“We did carry out last night, my first time. I love BBQ and this is now in my top 5, of all the places I’ve been in town. Really good quality meat, I love that their menu has lots of unique options different from others, easy access location. Next time we will dine in, the restaurant space seems great. Their specials look awesome too.Got the Texas ranger sandwich, pulled pork, fries, onion rings, and corn. All was excellent“
“If you don't like BQ now, you will after you eat BQ here. It is WONDERFUL. You will want to drink the BQ sauce!!!!....it is that good. It is a fun place to dine in...busy, friendly and casual. From wherever you are....its worth a drive to Kansas City to eat at Gates Barbecue!! Treat yourself! !!“
“Passing through KC on a multi-state road trip, looked up best BBQ spots and Q39 was on multiple lists. Lunch did not disappoint. Wife and I had the Judges platers. Chicken, pork, and sausage for her. Brisket, ribs, and sausage for me. All of the meats were amazing. Our server, Maddie M., was very friendly and helpful in choosing options. Normally we enjoy having a slower paced meal but since we're traveling it was nice that we were in and out in under an hour. Highly recommend!“
“Joe's is THE barbecue place. I feel legitimately spoiled living so close. Not much to say about this place other than everything is top notch, seriously, seriously delectable and delicious. Service is killer, their 180 Lager hits the spot every single time, and it's tough to beat for a nice bready, somewhat floral lager. Joe's is the benchmark for fantastic 'que near me“
“It's places like this that make our experiences even more special! The food was excellent and even more so for me as a burger fan. The service is excellent and leaves you wanting more…Wheelchair accessibility: Very affordable and super comfortable place“
“My Birthday dinner, I was able to reserve a table for 18 the day before it was tough but they worked with me. Our waiter Corey was AWESOME he was patient & courteous never got an attitude which I can appreciate and took care of all our needs. Great food & great service!!“
“Had an amazing time both times I’ve been here. But my favorite was when we had Patrick as our server. He was very attentive and patient when we asked questions. Gave us amazing alcoholic beverages recommendations. The meat selection is great! And food is so delicious you really have to come prepared to eat!!“
“OMG fantastic BBQ! Some of the best, most tender burnt ends I've had in KC! Definitely will be returning for brunch! We also enjoyed an appetizer w/$8 off for their "8th Anniversary Special" - we got the BBQ wontons - definitely would recommend. But I also saw the appetizer for onion straws - it was stacked about 6 inches high with onion straws across the 12 inch appetizer plate - it was HUGE to say the least & I was sad we didn't get that too after seeing it :) Kye was great! Very quick & on top of our needs. She seemed to be one of the few waiters/waitresses working & she kicked major butt! Thank you!!“
“This was my second time trying Kansas City bbq. My initial experience was at Joe’s bbq and that was excellent. Due to this, I had high standards coming here, and while the food was good, it wasn’t quite to the level of Joe’s.I tried the ribs, brisket and burnt ends. The ribs were good, but I wish they had a more smoked taste. Mainly tasted like the bbq sauce or seasoning. The brisket was sadly pretty flavorless. The burnt ends, however, were excellent. The smoke flavor permeated throughout each bite, which is what I look to in my bbq. This was the only dish that surpassed that of Joe’s.“
“Our family had the best experience here! We all ordered a variety of food to share and it was all outstanding! Our waitress was fantastic, she came frequently to make sure everything was going well and gave some great menu recommendations! We all left very full and delighted with our experience.“
“When I went here when Kari's first opened I was pretty disappointed, but I'm glad I gave them time to start their new business and another try a year later! This time the chicken shawarma was delicious, the baba ganoush was delicate and packed with flavor, their lentil soup was beautifully spiced. The pita was soft, with olive oil and zaatar, and the falafel was pretty good too. The atmosphere was great and the service was lovely! Make sure to try their special lemonades!Currently the best middle eastern on W39th!Vegetarian options: Falafel sandwich, lentil soup, baba ganoush, dolma, hummus, pita and more“
