“My FAVORITE dim sum/Chinese restaurant in Berkeley! Everything tastes authentic, the pork buns 生煎包 tastes just like the ones I could get in shanghai. The soup dumplings are also amazing- I love using the vinegar, spicy oil, and soy sauce as a combination to use for the dumplings. The walnut shrimps and chinese beef burrito is amazing too!! I wish i could eat at this place everyday and it honestly tastes very authentic ;)“
“Everything here hit the spot for me! All the food was so comforting for such a cheap price. I'd definitely recommend any of the beef stew noodle soups, congees, and steamed rice noodles! It's a lowkey spot and all the food came out super quick!“
“Excellent service! Recommend Peking Duck, whole crab with vermicelli & prime steak with mushrooms. Excellent veggie (Yu Chou) stir fried with garlic cloves. Food was well seasoned but not salty nor greasy. Small'ish dining room so reservations are a must“
“The soup dumplings were delicious. Another in the group ordered the Bao and really enjoyed it as well. The staff might be some of the best in all of California. They were insightful when it came to ordering and the food came out extremely fast. Absolutely fantastic!“
“The food is exceptional. I’ve tried nyc chinese, florida, washington DC etc and this place was really good. The sesame chicken and pork dumplings stood out the most. We also tried the cucumber salad and that was something different but really good. I would definitely recommend giving this a shot for lunch or dinner. If I ever visit again this place will definitely get a 2nd visit from me.“
“Cute place. Went for lunch and it was very quiet. Nice and relaxing. A decent amount of tables inside. And it’s very bright and airy. The Kung pao chicken wasn’t spicy at all. It tasted very good though, and the rice was cooked perfectly. The Shanghai soup dumplings had great flavor. And are on the small side, you can eat them in one bite. The shrimp tempura was very crispy. The vegetable pot stickers had lots of veggies packed in like corn and spinach. The bubble tea I got just tasted like milk. It was pretty large though and I got double boba and the cheese foam. The boba was super fresh and very good.I liked that they had a bathroom but the toilet water was brown and all on the inside of the toilet was brown and it grossed me out.Though overall I def recommend!“
“Really nice place. Ambiance, food, and service were all great. The manager was sweet, brought our kids some chocolate at the end of the meal, which made their day.Kid-friendliness: They were sweet to our kids and the food options were great for kids- shrimp rolls, buns, and rice dishes.“
“So freaking delicious!!! I barely eat Chinese food but this HIT THE SPOT. Yo, EVERYTHING was savory and delicious. Service was great! Food came out pretty quickly. 10/10 recommend! The prices were amazing and definitely makes me want to come back.“
“Highly recommend green beans with XO sauce and the shrimp and pork shaomai (use the hot sauce with it, even better). Pan fried mushroom buns and chashao bao (bbq pork) buns were pretty good too. Found some big chunks of pork fat in the xiao long tang bao (pork soup dumplings), but otherwise they were pretty good. Sort of funny that they put them in little tinfoil cups, but I suppose it helps people with bad chopstick skills also get to sip the soup inside the dumplings;-)“
“This place had a upscale vibe with great music and attentive staff. Everyone was very friendly and I had the bbq pork buns and Pork Sheng Jian Bao and everything was SOOO AMAZING! I wish I lived closer I would be broke from eating here everyday of my life! The bbq pork buns were so fluffy with a hint of sweetness and a savory inside of bbq pork. The soup dumplings had a crunchier pan fried bottom with flavorful soup and meat on the inside. The Oolong tea was very good as well I didn't need sugar at all it was just good quality tea. They even brought a dessert sesame ball for free at the end of my meal and i left so full and satisfied! If you read to the bottom of this, hesitate no further and just do yourself a favor and check this place out, you WONT regret it.“
“Great experience here. Came on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and as a group of 3 were seated in less than 10 mins (no reservation). All the food we are was great, and everything that came out at other tables looked good, too. Highly recommend the dry green beans, Kung pao prawn, and egg fried rice.Service was quick and attentive. They even have high chairs.Service fee of 18% is automatically added and they request no tipping. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!“
