“Amazing sandwiches. Wanted something warm so we shared the tuna melt on wheat hoagie and Reuben. Both were excellent. I think I preferred the tuna melt but that's bc I love tuna melts in general. Warning tho, that thing was gigantic. A twofer. Luckily I was starving after skiing. The Coaqua coconut water was also really good.“

“Little Truckee Ice Creamery made our wedding cake, and it was absolutely perfect! We loved how gorgeous the ice cream cake was, and appreciated Kenny’s attention to detail with our decorating requests. Our guests LOVED it! This is some of the best ice cream we have ever had and could tell that it was fresh and made with quality ingredients. I highly recommend getting an ice cream cake from Little Truckee Ice Creamery, and I hope we have the pleasure of visiting the store when we return to Tahoe.“

“The food is good tasting and healthy. As a local I eat here several times a month. The breakfast burritos are good and lamb bowl as well. Only complaint would be overpriced salads for what you get but overall good choice for a healthy eatery.“

“We came here for lunch on one of our days in Truckee. We don't drink beer but we ordered some other drinks that were amazingly delicious. For our appy, we ordered these shrimp bao buns that were super flavorful. I ordered the bratwurst hotdog and that was yummy with a healthy helping of sauerkraut and two types of dip - cheese or grainy mustard. To be honest, that bratwurst wrapped in a pretzel bun could stand on its own without any dips...OMG! so good that u still remember how it tastes nearly a week after our trip. My husband ordered the turkey burger and that thing came loaded and he said it was one of the best turkey burgers he's ever had. We loved this place and will definitely be one of our go-tos in Truckee when we're up next! Thank you Alibi team...great work!“

“I absolutely love this place! My family and i always have such a nice time. The staff are really nice and the food is so good! I get the crab benedict and honestly it's the best, you also can't forget the mimosas! On the weekends the wait is long but as long as you're with great company it flies by. My dad did want to say the pancakes can get a little dry but honestly it's a wonderful place to have breakfast/lunch! Will be going again very soon!“

“I wanted to like it more than I actually did. It's a nice little coffee shop with a good vibe. Free wifi. In a strip mall with several other restaurants on Donner's Pass Road. Breakfast and lunch until 1 30 p.m. Extra charge for disposable containers. My 16 ounce dark coffee was weak, maybe a coffee shot for an 8 oz with 16 oz water. Baked goods were fine though and my wife liked her iced Matcha.“

“Finally was able to try cloud sushi and it did not disappoint. Coming from a sushi obsessed truckee local, this is the highest quality fish you can get in the area, hands down, debatably better than anything you can get in Reno. This is not all-you-can eat pricing, but high quality fish prepared by a chef and the pricing reflects that. Well worth the money!“

“This place is a ton of fun if you enjoy spooky and occasional interesting vibes - food is always incredible - cocktails are great - I wish they had better wine and beer - but their pastrami is amazing - consistently great - their specials are always inventive and fun. The live music is great - but if you aren't a fan of ghosts or vibes this may not be the place for you. I've met three there so far - tons of fun. Lively spirits and great service! “Here's the low-down: 1. Food - There's a lot of attention to detail here; there's fresh baked bread, there's Gumbo made daily, there's fresh fries. This is not a place that embraces canned / frozen foods. The medium rare burger I had was perfect with fresh fries and (seemed like) a freshly baked bun. My one complaint was the first cup of coffee; it tasted a little burned, but we were there late in the day. Also, I'd have rather seen a smaller menu featuring only what they do best, but that's my preference. I did not hear any complaints from anyone else while I was there. 2. Service - It was busy, and it's a coffee shop; you're not here to have a Maitre d' experience. You're going to get the friendly coffee shop vibe that borders on overly familiar. If you're not used to this, it might feel uncomfortable, but stay with it, you'll expand your horizons. 3. Ambiance - Wagon train doesn't try to be what it's not; it's a coffee shop with some fantastically crafted food. It feels like a locals-only gem despite its location in the middle of the downtown area. This is a rare gem where corners are not being cut; this kind of place is rapidly becoming a lost bit of Americana, definitely get in there and taste it while you can.“

“Friendly, nice owners! The Food is fantastic as well! My family recently had to go gluten free and I was SO excited to find fabulous food so close to home. I get to swing in to pick up my Meatless Monday's 3 course meal, and dinner is done for the night. Perfect place to go after picking up my kids from sports practice and know I've got a gluten free, locally sourced and tasty meal to feed the whole family. I buy organic and local myself, and enjoy supporting businesses that do the same.“

“Their pizzas are wonderful. Definitely worth trying if you haven't. Don't go there often as they are out of the way for us. I'm compelled to write this review because of a fee they are now charging for pizza boxes. It was just under $4 and is literally to cover the cost of the pizza box. Very odd. I ordered mine to go but I'd be curious if I ate it there and then asked for a to go box would they also charge me? To be honest that whole tactic rubs me the wrong way. Just increase the cost of you pizza to offset it. What's next, bathroom use fee? How about a dish wash fee? Obviously these are absurd examples but it's the same idea. All of this is the cost of doing business. Ultimately it's up to the owner to make their choices but I just wanted them to know that it's a bad approach. That's my two cents. “This place was amazing! One thing I've always wanted to do was to go venture out to tasting menu restaurants and I'm so glad I found Trokay! The chef was super nice and I enjoyed talking to her between courses! The servers were great as well, I honestly fell in love with the ambiance of this place! “I've never really had professional ramen before, just cheap packets, and never thought I liked it until I went here. I've been thinking about it every day since. On my second trip, we were seated by the window, and I got to enjoy watching this delightful round boy. Which also happens to be my favorite bird! “When your kid requests a dish twice in a row for the two nights we stayed in North Tahoe, you know that it's that good. The first night we had to get it to go, the wait was an hour long and there is no way a kid will wait for food that long. Ordering the food and pick up was really easy, and staff is very friendly and patient. We ordered the gouda mac and cheese with ham, and by far one of the most flavorful mac and cheese I had. The sauce, the cheese it was just so yummy. We also got the sausage pizza which was very meaty and tasty. Second night we were lucky enough to get a table, and staff is very friendly and informative. Inside had a full sit at bar and also regular tables. The second night we ordered the same gouda mac and cheese and thai curry pizza. Was very satisfying both nights. After a day in the snow, this place hits the spot.“

