“Ordered for the first time via Uber . Order was . Hawaiian Salmon poke bowl - Kind of bland, but ingredients were fresh. Didn't come with a sauce that I noticed... Unagi was pretty good. Salmon was fresh. Kale was fresh. Cucumber was fresh. Surprised that there wasn't any pickled ginger, nor do I recall the option to add it. Overall, it's pretty difficult to find a decent poke place in Dallas. not sure if I would recommend yet, but I would order from this place again.“

It comes with 2 dumplings, salad with ginger dressing, the teriyaki shrimp was on top of grilled veggies (, , ), 4 piece roll of Cali or spicy crab and rice (steamed or fried). The rice was a nice portion and was served in a bowl on the side. The Cali roll was big and made with all fresh ingredients. My daughter ordered the shrimp tempura roll; it comes with 8 pieces and is a very large roll with fresh and real ingredients.The ambiance is low lighting, tables and chairs as well as low tables with cushions for floor seating for dining in. Whether you dine in or get it to go, you MUST try this restaurant; you will absolutely love it!“

“Warning that you need three or more in your party to make a reservation otherwise the average wait time is 2 hours. You can put your name down and they'll text you when your table is ready so plan for that. The ambience is amazing and the food too so it's absolutely worth the visit. I recomend the lightly salted beef tongue, the yuzu cheesecake, and the agedashi tofu. The staff is friendly and the food arrives fast, plus if you sit at the bar tables they just hand it straight to you from the kitchen. It's a fun experience. Unfortunately without the reservation the seating will be random so you might get the traditional japanese seats or the bar area.“

Started with a crudo sampler which was a great way for a couple to try a few of their raw offerings. My favorite was the tuna topped with the crab. I ordered a 3-roll regular combo and my husband opted for the 5-roll premium option. Every single thing was delicious and fresh. Even the options with sauces were very nicely balanced and not overdone. My favorite was the salmon option with the mango. My husband loved the yellowtail topped with a jalapeño. Chef gifted us a couple of pieces of salmon belly sushi which was my favorite bite of the night! It was lightly smoked and came with a dab of a wonderful sauce. Tiramisu mascarpone for dessert had a cheesecake texture which I really enjoyed. Will be back and so happy to have them in our neighborhood.“

Despite this, it remains one of my favorite sushi spots.“

She then asked us to take her on her birthday. My wife, who loves sushi, saw the lower prices and assumed the rolls must be small. She in turned ordered seeming 3 of every roll on the menu. The waitress' eyes got HUGE when she saw the order and said "that's WAY TOO MUCH!" We all laughed and she had my wife reduce the order to 1 roll each and even complete remove some rolls. When the rolls, sushimi, sushi arrived, we were like OMG what did we do??? It was SO MUCH! These are NOT small rolls. The table looked like a floating city (as they put the rolls in these 2 feet by 10 inch boats) of colorful art. It was beautiful, but overwhelmingly intense volume. We felt like if we really pushed ourselves we could mostly wipe it out. We may be hurting a little, but we wouldn't look like babies nibbling on our food and so we went to town. We enjoyed every bite of every piece and quickly put a sizable dent in the order. We were feeling proud and full and accomplished. That's when the remaining boats showed up... We cried uncle and threw our hands up in defeat. There was an entire additional boat we didn't touch. SO MUCH FOOD! We still laugh at that wonderful experience and we still don't let my wife forget. It's still funny and made for a great memory.“

The decor and stone arrangements also make the earthy vibe a comfortable dining environment. Our server, Janie was very kind and went out of her way to provide exceptional service. She introduced the menu and explained how the sequence on how the food is served. The house made pickles were a refreshingly excellent start to open our taste pallet. They were a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and tart. Highly recommended. The soba sampler is a great way to taste different flavor pairing for the soba. The bolognese is an interesting take on westernizing soba. It has the light texture of soba noodles combined with the richness of mushrooms and cheese. The chicken karaage was disappointing to me as it tasted pre-packaged and out of the freezer. I know it's not the what they specialize in, but they could improve the karaage recipe to taste more traditionally Japanese. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience at Tei-An because everyone was super hospitable. Other servers stopped by our table to exchange our dirty plates and wipe the water off our table. I can tell there's a lot of effort put into the details of service. I hope others can have the same positive experience as I did.“

We started off with a few items off the happy hour menu and then finished off with a couple of dishes from the main menu. The stars were definitely the scallop, the pork jowl, and the hama chili. Seemed more like family (the ones you like) and friends than workers. Actually they all sat and had lunch together next to me while I finished my meal. Business is closed between 2:30 and 5 to give the staff time together I assume. Completely reminded me of the original Macaroni Grill (Leon Springs) when Phil used to run it. The dish looks amazing and also tastes so good. The sauce had this zesty flavor that went super well with the char/flamed taste. - Itchy Salmon - Also super good with charred flavor. The dish is spicy crab meat topped with salmon, cilantro, pepper, and sauce. The spicy crab mix is so creamy and it melts in your mouth. - Godzilla Bomb Roll - Tempura Blue Kani, Bigeye tuna, and yellowtail with also pepper and togarashi. The roll was crunchy on the bottom and very spicy on the top. It was also super creamy and yummy. On a side note, the ginger is a lot fresher. It's not as marinated as other places but that gives it a fresh essence. They also have thicker cuts of ginger. Overall, the fish and ingredients are all super high quality with great flavor. On the more expensive side but you are definitely getting your money's worth. VIBES The vibe is more upscale casual. There were a lot of couples there. My friend and I came at around 3:50 PM and it was not that crowded. They have two sides of seating, bar seating, and also patio seating. Decorations were so pretty with a bunch of lanterns and more modernized traditional Japanese look. The chopsticks were also really nice. SERVICE Service was great! The guy gave us amazing recommendations, was patient with us and checked on us a lot.“