“I tried Delicious Dim Sum for the first time today and it was so good!! Got there around 2ish and there was no line. I ordered the Shrimp Dumplings, Chive & Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll, Pork Shumai, Spring Rolls, and BBQ Pork Bun.“
“Glad we caught this place by accident just walking by. Food was superb. Flavourful, delicious beef noodle soup. Also had chicken teriyaki, some dim sum options and spring rolls. Everything was fantastic.Service was attentive, as we were the only ones there. Prices were very reasonable for the area.“
“Overall great price for quality. Should order online to avoid the long wait (20+ minutes for a to go place is too long)- pork and shrimp shumai was really good- ham sui gok was ok. It was a bit soft, not keeping the crunchy texture- mango pudding was ok, not too sweet but a bit more chewy than I like“
“Overall thought it was pretty good, but not my favorite dim sum. That being said, the crispy tofu was incredible - I’d consider going back just to get this… Everything else was pretty average, except the honey walnut shrimp which I would not recommend.“
“5 stars and above. This restaurant has the VERY BEST CHINESE FOOD IN CALIFORNIA? Always fresh, fast service and the very best cooks around. Look no further, East Ocean Seafood Restaurant in Alameda is the finest restaurant around. I've eaten in the restaurant, delivery and take out, it's always hot and fresh, plus their customer service is beyond satisfactory.“
“Food was great. Service needs work. We ordered two appetizers, soup and a noodle dish. They brought out the soup, a few seconds later the noodle dish which was followed immediately by one of the appetizers. We could not communicate with the server to ask her to slow down; finally found someone who spoke enough English to translate and took back dishes to keep warm in the kitchen. And forgot our tea; we needed to again wait for someone who spoke English to remind them of that.“
“When it comes to dim sum I’m always looking for places that honor the classics but also surprise and delight. This place did both. Highly recommend the matcha tea balls which I’ve never had at any other place and were the perfect level of crispy chewy and sweet!“
“First off, this is a literal hole in the wall. I came here on the Chinese Dragon Parade day due to recommendation of my dad. He wanted to try it so my family did. Fair warning, this restaurant seats like 10 tables at best. And mind you like 4 seater tables only with a couple of two seaters. So it's really small. Hence the one star. Also cleanliness is something to be desired. But, if you look past all that, the food is absolutely amazing. It's rare to find a clay pot rice restaurant and the fact this place has plenty of variations is awesome. Heads up that the wait to get the food is about 20 min for clay pot rice since they need time to make it. We ordered 5 clay pot rices (large size, there is a small size). We ordered chicken + preserved meat, spare ribs + preserved meat, two orders of frog, and one chicken and mushroom. Everything was spectacular. Their dim sum looked average so we didn't order them but considering they're known for the clay pot rice, definitely come here for that.“
“Trust me. Asian flavors at its best. Be surprised with real Asian hustling and bustling. If you're looking for top service, you won't get it here. Pay the price and go elsewhere. Cash only.Tons of dishes to choose from. Tons of dim sum as well. White rice with 3 entrees, $5.50!! Dim sum rarely more than $3. A hearty meal for 3.....<$26! Where do you find such deal post COVID??If you like the information, please "like". Thanks“
“Shrimp and pork dumplings(虾饺&烧卖)taste pretty decent. The crepe of the shrimp crepe (鲜虾肠)is pretty thick but the shrimps are nice. We also ordered a turnip cake which tasted oily. Both the turnip cake and the shrimp crepe came out cold :( otherwise the food here is better than what I expected.“
“谢谢!Super yummy made fresh to order veggie dim sum options in the heart of Chinatown, veggie grub round here is far and few but this is worth a stop. I hauled the Vegetable and Shiitake Mushroom Bao's whilst on the move, great flavor but slightly pricey comparing to other joints in the area. It's certainly one of my new local go-to's, this place is a must as it offers incredible actual traditional Chinese treats at a great price.Support local businesses!“
“Good value for the money. And the dim sum was nice. We had four different items, three pieces, each, for a total of $13. Was plenty for the two of us for a morning snack. There's really nowhere to sit so we walked about a block to a nice park and sat and ate.“
