“I moved to the Burgh about a year ago. I am a pizza connoisseur. I like everything pizza, calzone, stromboli. So to be completely frank I was skeptical. I ordered a large calzone with the same toppings I always add. It was phenomenal. I ate the entire calzone in less than 45 min. I am hard to please when it comes to pizza, but Pizza Station and their staff have won my stomach. Do they have everything? No. But what they do have, they excel in preparing it.“

“Beyond being some of the (if not the sole) best Italian food I have ever had, what stands out most about Dish Osteria is their commitment to true hospitality; we arrived early to have drinks at the bar, and from the start we were treated with care and true personal interest. The bartender was so insightful and walked us through the menu, answering any questions we might have so that we could order our dinner with ease (it was last Wednesday at 8PM— I forget his name, but please give him his flowers. He was amazing!). I had the Little Bird bourbon cocktail and absolutely loved it. This level of care continued as we moved to our table for dinner. Our waiter and host went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal, refreshing our bread without us having to ask (that homemade focaccia was dangerous— we couldn’t stop eating it!), suggesting wine pairings, and also allowing us to taste two options when we couldn’t choose. Every single dish we ordered was phenomenally crafted and delicious ; we ordered the Gamberi shrimp and grilled artichoke salad to start, followed by the short rib ragu gnocchi and rigatoni with smoked scamorza for our entrees (I will dream about both of these dishes for some time). For dessert, we had the lemon cello cheesecake, which was perfectly balanced with sweet and tangy flavors. Our waiter also provided us with a complimentary glass of moscato with our dessert. This was a phenomenal first experience at this restaurant and I cannot wait to come back. I’m also gifting a visit here to some of my friends for their anniversary and can’t wait for them to try it as well!“

“Came here after receiving a gift card a few months ago and loved it so much decided to return for a special occasion, once again DiAnoia’s did not disappoint. The menu had different items this time around, but we could not be happier with our selections. The drinks/food came out at the perfect time, our fried mozzarella and pasta dishes were still steaming when brought to the table, the entire staff including our waitress were all extremely friendly and accommodating even with a packed house. Can’t recommend DiAnoia’s enough!“

Chef Antonio created a very fresh Linguine Con Vongole with rapini and brought back his Pollo Valdastana, which was do flavorful with ham and fontina cheese. We enjoyed our time with Holly at the bar and talking with Franco. We just. love the welcoming atmosphere here.“

“We’ve dined twice at Alla Famiglia and it’s the best Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Their portions are massive and we’ve always had enough for lunch the next day. The three things we recommend are the grilled octopus appetizer, any of the veal chops, and the seafood diavola. You need to see the size of the veal chops in person as pictures online don’t do it justice. We thought the Cavatappi tasted better than the Cacio pasta, even though Cacio costs more. Overall it’s pricey for Pittsburgh, but the quality is superior and you get enough for lunch the next day. Another tip is get a bottle of their spicy olive oil on the way out. I add it to many dishes for an extra kick and it makes for a great present.“

“My wife, our son Declan, and myself stopped in for lunch around 1 on a Saturday. Service was great and they were very accommodating to our 9 1/2 month old son, providing a high chair as soon as we were getting seated. The staff was very friendly and engaged us in light conversation. We got a medium pizza with italian sausage that was absolutely amazing and cheese ravioli with meat sauce, also very delicious. The restaurant has a very cozy, traditional feel that we loved. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and mad it was my first time there after living in the area for over 20 years.Kid-friendliness: Very accomodating to our son, giving us plenty of napkins, plates, and some crackers to snack on.“

We often share a few items from the appetizer section, but also have some of the entrees, which feature, in addition to great food, reasonable portions (like in Europe). It's our favorite place.“

