“It’s a little on the pricey side but the soba is made with care and you can taste it and feel the excellent texture. The broth is also very good with a rich and satisfying flavor. I had the tempura soba combo and it was about $22. Also got the sashimi for $26 which was very good even though it was also expensive! All in all a great place to return to when I feel like splurging on a nice bowl of noodles.“
“Best Thai food in the Bay Area. The Khao Soi soup is an explosion of flavor and so delicious. The way they package it to go, your soup and chicken stay hot and your crispy bits stay crispy it's magical. Every time family visits me here, I order from here. The staff is also incredible. I will continue to frequent this place regularly until I leave the Bay.“
“Best KFC in oakland hands down!! Everyone is super friendly and was so welcoming! I got the soy garlic chicken and the spicy rice cakes and it was so crispy and juicy! i love supporting small businesses and i cant wait to come back and try other things on the menu!!“
“delish. I had the Chongqing street noodles and they ruled. also had the cucumber, which was delicious (I'm not even a huge cucumber fan but the sauce was *awesome*). spice level is good if u are like me and like spicy stuff.service was exactly what I wanted it to be: stuff was brought promptly and the ppl were nice. u pay just after ordering so u don't have to call over wait staff after eating, which was actually really nice.“
“As a Vietnamese, I highly recommend this spot as my go-to place. Not only do they serve delicious food, but it is also both friendly and affordable. I have personally tried the banh mi, pho, bun bo hue, and bun rieu, and have found them all to be exceptional. I highly recommend giving them a try!“
“Hands down the BEST of all Oakland Vietnamese has to offer! The fried chicken rolls are addictive, the veggies and chicken spring rolls fresh and flavorful. My favorites are their grilled pork Bahn Mi and grilled chicken Pho. Consistently delicious take out EVERYtime.“
“Vien Huong is a well-known restaurant that I've been going to since I was a little kid. They're most known for their noodle soups, particularly the Chow Jew Noodle Soups which have a combo of chicken, pork, and shrimp products. Some people like to order with soup on the side and eat their noodles dry with their sauces.I also really like their Beef Stew Noodle Soup which is very flavorful and their beef and beef tendon is very tender.Last but not least are their fried fish cakes. This place is family-owned and cash only.“
“I've been in DT Oakland for the past decade or so for a conference every year, and my friend recommended this spot. I'm glad to finally check this out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, usually metered parking. Seating: Great for groups. Room for about 70 people with good groups for 5 or more. Vibes: Welcome to Downtown Oakland. You're close to a lot of other good eatery spots, historical monuments, and other pleasant sightseeing places. The place itself is nothing too flashy. It's a grit and grind area, but they are unapologetically proud of their social recognitions. There's nice pop music in the background. Great place for a food adventure or family/groups. FOOD: Deluxe Combination Chow Mein (Recommend) This is a wonderful medley of beef, bok choy, bean sprouts, onions and chicken with their hand-cut signature noodles. The noodles were truly one of a kind, from their appearance to their soft/chewy texture and nutty flavor. The sauce was reasonably mixed around, which made it pretty savory. Be sure to ask for some hot sauce! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Ordered for pick up and they were prepared! TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Good food, reasonable prices, and a calming experience. Yes there are lot of food choices here but their noodles really do stand out. I appreciate the delicious food and their hard work. Wishing the best to Charles Hung, family, and team on their business! TIPS: * Too many choices! Bring a friend or two to mix and match * Top 25 noodle places in San Diego!“
“Came by on Tuesday night and it was a slow night, with lots of tables still open. Everything is pretty straightforward. You can add beef or lamb in your order at the counter (not available at the self serve area). I aimed for a medium plate of food and accidentally got myself a large plate by the time I got to the end of the self serve table. I just kept piling on item after item, oops! I did end up with leftovers, which I packed and happily finished for lunch the next day. I like heat, but the lowest level of heat for the stir fry was just about enough for me. Anymore heat and I don't think I could enjoy the food. I'd love there to be a level or two below this lol. I was expecting a mild, tinge of spice, but this felt like a full on medium. I liked my plate, but my stomach didn't like me afterward. Their strawberry tanghulu was good! Wanted to try a tomato version but the one left in the box didn't look really fresh. Looking forward to coming back to try more!“