“Delicious food and variety of items make this a culinary destination. Service has gone downhill over the last year, with an indifferent attitude and lack of coordination from both the front door check in and upstairs reception, coupled by the difficulty to get basic items like water, spices and sauces from the servers who rush by the tables, diminished our enjoyment of the meal.“
“This place is amazing! They always have a line out the door for lunch. Although the space is very small, Jo, it kind of has to be that way. When you walk up the window shows you amazing noodle options, and they have other stuff as well obviously. Potstickers to pork buns, you name it. But what I really want to call out Right now is their fried Chicken. When you walk in directly to your left, look for the fried Chicken. If you like the colonels 11 spices, you're going to love this even more. They're sweet and sour chicken is fairly good too, just nowhere near as impressive as the fried chicken.Sold by weight, and always tasty. I stopped in for a little something every time I walk by.Unless there are more than half a dozen people in line, which happens all the time, but they definitely move fast.Yum!“
“I really enjoy this spot in the Ferry Building for lunch. Come here for lunch with colleagues usually for an easy quick bite. Last time, shared a floral tea with a colleague. We enjoyed sipping our tea on a rainy day in San Francisco to slow down our day. We also shared the dumpling sampler and an order of wontons. Both were great and the perfect amount for two. We ended with the tea cookies. The perfect end to a meal and a palette cleanser. Our server was very attentive and knew their tea selection well. Will be back.“
“Local Chinese food market vibe. Great service. And VERY delicious and affordable pastries. Strongly recommend. I loved the Taro pineapple bun and cant believe they sell 5 small pine apple buns for less than $4!!! We got 7 pastries for less than $10!“
“I am still thinking about my stuffed eggplant. Oh! And the Chinese greens with Garic. Oh! And the lotus paste bao. Oh! And the…You get the idea.Maybe I ate at this place with “rose colored glasses” on - we managed to easily get a parking spot right in front of this spot and it put us in a great mood to begin with. But I am pretty sure it was just the delicious food.Simple Chinatown restaurant with staple dim sum.Vegetarian options: Be careful. Some items seem vegetarian but have fish or shrimp sauce / paste or are cooked in an animal fat. Make sure to ask.Dietary restrictions: Be careful- ask the right questions some things have hidden ingredients and they do not mark anything. High probability of cross contaminationParking: This is downtown San Francisco- god speed.Kid-friendliness: It is a classic Chinatown restaurant- you know your kids will they like seeing roast hanging ducks? Seeing the dish they will be eating in a tank? If so, like mine, than yes!Wheelchair accessibility: Not really. But people make it work.“
“The dim sum is good and I really enjoyed it. The service is indifferent at best especially if you're not ordering a lot of food. It's definitely a small hole in the wall kind of place with limited seating. Overall though I still liked it.“
“I noticed this place on the way to trying Good Mong Kok. The crowd of locals and lack of tourists caught my attention. So what did I do? I got the same items from both places and had a dim sum-off! Key Finding: the food and prices were nearly the same, but one was way easier to get into. The beef shui mai had a pleasant texture and thin wrapper; good flavors. I got sticky rice and pork wrapped in bamboo leaves. Also tasty with a hefty amount of filling, and they have both the kind with peanuts and with yellow mung beans. And of course I got an egg tart. This was tasty as any, though the bottom crust was a little dense. A minor complaint! The shop is tiny and the customer service just ok as you would expect from most Chinese bakeries. The parklet is still in place, but it didn't seem available that day. Overall, this is a solid bet if you want cheap dim sum in the neighborhood and don't want the hassle of a long line over at Good Mong Kok!“
“Some great food, and excellent service. Not very busy when we went, but I imagine during a basketball game it could get pretty busy. I think we would have preferred a Chinatown experience over this, it was a little too modern and the basketball games all around let us know that basketball is the main focus of this area, not the food.“
