We went with the tasting menu instead of a la carte and found the dishes good, but not anything particularly special. They were very accommodating with an allergy which was very nice. “Gorgeous location, great service, and most importantly the food is amazing. I fervently wish Irwin’s existed in my hometown as I’m sure I would become a regular. As it is, I will definitely be going back the next time I’m in Philly. The setting, on the 8th floor of an old school building, is extremely cool and aesthetic and they styled the space beautifully with lots of plants. The view is wonderful. I went with a friend and we shared a “girl dinner” of four desserts followed by pasta. I keep thinking about the gelato I had, which was flavored with sweet cream and topped with a layer of honey and a mound of pistachios. The sweet and salty combination was amazing. Another standout was the orange olive oil torte with a bay leaf-infused cream. The lemon pasta was simple with a depth of flavor and strong umami. The bathroom also gets excellent lighting for selfies. Highly recommend.“

Next of Kin Cocktail Bar • $$
1414 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia

“Really hip spot for drinks. I could easily see it being busier (there was a line when we left) but luckily when we went around 9PM on a Saturday we were able to grab one of the side tables, which were really cute! The menu is extensive so there's bound to be something for everyone. Prices were average, certainly not cheap but not out of line with what you'd expect for a place like this. Staff was really friendly and accommodating.

We got the corn 'n oil (lovely), corpse reviver #2 (pretty good), nitro espresso martini (I will never convert to an espresso martini liker so this was what it was), and honey bee. My biggest wish for the honey bee (and really all of their drinks) is that they weren't served in martini glasses (corn 'n oil thankfully was not), as it's just so much work to drink and I think detracts from the drink overall.“

“I’ve been to Fishtown Social many times and every experience has been great. Every wine/cocktail I’ve ordered has been very enjoyable. The whites and oranges are among the best I’ve ever had. I know I can try a few different wines here that I wouldn’t normally drink because the menu is always strong.

The service has always been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was just here last night catching up with some friends. Even though it was last call and close to closing, the servers were very patient and accommodating. In the past, they’ve also helped me choose from their bottle shop selection in the back.

It also has a great atmosphere - candles, a beautiful bar, and outdoor seating. Stopping by here is always a treat!“

“Grabbed some seats at the bar for happy hour. The vibe truly escapes me but I'm not mad about it. Did I understand the music choices? No, but again, into it.

The happy hour deals themselves are fine. There are 3 drink choices, none of which I was super interested in so went with a non HH beer instead. The names of the non HH cocktails are worth a read and clearly really thought out.

We went with both HH apps: the corn ribs and the white fish dip. The former was pretty good- I don't LOVE corn but the dipping sauce was nice and it was pretty well executed. The latter was much better. Nice chunks of meat with really great homemade chips. We also got the beignets which were the highlight: the melted cheese was excellent and was an addition I wouldn't have expected. The pulled pork and the cauliflower were sort of unnecessary here but still really nice.

Service was great. Everyone was super friendly. The prices for HH were fine, a BIT on the pricier side and the actual non-HH menu itself was also fairly pricey. Not sure I would necessarily feel the need to come for non-bar food. Really laid back fun atmosphere.“

“The place is super cute with good service and drinks. My only issues are the odd hours and the way the upstairs area has been closed three out of the four times I’ve been there. The downstairs area seats maybe 12 people max, so when that’s full and the upstairs is closed you have no choice but to leave. They’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 4:00/5:00-11:00/11:30 other days. I’m sure they’d be open more frequently if they could be, but as a customer it’s not very convenient or appealing.“

“The rare 5 stars I give- this place deserved it. I chanced on this place one day for the pizza... got brocciole pizza and spices, and potato pizza- outstanding selection and the best or as good as the best pizza I've had. Crust and flavor combination was perfect. I came back 2 nights later to try other dishes... I ordered gnocchi because this shows quality in a restaurant- I've had many bad gnocchi dishes- Alice restaurant was the most perfect gnocchi I have ever had in a restaurant. only home made is better. The texture was perfect and soft. spice perfectly blended. I asked to add sausage... made a perfect meal. The Gelato on top of the small tart was superb. they make their own gelato... quality is excellent. Anna, our server was outstanding. her people skills and customer service would make the owners proud to represent them. Only draw back was that our bar seats were a bit uncomfortable. it is a bit cramped in there. they need a bigger space. absolutely loved this place!!!!“

The flavor was pure yum. I ate every morsel on my plate. My wife loved her Eggs Benedict with Salmon. The eggs and sauce were perfectly cooked. The service was perfect. Our server, Sela, was so hospitable and sweet. She took our order and the food came out quickly as if it just came off the grill. Will certainly return the next time we are in Philly. Yards Brewing Company Bar • $

“Let me start I did read all the bad reviews before heading over there so I didn’t have great expectations. However as a cheapskate and a craft beer lover especially searching for my lessor common styles of beer, I typically go by each bar and restaurant in airport and scan QR code to see beer selection and check pricing. Most places here in Philadelphia Airport straight rip off at 16 per pint, but when you want a beer you’re stuck. Anyway when I first approached the counter I was absolutely expecting to be poked since they didn’t show prices only beer menu.Luckily they had something for me that I was going to purchase regardless, A nice strong Golden at 8%.I was then blown away upon seeing I got a 20oz, normally higher ABV beers are served in smaller 12oz glasses. Any full pour of 20oz was only 10 bucks and I was expecting at least 20, left me room in budget to not only get 2nd beer plus a pretty solid hotdog and chips.Biggest plus was Connor the bar tender, was super cool and attentive, and then informed me I was safe to take my cup and walk back to my terminal, since I walked a fair distance just to check out all beer options.Lastly, unlike most other restaurants In airport it’s kind of obvious if your paying attention that their section is not owned and maintained by airport, as most restaurants have tables and chairs with chargers that kind of blend from restaurants into gates, so I kinda understand their right to ask people to patronize their business or ask them to leave, I was lucky to find a spot at the bar.Not excusing anyone ever treated rudely, and definitely not my experience.“

We started off with the ribeye pinwheels appetizer, and they were a real treat—perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. For the main course, I went with the ribeye with mashed potatoes, and it was fantastic. The steak was so tender and juicy, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful, a great match for the ribeye. My friend had the filet mignon with a house salad, and it was cooked perfectly too. The filet was so tender and full of flavor, and the salad was fresh and crisp.

Everything came out just as we hoped—cooked to perfection and full of flavor. It was a great dining experience, and I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes from the menu!“