“Tried this local Gem for the first time tonight. it was by far the best BBQ my husband and I have ever eaten. The Pork belly burnt ends & brisket were melt in your mouth. The jalapeño sausage were the best my husband has ever had. The BBQ sauce was complimented the meats and was also very good. The street corn salad and lemon slaw were unique and would definitely recommend. Planning our next outing already to this place.“
“This place is AMAZING. We found it by accident as we were driving through on our way north. Hands down the best vegan soul food I have ever tasted. Collard greens were complex and flavorful, the corn bread was absolutely luscious, and the sauce on the vegan brisket was out of this wold. If they were in Minneapolis I'd eat there every single day. The space was bright and cheerful and the staff was incredibly welcoming. What a treat!“
“Came here for a quick bite before a Kansas City game. A family run restaurant with fresh ingredients and friendly service. They have a variety of food options including sandwiches, bbq and tacos. We tried their pork tacos and the pork was full of flavour and spiced deliciously. You can also tell all the ingredients are fresh. A great place to try if you’re in the area or heading to the stadium as it’s not too far from it.“
“Next time you're in Kansas City, go to Jack Stack BBQ and order the Crown Prime Beef Rib. If you don't, I will fight you!!! One of the most delicious meals I've ever had! (Coleslaw & hickory baked beans were my sides.) Only disappointment was not having my family to enjoy it with me.“
“Great food, went a couple of weekends ago, Easter weekend. Food was great, We had a family plate and that is for sure the way to go. We got to sample lots of different things. My Hubby said the Burnt ends were the BEST. If you are a burnt end fan these are worth the drive.“
“The food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Our waitress was sweet and professional. Great for gluten-free dining too! We loved the whole experience!Dietary restrictions: One of us has celiac disease, but there were plenty of delicious gluten-free choices.“
“My wife and I was heading to a different BBQ place when we stumbled upon this place. First off, the staff is amazing and friendly. We decided to start off with the Pulled pork egg rolls, let me tell you, these were amazing and the best egg rolls I've had. The smoke flavor from the pork really comes through and the sweet and sour sauce has a nice little kick to it. For our entrees, we both went with the 2 meat bbq meal, I had the pork belly and Thai sausage and the wife had the pull pork and brisket and we both got the Mac n cheese along with the jasmine rice it comes with. First off, you get a lot of food. The meat is spread over top the rice and it really goes well together. Our favorite was the heavenly pork, it had a nice smokey flavor with a little bit of sweetness to it. The brisket was juicy and tender and overall well smoked. My 2nd favorite was the Pork belly. Think bacon but much thicker and seemed deep fried? It was amazing but even better dip in the BBQ sauce. The sausage had nice flavors to it, one that sticks out was the lemongrass. It paired really well with the Tiger cry sauce, which is nice and spicy. Lastly, the Mac n cheese, it was delicious, the cheese sauce was creamy and smooth with a little spice. Think Velveeta and white cheddar. Overall this was a fantastic meal, one my wife was hesitant about at first but was amazed on how great the food was and we can't wait to go back and try the other items on the menu of what I would describe as Thai infused bbq. Well done Buck Tui BBQ.“
“I didn't remember to take a pic but OMG I was very impressed with the food, the taste, the portions and the customer service was excellent. 2nd time around my cowers and I placed a to go order and we ordered a little of everything so we could sample each other's and again they didn't disappoint! I will be reto your tub this week when I place an order. Oh the Baked BeansAre on point.“
“We're forever driving past SmokeTown BBQ, commenting that we needed try to it someday. Yesterday was the day! The inside is perfect BBQ decor, wood paneling, tvs, neons, and of course a Kelce Swift cutout that looks like a cute picture opportunity. You order at the counter, and they bring it out. Everyone we encountered was so nice, and the food came out quickly. My first time order is always a brisket/beef sandwich and either onion rings or beans. Although I've heard amazing things about the mac and cheese, we didn't try it. The bun was soft and fluffy, the beef sliced thin (the way I prefer it), and the medium sandwich was the perfect size for me to demolish after skipping lunch. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, and delicious, but I can't confirm if they're made in house, for those who quest for the perfect onion ring. There were regular, sweet, and spicy sauce options, we didn't try the sweet, but liked the regular and the spicy. We'd definitely go back and try more things, especially the mac and piggy, and the smoked Gouda balls.“