“I've known of Good Mong Kok Bakery for years and have always had it on my list. It's one of the most popular spots for dim sum in Chinatown for locals and tourists. With a short line, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to give it a shot! The bakery and dim sum spot operate as take-out only. You're able to view the menu outside and inside. The interior is narrow, noisy, and only fits a handful of people. Order with the ladies, they'll pack it up, and you pay and head on your merry way. Cash is preferred as there's a surcharge for cards. Luckily we came with my companion who could order and speak to them in Cantonese--so he did all the work haha. We ordered a few items to share: Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Shui Mai, and Steamed B.B.Q. Pork Bun. Each item comes with a different set of pieces. My Dad loved the shui mai--strong pork flavor. I enjoyed the har gow as it was plump and tasty. The steamed pork bun was ginormous in size and I ended up sharing it with my companion. I do feel like the pieces could've been bigger (aside from the pork bun) for the price. With sufficient dim sum restaurants in San Francisco's Chinatown, Good Mong Kok is highly spoken of. A quick service spot for all to try with a good dim sum! Located off Stockton Street, street parking is limited in the area.“
“I came here with my parents for lunch and there's lot of open seating. My parents wanted to come here since they missed the eel clay pot rice they grew up eating in China. Even at 12pm there were only 2 other tables that were occupied. They have a large selection on the menu with many chefs and house special dishes. They also serve dim sum here if you're not sure what type of Chinese food you want. Yellow Eel Clay Pot Rice (4.5/5) - the rice was well made, and the crispy rice from the bottom of the pot made for great contrast in texture! It's very close to traditional yellow eel clay pot rice that you can find in China! Steamed White Eel with Black Bean Sauce (5/5) - best dish of the meal! The eel was the perfect texture, slightly crunchy (in a good way) and not mushy. Flavors were bold and nostalgic! Taishan Five Flavor Goose (3.5/5) - the flavors were great but the goose itself wasn't great quality (most likely can't compare to what you find in China) Green String Beans (5/5) - they were just right! Well seasoned in a garlicky stir fry, crispy and light. If you are in the area and looking for authentic Chinese eel or clay pot dishes, you should check out Taishan Restaurant! Fun Fact: They have a karaoke room in the back!“
“Delicious dinner with friends at House of Nanking. Don’t expect anything fancy or a comfortable hang out type place, here you get an eat and get out kinda place cause there is always a line of people waiting. Food was delicious including sesame chicken and tofu in black bean sauce. The fried rice was finished table side with more than enough egg to make an omelette. Wasn’t a huge fan of the fried rice flavor but loved everything else.“
“This place looks a little dingy, seems like it used to be restaurant, but now they just do takeaway. The dimsum is not premium restaurant stuff, but good hearty home style, presentation not so great, but tastes good. You could get a meal for under $10 here, but "splurge" a little and you'll be really full.“
“Good food and okay service for a lunch. All of the items we tried (and we tried quite a few) were well made and flavorful, and we appreciate the cutting before serving. Not the best dim sum we've ever had but a very solid choice. The atmosphere was also nice.“
“This place changed my life. Earlier in the day we walked by this restaurant (we had already eaten a full dinner), but the nicest man said he would stay open for us if we wanted to do some shopping before coming back. He was so enthusiastic that we picked up 3 other members from our group and came back just for the owner to convince us to get the “all you can eat” food service for a flat rate charge. Throughout the meal he kept bringing us dishes at a speedy rate. Some of the dishes we didn’t even order just so we could try them (at no additional cost). I don’t know if I have ever had such a great experience at a restaurant in San Francisco. Everyone should come here, even if it’s just for the experience“
“We came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was hidden behind the Twitter building, and when we were searching for it, we walkd into a little walkway between buildings and find the restaurant. The decor and ambiance is so lovely! Really felt like I had entered this gorgeous Chinese-influenced fantasy-scape with birds flying above our heads in these beautiful birdcage lamps. We got: Har gow Xiaolongbao Matcha lava bun Fried wonton They also served this house blend decaf super floral tea that was hot and comforting to drink. We really enjoyed everything that they served, and had a good dinner here.“
