“You can’t judge by the photos. I was not too impressed by photos, but this restaurant made the LA Times top 101 restaurants list, so there had to be a reason. The boiled rib is almost like Hainan chicken - boiled, but very flavorful. They make the rice in the lamb soup as well so the rice is also very flavorful. The rib meat dipped in the chili oil and finished off with the pickled carrots is a WONDERFUL flavor explosion. Really glad I decided to give the spot a try and not let the photos sway my decision.”

“Very unique and interesting flavor, but still delicious! Be prepared for your mouth to tingle and go numb from the spice 😛 I enjoyed the vibes here. I got the cold noodles and the noodle soup, both worth a try. Cold noodles taste really good, very rich, creamy and hearty flavor 😋 staff is really kind and explain the menu well. “Sushi is delicious here and always fresh - this is our fave spot in Blossom Market Hall! Great quality food, friendly service, and decent prices given the portion sizes and quality.

I’ve tried the Dragon Roll and the Tiger Roll and loved them both. The Tiger Roll has plain cooked shrimp, shrimp tempura, crab and cucumber with a lovely mix of sauces over the top. The Dragon Roll has spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber and onion also with delectable sauces on top.

The Dragon Roll was the winner for sure - the spicy salmon on top was some of the best I’ve had - not surprised it’s one of their best sellers.

Their rolls are quite large - more than enough for one person per roll and the prices are very decent. Their combos are pretty huge and an excellent bargain. We got my FIL a combo C and a Blossom Roll to go on our last visit - I was impressed by the presentation and he loved them both. Will have to try one next time!

Service was efficient and very welcoming. Order at the counter and they’ll give you a buzzer. The vibe in the market hall is lively and inviting - with lots of seating options and promising dessert choices once you’ve finished your dinner. Sushi Rolland is right inside the main entrance and there’s plenty of free parking on site.”

“This new location seems smaller than their previous spot. Doesn't seem they're fully set up yet as we got disposable bowls for rice and individual disposable cups for hot tea ($1.50 per person).

Food is still consistent though! Mushroom in brown sauce ($12.95), vege fish in brown sauce ($12.50), and tofu pumpkin hot pot ($12.95) are still good choices and they're all on the lunch special menu!

Surface level parking in the plaza gets congested very easily, so try the 2 levels of underground parking for more spots.”

“One of my favorite restaurants in San Gabriel! They offer several all-you-can-eat options, including Hot Pot AYCE, Premium Hot Pot AYCE, BBQ AYCE, and their Luxury AYCE. My personal favorite is the Luxury AYCE, which includes both premium hot pot and BBQ skewers. This option is available for dinner only.

For hot pot, you can choose up to three broths and then order from a huge selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, and other hot pot items, along with Chinese BBQ skewers. Desserts are also included and available at the self-serve station. I usually grab the roll cakes. There’s a huge variety overall, so there’s something for everyone!

Parking is easy since there’s a parking lot, and the service is great. The servers are attentive and happy to answer any questions we have about the menu. Always a great experience here!”

“Absolutely the most beautiful fine dining Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles! It is very modern in design.. the ambience is very elegant..which is so different from the outside.. located in a mediocre location in a boring small shopping mall. Baking With Ish 264 S Mission Dr Space B, San Gabriel Bakery • $

“My partner and I went to Blossom Market Hall to grab a coffee and couldn't help but be intrigued by the delicious smells coming from Ish's stand. We've been there a few times, but the first time we went, he had made a pumpkin scone that is absolutely one of the best pastries I've ever had. The texture was exactly how a scone is supposed to be: an initial crunch, but soft and pillowy on the inside, not hard and crumbly like many scones at other bakeries.

We have tried a total of 5-6 different items now, and every single one of them has been a delight to eat. None of his pastries are overly sweet, honoring the flavor of each, whether ube, pumpkin, or another. My only complaint is that he hasn't had the pumpkin scone the other times we've gone; it appears he changes up the menu day-to-day, which is great, but I've been really wanting that pumpkin scone again! If you are looking to indulge in a sweet treat but don't want to end up in a sugar coma, Ish's is the way to go, trust me.”

MIAN 301 W Valley Blvd #114-115, San Gabriel Chinese • $

“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)”

With love, 819 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel Ice Cream Shop • $

“This Taiyaki + Ice Cream place is at the level of other giants such as SomiSomi. The soft serve has a perfect texture (I tried the Pure Milk flavor with a Taiyaki on top, the Taiyaki being filled with Nutella), the service is quick and efficient, and the store was crowded when my two friends and I went on a Saturday evening. The ambiance is great too, there are so many pictures showing what the options are like, and there are clearly-illustrated menus spread throughout the restaurant. The toppings are available for the customers to grab and add to their ice cream as they wish, and everything, from the Oreo crumbs to the Banana chips are great. You can truly feel that every single item in this store is, indeed, made With Love.”

First and foremost, you get house made boba they make in house (which is rare). The owner does it herself from the front. 2nd I had a drink that was made too sweet. Unfortunately, I couldn't go back to exchange so I had to go the next day and well, I got offered for a replacement no issue from the owner. “The Northeastern flavor of braised delicacies, my husband and I packed a lot and took them back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I just got home and ate Harbin red sausage and smoked chicken rack. The taste is exactly the same as what is sold in our hometown in Shenyang. Why is it not available in the Bay Area? The red sausage meat is moderately salty and has a light garlic aroma, which is so rare. The same goes for the smoked chicken rack, which is not salty and has a full flavor of five-spice smoke. I'm looking forward to bringing back the pork head meat, because pork head meat is difficult to cook and requires a lot of effort to shave off the hair. I heard that the two owners are both from Shenyang. I hope that a store like this can be opened in Los Angeles for a long time, because the Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles are really bad. If this store opened in the Bay Area, it would kill other stores in a matter of seconds.”

