number style dining experience which makes it perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with a group. The staff come around and make sure your drinks are refilled. Showmars is our go-to spot and I think if you give it a try, you'll agree!“
“The bartender brian, is the most laid back person ever. Maybe alittle reserved but if you get the chance to get into a conversation with him, hes a pleasure to talk too. I appreciated everything about his conversation and service! Will be back again.“
“Was visiting from out of town and ran across this restaurant. Went through the drive thru and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food, taste, and quality. Ordered the flounder and shrimp and also the classic chicken pita (not pictured). Highly recommend.“
“Consistently the best biscuits and service for any chain in the area. We drove past at least a dozen places to get breakfast there as we had the time and wanted a better experience. The only bad thing I can possibly say is I wish it was closer to home!“

With its cozy atmosphere and friendly service, Johnny K's is the ultimate destination for a morning meal that will leave you fueled up and ready to tackle the day ahead. Join us at Johnny K's and make breakfast the highlight of your day!“
“Good location for a quick meal to go or for sit-down. Service was good, no line. Inside, there is plenty of seating (tables and booths) and very well-lit. Food is always good (their salads are a go-to for me). Convenient for lunch or breakfast, is you're in the area...working or passing through.“
“Freshwaters is a great place to eat!? This delightful little family owned restaurant is tucked away in a cozy spot in uptown Charlotte. The atmosphere is a combination of classy and inviting. It's a great place to take the family for a great home-cooked meal or a perfectly fine option for a couple on a romantic date. The staff was outstanding! They were one of the friendliest and most helpful I've seen. The food was delicious and fresh. I tried several different dishes. Most were a pleasure to the palate. Some were not to my personal preference but received rave reviews from others in my party. All agreed that the cornbread muffins were a highlight. My personal favorite was the backend salmon. I look forward to trying more of the menu. As Freshwaters is definitely a new must goto restaurant, in my opinion.“
“The steak was delicious- I wish it came with other type of potatoes as the ones that come with are just big chucks with not much flavor. The burger was delicious and cooked well. The cinnamon roll in the skillet was a highlight - it was perfect for sharing and very tasty. Service was fast, accurate and the ambiance was lively.“
“This place looks a bit rough on the exterior. The best food comes out of these spots tbh. They NEVER mess my order up. My last visit I enjoyed the perch/shrimp plate with a half tea/lemonade. SOOOO good. Fried to perfections. Nice beautiful jumbo shrimp. They are not stingy with the amount of fish and shrimp.I recommend this, the double cheeseburger, onion rings, lemon pepper wings are some of the best I've ever had, and the grilled chicken chef salad is on my rotation.I eat here multiple times a month. Many times weekly.Call your order in to pickup but be aware it's little to no room to wait. The little takeout spot is usually packed with no real place to wait long stretches unless you have your car.“
“As many times as I’ve passed by this street I never knew this place was here. I had the southern bbq wrap which comes on a sun dried tomato tortilla. I was a little skeptical because of the tortilla but it was actually really good and a pretty decent size at that the apples weren’t bad either. They have a lot of options on their menu that would make you wanna try them all.“
“This review is overdue. I used Uber Eats and ordered lunch from this location on Friday, 03-10-23, but it served as dinner too on a long day. I ordered The Chick, which was a scoop of Jalapeño Holly with a side of grape salad, a small Olivia's Old South, a chocolate marshmallow crispy bar, and a slice of key lime pie. Everything was good. I hadn't had the grape salad in years, & it was as great as I'd remembered.I was using a coupon with Uber Eats & I really got a good bang for my buck with this order. While unpictured, I've since entered the restaurant for a takeout order. The staff was pleasant. Even with a short wait, they checked in with me. Looking forward to returning.“
