“Well researched food, solidly composed cocktails, and a warm interior make The Roosevelt one of the most talked about restaurants in RVA currently. Chef Leah is as much a researcher as she is a good chef. Being a long time food writer who has been on assignment in many kitchens, its no surprise to me that Leah has carved out a reputation for herself in Richmond recently. She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.”

“My partner and I went to Lost Letter last night for a celebration dinner. We tried a cocktail each and shared a bottle of wine. We ordered a bunch of appetizers/food to share and everything was delicious. The service was absolutely top notch. They boxed up my leftovers and checked them in the back so we could enjoy our dessert without them on the table and brought them back out when we were finished. I noticed that every little detail was considered, even with how they treated the tables that were around us. We both agreed this was the best dining experience that we have had in Richmond.”

“Caught up with an old friend I hadn’t seen since around ’95/’96 over lunch on 6/17/2025. I’m not usually a downtown Richmond person—city crowds just aren’t my thing—but I’m really glad he suggested this spot. I made the drive from King William, and it was absolutely worth it! The food was fantastic, and the laid-back atmosphere made it the perfect place to reconnect. I had the pork carnitas with a Caesar side salad—super flavorful, and the pork was incredibly tender. The Caesar dressing? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d love to know if it was homemade or store-bought, because I need it in my life! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxed and cool meeting spot. I’m already planning to explore more RIC gems soon!”

“We were taken to Carytown Indian Cuisine last night by our kids. We were so impressed with our experience! The food was amazing. I requested a specially prepared curry vegetable dish, and the chef/owner was happy to create it for me. Several of our party enjoyed tikki masala with chicken. We also enjoyed lentils, cooked to perfection and wonderful chocolate lava cake for dessert. The service was impecable. Our waiters were so attentive and responsive, even though it was a very busy night. The ambience was warm and classy. The chef/owner was so gracious and even visited us at our table. I can't wait to return to CIC.”

I placed a large order just 30 minutes before closing—four chicken sandwiches, a 20-piece chicken tender meal, and their amazing honey biscuits—and everything was fresh, hot, and made to order. That kind of care and quality, especially so close to closing time, really impressed me. The food? Top-tier. The chicken sandwiches were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the tenders were juicy with a golden crunch. But the honey biscuits stole the show—soft, buttery, and just the right touch of sweetness. What really stood out, though, was the service. The owner personally greeted me with a warm welcome, and you could tell they genuinely care about their customers. It’s rare to find that kind of hospitality and pride in both food and service. If you're in Petersburg or just passing through, CHIC’N CRAVE on North Sycamore Street is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!”

“We had a private dinner served to us by the 2 partners of Tulsi. They came to Vinnie and Rebecca’s beautiful yard and gave us a cooking experience we will all never forget. They cooked up some speciality meals that were perfect. Chicken, fresh vegetables from the gardens, very spicy mushrooms and of course nam . Everything was perfect! “Importante Bodega Bar accommodated my organization when we were in a pinch for space and I couldn’t have been more delighted with their hospitality and food. Their waitstaff was gracious, the manager was so personable, and their event coordinator was on point. But I can’t say enough good things about the food. Everyone took some to go because we couldn’t let that deliciousness go to waste. Even my picky 17 month old loved the left overs I brought home! Their margarita was also phenomenal. Seriously 10/10. Will be back!”

Came to dinner with dear friends that are all great cooks and we were awed by the flavors, presentation and dimensions of flavor. The seafood pasta was not only bountiful with fresh catches from the sea but the homemade pasta and sauce were divine. “Friend and I had a girl's night at the Lillian last night. We enjoyed the Ceviche Jipijapa and a caviar slider to start. This was my first time having caviar and it was delicious with the creme fraiche it came with. The ceviche was a flavor combo that I would never have thought of, and it was wonderful...we ate every bite. I had the Ecuadorian inspired seafood rice and the Honey Roasted a duck legs. When I tell you those duck legs were juicy and cooked to perfection, and the attention to detail, the little leaves of cabbage had hints of clove and cinnamon. The Seafood rice had a touch of heat to accentuate the complex flavor profile of the meats and seasonings. The service was engaging and prompt and the atmosphere was warm/relaxing. Definitely suggest this place for a great meal and experience. Will be coming here again!”

“On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.”

“The restaurant has a cozy vibe with traditional Japanese touches like red lanterns and calligraphy signs. What really stands out are the posters of classic Japanese anime—One Piece, Gintama, and Slam Dunk—all over the place, which makes the atmosphere fun and nostalgic.

