“We received a gift card from a family member for $100 USD as a Christmas Present and were excited about enjoying a meal at this restaurant. The gift card was purchased directly from Joey's, not a 3rd party. We went and everything initially about the restaurant was very enjoyable. The food was very good, the service was attentive and we enjoyed our experience until the cheque arrived. When we we presented the gift card (electronically) our server went to speak with a ⁶manager and then returned to inform us that the $100 USD would be honoured in Canadian dollars. $100 USD is worth $144.50 Canadian dollars according to google when checked today. We paid the bill and tipped the service team 22% and left after effectively having $44.50 taken from us and our family member in what felt like to us, theft by conversion. The manager in question did not come to follow up after our expressing our disappointment JOEY's is already a very expensive restaurant. Further, the gift card information indicates that Joey's has US based restaurants. I'm quite sure that Canadian dollar gift cards are not accepted at par in the US. This ruined for us, what was otherwise a positive experience, through what felt like to us, an act of corporate greed and impersonal profiteering. After this experience we will not be back and sadly, I cannot recommend JOEY's as a place for anyone else to dine at. Any company that sells a gift card directly and then fails to deliver full value is patently dishonest, in my opinion.”

The culinary team also puts a lot of work into an ever-changing menu showcasing local ingredients, house-made pickled vegetables, cured meats, and preserves. On top of that, the overall atmosphere and decor is super well done. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This is must-go for anyone who is a craft beer and local food enthusiast.”

“I like it, I don’t drive so I just walk in every time. I use the touch screen and get my order brought to me with the numbers. It’s so nice and convenient and kinda makes McDonald’s feel a little upscale. McDonald’s has the best breakfast, McGriddles are goated. Hotcakes are a great sidekick and since they started getting their code from Tim Hortons old supplier they have the best coffee too. If the drive-thru pisses you off just get off your butt and calmly walk inside and politely order your food and treat these people with respect. If you can’t do that then make your own food. There is parking. If you insist on the drive-thru then speak clearly and calmly into the microphone and try to have your order ready when they speak to you and your money ready when it’s time to pay. It helps a lot when you do your part as a customer so they can do their part as workers. It’s a team effort from everyone. Also put your garbage in the garbage can, seriously you are an adult (hopefully) so don’t make unnecessary messes for other people to clean up. Let them know if the bathroom needs cleaning or more toilet paper or anything else. Communicate and say please and thank you. Fast Food 101 Class dismissed 🫡😂”

The chicken samosas were the best I have had anywhere in Ottawa, in short - awesome. The mango-ginger sauce for the samosas was also exceptional. My entrèe was the Tibetan Fried noodles with tofu. The portion was generous and carefully prepared. The spices were delightful, the vegetables were fresh, plentiful and throughout the meal rather than just placed on top. Every bite was delicious. Thank you Sula Wok for the best take-out meal I have enjoyed in years! I highly recommend this restaurant. It definitely deserves a five star rating.”

Keerthi is such a kind, respectful, supportive woman and is incredibly talented. Her pricing is great, her cake flavour combinations are delicious, she makes the best bento sized sample cakes (large enough for the whole family to do the tasting with you) and is an effective communicator. We chose a two tier cake and she knocked the look and flavours of each tier out of the park. We would definitely contact her again for future events. My go-to is their Wonton soup! It's so yummy and filling! I live in the east end but my offices are only a 10-minute walk from their location, so i was worried that the pandemic might force them to close but luckily, they are still the best hidden gem on Bank Street! Depending on my work schedule I go there once or twice a week because I crave their comfort food! I LOVE Golden Baguette!!”

First course didn't show up. Second course showed up and I asked where the first one was. They brought it after. The third course, the short rubs, was cold, as was my food the last 3 times we went there. i returned it and version 2 was better. Dessert was a very uneventful creme brulée. This is my third ( possibly 4th time) discretely providing feedback. Getting a comped dessert or small glass of wine. I was really rooting for this restaurant, but it is mismanaged and really needs to get their act. Cocotte no more!”

“ordered take away, bbq beef, chicken kastu and crispy shrimp. food was excellent, the worker was super kind, food was fresh. it came with tons of food said to feed 4 but we could definitely get more meals out of it.”

My friend and I tried to visit this place last weekend and made the mistake of not making a reservation so unfortunately didn’t get to eat there on Saturday night. But we were looking forward to it so much we decided to try again the next weekend and this time got a reservation at the bar on Friday night. So make sure to make a reservation if you are visiting on a Friday or Saturday night!

But boy oh boy was this place worth it!! I ordered the Kaisen chirashi and everything in the bowl was so fresh! I loved the variety of the fish and everything melts in your mouth. The service was also top notch! The chefs wife was super sweet and friendly and all of the servers were always checking up on us to make sure we had everything we needed.

If you are looking for Japan quality fish that is authentic and traditional, I would definitely recommend visiting this spot! It’s also worth the trek if you are coming from Kanata or the west end of Ottawa. I will definitely be going back 😄”
