“We were taken to Carytown Indian Cuisine last night by our kids. We were so impressed with our experience! The food was amazing. I requested a specially prepared curry vegetable dish, and the chef/owner was happy to create it for me. Several of our party enjoyed tikki masala with chicken. We also enjoyed lentils, cooked to perfection and wonderful chocolate lava cake for dessert. The service was impecable. Our waiters were so attentive and responsive, even though it was a very busy night. The ambience was warm and classy. The chef/owner was so gracious and even visited us at our table. I can't wait to return to CIC.”

Our server was exceptional, making the evening even more special as we celebrated my friend's birthday. To our surprise, they treated my friend to a complimentary glass of Prosecco adorned with a birthday candle. We couldn't resist sharing our entrees, which included smoked brisket meatballs, pan-roasted shrimp, and fried catfish, all of which were incredibly tasty. The portions were generous enough for sharing, and the fried catfish was simply the best we've ever tasted, prompting us to order some to take home. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a cozy evening with friends or family!”

I’m not usually a downtown Richmond person—city crowds just aren’t my thing—but I’m really glad he suggested this spot. I made the drive from King William, and it was absolutely worth it! The food was fantastic, and the laid-back atmosphere made it the perfect place to reconnect. I had the pork carnitas with a Caesar side salad—super flavorful, and the pork was incredibly tender. The Caesar dressing? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d love to know if it was homemade or store-bought, because I need it in my life! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxed and cool meeting spot. I’m already planning to explore more RIC gems soon!”

HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.”

The smorgasbord is a must: beautiful house made pates and cured meats and fantastic cheeses, tailored to your preferences. A well curated menu of beautifully prepared sides and mains. Service is the way I love it - genuinely attentive and warm without going over the top. Prices are very fair for the quality and the level of attention to detail they bring to everything. I was right. So my mom and my pops came to town and wanted to have dinner, with me and my partner. After politely asking us recommendations and subtly dodging each place my partner and I mentioned. My mom asks, “Where did you take Daddy for lunch?” We ended up hanging out and chatting while the staff started to close up. Great food. Every time. Great fast friendly service. Every time. Need a restaurant that your parents like to get them to visit? (Probably not) but THANK YOU, EAZZY BURGER!”

The Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings were my fave- so yummy, juicy, and just a great flavor. I would have liked a variety of sauce options instead of the same dipping sauce for the buns & dumplings to jazz things up a bit, but this was a really nice dining experience. Pretty traditional in terms of the sauce. The site is not allowing me to post pics with this review but the filling was pretty generous in both buns as well as in the dumplings. The Chicken Soup was just ok- it's missing a little something, maybe just needs some seasoning.”

“We've been going across town to the Broad Street location for years, but live in Midlothian. We were so happy when they told us they were opening up a sister location in Chesterfield, just 7 minutes from Midlothian! We were NOT disappointed! This time I ended up having to pick up the bones and gnaw some of the meat off. Before, I could surgically remove the meat and never had to touch a bone. “My pop came through town about two weeks ago. He said he wanted to grab lunch. I work nearby, and knew he loves a good burger. I was concerned because my mother (who loves cooking, loves learning new recipes, but has her classics and go-to’s, makes his burgers) would never hear the end of it, if the meal was awesome. Well. I was right. So my mom and my pops came to town and wanted to have dinner, with me and my partner. After politely asking us recommendations and subtly dodging each place my partner and I mentioned. My mom asks, “Where did you take Daddy for lunch?” We ended up hanging out and chatting while the staff started to close up. Great food. Every time. Great fast friendly service. Every time. Need a restaurant that your parents like to get them to visit? (Probably not) but THANK YOU, EAZZY BURGER!”

We went on a Saturday night without a reservation. I would recommend having a reservation to others because I felt like we got lucky. Waited about 20 minutes to get a seat.
The hostess was helpful, and the wait staff was attentive. Food came out relatively quickly.
The inside of the restaurant was lively, very attractive, and all of the patrons looked to be completely enjoying themselves.
Started with the basket of cornbread, and could see immediately that it was dripping in butter. Light, tender, and slightly sweet. Probably the most enjoyable cornbread I have ever had. My wife had meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and mac n cheese. She enjoyed all. I found the mac n cheese tasty, but not noteworthy. I had country fried chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and stewed tomatoes. Mashed potatoes were excellent, and stewed tomatoes were a revelation on how well they could be prepared. The disappointment of the meal was the chicken. It was drier and tougher than I had had at nice restaurants like this in a very long time. I should have sent it back, but I did not.
Overall, we were both very happy with Southern Kitchen. We will be back.”

“The food, as always was incredible and a good value - I had the baked shrimp Chesapeake, with tons of crab and shrimp. Delicious! The veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Hanover Tomato Caprese salad was fresh and light. My only complaint was that the air conditioning units (not central air) were not working in some areas, which no one seemed surprised about. The banquet room in the front was much cooler but they said they wouldn't seat anyone there even though it was open that night. Leaving customers uncomfortable in a hot dining room when you have a large banquet room that's cool, does not feel like putting the customer first.”
