“We moved from NY 10 years ago to watch our granddaughters grow up. As you can imagine NYC has some of the best Chinese food in the world.NYC Chinatown once got an overall 5 star rating from Michelin based upon you can great food in almost any restaurant. Using that as a baseline we have found the food at Uncle Yu's to be excellent. Everything is fresh and well made. We mostly take out but whenever we eat there the service is great and the ambiance is very comfortable. Looking at the reviews on yelp I cannot understand why anyone would give them a low rating. Maybe they don't really appreciate great Chinese food.“
“Panda Express is basically the McDonald's of Americanized Chinese food. In other words, if you like then no reason not to go to this particular location because it's going to be like every other Panda Express. My only criticism in frustration from my most recent and only visit to this location was that I couldn't get the person to explain to me what constituted an entree item versus a side item.“
“The tastiest noodle soup I have ever had. I love ramen, pho, Thai soups and this place is the best. I can’t wait to go back. I’ll definitely be a regular. I got a front row seat, watching the chefs pull the noodles, while I ate my delicious spicy wontons and beef bone broth soup. There are 5 noodle sizes to choose from, to customize your soup, from angel hair to wide. Delicious.“
“Good, solid neighborhood restaurant with Chinese cuisine. The staff were friendly, and provided me with tea and shelled peanuts while I waited for my pick up order. There is a wide selection of items to choose from, and our order of a rice dish, noodle dish, salt/pepper ribs and cucumber salad was very good. I was there on a Saturday night, and even though the restaurant was well attended, my order came out very quickly. I would recommend this this restaurant :)“
“I can honestly say if you go here you will not at all regret it! The atmosphere is super nice, the staff is amazing, and the food! The food was absolutely amazing and between the 3 of us we ordered way too much but everything was delicious, definitely worth the trip!“
“The food is good not salty, we ate no meat today for its good friday holy week. The Egg Drop drop with seaweeds is perfect.Vegetarian options: Not too much because most of their dishes have pork.Kid-friendliness: Friendly with children and old too.“
“Without a doubt my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay, and I’ve thoroughly explored Oakland & SF Chinatown! We got the #8 (Taiwan beef brisket noodles) at the highest spice level (it’s really not spicy at all) with their hand pulled noodles and oh. My. Goodness. AMAZING!!! The vinegar in the broth was PERFECT, I didn’t need to add my own seasonings whatsoever. We also got the fried pork and chili won tons which were also delicious! I’ll definitely make the drive down here as often as possible!! Super happy to support this new small, local business. Also shout out to the service, because it was some of the best I’ve gotten in a long time. So kind!“
“We found this place on Yelp, and the photos looked interesting. We eagerly walked in without reservations and were greeted by a lovely gentleman who directed us to the check-in station. We were seated by a lovely woman who asked if we had been there before, and we said no. She proceeded to personally walk us through the menu and guide us based on our taste. We chose the cucumber salad. It was a hot day, and the minute we took a bite, we cooled off. It was delicious. The next item was the spicy pork wontons. Fire...they came out piping hot, so be careful, but they were delicious. The pork and shrimp soup dumplings were next. Top-notch and fun to eat. Also piping hot, we love it when our food is hot. We then had the pork pan-fried potstickers. This keeps getting better with every dish. For dessert, we had Banana Naan, white peach ice cream, or banana chocolate chip ice cream--all to die for.“
“We LOVE this restaurant!! The staff is so nice. The food is always hot & the vegetables taste & look fresh. The spring rolls & fried wontons are crispy like they should be. My husband is crazy about the curried chicken. The hot & sour soup is just spicy enough with fresh ingredients. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant!“
“We called for Easter lunch, was answered right away. Walked in and got seated, menu is online- fast and easy to order. Our food arrived shortly after, everything was tasty and good amount! We ordered Original Soup, Pork dumpling, Yang Chow Fried rice, Beef Onion, Fried Chicken and Egg rolls! Food is freshly cooked and good portion! We are all satisfied.“
“Got takeout. Food was so so good. After Sunflower Garden self-detonated with new owners we were depressed we couldn’t find amazing Chinese food in MTZ. Thank you Aberdeen. Will absolutely be ordering again. King Pow Chicken should have been a lot spicier though.“
“5 Spiced Kitchen is conveniently located in Montclair and the food is delicious! Our party of six enjoyed our shared entrees which included seafood, beef, potstickers and veggie spring rolls. 5SK has a full bar as well. Prices were a bit high- I'd say $$$ on a scale of 1-4. However, we will go back and enjoy again!“
“This wonderful gem always feels like home and has very interesting and healthy food. The Tea Salad has been a big draw for over 10 years. The lamb curry is exquisite. All of the staff are heartfelt and pure. Try this restaurant and have a Chai tea or glass of wine ? as well.“
