“My favorite bar in the area! Great food and drinks, great people and great prices — plus, easily walkable from Ardmore Station and Suburban Square without all the crowds. Definitely recommend stopping in!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, and the ability to customize existing options to make them vegetarian. Big fan of the tater tots :)Parking: Easy to walk from the train or main residential areas in Ardmore, but if you are driving, there’s a free parking lot behind the building, a municipal lot a block over and plenty of street parking.“
“Pretty chill bar, good prices and friendly staff. Unfortunately didn't really get to eat since I had already eaten, but I had some of my friends fries and a bite of his Philly cheese steak and it was delicious. Just couldn't physically eat anymore ?“
“A must try hidden gem in the neighborhood. Unique Belgian beers and stouts. Must try the Hercule Stout if you have beef of any kind. Don't underestimate the vegan seitan sandwich. Packed with umami flavor and very satisfying. Wife had the Steak Frites salade and really enjoyed it. Dessert was the lime pie - very tart and very good.“
“Friends dinner out on a rainy Saturday. Our Mr first time to Noir since the Pandemic. It's even better than we remembered. Same comfortable, relaxed, neighborhoods atmosphere. Same warm and welcoming service. And the food is inspired. Particularly good: broccoli rabe with sausage and beans starter, arancini, gnocchi in mushroom gravy, short rib, and (amazing) spaghetti with crab sauce. Desserts were fresh and especially tasty. Great evening!“
“If you get an opportunity, you must give Monahans a chance. My favorite cheesesteaks, even a chicken cheesesteak with fried onions, sweet peppers, and bacon, it will have you talking to it, lol. There are plenty of spirits to choose from, and the beer is always cold. Some vegetarian options. Delish apps and the app pretzel with their honey mustard is phenomenal. Safe, comfortable, clean, and great people. Non-smoking, but you can on their outdoor patio, which is heated during colder weather. TV's everywhere.“
“Tiny “Hometown“ type bar. Everyone was very friendly. We had a cheesesteak, which was very good, and got to put pins in the map to show how far we traveled. Drinks were generous and atmosphere was very fun. We were there on a night when they were playing bingo. It was free and a very fun addition to the night. Only complaint is the smoking. I’m sure this is some kind of last resort for smokers, and they probably love it, but I could do without going back to my hotel smelling like a dirty ashtray after having a drink and a sandwich.Parking: Parking lot is tiny and only accommodates a few cars. street parking is hard to find. This place is at the intersection of a few streets, but there is one of the roads that has free parking across the busy intersection.“
“McMenimin's is a terrific, very popular neighborhood bar/restaurant. It can be noisy, but if you sit in the back room, the noise is not too bad. We were there on a weeknight (Tuesday), and yet every table was filled by 7 o'clock. The food is better than one would expect for this kind of place. The fish and chips, chef's salad with portobello mushrooms and plant-based "cheeseburger" were all excellent. And portions were huge. The server was very pleasant. The reasons why this is 4 stars and not 5: No cocktail list at all and just a few not-so-great wines by the glass. And the entrees were served way before we were finished with the appetizers. They must have thought we had to catch a train. If you don't mind being rushed like crazy, then you might give McMenamin's 5 stars.“
“A great find! We had 2 very pleasant visits with good food and drink. We particularly liked the staff and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. The owner and colleagues were very hospitable. One of the pleasantest neighbourhood bars we have ever been in.“
“what an incredible refurbishment of a classic center city building!!!!!! the bar staff was great in every possible way including both johns and the beautiful young woman who was working with them on thursday night!!!!! the beer and booze selection is above reproach and just one piece of advice... if you like or love tullamore dew, don't drink the honey version“
“I was in Philly with my boss and a colleague for an industry event. They were asking for a place to go for a bite and a beer. I asked my daughter who is local for some recommendations and she recommended Good Dog Bar. There are many great restaurants in the center city area, but this one does a great job. At 6:30 on a Monday, the place was quite busy. We were able to get a booth. I didn't see any tables for large groups downstairs. Most of the bar area and tables were full when we started ordering. The beer selection is diverse and prices are reasonable. For my main dish, I had to try to vegan Philly Cheesesteak. You might say that this is quite blasphemous being in Philly and doing vegan. I'm not sure how they did it, but it was very tasty. They also have some awesome fries with it. As far as parking, find a lot or garage or it's better to use mass trans or bike.“
