“They have an extensive vegetarian/vegan menu with a ton of variety--breakfast food, mexican food, comfort food, desserts, drinks, and most of it is delicious. My only complaints were that the desserts were often too sweet and a little one note, and the surcharge they add makes it pretty expensive depending on what you get. Still worth it though.“

We had a black bean brownie for dessert which was also very tasty. And there is a nice selection of mocktails which is always appreciated!“

“An entirely vegan fromagerie would have sounded like a surefire way to lose money about 10 years ago. However, Austin has never really played by the traditional rules, and we are better for it. Today, Rebel Cheese leads the charge in not just offering vegan selections but putting vegan options front-and-center, proudly exclaiming, "We can make this vegan, and we can make it better." Rebel Cheese would not look out of place next to any other fromagerie. In fact, I am willing to bet they have many customers who have no idea the tasty lunch they just ate was vegan. That is the beauty of Rebel Cheese. They offer a wide-selection of flavors of cheeses: a whole cabinet full of wonder. I made sure to pick an array of cheeses to bring back to my hotel for a homemade charcuterie board, accompanied with crackers and wine. While still in the restaurant, we ordered two deli sandwiches. These were savory and filling. The bread was crisp and toasted, and the cheese was a great, sharp balance with the faux meat. I believe this is were Rebel Cheeses shines best - as a compliment to a dish. I would definitely be back for lunch. I hate saying anything bad about a vegan restaurant like this, but I do feel this needs to be mentioned. A few of the individual cheeses that I purchased and brought home for my crackers were difficult to eat. They were difficult because the flavor was just so strong, so powerful to the point that I could not finish it. I understand that there is some compensating that has to be made when making vegan cheese without dairy, but this was maybe overcompensating. The flavor in particular was a truffle flavored cheese and the bleu cheese. I believe if I went with more mild flavors to eat by themselves, or saved the stronger flavors for a dish, I would have appreciated these cheeses more. Overall, Rebel Cheese is great, and I highly recommend it. To even see a place like this exist is exciting. If you live Austin, you've probably already been, but if you're visiting you need to make a voyage out of downtown to visit this trailblazer.“

Her little bits of conversation were totally not necessary, but very kind and did make me leave with his Smile. The small extra mile she took to make sure to spell my name correctly, means more to me than I let on. A little bit can go a long way. I tried a new smoothie today as well and it was so good! Exactly what I needed for my day of running around town. Keep it up. “
