“I was there on a Sunday afternoon and it was surprisingly not very busy. The dining area is cafeteria style and there was plenty of seating available. I decided to go with the paneer butter Masala dosa since they only have it available on the weekends. I asked them to make it as mild as possible since South Indian food tends to be very spicy and I cannot handle the heat. The dosa was paper thin which is exactly what I wanted. The filling was delicious and I loved the coconut chutney sauce that came with it. I got the mango lassi drink and it was refreshing and delicious, just wish the drink portions were bigger. The food was very authentic South Indian and it tasted just like what I remember eating when I went to Kerala. This place is out of the way for me but I would definitely return if I'm in the area.

“I live within walking distance from Cardamom restaurant and eat there often. The food is consistently excellent, and the people are always welcoming. Highly recommended! If you're not in the neighborhood, it's easy to get there on the subway (it's right between the 40th St. and 46th St. stations on the 7 subway line on Queens Blvd).“

“The food that I got for takeout was amazingly good!!!! I got the butter chicken, garlic naan bread, and gulab jamun. I also got the mango lassi drink, and it was really good too! Service was great, didn’t take long at all for my food to be made. Pricing is decently good too, not too expensive but also not too cheap. 10/10 overall experience with everything. I will come back here again for more takeout, but next time I’m trying the chicken biryani for sure!“

“I had lunch at Kuttanadan Indian Restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience! The flavors were authentic, and the food was cooked to perfection. I ordered butter chicken which was rich in spices and full of flavor, and paired it with some freshly made parathas. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The ambiance was cozy, and the vibe of the restaurant truly reflected the warmth of South Indian hospitality. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Kerala cuisine in the city!“

“Slow service because it's always busy!! Must try all their momo. Jhol Momo was my favorite, both chicken and goat. Perfect blend of spiced soup with the savory deliciousness of the momo. Think of it as a spicy soup dumpling. Their veg thupa was warm and delicious for a cold winter night, would recommend getting it with egg.
Fried rice and noodles weren't great - wouldn't recommend.
All their Thali's looked amazing as well!“

“Delicious food and drinks! Friendly host/server. Highly recommend the fish curry and chana masala. We also had a couple of the bar bites (okra, chile paneer, cauliflower - all delicious). Small place with cute bar seating and a nice outdoor patio. Easy for takeout as well.“

“love this place and in my opinion it's the best Indian food in NYC. Place recently opened and I get takeout a couple of times a week and have dined here several times already. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful and they have a full bar. Prices are super reasonable and the owner Ali is total gentleman.“

“Overall, it was pretty good. Chili chicken momos were really good and stayed crispy even when cooked in sauce. The garlic naan was fantastic and very well made. The vegetable thali was overall really good, but the dal was a little bland, in my opinion. They're very generous with the amount of rice they give you.
I was a little disappointed by the tandoori chicken. It was a little underseasoned, and one of the pieces was very overcooked and dry. The butter chicken was made well and tasted alright; it was too sweet/not savory enough for me. Too much added sugar, personally.
Service was good.“

“I found this place on Google and drove a half hour to get there. The staff was friendly, but looked surprises that an African American walked in. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious and the price was fair. The portion was more than enough and I would highly recommend this place and I would gladly return.“

“I ordered takeout for my family of 4 and food was PHENOMENAL! The food was hot, fresh, and temperature controlled. I hate it when restaurants put salad and the hot food in the same tray. They did NOT do this. We got the lamb chops, chicken tikka and lamb tikka. They were tender and juicy! Rice was fresh and the salad crisp. Run, do not walk lol, & try them. You wont be disappointed.“

“I have been going to this restaurant since 2001. At that point it used to be only branch of this restaurant. Food has always been outstanding at this place especially momos. Service and atmosphere has a declined a bit since owners mostly concentrate on bigger branches of this restaurant. I still like this hole in a wall gem.
Parking: Parking wise its a nightmare.“

“I've been meaning to come by for ages and finally dropped by with a friend for an early Friday dinner recently. We didn't have reservations, but when we got there around 5:45 there were still a handful of tables open (it did fill up quickly shortly thereafter though).
We ordered two main dishes to share - the paneer do pyaza and the dilliwala butter chicken - and also got an order of garlic naan (comes with 4 pieces) on the side. (The curries come with a side of rice as well.)
I really loved the butter chicken - the curry was really savoury and flavourful, and paired so well with the light garlic naan, and the chicken was really tender. I would definitely recommend this dish.
The paneer was also quite yummy - the texture was lovely, each cube not too hard - and the sauce was very full and rich. This might just be my personal taste, but I did feel like there was just too much other stuff going on (peppers, onions, etc.) that the dish felt a little haphazard overall.
We also each got one of the mango lassis, which was really yummy. The mango flavour tasted very fresh and not too sweet, and I liked that the yoghurt didn't feel too heavy or thick to drink.
A very nice meal overall, albeit definitely on the pricier side. That being said, I do think the price point is reasonable for the quality (esp given NYC price standards lol). I'd love to come back with a bigger group so I can try even more of their dishes (esp the appetisers!).“
