“I was greeted immediately twice when I came in. I think some restaurants don't realize how much this matters. The service was super fast. I was given water and they took my drink order super fast. The food came so fast it surprised me, both times I came in. The food was absolutely delicious and I couldn't recommend it more. Well exceeded my expectations both times. If I am back in Charleston, I will be back.“

“Had a spectacular lunch at another restaurant and went over the top with dinner at FIG. Arugula salad + ricotta gnocchi with lamb bolognese + desert of strawberry profiteroles with greek yogurt. Off-the-chart meal capped off an unbelievable food day in Charlestown. If I eat another meal this good in this city I may never leave Charlestown. Wow!“

“This review is LONG overdue. My sister & I visited Charleston July 2023. The night we flew in from Seattle we had Chasing Sage for dinner - what a delight! From the atmosphere to the food to the incredible staff and chef, it was an amazing experience. My sister and I still randomly bring up our experience at Chasing Sage, and how delicious the food was. Honestly, we'll probably be back to SC and this place is a decent part of the reason why. Cannot express enough how much we enjoyed this place! *edit to add that at the time there was some sort of a seasonal drink on the menu that included peas and my sister thought it was to die for!“

“A beautiful little restaurant that has it all. The service was fantastic and the ambiance perfect. The sourdough was fenominal. Flounder was amazing but many bites were over salted. Same issue with the rabit pasta being good but much too salty. The dessert - flourless cake was perfect! So glad we ordered it!Really only issue was the saltiness. I would definitely return though, its a lovely spot“

“Many of the local restaurants are overrated, but not Charleston Grill. Great ambiance, service, and the food is fantastic. The knowledgeable staff will help with a wine or cocktail selection to add to your experience. I recommend a jacket for men as this is an upscale venue. Go here, it's worth it.“

“Had a solo intimate birthday dinner here, while visiting SC. Wonderful dining experience, service, and atmosphere. To top it off my server told me my whole tab was covered by a complete stranger, who did not want to reveal themselves. If you ever see this review…THANK YOU!“

“Another stand out Charleston restaurant, the pork chop and beef tenderloin were both so tasty accompanied with some seriously good sprouts, super wine list, great dining room and again warm and friendly service made for a great evening, thanks too to Marsha who treated us like old friends.“

“Absolutely delicious food. We started with the s'mores and carrot cake and were not disappointed. So rich and delicious. We moved on to the fried sweet potato skins, topped with an arugula salad blend. So well balanced and fresh. The main course was the tomato pie. Honestly the best meal I've ever had in Charleston! Highly recommend!“

“Out of this world. If you are looking for the best spot in Charleston for a wonderful dinner with your partner, this is the only option. The varied dining locations provide plenty of reason to go back for round 2 as well. All of the staff are super professional and knowledgeable. We were greeted with champagne, a rose, and a card since it was our first anniversary. We dined on the back patio which was nice and secluded with only three tables. Every course was top notch and we paired it with a different one of their phenomenal cocktails for each.Seriously this place can't be beat. Stay at 86 Cannon and go here for as many meals as you can.“

“I could not write this review fast enough. We had the pleasure of having Eric as our server last night. What an incredible guy. He greeted us by name, went over the entire menu page by page, offered recommendations for food and drink. We did the chef’s experience tasting menu and it was incredible. Eric went over each course and explained how it was prepared. Our bill after some drinks and tip was a bit over $400 but truly the best money I have ever spent for food and experience. Again, thank you to Eric for making our time in Charleston so memorable and if we are ever back we will be requesting him by name, he was truly wonderful. -The Fees“

“I had Saturday brunch with my parents here while visiting Charleston. It was a lovely spot that felt very hip and had a cool vintage aesthetic to it. The food was amazing and tasted very fresh! We ordered the lamb burger, surfer delight, cauliflower wings, and a cocktail. I loved the cauliflower wings and the lamb burger came with sweet potato fries which were my favorite! The service was great!! Our waiter was so friendly and helpful with choosing dishes. We were also sat very quickly despite it being a Saturday and a busy crowd. The ambiance is so cute and I loved the vibe. It's a bright space with nice windows, a bar, and outdoor seating. Great spot that I'm glad we came across while visiting!!“

“Great place, excellent food, reasonably priced, and fantastic service. It's an absolute gem on James Island worthy of downtown Charleston. Never had something I didn't like. From a fine Charcuterie board to an Italian BLT... steak to chicken and waffles. Lovely outdoor seating area and an elegant yet comfortable bar. It's definitely worth a visit.“

