29 Best Wine Bars in Milwaukee

The Dark Room at Saint Kate Bar • $$$
139 E Kilbourn Ave, Milwaukee

“St Kate is amazing!! The hotel is beautiful but the staff goes above and beyond. I got married at a different venue and my mother‘s and my now husband‘s cars were both stolen with all of our luggage and my purse. It was a very stressful situation to say the least. The staff at Saint Kate made all the difference with their empathetic and positive attitudes. They saved my Wedding day and made all the difference. They ensured we had everything we needed, and checked on us to make sure that we were ok. I have never had such a positive experience from a hotel. I can’t say enough how thankful I am I stayed with them. I plan to stay there every anniversary from here on out. Thank you! I appreciate the wonderful experience you have given me!!“

“I came for brunch and it was excellent. I hope to return soon for dinner! The Big Biscuit with habanero jam was the best biscuit I’ve ever had—fluffy, light, and moist without being overly buttery. The jam had the perfect balance of sweetness with a hint of heat, not too spicy or overpowering. My only issue was it seemed unnecessary to require a credit card for our reservation when the restaurant was only 20% full upon our arrival. While I understand the need to secure reservations and hold guests accountable, it felt odd and excessive b/c the restaurant wasn’t busy. I was there Saturday at 12pm.“

They ran short on the bottle of wine that was recommended with it so they gave me a partial glass at no cost and then had me reselect a second option; great customer service. “I don't know where to start. Cavas is special. From the moment you walk in, you realize you didn't walk into just any place. There are only about 5 tables and about the same bar seating. Reservations are a must. It's a very intimate and cozy experience. You're in for a real treat. You only have two options, an 8 course meal or a paella meal. We chose the paella. We had a delicious mushroom appetizer with it. The paella was out of this world. We also got a bottle of wine and dessert with the meal. All amazing. We ordered some specialty drinks too. All amazing as well. Nothing we had was mediocre. We even had empanadas to go. Also amazing. We will definitely be back to try the 8 course. Probably on empty stomachs. Chef Ana and her husband have created such an intimate and unique dining experience that you really must try at least once. You will not be disappointed. Unless you don't like food.“

“Went to CG for the annual Generous Pour event, a great chance to taste a variety (7) of wines with their excellent food. Our server, Austen, was t6p notch and was greatly appreciated by all. Started with a shared steak tartare app which was plenty for 3 people, although could have used a few more "toast" slices. The prices for all our rib eye steaks were in the $60 range and did not include any sides. Steaks were beautifully cooked and very tender. We also ordered the shared side of lobster mac n cheese and sauteed spinach. We loved the lobster mac in the past and always ordered it. This time, the portion arrived in a small round copper dish, and the lobster was not really apparent. The portion seems smaller than in the past. I think we won't order this again since it's expensive and I didn't feel it was a good value. Sauteed spinach was good.“

“We used the Greige Patisserie for our November 2023 wedding in Oconomowoc, WI. They did our personal cutting cake and dessert bar. We mainly communicated with Miranda, who was very responsive, professional and helpful. The dessert tasting appointment was really fun to try out some of the more popular treats. They delivered and set-up all the desserts on wedding day and it looked perfect. The cake was absolutely beautiful and exactly like the inspo pictures we shared. The dessert bar was a hit and we had multiple guests talking about how good all the treats were all weekend. We had s’mores shooters, strawberry shortcake shooters, lemon bars, salted caramel tarts, snickerdoodle cookies and macarons. We would definitely recommend the Greige Patisserie to future couples. Thank you!!“

“I recently visited a fantastic speakeasy-style bar on the 27th floor in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and it was an experience to remember. The atmosphere was a perfect blend of classy and cozy, with stunning views of the city skyline that added to the ambiance.

I started off with the Hibiscus 75, which was a delightful twist on the classic French 75—refreshing, with a subtle floral note that was just right. The cheese plate was a great accompaniment, offering a variety of local cheeses that paired wonderfully with my drink. The chips were crisp and satisfying, and the crème brûlée was the perfect sweet finish to the evening, with a perfectly caramelized top and a creamy center.

Overall, the combination of delicious food and drinks, along with the incredible views and speakeasy vibe, made for an unforgettable night. If you're looking for a unique spot in Milwaukee to unwind and take in the city from above, this bar is definitely worth a visit!“

“Server was great, food was very good - bordering on excellent. Environment was disheveled at best. They seated our 5 person party at a table that was more of a two top that made having food and drinks on table at the same time a challenge. The facility overall was messy. Dropped something and thought it went between seat and back of booth - made the mistake of pushing my fingers in the crack and found them covered in crumbs - kind of nasty. So, push for the patio seating to enjoy the ambience out of doors - because inside - there is very little.“
