“Well researched food, solidly composed cocktails, and a warm interior make The Roosevelt one of the most talked about restaurants in RVA currently. Chef Leah is as much a researcher as she is a good chef. Being a long time food writer who has been on assignment in many kitchens, its no surprise to me that Leah has carved out a reputation for herself in Richmond recently. She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.”

“Caught up with an old friend I hadn’t seen since around ’95/’96 over lunch on 6/17/2025. I’m not usually a downtown Richmond person—city crowds just aren’t my thing—but I’m really glad he suggested this spot. I made the drive from King William, and it was absolutely worth it! The food was fantastic, and the laid-back atmosphere made it the perfect place to reconnect. I had the pork carnitas with a Caesar side salad—super flavorful, and the pork was incredibly tender. The Caesar dressing? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d love to know if it was homemade or store-bought, because I need it in my life! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxed and cool meeting spot. I’m already planning to explore more RIC gems soon!”

“I have been twice now and both times the food was great. The view is outside is gorgeous btw. Now as for the food the menu is a variety of dishes themed from different parts of the world. It honestly doesn’t matter what you get it’s going to be delicious. If it’s on the menu when you go I highly recommend the Georgian flatbread, the bao buns, the chorreadas, or the cachapas!”

“We were taken to Carytown Indian Cuisine last night by our kids. We were so impressed with our experience! The food was amazing. I requested a specially prepared curry vegetable dish, and the chef/owner was happy to create it for me. Several of our party enjoyed tikki masala with chicken. We also enjoyed lentils, cooked to perfection and wonderful chocolate lava cake for dessert. The service was impecable. Our waiters were so attentive and responsive, even though it was a very busy night. The ambience was warm and classy. The chef/owner was so gracious and even visited us at our table. I can't wait to return to CIC.”

“I am struggling to write this review because everything about this experience was so stupid-good that I am at a loss for words.

The service? Stupendous. The food? I literally cried a little bit when it was gone. The vibe? Impeccable. Come as you are, as long as “you are” means you want to enjoy glorious seafood.

Here’s what I will do on my next visit:
1. Book an early reservation, say 4pm. Lay waste to the happy hour menu. I’m talking $1 oysters, $30 bottles of vino verde. Grab a ceviche that will make you doubt every ceviche you have ever had to date. Eat some fat shrimp. Get a tin of tuna belly with cocktails - and ask for suggestions; there are some thoughtful and magical pairings to enjoy.
2. Pay up and go for a walk.
3. Come back for your cleverly-arranged 7:00pm reservation. Do EVERYTHING. Order it AGAIN. Maybe skip the conserva and get dessert instead; the banana ice cream sundae was calling my name. Doesn’t matter, just make sure you do this experience twice in one night.
4. Do you have the intestinal fortitude to repeat steps 2 and 3? I do not, but I would respect the heck out of anyone who can. You do you.”

“Importante Bodega Bar accommodated my organization when we were in a pinch for space and I couldn’t have been more delighted with their hospitality and food. Their waitstaff was gracious, the manager was so personable, and their event coordinator was on point. But I can’t say enough good things about the food. Everyone took some to go because we couldn’t let that deliciousness go to waste. Even my picky 17 month old loved the left overs I brought home! Their margarita was also phenomenal. Seriously 10/10. Will be back!”

“Absolutely phenomenal experience at CHIC’N CRAVE in Petersburg! I placed a large order just 30 minutes before closing—four chicken sandwiches, a 20-piece chicken tender meal, and their amazing honey biscuits—and everything was fresh, hot, and made to order. That kind of care and quality, especially so close to closing time, really impressed me. The food? Top-tier. The chicken sandwiches were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the tenders were juicy with a golden crunch. But the honey biscuits stole the show—soft, buttery, and just the right touch of sweetness. What really stood out, though, was the service. The owner personally greeted me with a warm welcome, and you could tell they genuinely care about their customers. It’s rare to find that kind of hospitality and pride in both food and service. “Ist time customer- Ordered from DoorDash and I'll definitely order from this restaurant again. The Steamed Pork Bun has a nice flavor and the bun was soft but firm like it should be. The Steamed Veggie Bun was very tasty. The filling for that is like eating the filling of a veg eggroll. Both of the above buns were perfectly steamed! The Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings were my fave- so yummy, juicy, and just a great flavor. I would have liked a variety of sauce options instead of the same dipping sauce for the buns & dumplings to jazz things up a bit, but this was a really nice dining experience. Pretty traditional in terms of the sauce. The site is not allowing me to post pics with this review but the filling was pretty generous in both buns as well as in the dumplings. The Chicken Soup was just ok- it's missing a little something, maybe just needs some seasoning.”

“On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.”

We were so happy when they told us they were opening up a sister location in Chesterfield, just 7 minutes from Midlothian! We were NOT disappointed! “What's not to love about Stir Crazy? It's the ideal coffee shop. Nice, friendly neighborhood sort of place on MacArthur, very popular with all ages and for good reasons. “My friend and I went for lunch today at Lulabelles, the food was delicious. We had a $20 gift certificate to put towards a $36 bill and gave our server a $20 tip which seemed to be quite generous. Barely offend you that she whisked what was left on our table away, then returned a couple of minutes later to rather abruptly tell us that they had reservations coming in on the next half hour, the implication being that we had best get out of there. “I cannot praise David enough for the phenomenal experience he provided us on August 9th. Our group of 7 unexpectedly grew to 11 people on a very busy night and the host handled the sudden change swiftly by getting us a new table. Even though our seating was a bit tight which was entirely our fault for the last minute headcount increase the staff accommodated us graciously and David made the whole evening feel effortless. What blew our minds is that David told us this was only his eighth day serving! As a table full of veteran food industry servers ourselves we were all utterly shocked because David carried himself and paced our meal like a seasoned pro with years of experience. He greeted us immediately kept our drinks and bread coming swiftly and read our table's energy with incredible emotional intelligence knowing exactly when to check in when we needed more time to decide and giving fantastic menu recommendations. He paced our appetizers entrees and desserts to absolute perfection and despite the cramped table space he managed to clear every single plate with total grace and zero interruption to our conversation. “We had our 20 year alumni event for about 24 people with dinner, drinks, and dessert. Melissa was super responsive to questions and alterations for the event and the food and service were awesome when we attended. The 2 servers did an excellent job.”

“My family and I took my Mother there for her 91st birthday. In all there were 14 of us. The staff took great care of us. We ordered from the brunch menu. Everyone one of us had a wonderful time. The food was tasty, chef (AJ) even came out to say Happy Birthday to his Grandmother! Several of us said we will return again. The dinner menu looks amazing I wanted to stay for dinner but I had to head home and I was too full from brunch. I wish Sweet P's much success!”

“overall a very pleasant experience! I went on a Friday evening around 7pm, and both inside and outside seating was nearly packed! I managed to grab a couple barstools along the window while I waited for my company to arrive.

now, I dont know hoe long it had been between the last person at my seats leaving and me coming in; it very well may have been 2 minutes or 20. but when I entered, no one was seated there. however, the table was veryyyy sticky, I put my bare arm down and almost gagged lol.

not the biggest deal tho, as i did see someone come through and wipe down any unoccupied tables and chairs with a rag (which I hope had cleaner on it because shawty did not have a spray bottle of any kind), so im sure the cleaning is a lot more regular when theyre less busy.

im holding space for grace bc I know how the food industry gets. but it was still unpleasant and I did not feel like I could fully relax because I kept getting triggered everytime my arm touched the table lmao.