“Great food and service. Our waiter offered suggestions and was attentive. We ordered the smoked fish dip and bread as appetizers, she had the pasta and I had the rice dish. We also had cocktails and wine. All were terrific.I only have one suggestion, to expand or add more variety to the beer list. Not a big deal as everything else was amazing.“

“Stopped in for a few drinks after dinner and this place was perfect for our girls night.Live music was being played in the corner by a solo musician that set a quiet tone while an old Mel Gibson flick played on the wall on the opposite side of the bar. The mood was quiet , quirky and sophisticated. It was refreshing from the “college kid vibe you get from most places after 9pm DT .“

“Great bar/lounge in a relaxed setting on King's St. Nice ambiance to kick back with friends over modern cocktails. They take pride in their house made infusions and unique cocktail recipes. Over the top mixtures and formulas make up some of their wild flavorful concoctions! Bartenders are nice as well as the wait staff.“

“My family was in town for vacation and wanted to find somewhere for breakfast other than the usual chains. We stumbled upon Sunrise Bistro and couldn't have had a better experience. I don't remember the last time I've encountered such genuinely kind and friendly people in the service industry. On top of the exceptional service, the food was amazing! My son loved his chicken and waffles! My other son had a chorizo breakfast burrito and inhaled every bite! My husbandoved the self serve coffee bar. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. Don't miss this place!“
“Although I have never stayed at one of the PH rooms, I have dined there a number of times since they’ve been open. Each time has been such a memorable experience. Staff always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, at home, and catered to. The environment of PH (both indoor and outdoor) is immaculate. PH is curated with beautiful southern decor which makes you feel right at home in The Old Village. But I have to say, I experience just as good of hospitality at their Basic Kitchen location. Basic Projects seemingly always go the extra mile in training their staff to deliver the true southern experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to anyone local or visiting Charleston.Nearby activities: Walking distance of Old VillageSafety: In safe Mt. Pleasant, Old Village neighborhood.Walkability: Walkable to Shem Creek.Food & drinks: Clean and upscale eats.Noteworthy details: Curated southern decor.“

“Big shoutout to the guys here we had so much fun they were so nice and created an amazing experience for us!! This is really excellent value because wine is included in the price of 70 USD for 5 courses!! The courses were good like home cooked meals that they prepare in front of you. Don’t expect fine dining because that’s not the purpose but just good dishes prepared by great people!“

“A month ago, was able to reserve dinner for a big group of 20.Arrived this past Tuesday and Travis Parys (G.M.) did a great job in helping coordinate the 2 tables, staff (our server was Whitney and she did fantastic-sadly I can't remember the name of other gentleman at 2nd table). Everyone was thrilled with the drinks, service and excellent food. All stated they would return. Thanks for helping me make the start of our 3 day adventure in Charleston so perfect.“

“Ordered the soft shell crab special… it was HUGE! Got two of them along with risotto and broccoli. We had good service but witnessed a few customers coming up to staff saying they needed service at their table. Otherwise we were just fine. Husband got the new Tuna bowl… which was also amazing. I will say my soft soft crab special, being $49.95, should have been disclosed ahead of time (the cost.) I probably would have still ordered as the dish was a ton of food but for others, maybe something to consider. I wish I snapped a pic of it. Broccoli was cooked PERFECTLY and the risotto was sooo good. It had corn and asparagus cuts in it. Amazing. Overall, great experience, with friendly staff.“

“In search of quality shrimp and grits I stumbled upon this place. I saw it being recommended on Reddit for having such. I was almost discouraged from going here because of some of the reviews I read. After eating here I must say, I don’t know what these people were talking about. Food was high quality, service was great, and atmosphere was welcoming. Nothing bad to say from me. Give it a shot!“

“This place is a gem! Awesome local taproom. Great selection of beers - IPAs, stouts, sours, they have it all. “Food left me speechless. I can sit here and go over but I want to talk about the innovation that was put into the food. Of course it was good but you can't even put a number on it. You will just have to try it. Worth every penny plus a tip. I didn't really get alcohol but if you want to pair things they have a Somme there for you. The service was top notch even got to speak to the owner. The ambiance matched everything. This was an experience while eating and being served. Just go.“

“I showed up at 7 minutes before closing time with a special needs adult and a toddler. Server Kelly looked at us as we poked our heads in, looked at the clock, and said "sure, come on in." She proceeded to serve us like we were VIP's and the best thing to happen to her all day. What's more, the food is awesome. Really good. Huge menu for a breakfast place. I'm a fan.“

“Dillan was an amazing waiter. He recommended the halibut entree and the Elvis dessert. We also ordered shrimp and grits and a side of squash. Everything was beyond our expectations. Honestly the best meal this trip. We’re staying at the Vendue as well. Honestly, the hotel (Allyson- curator) and the restaurant, AND the service ,AND the people , do not disappoint. And, and, and ,and, and….. go there an experience the Vendue!!!!“