“Used to be old D&A Cafe. But the funny thing is that it is now under the ownership of the bbq/roast duck lady from a super market that my mom used to go to. The food here is good and the portions are big. We usually get the wontons only soup and then the 3 items as it comes with soup. Their braised fish with tofu is amazing. Highly recommend. Their fried spare ribs / sweet and sour spareribs and green beans with chicken is a good staple as well. The service is fast. That is all you need. Ambience is nice but again remain the same as old D&A cafe. They got newer bench and tables though.“
“Y’all this place surprised me by how tasty it is and how close to my house it is!! Get here early!! The har gow had a deliciously tender and flavorful filling with a SUPER THIN WRAPPER 10/10 the thinly wrapped ones are hard to find and my favorite. I also tried some meat dumplings with a little bit of corn wrapped in wonton skin, very flavorful and juicy as well. Sesame balls were very crisp on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside, very tasty as well. It’s easier to order here if you know mandarin or Cantonese, but the folks here know enough English that it’s ok if you don’t.“
“Really authentic dim sum spot.Has dine in but can be to go as well. They speak some English and Cantonese. Maybe mandarin too. Prices are pretty cheap but can get high if you order a lot. The wait was not bad at all since I had a pretty big order. They didn’t have centruy egg congee and the other one wasn’t as good but all the other food was pretty decent. If you haven’t tried, I recommend.“
“This is the first time I came to New Moon Restaurant. I’m very impressed with the services, the quality of the food and the price is the cheapest around the area. This owner’s wife is very honest and friendly. I accidentally gave her too much money and she gave it back to me. Moving forward, I will always come back to this restaurant.“
“Happy to have vegan option in Union Square. Good service, very quick. I ordered flaming spicy tofu. It was not what I would consider flaming spicy ha! But it was fine. I enjoyed the crisp water chestnut. The meal was too big I could not finish it. I had to pay extra for rice. The plate seemed a bit overpriced to me. Gorgeous building and location, and lamp.“
“This is my go to spot for dim sum and Chinese food in town. We love the BBQ pork buns, salt and pepper fish, the roasted duck, and chow mein. The restaurant is located in an old bank in downtown Pinole. The room is large with plenty of seating inside, and plenty of parking outside. It can get loud when they are busy, and dim sum is always a full room.“
“A fun little dim sum spot in the heart of SF Chinatown. Food is incredibly fresh, made in the front kitchen for all to see. We had a highly responsive server and ordered a decent spread of food from dumplings to seafood to noodles. I really like the Crispy shrimp rice noodles roll and the shrimp dumpling. The beef chow fun was somewhat dry. It was very tasty and filling.“
“Their egg blossom soup is the best . I've only gotten soup here but the best I've had coast to coast hands down. So fresh, add veggies and extra green onions. You won't be disappointed, oh and the vibe is real hip and cool too.“
“Ordered on DoorDash this week, first time customer and the food was delicious. I ordered honey walnut shrimp, good portion, flavor (not soggy, not too sweet), BBQ pork buns - tasty & crab wontons - crispy. Probably going to order again and try other dishes.“
“Yummy Dim Sum & Fast Food in San Francisco offers a flavorful dim sum experience. I tried their combo with BBQ pork, roast duck, Hainan chicken, Thai-style chicken feet, spiced pork feet, and secret shredded chicken. All of them tasted decent! I look forward to trying other items next time.“
“I love this place. It's small and not super noticeable, but the food is so yummy and reminiscent of my childhood. They sell both frozen and ready to eat dumplings/buns, so I'll usually take some frozen dumplings home for a quick and easy meal. What I've tried so far: Frozen pork dumplings--20 for $10. Must have. Steamed taro buns--so soft and fluffy. Not too sweet. Steamed BBQ pork buns--a more subtle flavor than most dim sum places. I find it refreshing. Shrimp har gow--nothing special, but enjoy with black vinegar The owner is super friendly and is a one man job. He always makes sure you have sauces if you need them and offers directions on how to cook frozen items. Note that there are only a couple small tables inside. It's really more of a takeout place.“