“The space was much larger than I anticipated so plenty of room to spread out. Love the Friday hours where they don't close after lunch so I don't have to hurry to get there. Staff was attentive and super friendly and we really enjoyed the food. If, like us, you just want them to bring the food - order at once and they bring everything when it is ready. Since some of the items come to the table super hot this allows some time to cool down. If you want things more in courses, stagger your order. We enjoyed a Foggy Day IPA, the Xiao Long Bao (probably my fav), Pan-fried Pork Buns (wait, this might be my fav), and Chicken with Shiitake Mushroom Dumpling. So fun to share and can't wait to go back and try more. I would like to know who thought Country and Western was the right choice of tunes to set the stage.“
“For the regular person, any pho might but do, but for the connoisseur this place is for you. What you will find here:Bone broth made from scratch, meticulous attention to detail and high quality ingredients. What you find at other people's spot: too much MSG which let you know that they rushed on their broth and did not take time to do it right.“
“This restaurant is incredible. Everyone walks in like it's just a normal Thai restaurant... The food is superb and out of this world. The flavors in each of the dishes we tried were unique, layered and sophisticated.A true delight just like the staff and servers.Delicious cocktails and good wine as well.“
“I must say, from the service to everything I tried today. It was all amazing! Quick and friendly service, flavorful dishes and awesome drinks. Nothing short of 5 star service. To know there’s a Anime themed ramen shop in the neighborhood brings me joy! I grew up watching pokemon and this place definitely brings back childhood memories and puts me in my element. Thank you all for such amazing service and food!“
“Broth was great. Noodles great and generous portions. But the add on ingredients where sad :( no mint- no cilantro, smelly sprouts.BUT free tea. They take Apple Pay.Parking: It’s Oakland, be careful and park close by.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: A lot of ample seating and easy entrance“
“Hole in the wall with good noodle soup, at very reasonable price. Guilin def has a distinct regional flavor and I myself like it alot. You would be amiss not to try it out. I'm not sure why this place is rated so low.The only downside are their hours. Can't get it for dinner after work!“
“I could not more highly recommend a restaurant. I ate here 3 times a week for years and never once disappointed - even after I moved away for two years and came back they still recognized me, asked how I was and gave me the best pho in the world“
“I recently visited United Dumplings in Oakland this past weekend and I can confidently say that it was a great dining experiences. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and efficient service. The restaurant itself is modern and cozy, creating the perfect atmosphere for a casual lunch or dinner. The dumplings were incredible. Each one bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The menu offers a variety of options, from classic steamed pork dumplings to more unique options. But the dumplings are not the only star of the show. The other dishes we tried were equally impressive. The beef noodle soup was rich and hearty, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Beyond the food, the service at United Dumplings was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to suggest dishes and offer recommendations, making our dining experience even better.“
“Best Vietnamese food in the East Bay hands down. Try their BBH, fried chicken wings, nem cuon, and bun cha hanoi. They have really good pho too. These are our must order items. So yes this area is a bit sketch but there is a parking lot. Bring your smallest car as the lot is tight.“
“they have so many vegan options! Spicy lemongrass with vegan beef and pork belly is my fave. But really, it's incredible to go to a pho place that has more than one vegan soup ?Also, the servers are always so kind and welcoming, every time I visit.Dietary restrictions: vegan options“
“Came here for drinks and appetizers. Amazing crispy catfish salad (so bright, balanced, savory, herbaceous) and the mak grut (keffir lime leaf) cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted—complex, fragrant, refreshing and just delicious. As a person with Thai ancestry who is picky about his Thai food, I definitely recommend this place for a creative spin on Thai food that still respects the proper balance of flavor, at very least based on the two things I tasted!Great service and atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to come back and have a full meal.“