“Can’t rate this place high enough. Every time my family has dined in we are treated like family and leave with full bellies and happy hearts. We love to come as large groups and order from their Family style menu for larger portions to charge. The Roman pizza is unique in the area and we love it. The homemade pasta divine is our favorite. The espresso martinis are made with in-house vanilla infused vodka and real espresso! 20 drafts on tap! Wine on tap for Prosecco floats?! We always make sure to save room for the best gelato in the states! So many tasty options. We recommend the Wild Italian Cherry and the Orange Julio with candied oranges. The sweat cream topped with espresso affogato style is to die for ? The whole team are rockstars. Reservations are easy to make and change online. Upon walking in I was greeted with the smell of fresh pie and was handed the menu with a friendly greeting from the man behind the counter. Got 12 Hot wings which came out beautifully presented on a paper plate, they tasted just as good as they looked. On my next visit I plan to order the Seafood Salad, which I’ve heard is a Pittsburgh hidden gem.“

“An authentic Italian experience, in a small restaurant off the beaten path. My boyfriend took me for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection. I ordered scallops over pasta. The scallops were browned in butter, tender and succulent. The pasta was hand made. The Italian bread was home made. My friend’s spaghetti bolognese was pilled high and mighty tasty. Even the pairing of wine suggestions were spot on. The father and son do most of the cooking and baking. And they are Italians. We passed the pastry counter on our way out, so I filled a box with beautiful cannolis, cookies and tarts and spent the rest of my boyfriend’s money. All good!“

“Started my Pittsburgh foodie adventures in this adorable little sit-down pizza restaurant in Shadyside! We tried the Pizza Del Re (white pizza) and Pizza Della Casa (red pizza), and both lived up to the hype! Pizza Del Re: - White pizza with mozzarella, truffle spread, & prosciutto (it comes with mushrooms too, but we got it without because my boyfriend doesn't like mushrooms) - A super rich truffle taste that was so yummy - Loved the thin crust, but there were parts that tasted a little too burnt Pizza Della Casa: - Red tomato sauce pizza with mozzarella, grape tomatoes, arugula, prosciutto, & parmigiano - I love the combination of prosciutto & arugula and it was a plus that the arugula tasted so fresh & wasn't bitter - I personally prefer red sauce over white sauce, so I liked this pizza a little bit more To top off your meal here, make sure to get their gelato for dessert! I got a small size with 2 flavors -- tiramisu and hazelnut. Both flavors were super rich and yummy and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.“

“We had a wonderful dinner. The food was prepared perfectly by Executive Chef Nick Senske and his team. The cauliflower and truffle dip was sooo delicious as was the carrott appetizer. We shared three pasta dishes, all were delicious. The Short rib casserchia was very tasty! We will be back.“

“We had a very enjoyable evening at Tambellini's. We love the cozy ambience of the dining room and the gracious service. Our server Charlotte did a great job of pacing our meal service. We both had the special entree of Veal Lucca with veal medallions in marsala sauce topped with crispy proscuitto. Delicious! We enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar with Mike to finish a relaxing evening.“

“Went here for dinner. I had the gnocchi bolognese and it was terrific. They don't over salt their dishes and the portion was big. My wife had the chicken Parm and that was very good too. They use a thinner breading which doesn't make for a crunchy chicken cutlet.The place is cozy but that just adds to the atmosphere. And the service was great as well.I would definitely recommend a reservation as a smaller place this good fills up quick.“

“Absolutely loved this place! There was quite a line up on a Friday night but we were seated quickly and the host was lovely. It had a wonderful atmosphere and a small but enticing menu. Loved the chalk board display for all of their craft beers. We ended up trying a wood-fired pizza and it was some of the best we've had. Good location and absolutely worth trying. Highly recommend trying the Calabrian pizza.“

“Zuppa’s is a casual local restaurant that serves foods such as soups, salads, sandwiches, paninis, sides, and desserts. Foods can be ordered in person or online for takeout or delivery.I purchased several foods from here, and they all tasted very good. I recommend the veggie panini, mac and cheese, spoon bread, corn and shrimp chowder, and lobster bisque.“