“I was really heartbroken when I moved from SF to Concord because that meant not being able to buy food from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Shan Shan low restaurant was able to glued my heart back together again. The food here is extraordinary. Flavors are always on point. If you are looking for good quality food and good service please check them out!! I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! Si están en busca de comida China con un gran sabor y calidad no duden en venir a Shan Shan restaurant. La comida aquí tiene un excelente sabor. Muy recomendando. :)“
“Extremely kind service. My dad and I are regulars and they always greet us warmly like family. He's first-generation Cantonese and he loves this place.Parking: Not free but cheap. $2/hr.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible. No ramp but none needed. We use wheelchair for my dad.“
“Our party of 19 ate here the night after Christmas. Yo's on Hartz is such a nice and intimate place to eat. The manager, Evelyn, made sure our large party was well taken care of and gave excellent meal recommendations. Everyone enjoyed their food and cocktails. We look forward to dining here again!“
“wild ginger just is a solid spot to eat at. the length and texture of the hand pulled noodles are so satisfying to eat, and the place is pretty small so you can hear the loud smacking sounds of the chef making the noodles in the kitchen! so cool!!!my friends and I actually got a cold noodle dish on the house when we visited for dinner :) they are just so kind like that!the spicy dishes are actually not really that spicy which doesn't hit the spot for me exactly but still super enjoyable. i remember when they first opened like 6+ years ago, it was pretty spicy for me so either my spice tolerance has really gone up (it definitely has over the years), they toned down the spice for the customers, or both. either way, each time I come I leave full and satisfied!“
“My mom and I were running some errands and we were thinking Chinese Food for dinner. Since new management took over our favorite Chinese Food place downtown, it has not been the same. My mom had been to Bamboo years ago and enjoyed it. This is our new favorite Chinese food place. The service is amazing, the food was fantastic and all in all we both really enjoyed the atmosphere. This will be our place to go. The food is so fresh. The temperature was perfect. My water glass was never empty. Great place.“
“I LOVE this restaurant. The food just gets better and better. Every time we add something new to our order, we fall in love with more dishes. I love Chinese food and am super picky. So to have been able to find this gem has made me and myFamily super happy! Sunday movie nights are filled with yummyChinese food and a good show/movie!“
“Exceptional food and a hidden gem of a restaurant for anyone who adores Chinese cuisine. From the fresh, crisp egg rolls to the full range of kung pow specialties to the Hong Kong style dishes to the delicately prepared seafoods (once in a lifetime candied walnut prawns for a life-changing experience!). Very sweet and welcoming young couple (yea, Mary) are the owners, the staff are well-trained and carefully selected, the service is impeccable, and the prices are very, very competitive. You'll want to order extra dishes to take home for the next day(s). Wonderful. Ellie and Bob Fisher“
“Every time my girlfriend and I come here we get the absolute best service, the food is just spectacular and so authentic and always fresh. Literally the best salmon sashimi I have ever had. Aside from that, it's just so cozy and inviting and everybody is so friendly, oh and the portions are monstrous! You will love this place if you love authentic Japanese and Chinese food!“
“I was invited for a family private party at this restaurant and I was shocked at the affordable prices for all the delicious entrées. From the beginning with the egg drop soup, the spare ribs, fried rice, til the end with the almond cookies. The service, the quality and the price were all excellent. If you're in the area see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.“
“This is great place to enjoy a very good lunch special. I have only been here for lunch, so this review is based on my experiences during lunch time. Food: 5/5 Every time I have been here the food has been excellent. The portions are huge, everything is hot and fresh tasting, the sauces are great and I love the flavor and spice of the hot and sour soup. During the lunch special, it includes a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. I usually get the Kung Pao Chicken. It includes one entreé, rice (white or fried is included, or brown for $2 extra) 2 wonton chip, as well as hot and sour soup or wonton soup. The chicken is always very good and the veggies are always perfectly cooked. All that food for only 12 dollars! Service: 5/5 Every time we have been here we are seated quickly. In fact everything is very fast. Our food came out about 5 minutes after ordering and our server was ready to take our order within 2-5 minutes of sitting down. (But, they don't rush you. You have as much time as you need to look at the menu.) Ambiance/Space: 4/5 The ambiance is good, it's not anything extremely special, but it's comfortable. The restaurant is actually a pretty good size as well. They have 2 dining room areas, one of which has a bar (The room with the bar is usually closed during lunch). They also have a couple small tables on a small patio outside for nice days. Parking: 4/5 There is ample parking right in front of the restaurant. The only reason it is 4/5 is because this is a city parking lot and you have to pay to get a parking permit. Although it is very cheap. We paid like $1.50 for almost 2.5 hours! I'm sure it's very good for dinner as well. This is definitely a great little gem if you're wanting to explore the antique shops and the surrounding area in the nice little downtown of Martinez. After we eat here we usually like to check out the antique shop called Antique Corner right across the street. I will posting a review about them as well.“