Bistro 1968 402 S San Gabriel Blvd Ste A, San Gabriel Dim Sum • $$

“Food 4/5 - Ordered typical dim sum, everything tasted good and was nice and hot (except egg tarts). Siu-mai was delicious, good size packed with lots of pork (soft with no chewiness). Shrimp in har-gow is good size and cooked perfect (nice bounce texture). Shrimp/leek dumplings have soft skin with good filling portion. Turnip cake has nice char on the outside and soft inside. Rice noodles are very soft. Sponge cake is soft and moist. Egg tarts were definitely baked earlier in the morning as it wasn’t warm, crust could be more flaky but it’s fine. Squid w/ black bean sauce, the squid wasn’t stir-fried long enough to absorb any flavor. Poached chicken was fine.

Service 5/5 - Service is good, servers pass by consistently to pick up empty dishes and refill the tea pot without flagging someone down.

Atmosphere 4/5 - Interior is good with Chinese themed decor.

Overall - Had a pleasant experience and would visit again.”

“Like this spot and it’s consistently good. The cold pot fish isn’t actually cold — the fish and broth are hot when served, just not kept boiling, which keeps the fish super tender. Lots of fresh black fish slices, very clean and flavorful.

Also loved the golden soup tofu beef — rich, tangy, and generous with the beef. Service was friendly and patient as always. Solid spot in SG that never disappoints.”

King Com Tam 120 E Valley Blvd Suite I & J, San Gabriel Vietnamese • $

“Back in October, my friends and I spent a month vacation in Vietnam and we were introduced to Com Tam. We wanted to see if King Com Tam Vietnamese Restaurant is as authentic as we had in Vietnam.

Com tam - Vietnamese broken rice is rice that was broken during the milling process. If you're unfamiliar, broken rice has a couscous-like texture. The broken rice plate options might seem extensive, but it's just rice with various combinations of pork chop, beef, pork, fried bean curd with shrimp paste, egg roll, sausage, shredded pork and skin, and steamed egg loaf. All served with veggies, a small bowl of broth, and fish dipping sauce. The plates run from $12.99 to $20.99 for the 10-item plate. If you don't see exactly the plate combination you're looking for, you can just tell the waiter which items you want and they'll charge accordingly. Just ask if you can swap items.

Not Vietnam authentic, but then again I am no expert but definitely satisfied our cravings and brought back memories of our month long trip. We loved it so much that a month ago during the rainy weather that we went back so we can try the noodle soup/pho. The portions were generous for around $13.99 a bowl. I was craving Bun bo Hue, Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup and my friends ordered beef pho and hu tieu, a Vietnamese Phnom Penh-style seafood noodle soup with pork and shrimp. It was good but I've had better.

Service was good. The ambiance and presentation is spot on.”

“Was around the area so decided to grab lunch and it wasn't as great as before. We ordered the seafood egg noodle and seafood white noodle, both lacked flavor. The service here was very good, they were quick and attentive. I also liked the fact that they asked other team members for help if they were not sure of something instead of blowing you off like they didn't understand what you wanted.

“Omg, hands down the best tacos in the 626. And trust me, I’ve had my fair share from TJ Tacos to Tacos El Gordo in San Diego and even Taco El Franc. This spot is legit. The line every night says it all.

This time, I ordered the baked potato with cheese and lengua (tongue). Absolute perfection. They serve it with handmade corn tortillas that take everything to another level. The meats here are packed with flavor. My usual go-tos are the al pastor, cabeza (cow’s head meat), and tripas (beef intestine). Next visit, I’m eyeing the sausages, stomach, and carne asada.

And their salsa? To die for. It’s fresh, spicy, and ties everything together perfectly.

The team here is friendly and clearly takes pride in what they do. You can taste the care in every bite.

They’re parked right on San Gabriel Blvd with a solid setup. The ambiance is just right, and honestly, the only thing missing is some outdoor dining space.

Parking is free and easy on the street.”

We like them so much we’ve made the 20 minute drive several times already during our short stay. The drinks seem to run a little sweet so I make the less sugar option. They seem to automatically add a jelly to the drink (at least the several we’ve ordered).

“I went to Xiaomei this morning to buy a takeout with three dishes and one soup, and then went to the nearby Great China Supermarket to buy some vegetables. I took out Xiaomei and retrieved my eight yuan and seventy cents, wrapped in Xiaomei. In my receipt, the lady at the Greater China counter refused to accept one of the $5 bills, saying it was a counterfeit bill. If it were normal, forget it, it would be a trivial matter. But then I thought again, I have been swallowing my anger all my life, and I am brave this time. I am not deceiving or intentionally blackmailing Xiaomei. As a result, the money was returned, but the words spoken to each other were not very kind. I went home and reflected on my words and deeds. I am a Buddhist, and I felt sad that I did not meet the standards required by gods and Buddhas. I am a new customer of Xiaomei. I was introduced by a friend. To be honest, Xiaomei’s food is indeed of high quality and low price. I should be more grateful. So I would like to apologize to Xiaomei!”

I also had the carne asada fries, which were hearty and satisfying. The guacamole in the carne asada fries is seriously addictive, and their salsa, along with the pickled jalapeños and red onions, added a fresh, tangy kick.

At $2.50 per taco, the prices are reasonable for the quality. I’ll definitely be coming back.