“We had the best drinks ever made by the bartender Gage! He was so sweet & made such delicious drinks. We had the lavender sunset, blackberry smash, and a Kentucky mule. He even made up a delicious mocktail for my 10 year old niece. We’ll definitely come back! ?“

“For an expensive fine dining restaurant, the food was adequate but the side dishes selection was minimal. They really need to add some items like Charleston rice, sauteed Brussels, etc the potatoes were average; nothing spectacular, and chunky...Dessert selection ok.“
“For starters, the bartenders couldn't be better. They handled a busy crowd in the most efficient and kindest way I've seen. Plus the drinks were great and the glowing ice cubes were super cool. However the food is what takes the cake...I got the 'Reindeer Chili' and it was amazing. It was like home cooked chili w the perfect amount of sour cream and toppings...plus the rice it laid on made the dish perfect. It would be an amazing dip too I bet ...The ambiance was totally on par for Christmas too“

“Every once in a while you “find” a great place that has been right in front of you all along. High Thyme is one of those places! We came in for dinner for the first time recently and were blown away and couldn’t believe it has been an option for us for so many years and we just have been missing out. The food was incredible, portions generous, service friendly and knowledgeable and the wine was very reasonably priced with great selection. We arrived right at 5 and the dining area had plenty of tables available but it appeared as though the bar may have opened up a bit earlier because every stool was already filled. By 5:30 the dining room was also packed (this was a Saturday night in between Christmas and New Year’s for reference). All in all we are thrilled to find another great spot on Sullivan’s and can’t wait to go back. Definitely aspiring regulars.“

“Cool concept and loved not looking at a menu but still having confidence that everything would be delicious, which it was. Seating everyone at the same time also creates a fun communal atmosphere and we enjoyed getting to know some of the other guests. The chefs were all pretty socially awkward which added to the charm and made it an even more unique experience. I only have one critique which is that the main course New York steak was quite small. When we left, I was still a bit hungry, but after a few minutes felt more satisfied. All in all a great experience and I definitely recommend it to anyone who would enjoy the adventure! $70 per head is a bit steep based on the amount of food you actually consume, but when you consider the value of the overall experience, it is worth the price.“

“The staff was exceptional. They not only served well, they would take the time to speak to all of their customers. I started with the She Crab Soup which was amazing! Then I had the salmon which was served on a plank and was excellent! My husband ordered the French Onion Soup which wasn't very good. He said it tasted like it was made with beef bouillon. He ordered the Chicken Marsala which he described as fine but nothing special. I would have like a few more seafood entrees on the menu. We will definitely return but we would not order the French Onion Soup, the She Crab is far superior!“

“This was our first dinner in the area to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. We were seated on the patio. Our server was excellent and the food was fantastic! We had all appetizers and a couple bottles of wine. Both desserts on the menu were great too! We will most definitely dine here next time we are in Charleston.“

“My husband and I really appreciate this spot. Its one of the few indoor environments we can bring our little chihuahua pup and have a nice meal. Food has never disappointed, neither have drinks and sometimes there is a lovely pianist playing nearby. Fun to people watch and also usually never a long wait. I (almost) don't want to tell others about it because I don't want the secret to get out :). But I also came to leave a review for Darryl, who was our server on a late evening. He was incredibly hospitable and friendly and he was running around serving us alongside a large corporate group that came in late. He made sure our experience was still excellent despite how busy he got. Thank you Darryl and thank you Thoroughbreds for always being so accommodating! We will be back!!“

“This is a little restaurant in the middle of goose creek. I was out there for work randomly and decided to give them a try after searching for local spots. They have a pretty substantial menu plus daily specials so it took me awhile to decide. I went with the pork chop special with two sides. It’s pretty traditional southern cooking. Lots of fried sides and fried meats. For sides I went with fried squash and Mac and cheese. The pork chops were a little tough but they almost always are everywhere I’ve tried. The Mac and cheese and squash were a little bland to me, but nothing some salt and pepper and Texas Pete couldn’t help fix. I would definitely go back and try some other things if I’m in the area. It seemed like a spot that has a ton of regulars for breakfast and lunch.“

“Absolutely amazing! Adam our server was awesome and very knowledgeable! The hostesses were very welcoming! The bone in ribeye, the wine suggestions from Adam, the green beans, whipped potatoes, soft shell crab, and the wedge salad were all absolutely perfect!! “went for a work lunch with some coworkers and the food itself was amazing I got sone pork tacos and they were bomb. Also overpriced for two tacos but either way it was good.“