“The food was excellent! I was with two of my counterparts as we were working in the area (I am from Florida, one counterpart from Las Vegas and the last from Visalia) and we had dumplings, kung pao chicken, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef with combination rice. It was absolutely fantastic! The service was incredible and we asked for absolutely nothing during our meal as it was taken care of before we even realized we needed it done.I highly recommend this location as you will not be disappointed.“
“Long wait but super worth it. Family owned and run. I believe it's just the husband and wife and a chef or two. Mongolian beef, shao lin chicken , and fried orange chicken wings all INSANE!! Not sure if I got the names right but I'm pretty sure if you mention those they'll correct you! Favorite Chinese I've ever had for sure!“
“Best Chinese restaurant in Contra Costa County. delicious food and excellent service. Can’t complain about anything. I’ve been going here a long time and I’m never disappointed. It’s family owned, there is never a wait, and the owners are very nice.“
“I recently visited United Dumplings in Oakland this past weekend and I can confidently say that it was a great dining experiences. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and efficient service. The restaurant itself is modern and cozy, creating the perfect atmosphere for a casual lunch or dinner. The dumplings were incredible. Each one bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The menu offers a variety of options, from classic steamed pork dumplings to more unique options. But the dumplings are not the only star of the show. The other dishes we tried were equally impressive. The beef noodle soup was rich and hearty, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Beyond the food, the service at United Dumplings was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to suggest dishes and offer recommendations, making our dining experience even better.“
“Have eaten at Peony Garden several times. Food is consistently good, atmosphere is nice, service is adequate and matter of fact. More authentic Cantonese dishes. They have a rewards program that needs some work but can be straightened out with some persistence. Would recommend for casual dining.Parking: If you get there early for lunch around 11:30am, you're more likely to get a parking space in the lot. Usually not that difficult-“
“Went here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and they were very accommodating. They let me bring a cake for a cake fee and let us stay a little over closing. It goes without saying that the food was delicious but going above and beyond by bringing us dessert plates and a candle is what will keep me coming as a customer.“
“This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. I come here from the East Bay to eat their food. The chicken is always delicious and not a cheap chewy chicken. I've ordered many other things on their menu and it's always good. The service is fast and friendly. The ambiance seems formal but is casual.“
“We are always looking for great Chinese food. We have lots of places that we go for Chinese food and most of them are very average. 5 of us ate dinner here a couple of weeks ago. Every dish we had was well prepared, tasty, and flavorful. Mongolian beef, Szechuan pork, lemon chicken, pork fried rice, chow menu were all great. I particularly loved the pot stickers. So many times they are kind of doughy and seem undercooked. These were light, nicely browned and crispy on the outside. Probably the best potstickers I've ever had and I've had a lot. Can't wait to come back.“
“This has to be one of those hole in the wall Chinese spots that if you quickly drove by, you wouldn't have realized it was a gold mine! First off, quality of their food was amazing! After getting back home with our to go box, the fried food was still CRISPY. It was the crispy fish filet that sold us! Wow, batter was amazing, fluffy and did I say... crispy? Let's talk about the service, upon walking in I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello and smile by a younger girl who looked like she was probably helping her family's business, scooping away filing orders and still able to friendly greet me. Ambience was more to go style but they did have some tables and benches you'd be able to enjoy your food at. Parking might also be hard to come by since it's on a main busy street as well. We will be back to support!!“
“I've ordered from here 2 times and had a different experience both times. The first time everything was oowee delicious! I got shrimp egg foo young, some kinda Hawaiian chicken dish I think, fried wings and something else. It was all very good. The second time I got shrimp egg foo young again, honey walnut shrimp and chowmein and it was all pretty average. The egg foo young the first time was very flavorful but the second time it was pretty bland. The same with the honey walnut shrimp dish; it was very plain lacking flavor; the same with chowmein. Tbh the second time it tasted like there was no MSG on my food; I don't have any problem with cooking with MSG and I think it's a wonderful flavor enhancer for dishes; my dishes the second time all seemed to be lacking umami. Maybe they left off the MSG the second time? I'll still go back again though. The people who work there are also very friendly.“