The food is generally good. The nigiri set is tasty and comes in a generous portion, enough for two adults. The crispy chicken in the chicken don, though, was a bit dry and not as tender or juicy as expected, which is why it lost a star on the food.

Overall, it was a nice spot for a casual dinner on a cold winter evening.”

I was concerned because my mother (who loves cooking, loves learning new recipes, but has her classics and go-to’s, makes his burgers) would never hear the end of it, if the meal was awesome. Well. I was right. So my mom and my pops came to town and wanted to have dinner, with me and my partner. After politely asking us recommendations and subtly dodging each place my partner and I mentioned. The Steamed Veggie Bun was very tasty. The filling for that is like eating the filling of a veg eggroll. Both of the above buns were perfectly steamed! The Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings were my fave- so yummy, juicy, and just a great flavor. I would have liked a variety of sauce options instead of the same dipping sauce for the buns & dumplings to jazz things up a bit, but this was a really nice dining experience. Pretty traditional in terms of the sauce. The site is not allowing me to post pics with this review but the filling was pretty generous in both buns as well as in the dumplings. The Chicken Soup was just ok- it's missing a little something, maybe just needs some seasoning.”

It’s a smaller café, so when it’s cold there can be a short wait and limited indoor seating (no reservations), but it totally makes sense for the size. When the weather’s warm, they have a large patio. They’re open 9–2, and the staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The décor is super unique with a total RVA vibe. The food was unreal. I had the Glitter on a Mattress (Texas toast with bacon & sausage gravy, a side of bacon, and edible glitter ✨) and it was SO good — and huge. We also tried the French toast with flavored fruit cream and a breakfast sandwich, and everything was amazing. Parking is limited in the front, but there’s plenty around the back and an easy walk-up through a covered patio area. Great food, great service, fun atmosphere. Highly recommend — can’t wait to go back. 💕🍳✨”

“My friend and I went for lunch today at Lulabelles, the food was delicious. We had a $20 gift certificate to put towards a $36 bill and gave our server a $20 tip which seemed to be quite generous. Barely offend you that she whisked what was left on our table away, then returned a couple of minutes later to rather abruptly tell us that they had reservations coming in on the next half hour, the implication being that we had best get out of there. “Had Nachos there this evening. Really generous portion size (probably better for 2 people). The brisket (which they smoke in house) was very smokey & tasty, they don't skimp on the brisket either. “We've been going across town to the Broad Street location for years, but live in Midlothian. We were so happy when they told us they were opening up a sister location in Chesterfield, just 7 minutes from Midlothian! We were NOT disappointed! The place was packed, yet we were seated, offered drinks, asked about ordering, and receiving our food all in a very timely manner. And, just like the other location, the food was sooooo tasty! My apologies to the Broad Street location, but I'll probably eat here more than there.”

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the front staff and the manager with a smile, within a moment or two of being seated our wonderful server came to greet us and grab our drink order, the food was magnificent and full of delicious flavor and came out fresh/at great temperatures, then our server even remembered that it was my parents anniversary and brought out a celebratory sparkler on a bottle and a dessert for them to share ❤️ My parents felt the love and I surely did too, thank you to the staff for being so kind and taking the time to come and enjoy conversation with us at the table as well, it meant a lot to us and we will be back! We have been coming to this location for many years and always feel the service is 10/10!!”

“My family and I took my Mother there for her 91st birthday. In all there were 14 of us. The staff took great care of us. We ordered from the brunch menu. Everyone one of us had a wonderful time. The food was tasty, chef (AJ) even came out to say Happy Birthday to his Grandmother! Several of us said we will return again. The dinner menu looks amazing I wanted to stay for dinner but I had to head home and I was too full from brunch. I wish Sweet P's much success!”

“Will be so sad to be leaving this area, as my Friday night walk to Cochiloco has always been a highlight of my week. At this point, I’ve tried and enjoyed just about everything on the menu. The Sonora Taco is INCREDIBLE and my go-to is the Cochiloco burrito (really good portion for that one). The red and green sauces are both incredible and I’ve dipped most every menu item in both of them; you can’t go wrong at Cochiloco.”

“It’s not much really to say other than Mexican Margaritas Bar & Grill is the real deal! From the amazing service down to the delicious food and tasty drinks, we had a very enjoyable experience. The arroz con steak is so good! The tortillas literally melted in my mouth. Even the chips and salsa are good. Two things to note: serving size is smaller than usual and it’s a little on the pricier side for TexMex but worth it. Will more than likely become a regular.”

Went with the Beauford Sandwich and Oxbow Sandwich and both had depth of flavor enhanced by the jus they were served with. The rolls were so fresh and perfect texture as well. Every ingredient feels intentional and adds an extra layer.”