“Food is delicious! Every dish is well-balanced with a focus on bringing out the best in quality ingredients. We ordered the arancini per other recommendations and it was tasty. The charcuterie board is on point - a little bit of everything from familiar to unique. The Brussels sprouts are roasted and served with a balsamic-tinged sauce. The kale salad has tahini that balances a lemon tang. We split the steak frites and the butternut squash ravioli which were both done well. Service was fast and friendly. We ate an early dinner right after the lifts closed and it was only us plus a couple of other tables. The inside of the restaurant is bright and fresh. It's a tad expensive - appetizers/main/drinks might run ~ $75pp but a good value given the quality of the food.“

“I am no Indian food expert, but what a great option post snowboarding/skiing while you charge your car at electrify america. We had the samosa chaat, papri chaat for starters. Then, the lamb vindaloo, navratan korma, and chicken vindaloo as entrees with garlic naan in the side. All the entrees come with rice. Also drank mango lassi's. Everything was good, would re-order except garlic naan, probably would get regular naan instead. Felt like the minced garlic on top was a bit burnt. Few ethnic options in Truckee, so if tired of the standard burgers, pizza, other American foods, and don't want to cook, this is a good option. Clean restaurant, clean bathrooms. Would return if we had to charge around dinner time and didn't want to cook.“

“This has been one our go to sushi restaurant in town for the last 5 years. Love the atmosphere, especially in the summer on the patio. I love the variety of fish, but they still don't have my favorite sweet shrimp. The chefs are really nice and try to accommodate as long as it's not busy for them. the fish is always fresh and the food is great quality. You don't get real Japanese sushi chefs, but that's okay... Seems that's a dying thing in California as it seems to be similar in soCal. Everyone is always nice, but I am giving it only 4 starts because this is literally the only restaurant in Truckee and Tahoe that I frequent that I don't get into conversation with the staff. My kids are always making a comment about how I am friends with everyone in every restaurant we go to. Most of the Staff have been there for years which is a good sign that they like their jobs, but I cannot accuse them of being a warm, outgoing bunch. They do their job and that seems to be about it. but I will still go. My other go to is Maki Ali and while their menu doesn't have as much variety, I always feel they are happy to see me. The chefs strike up a conversation and the owner is a sweet gem who works hard. I don't think I've ever seen the owners at Drunken Monkey.“

“Excellent food, great service. We had the garlic knots as an appetizer, and they were more original than any other I've had. They take the dough and roll it thin and slice it like cinnamon rolls. This delicate rolled dough is more pastry than knot, but that touch imbues it with the flavors of the freshly chopped garlic that adorns the top and sides, along with freshly cut parsley and the copious olive oil that the rolls sit in. Delicious! We also had the slice of the day, along with some Sicilian slices topped with mushrooms and fresh basil. Often when pizzerias say they have basil as a topping, it's dried basil, and that seems like cheating as it's just another dried spice or herb. But here we had piles of freshly chopped basil that had that amazing aroma wafting into our noses as we dined. The Sicilian slices are thicker than their normal slice -what they call "New York thin." There is a toastiness to the crust edges that was quite satisfying. If you're ever in Truckee, this is the place for amazing pizza and friendly service.“

“My family is staying at a friend's cabin this week and this coffee shop is a must any time we're in Truckee. The gluten free bakery items are delicious, the lattes are consistently great and the customer service has been fantastic. The cashier is very efficient and kind to make tweaks to drink orders (which I'm always a bit embarrassed to give!). Love the foam artistry of barista too. I tend to like trying out different coffee shops when on vacations/getaways...but here I am at Coffeebar the third day in a row.“

Food: My friend and I ordered the following to share: Beet & Burrata Salad - A little small for the price, but it was pretty good Mac & Cheese - This was pretty good. It was decadent. Mushroom Risotto - This was good, but not super memorable. Beignets - These were plentiful and delicious. They were a little too crispy for my taste, but I would order again. Hubby had street tacos (tongue and stomach), boys had carnitas super quesadilla, mom had chile verde burrito a la carte (I really don't need rice and beans on the side), washed down with horchata. The whole family demolished the side of chips and Pico de Gallo ($2.50 I think, but worth it). My burrito was copiously drizzled with yummy green sauce and had big chunks of pork nestled in its folds, and a chunk of lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and chopped tomatoes on the side. So good. Not overloaded with rice and beans (maybe there wasn't any... and it was tastier perhaps because they were missing!) And for only $9.99 - seriously inflation fighting and not a price tag I have seen in the Bay Area in awhile (and since prices are sticky, a price will never see again... Oh woe is me). Nice ambiance too.“

The rustic atmosphere was comfortable, warm and steeped in great ski and mountain history. The meals were well prepared and delicious. I was there in the middle of the day on a week day, took a bus call, 5 mins and was "talked too" by the staff accusing me of harming the ambiance... So, good for decent tex mex dinner but not a great watering hole for locals...“
