“Why is this my go to Mexican fast food place in the area? FRESH HAND MADE FLOUR TORTILLAS! Their service is great they are always happy to help you, and are glad you are there. (at least they make you feel that way) Very small place only 2-3 small tables inside and 3 more outside. I'm really not sure where I would put them with out the fresh tortillas, and I'm glad I don't have to. Their Chili Verde is one of the best around. Their Chili Colorado is really good. Their GREEN Salsa is Outstanding!! Really good nachos, but I find it hard to order tacos or nachos because I must have a flour tortilla. If your into bean and cheese burritos, "THE BEST" I add green sauce and sour cream....Amazing!! Keep it up!! Love um!“

“Defiantly NOT Authentic but still so delicious. Stopped by on a very busy saturday and only waited 15 minutes to be seated so not too bad. The food ordered were really slow but luckily the server was re-filling the chips and salsa fairly quick. The drinks were really good and plenty of options of tequila. The decor was on nice from the cups to the tables. Overall my experience was good.“

“Fabulous Mexican food. Seriously!I ordered the Birria Queso Taco Plate which comes with a delicious bowl of warm consomme for dipping. The three Birria tacos are served on freshly made corn tortillas and topped with onions, cilantro, and salsa. Lime wedges, pickled vegetables (marinated sliced carrots, onion, jalapeño or bell peppers) and a spicy hot haberno sauce are served on the side.I saw a lot of Mexicans either eating at the bar area or with their families at the dining tables which is usually a very good sign that the place is authentic. The service is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is served quickly.Ice cream, margaritas beer and wine are also served. A child menu includes Taco Combo, Quesadilla, and Burrito for a reasonable price under $9.I highly recommend this newly-opened Mexican restaurant next to the bowling alley in Pismo Beach. They are opened later than most places in February. “El Tapatio is a very special place indeed, and just a hop, skip, and a jump from the bigger, Central California city of Santa Maria. The fun begins when you enter and see a colorful, festive, happy place with a giant, old juke box that sits quietly at the entry, and vibrant Mexican music oom pa pa' ing loudly from the open galley kitchen. But best of all, it's the delicious smells that greet your descriminating nose. Eddie and Mimi, the dedicated, friendly owners/husband and wife team, are very proud of their little diner, as well they should be. This little cafe has been in the family since 1988, handed down from father to son in 2018. They don't take shortcuts. Each morning starts with a trip to the local market for fresh produce. And living in Guadalupe puts you right at the center of some of the finest, vast agricultural heartland you could imagine in California. It doesn't get any better for quality. Our eyes got bigger and bigger as the food rolled out. The first thing on my agenda before ordering had been to sample the chile verde sauce. It was a bright, lightly herbal tomatillo sauce with chunks of the juiciest pork I could hope for. I knew immediately things were heading in the right direction, so I ordered a chile verde enchilada. But I wanted to make this a combo because I could not resist trying the chile relleno either. The Chile Relleno was magnificent. Eddie starts with a cheese-stuffed, monster-sized pasilla chile and a delicate batter. He lightly cooks it so that platter-sized pasilla is still slightly crunchy. His salsa for the chile is homemade, made of sauteed, fresh tomatoes and onion. Wonderful, not greasy. Mr. B had eyes only for the Camarones Mojo de Ajo. What arrived at our table was a huge platter, half of it filled with medium shrimp in a generous butter garlic sauce cooked to perfection. As if the entrees were not enough to bring tears of joy to our eyes, the sides of beans and rice were superb as well. And I have to mention that the complimentary corn chips and salsas brought to our table when we sat down were our first clue that we were in for something special. Two small bowls of dip arrived, one containing their rich, authentic refried beans topped with a drizzle of verde sauce and melted white cheese, the other was a vibrant cilantro avocado sauce with a slightly spicy tang. The tortilla chips were freshly fried...they make their own. Mimi assured us that nothing is pre-made nor popped in a microwave here. There is no microwave. Easily verified, tasting was the final proof. This will be a regular stop for us when we pass through. Just make sure they are open that day. Don't waste your time in Santa Maria. I challenge you to find better, home-style Mexican cuisine than here.“