“The food and service were good. However, we were greatly disappointed that the waiter didn't bring us our change and let us decide how much of a tip to leave. More and more restaurants are just assuming you don't want change. So it is best to have a bunch of small bills with you or use your credit card.“
“I'm just giddy that we tried Becky's. In the place I lived before moving to Oakland, there was an expensive, high-end Chinese place we loved. The freshest vegetables, the best ingredients. We Doordashed every option and fairly hated all of them. Then we found Becky's. We've tried it three times and like it better each time. Even Doordashed, it shows up piping hot and wonderfully presented. The walnut prawns are excellent. The wor won ton soup was what I've been looking for since we moved here 5 years ago. I drive by the location on College Ave. almost every day but never thought of stopping in. Can't wait to try it in person.“
“Great spot on Park Street. The hand pulled noodles are fantastic as well as the sweet and spicy chicken wings. Other highlights include the beef noodle soup which is great on a cold night and the xiao long bao. There are so many Chinese restaurants in Alameda but, the noodles and wings make Ark standout amongst the rest.“
“I have been to a bunch of Chinese restaurants in the area, but I always keep coming back to Leo's. The food is just better here, and some of the best Chinese cuisine you'll find in the East Bay. The unassuming family-run restaurant is rather small, but the service is excellent, and the food is always fresh and flavorful. And they are very agreeable to modifying a dish to suit your taste. The menu is large and features some unique dishes. The tangerine beef was a perfect combination of sweet, tangy, and crispy... almost like eating candy. And the dried cooked green beans are a regular favorite for me, crunchy and flavorful. They have a full bar and wine list too. Always a good meal here.“
“Really good food .Tell them the ginger man sent you. They will even change the food a bit.As of April 24th I see they have indoor dining again.Today lunch for me was the Wor Won Ton soup.I have had it many times because it is so good. You’d be hard pressed to find a better one.“
“BRING CASH, Classic old school American Chinese food. This place been open for 47 years( I know because I asked the lady working behind the counter). It taste like it did when I was a small child. The dry fried ribs taste the same..I remember when me and my dad would go get haircuts at Jackie's cuts and Styles a few doors down and my dad would buy a Quart of dried fried ribs. We could sit in the van post hair cut eating dry fried ribs with hot mustard. IT TASTE THE SAME. No it's not pretty but the food Go Crazy. I didnt get to take a picture because I ate it too fast.“
“Good Chinese food, but of course any such place has hits and misses. We loved the Szechuan shrimp and chow mein, not so much General chicken and chicken with spicy garlic (I think that was it, flat chicken slices with too much breading). Overall one of our favorite Chinese places in the extended Tei-Valley though.“
“I feel like this review is going to be unfair, because last time we had an out of this world experience. First visit. The restaurant was completely empty. An older gentleman suggested an amazing slow braised meat in curry. It was so tender and tasteful beyond description. We waited a while for that dish. Others in my party praised the food as amazing as well. Second visit. We tried to get that meat braised in curry and received a beef version of curry chicken. Now it wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. The food us still pretty good, but after that first visit, it's really hard to compare anything to the flavors we tasted. So, I am going to still give it a 4 stars eventhough I feel that there has definitely been a change in taste and flavor.“
“They are truly the kindest people, the food is made with love and so reasonably priced. I cannot believe how much delicious food I get for the money. My partner had the honey walnut shrimp and wonton soup, we shared the chow fun, veggie combo and kung pao tofu, all were very delicious. The give you sesame balls filled with red bean paste that are so delicious“
“Berkeley Students' Best Bang for the Buck! New Management Brings a Fresh Culinary Experience!Hello everyone! Today, I want to introduce you to a restaurant located in Berkeley that used to be relatively unknown, with mediocre food. However, now, with new management taking over, it has undergone a remarkable transformation, making it the go-to place for Berkeley students in terms of value for money! The restaurant's name hasn't changed, but the owner has, so make sure to remember the address!First, let's talk about the prices. At this restaurant, $100 can easily satisfy two people with an abundance of delicious dishes! Whether you're a student or a working professional, this price point is incredibly budget-friendly. What's more, the quality of the food has seen a significant improvement. If you're a fan of spicy food, then this place is an absolute paradise for you. Their spicy hot pot and hot dishes will not disappoint. Moreover, if you feel it's not spicy enough, you can request extra spice, and they'll tailor it to your taste.Overall, the changes at this restaurant are truly astonishing. Whether it's the taste of the food or the affordability of the prices, it's hard to believe. If you're a Berkeley student, this place is undoubtedly the king of budget-friendly and nearby dining options. Don't miss out on this opportunity; hurry up and give it a try!“