“Perfect neighborhood gem. Gastropub food is just delicious. Wide variety of food options as well as a terrific beer selection. Through the pub and then a doorway into the "house" next door is a very cozy two floor (maybe three?)experience, a house turned into an eating area, also a surprise pinball machine corner and televisions on both floors. Very unique, very comfortable. You just want to hang there all night as if it were your own house. Love it“
“This place was totally awesome!!! The staff was super friendly, welcoming and attentive. And the food... everything was so delicious!! They have daily specials, a diverse beer menu and one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. I highly recommend Capone's and will definitely be back.“
“Pat, the man!! First time there tonight and came due to closeness of location and reviews… but blackened chicken salad and wings to go were both A+Pat’s presence and convos were representation of what a local bar should be! When you walk into a bar and don’t feel awkward to hang by yourself and enjoy a moment… this is the place to be. I will be back soon, thanks for a great time!“
“Honestly, I wasn’t even planning on writing a review, since I wasn’t expecting much. But the Cheesesteak blew me away. The steak was delicious and the cheese was hot and fresh. Service was quick too. Overall, this place gets five stars for shocking me.“
“Great little neighborhood tappie. Friendly mom-type ladies behind the bar, and a made-to-order rib eye cheese steaks on a lightly toasted Conshohocken Bakery roll that will make you forget that Chubby's and D'Allesandro's are on the same block.“
“Best little local pub just off Passyunk. We dropped our grandchildren off after having them over the weekend, and stopped here to grab a bite to eat and a cocktail before heading back to New Jersey. I had Poutine and it was amazing! My husband had a brisket sandwich with a Brussels' sprouts. We will definitely be back!“
“We've dined here a few times The previous time was really great. This time everything was off. The server needs to be trained. Previous time we had the duck confit and it was fabulous. This time it was overcooked and just plain crispy to the point of being difficult to eat. I love that East Falls has this neighborhood gem but wish that they'd step up their game, especially at this price point.“
“On my first ever visit to Philidelphia, I chose to try this place (the nachos looked good on the online menu). When I walked in, the place had an intriguing atmosphere. It was self seating - I didn't see the menus on the table, and the server noticed, so, he grabbed me one and brought over a water, before I even requested anything! I ordered the Nachos with the spicy (not hot, just flavored with spices) chicken - it was So good and the bowl was suitable for 2 or more to enjoy. The plating was intriguing! It was Delicious! While I was eating, the server made me feel welcome, joking that I wasn't the Only one who didn't notice the menus (another party that came in missed them, too!). I returned afew days later with my husband, had to show him some of the city and have him try the nachos - we both Inhaled them! Despite a Large party being there, the server came right over with waters, got our order and had it brought out quickly. We were impressed with the service, despite the large party. I Highly reccomend this place! Try the nachos!! The giant pretzels look delicious, too!“
“*NEW OWNER ALERT*Wolf Burger is managed by an awesome crew. Awesome bartenders who love the neighborhood, great vibes, and they pay special attention to what is happening in the neighborhood. Games are always on. Always a good conversation at the bar. This place is comfortable and welcoming. Come for the burgers, stay for the good times.“
“Step into Booker’s Restaurant & Bar and be swept away by a symphony of flavors that dance across your palate! This West Philadelphia treasure is a culinary haven where comfort food is elevated to an art form. Imagine sinking your teeth into creamy grits paired with succulent shrimp, or savoring the sweet and savory bliss of cheesecake french toast. The fried chicken and waffles are a crispy, golden delight, and the burger with cherry peppers and caramelized onions is a masterpiece of taste. As evening falls, the menu blossoms with heartwarming dishes like jerk oxtail, seafood mac and cheese, and a creole vegan jambalaya that’s a vibrant tapestry of flavors. And let’s not forget the Happy Hour—a festive time where laughter mingles with the clink of glasses, offering $6 cocktails and irresistible fried chicken sliders. Booker’s isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience that leaves you yearning for your next visit!“
“Nothing can go wrong woth the seitan wings at 9pm after a movie at the PFS bourse. The place is always comfy thanks to its decor, has a great selection of beers ans their food never disappoints. The music can be loud sometimes but not to the point of making me go away.“
“So happy I happened to stumble into this place. The neighborhood bar this area was lacking! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu haven’t had a bad item yet. Usually get the boneless wings. Kelline is one of the nicest people and bartenders you are ever going to come across.“