“Well Ive been looking for an authentic old school taste of Mexican goods with unsatisfactory results. Until a couple weeks ago I overheard 2 guys as they left the restaurant "DUDE, that was really good!" So I read all the 5 star reviews, checked out the full menu and low prices, and ordered Chicken enchilada, rice and beans, and a soft shredded beef taco. Wow! It's definitely 5 stars! Food was piping hot, fresh, the taste I've been looking for! You get large portions, fresh chips and salsa, I cleaned my plate! And for less than $15 I got a great tasting filling dinner. And the cashier was very friendly. You MUST try it! I'm going back tonight!“

“Stopped by this taqueria tonight, our first night in Pismo Beach. This is a family owned business and we were immediately greeted by everyone there. The prices here seem excellent. I enjoyed my meal here and it was very filling after a long day of driving and hiking.I had the quesabirria tacos, chips and salsa, and a Mexican Coke. The portions were excellent and the food didn't disappoint. The quesabirria tacos tasted like the ones I had in Mexico and were very authentic. I would've liked to try some different salsas with the quesabirria tacos. I saw some in other pictures here but mine didn't come with any.Chips and salsa are not included with the meal and had to be purchased separately. The chips were made fresh and warm when I received them. For a single person, the portion size of the chips was a bit much. I would've preferred an option to purchase a half size or have some included with the meal.Looking forward to coming back soon to try their burrito!“

“Took 10 minutes to get our waters. But after that, the service improved. Love the food every time we come here, but the service is always lagging a bit. It's a little tight and cramped space, which i don't love or hate. It's cozy but not great. I still recommend eating here.“

“Wife and I ate their last night for the first time. Very impressed. The food was pretty fantastic. I had the tacos, they rival my local favorite in Efren's. I don't recall the name of what my wife ordered, however I had a bite and it was pretty tasty. The rice and beans were good, had some heat to them, though I over ate and couldn't eat it all. The service was nice. It is a small venue but was clean and had a very steady flow of folks coming in. Definitely would recommend and will go back.“

“Really really really good. I love coming here to eat and for take out. My wife always gets the nachos with fresh pico and I'll generally stick to a burrito. “The best taqueria on the Central Coast! I’ve tried most items on their menu, but their carne asada burrito is amazing. We have also recently used Taqueria El Guero’s taco platter catering option for a party which was a big hit. Not only was the food excellent, but the customer service and delivery far exceeded our expectations.“

“WOW this place is so good!! We ordered to go quesabarrilla tacos (edit, barillia tacos on DoorDash aren’t the same as the quesa barillia we ordered in the restaurant so be aware of that) and I can’t even express how delicious they were. We’ve had them many places and they were hands down the best we’ve ever had. There was even rice at the bottom of the consume that we scooped up with chips and ate it that way. The restaurant has a really nice patio that we probably would have enjoyed if it wasn’t raining and it was very clean. They have a salsa bar with a lot of options as well. Best Mexican restaurant in town by far! We can’t wait to go back and try more dishes.“

I like the variety of tacos offered and they do have Taco Tuesdays for I believe $1.59 each for select type of meat. Overall not to bad of a place, I will be going back for there Tripas tacos!!“

Most of the restaurants in Guadalupe have posted hours that they do not honor, but this restaurant is always open when they say they’re going to be open. “I make it a priority to go to La Simpatia whenever I'm in town. The tamales are awesome, the beans are the best anywhere and the tacos are the same as I've been eating my whole life. This is the best authentic Mexican food. Can't wait to go back next time I visit.“

“Like how they make the food in front of you, cashier made some comments under her breath but she seemed to be a kid so the misogyny can be grown out of. The man who took the time to help make the food was very nice definitely making up for any unpleasantness not related to the actual business, would go here every day if I could 10/10.