“The food is tasty and spicy, which I like, I ordered the Mongolian beef. It wasn't clear or stated on the order platform that this was just the Mongolian Beef. Apparently it does not come with rice which is very disappointing. It should be clear on the order app that this doesn't come with rice. This is first time I didn't get rice with my Chinese meal.“
“The food was so tasty. I’m so happy that they have indoor seating. The new owners are very happy to serve us. Please give this place a try.Vegetarian options: We do love our meat dishes, but they have plenty of veggie dishes.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy for people who need help In a wheelchair.“
“Very lovely owners who cook and clean themselves and make DELICIOUS food. Please, if you're looking for a nice change of pace, come try this restaurant out. Such friendly staff ( all family) and very quiet, nicely lit atmosphere. Quick to come out with food and very gentle attitudes toward customers. Will definitely be coming back here again.“
“Went out for lunch with 3/10/24 Sichuan is located in a quiet area. Outside, no wannabe macho men making vehicular racket. Inside, no misbehaving parents training their children to be noisy neighbors. My not so clean daughter had Some Nerve to complain about smudge in her teacup. The waiter explained that "the cups are clay and the tea stain is impossible to remove". I'm thinking of calling it tea patina maybe? The service and presentation was Fine, Almost Everything tasted delicious. That interesting Szechuan spice yummy umm. Moist pork shoulder with crunchy and chewy skin oh yes.. Lip numbing tofu squares pressing sweetly on my tongue! Save me! Take me back for more! Ok I'm getting carried away but it was a very good meal and worth 60 miles on the odometer. Almost all the dishes were perfect. The only complaints? The potsticker wrapper was a bit chewy. Also the Walnut Prawns were conspicuously short on walnuts and one son wanted more sweet sauce on them. I found them refreshingly not too sweet. Check out the pics. And visit my new gem in Pleasant Hill.“
“So I tried going to a restaurant with a hotpot called shabuya WORST place ever I couldn't get a seat the process to get seated is ridiculous. So bam I google HOTPOT restaurant and boom steamboat I call the young lady is so sweet she says No reservations needed I get there it's my first time me and my family party of 6 they explained the process and they had all the sauces and paste to go with the food unlike shabuya per my daughter no seasoning what so ever.. so boom we're eating it's nice and family friendly this is a tea good authentic place and the staff is so respectful sweet and helpful I don't usually tip but man I gave them a 20$ tip and went back 3 days later just myself and husband and 2 daughters just to make sure in the kids of the day and again service was impeccable.. my new fav spot.. good food good ambience..“
“Cloudy Friday with a few missions accomplished in Oakland/Alameda Homedepot, we (my fiat and I) were slowly rolling out the main entrances. I was avoiding eye contacts with the Hispanic bros who are waiting for work in the front. Not now but good to know that you guys are around... I think... Wait! I see pho and 10.95 and where?!!! Tasty Bowl! and 10 minutes later, I'm sitting down waiting for P1 (pho combo) for $10.95. Not a scam... yet.... (btw, BBH no pig feet $13.95, with pig feet $17.95, I was amused by the flexibility they think this can be....: )) It's piping hot and a hearty bowl of pho. Not huge not small and just right, though it's hard to fish out the thin sliced stick meat. But there are quite few big pieces of briskets and even with some long time boil neck meats. Garnishments are quite fresh as well. Is it because they are next the very famous Pho King that they need to work extra harder? Regardless, if you take the trouble to post a sign outside of H.D. and I see it, I'm sold. Probably no one would disagree with me that the amount of effort and energy you need to keep the business running, safe, competitive, profitable (another 100 words later), you need more than 10 miles of work and imagination. Plus, have you ever seen any restaurants have their original price crossed out with a discounted price? I've never. They exactly remind me of the ppl in Vietnam, creative and survival oriented. This is why they caught another immigrant like me. Only suggestion is to clean the table and siracha bottle better. They are kind of greasy. Sometimes cleanness is the first thing to propel ppl. It doesn't take much to correct it. Slowly rolling out of the mall now...“
“10/10 really delicious! After Mandarin Garden closed down, been searching for a place that has jjajangmyeon and jjampong as similar to theres. Been knowing the restaurant owners previously and they recommended Great Wall and the owner would sometimes work as a chef here!! Food was great, honey walnut prawns were such a huge portion and the egg fried rice was flavorful as well. The jjampong hit the spot as well and the portions for everything were massive. Assorted appetizers were very tasty, their sauces complimented it a lot and I definitely want to try their calamari next time! I loved seeing all of the locals coming in, and by the atmosphere alone you can tell the food and service will be good. (They were very attentive)“
