The server, I’m not sure of his name but he was a server in the front section by the bar Wednesday around 8pm. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the wine list and knew all the details about the food we were served. The food runner ran thru each item on the food. Just incredible service. The server picked a fantastic wine I wouldn’t usually go for. The atmosphere was fire. Food 10/10. Recently moved to the area and we’ll be regulars now. Couldn’t rate this place higher. “I had heard many praises of Fish Cheeks, so we made it our first stop in NYC last summer. We overlapped with happy hour so were able to get cheaper oysters and cocktails. The restaurant was bustling at 5pm on a Wednesday.The free shrimp crackers were tasty. The oysters were $18 for a dozen for happy hour. The oysters were not the best I've had, but they were decent and I enjoyed the Vietnamese toppings. The tongue and cheek cocktail was $11, normally $17. It was quite strong and had a nice lychee flavor. Definitely worth it for the happy hour price.The shrimp in 3 crab sauce was like a ceviche with the flavors of a spring roll. It was good but lacking some dimension. It was mostly sour, spicy, and soft, but could've used some crunch and savory.The calamari was mid, pretty thick breading and sweet sauce.The Zabb wings had a tangy powdered seasoning. They were pretty good but not amazing.The Prawn Karee had tasty gravy sauce. The prawns were big but there were 3 and they were a bit overcooked. The sauce was better than the prawns.The pork belly krapow had a good crispy texture. It was maybe a bit too salty, but overall I did like this dish.The steamed fish had a similar seasoning to the shrimp in 3 crab sauce. It was quite acidic -- could be more savory and spicy for my tastes. The fish was tender.Overall, I enjoyed trying a variety of dishes. The happy hour menu is worth it. Most of the dishes felt a bit one dimensional in flavor and could've packed a stronger punch, but I'm also just not a big fan of these types of flavors in general. I was glad most of it was not overly sweet, though! The restaurant is very pleasant and the service is good.“
“This is our second time at this location ( we ate at a Mermaid in the East Village). Great addition to fine dining in Times Square which seems inundated with fast food and chain restaurants. We're fish lovers and Mermaid has lots of delicious options — crudo, ceviche, oysters, clams for appetizers, lots of fish and non fish entrees. We had a tuna entree that was wonderful. “I am a longtime New Yorker and this is my favorite restaurant in the city. I have fond memories of my dad bringing me here for special occasions when I was a little girl, and it remains as special now as it was back then. Nothing changes at Gallagher's and that's a good thing. The food is delicious. The service is spectacular. The atmosphere is homey, fancy yet not overwhelmingly so, and so nostalgic and warm. I still come here multiple times a year for all special occasions. I hope they are here forever.“

We went on a Sunday and received the following: seafood mac n cheese; hot honey oxtail sliders; blueberry cornbread and the Cater 2 U which has salmon, shrimp and crab cakes. No complaints on the food, the portion size or the customer service. Everyone is always nice. I've only met the male owner during my visits and he is the best! “Love this place! The sushi is so fresh and tasty. And reasonably priced. Free green tea pudding with Yelp check in! The pudding is topped with a spoonful of sweetened red beans. A delicious dessert! My favorite is salmon and here, it's melt in your mouth fresh and yummy. My favorite dish here is the Salmon Lover. It's salmon four ways plus a side of kani salad with some roe on top. Thick generous portions of sashimi, also has sushi, salmon avocado roll, and a grilled salmon collar (when available, otherwise you get 2 pieces of salmon belly). This place is so good, in one week, I went 3 times and still not tired of it. Not crazy about the chicken kaarage. The pieces are too small so when fried, it becomes dry and loses its juicy tenderness. Tried some skewers. A tad on the dry side. I'd stick with the sushi. Though the skewers were very popular with the kids at the table. Service. Attentive. Tea constantly being refilled. Decor. It's a small place. Lots of wood decor. The space is narrow with seating to the left and right. In front, a few private mini booth rooms covered with a curtain, line the side of the restaurant. These can seat up to 4 people. There is also a small party room downstairs. In the back, you can sit in front of the sushi chefs if you like, at a high counter.“