“I actually do not usually do restaurant reviews, but was so please with Con Murphy that I felt like I had to share. I feel like there are many restaurants in Philly, and this one deserves more attention. We were day-tripping Philly and enjoy seeking out the local Irish pubs. We were charmed by the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere! It was noisy and small, in a fun and happy way. The TWO bars were well-stocked. We came with the family and everyone was pleased. We started with the Parmesan Truffle French Fries and they were exemplary especially paired with the Aeoli. The blackened Grouper sandwich was "sublime" according to my son who works at a restaurant! My daughter didn't prefer the crust thinness of the flatbread, but enjoyed the potatoe soup. The Irish fare was well done. My son ordered the shepard's pie and my husband and I both ordered the beef stew. I am picky of "Irish Food" bc so many places do not give it the attention it deserves, but everything was prepared beautifully. If you like very rich, decadent broths and hearty, meaty portions, then the stew is for you. The bread it was served with was unbelievably flavorful and had a tender center and crusty exterior. The stew tasted like it had slow-cooked for hours and did not dissapoint. I ordered the "Tullamore Gold" cocktail and it was a tad sweet, but flavorful. I wish I had paired a red wine or whisky with the stew. My husband had a canned apple cider which was tasty.“
“Decided to try it out here today, because it's 70°+ sunny. They had the front completey open-air. Small, but really nice, great cocktails (I had the marple tea, and my mom had a passion fruit gimlet), we had nachos and Mac and cheese apps, shrimp tacos and fall salad. All delicious and our server was very nice.“
“Love the food and staff here! We are always welcomed even though we are out of towners! We've tried most items on the menu. Get the burger! It's seriously one of the best! The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls are also a must! Beer is cold! Food is solid! You really can't go wrong! We stop here every time we are in town and make a special trip if it's St Patty's Day!“
“This was my first time visiting this Pub and restaurant, I visited around dinner time an overall had an average experience. The menu had both an American and Irish flair, the sandwich and other food I ordered was okay, but unremarkable. Right in the neighborhood again and wanted a lunch time menu I might visit again, but I don't think I'd visit again for dinner. The atmosphere was fairly typical of a public house and otherwise unremarkable“
“What a fantastic spot to watch the Eagles game. Food that we had (cheesesteak eggrolls, wings and tacos) were all fantastic. Probably the best service I've ever had in a bar. Every time one of our group of six drink was even close to empty, they were right on it. Can't wait to go back again for another game!“
“Ten Stone is my favorite neighborhood bar for watching the Sixers games. The bartenders and the people at the bar are very friendly and knowledgeable Sixers fans. Despite the Sixers game being on the bartenders keep the drinks flowing. My glass never sat empty for long. When it comes to food, I'm a sucker for anything with truffles, so I love the truffle popcorn. The cheesesteak eggrolls are also a great rendition of that dish. Crispy outside and plenty of meat and cheese inside. The chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun is also good. The chicken needs to be a bit juicier to take it over the top. The gumbo is also a good dish that will keep you warm in the winter and remind you of New Orleans. Unfortunately, the mac & cheese is terrible. As long as you avoid that dish you will have a good time at Ten Stone. If you come during a Sixers game you never know when you might see me at the bar.“
“A wonderful 5-star lunch experience ! Coming back from a mid-day center city concert, decided to stop in @ Tavern On the Hill rather than MacNally's...SO glad we did ! Bartender Mackenzie couldn't have been better : super-efficient AND super-personable ! I've had many excellent meals here before, lunch and dinners, today was no exception. Straying from our regular menu favorites ( tough to pass on the always great burger or turkey'n' brie sandwich),we both had the same "special"...a smoked kielbasa/ kraut sandwich. Not an item I'd usually rave over, it was just perfect...the best I've ever had. Great kielbasa, nicely toasted roll, homemade-tasting kraut...and even a high-quality tasty brown mustard. You just won't go wrong here... where else would somebody rave about a kielbasa sandwich ??? Can't wait to return for lunch OR dinner...“
“I came in on Saint Patrick’s day with my family. We had an extraordinary time there. The portions were very large which is great for hefty eaters or people who simply want to save their food. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the kids Mac and cheese with applesauce (don’t judge) and it was delightful. The applesauce was slightly crunchy, and had cinnamon sprinkled overtop. The Mac and cheese was delicious and cheesy, I could hardly finish it all. I also had a Shirley temple with it, which tasted amazing. It tasted a bit like strawberry syrup mixed with lemonade and sprite. The service was excellent. The waiters and waitresses were so polite, and since I went there on Saint Patrick’s day, the entire staff was dressed in leprechaun outfits. They were very friendly. The atmosphere was very light and positive, with an older style feel. I 100% recommend going here.Vegetarian options: I personally don’t recommend for vegetarians to go here, as most of Phil’s is centered off of meat, but they do have plenty of other options that don’t involve meat.Dietary restrictions: The staff was very accommodating and would definitely be willing to accommodate to dietary restrictions.Parking: The amount of parking space was surprising, since we went in on a crowded day. Yet we were able to park our car comfortably outside with not too much of a walking distance.Kid-friendliness: They were so polite to us kids, we got crayons and they did not judge the awful drawings we made.Wheelchair accessibility: They had no steps there, and the distance between the parking and the building is a very small and flat area of land.“
“Pub food at it's best! We went after a Drexel U Preservation Society presentation at The Olde Swedes church. They had a St Patrick's Day menu available that we ordered from. I had the fish & chips & DH had the beef stew & a Guinness. Yum!! Just what we were looking for.“
“Attended a funeral luncheon for my best friend's father. Food was very good and wait staff was very attentive and helpful. My first time there even though I grew up in DELCO and just a few miles down the road. I'm sorry I missed out for so long!“
“Pappou's for the win. Everyone in there is so nice, they have a great bar with the best beers and make tremendous pizza. Well located too. Nothing but positive feedback for Team Pappou, keep up the stellar efforts. Also love the logo of the turtle, you guys are the best. Let me know when you get t-shirts back in stock!“
“Definitely a dive bar rather than a gastropub; BUT food was pretty good and the drink worked. Have different theme nights, darts, and hella TVsKid-friendliness: Dinner is not good for kids; maybe brunch or outside eating but yeah dive bar vibe.“
“Last Saturday was my first time there seem like a cool place I didn't actually go in we're on the balcony the whole time but we got their kind of late so maybe next time we'll see the local band sounded okay from food was good... a lot of drunk people “
“Stopped in for a quick bite. Quick seating, great service from the bar staff at the high tops. Loved the French onion soup. Just what I needed to take the off the cold of the night. Solid pours, good music. What you'd expect from the name, honestly. Place starting filling with a younger bar crowd about 9:30.“
“A Philadelphia & South Street landmark, family owned & run for half a century, this place has so many fun activities or just sit & enjoy a diverse, exciting beer list. Great food & excellent friendly service round out your experience.“
“This restaurant is my first choice place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. when I want to go to a good lunch, this place comes instantly to my head. best and varied food and a large list of dishes.courteous staff members, and pleasant mood. Not less important, the expence is decent. I suggest this restaurant with no doubt.“
“Walt's has been a GREAT EXPERIENCE for over 30 years for me! I am not a regular but when I feel like I am in a party mood with an OLD SKOOL feel I go there because I know I will be satisfied! Good music, drinks, and good food has always been on top of the list! They have a great patronage there! CHECK THEM OUT☺“
“Awesome time! The actors are great with audience interactions and can really play off a random comment or two. Our server 'Lucky' was also top notch. Always making sure are glasses are full and even chatted with us for a few minutes after the show!“
“I usually go into bars like this with low expectations because they're unwelcoming to people who aren't regulars. But i was greeted with a warm smile and great service. The lady behind the bar was very kind and helpful and i really appreciate that.“
“What a place! Ryan the owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.I told him we were going to the Keswick and he asked me who was playing and we had a nice conversation .He put on Bob Dylan music and shared with me some documentaries he suggested I watch. The bar was full of people and you just had a feeling Ryan knew each and everyone of them. Our server was very friendly and helpful with recommendations when asked.Worth a trip to Glenside just to experience the atmosphere of this Pub.“
“Castle Roxx is my go to stop. Every time I come I have a great experience. All of the bar tenders always are amazing and work so hard to make my experience the best in Manayunk. Eric and Vinny are two of my favorite bar tenders. They make even the slowest nights the most fun. I normally come during the week, as opposed to the weekends, and I never regret it.“
“Small little Irish bar downtown. It's narrow, but there is a second floor with a pool table and dart board for your enjoyment. The service is efficient and friendly. If you're looking for a laid back place to grab a pint, stop by.“
“I recently worked as a photographer at this bar/restaurant space that was being used for a wedding. There is a small space in the back thats great for pictures and small parties. They also have a bar upstairs and ample parking across the street. The appetizers were delicious and creative. Its a nice venue to hold a small event or to have drinks/dinner.“