We live just down the block, and really, there isn't enough local eats that still feel a bit dressed up, even though casual wear is appropriate. We've gone twice now, and both times, our servers have been lovely. On our latest date on Thursday, our server was there to greet us and ask about beverages not a minute after we sat down. She was super attentive, very fast, and a total sweetheart. The food has some hits, but it's all up to preference. I love the cheese ravioli. My boyfriend had the steak hoagie and we both agreed that while the steak was perfectly cooked, the sauce was a bit on the sweet side for us. That said, it was well made and presented, and we still left with full bellies. Carbonara's is fast becoming a regular date spot for us, and I haven't been disappointed yet. And those portion sizes? “What a charming little place. My friend and I dined here for a little “girls’ night out”, and I’m so thankful that we did. Our server, Kelsey, made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. The atmosphere is cozy, bright, and inviting. Both of us got seafood pasta dishes, and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing so I could have leftovers! The tiramisu was delicious…and a very hefty portion size of it, too. We split a bottle of wine from their shop next door, and Kelsey brought it to our take for us so we didn’t have to move. Generous portion sizes, excellent food quality, and a very reasonable price point. The service was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about this place. “We tried Antonio’s for the first time tonight. We ordered a deep dish pizza with pepperoni and the general tso’s chicken pizza. Both pizzas looked and tasted amazing. A perfect place to get upscale food and classic Italian-American food. I tried the Pick a Pasta with vodka sauce and penne and a mini peanut butter chocolate bombe for dessert.Both items were stellar. The pasta was perfectly cooked, not too soggy or too Al dense. The sauce had a nice balance of sweetness and creaminess, with that tomato bringing in a touch of acidity. Great portion for the price, too. Highly recommend it.The bombe was a lovely little dessert, and the perfect size for a person (you might be able to split if you’re too stuffed). Rich peanut butter and chocolate, tasty cake. “Been eating at Armstrongs since I was in high school, 20+ years ago. It is the most remarkably consistent food, and delicious every time. You literally can’t go wrong with anything on the menu…I’ve had most all of it over the years. Never, ever anything less than a delicious, filling meal.“

Overall though, the decor and aesthetic is beautiful. We ordered the focaccia, which was delicious but wasn’t served warm. The charred eggplant was the standout. We then shared the chicken Parmesan and the tagliatelle with bolognese. Chicken parm was good and an enormous portion. Bolognese was mediocre and had no depth of flavor, disappointing. We shared a panna cotta for dessert which was lovely. Cocktails were also tasty. Our server, Sarah, was wonderful and served us complimentary bubbles for my birthday. All in all, it was a nice experience but in my opinion a little overpriced and not my first choice for pasta.“

“This is the best wedding soup I've ever had. Not only is this soup savory, succulent, perfectly balanced, and delicious...it gives you feelings of grandma in the kitchen with her secret recipe. This is by far the best soup I've ever had! The beef melts into your mouth before you can even take a bite and the broth is just perfect, it's beyond words! The ziti pasta and meatballs are delicious but I would order all the wedding soup until it was sold out if I lived in the area! I am immediately going back to buy a quart before finishing the pasta. Please do not discredit the other food items. I LOVE SOUP! This brings me goosebumps and warm feelings to how delicious it is! Wonderful job! (1 hour later) I did go back right before closing and ordered a quart to go and could not resist the pizza. I'm glad I didn't stop myself. I met Vito, the owner who makes his ingredients fresh every morning, and praised him for his love that he pours into his food. He's a great person and the friend you'd invite to every family gathering. I've traveled all over the world for work and this is the BEST SOUP! Last week I was in Paris, and the French Onion soup was delicious but could not even step close to how much mastery that's ingrained in this soup. If I could choose one thing for the rest of my life to consume, it would be the Wedding Soup!“

“I was in Pittsburgh with my sister and two friends for a girls weekend. LeVia was recommended to us by the owners of SPill Wine Bar. We were seated immediately and greeted by the best waitress! Her timing of service was spot on, as well as her recommendations. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes. The space was small and quaint, and we loved the intimacy of our surroundings. We ordered the garlic knots with sauce and cheese, I can’t even begin to describe how incredible they were. We all ordered a different meal. Our waitress gave us four extra plates to share all of our meals, great idea to be able to try an assortment of dishes! Thank you for an amazing meal, we will be back!“

Local family owned. Has a separate bar area. Dining area is a bit on the smaller side. Had a separate area and entryway for takeout pickup.“