“Not only is this the best barbecue in Kansas City by far. This is the best food in Kansas City by far. I am born and raised in Kansas City and I have never had anything like this. I had heard that this is the best in the city, but I didn't believe it. Wonderful customer service, the perfect place to eat, and the best food I have had in Kansas City. Get there early so you can get what you want, but I guarantee anything you get here is going to be astounding. Thank you Chef J, you really have a special place.“
“We shared a combo plate and a chili. Both were great the ribs and brisket were one of the best we have tried in KC this year !!We also bought a smoked turkey for thanksgiving it was great and easy to heat up.I would recommend it if your anywhere near !“
“Be prepared to spend on average around 25-35 per person. The food is excellent, consistently good , and the service is always excellent. I would recommend making reservations as this is a very popular place, especially on the weekends. Excellent as always!“
“We are on a cross-country trip and a friend suggested we try Brobeck’s. It was so good! I had short ribs with Mac-n-cheese and green beans. My husband had a sliced brisket sandwich with a salad. We also enjoy sampling their famous ham salad. Our waitress was very friendly and we had a great time! We’ll be back anytime we’re nearby.“
“Hometown heroes eat the best! Immiators eat the rest. Best Kansas City in the BBQ around town. Real people. Real food. Real good.Parking: Best parking in Kansas!Kid-friendliness: Don't let them learn anywhere else! Good manners!Wheelchair accessibility: Of course!“
“10/10 best Korean BBQ in the area. We are frequents here and leave full, happy and have so much fun doing the BBQ. You don’t have to do the BBQ, you can be sat at a normal table and order off the menu and it is also delicious! Very yummy!!“
“Pulled pork sandwich did not disappoint! The meat was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by their tangy barbecue sauce. The side of coleslaw added a refreshing crunch to the meal. The service was friendly and prompt, and the rustic atmosphere added to the charm of the experience. Must-visit!“
“The optimal choice for savoring barbeque with a side of entertainment is the BBQ establishment that features a live band performance every Friday night. During my visit, I indulged in the delectable Burnt Ends platter complemented by a refreshing glass of iced tea.“
“I'm so glad that you guys reopened. This place makes my heart happy! Sean our server was absolutely amazing! The old team is back from before! And it just makes me happy to be able to revisit one of my favorite places that I thought was lost to time, but it makes it all that much better to see the same inviting faces when you go! Congratulations on your reopening! I'll be back very soon!“
“Not sure why this place is never spoken of as one of the great KC BBQ places up with the others. The food is definitely a top 5 bbq in KC and the sauce is easily a top 3. It is a super casual place that just makes great food. I have been here several times, and the only downside is that the they are occasionally understaffed with waiters/waitresses which can make paying your bill a little slow. Other than that this place is great.“
“This BBQ restaurant offers a menu board and counter service to order. There is plenty of staff and the restaurant is clean. I ordered the burnt end combo with beans. The meal comes with fries and cole slaw. There are four different sauces on the table already. I tried all four of course. The variety is nice. The sauces are fine. The burnt ends, pork and beef, were tasty. The slaw was served cold and fresh. The slaw could have used a little more spice. The fries came unseasoned and were bland but hot and crunchy. There was no salt or pepper on the table. These items were located by the soda machine. The beans were okay. This one is a definite must try.“
“After reopening menu is different. Still have sliced bbq, more other sandwiches and more entre offerings. Still same great deserts. I had pork tenderloin sandwich was very good. All done in house. Still a great place to eat. They removed the old smoker which was the source of the fires, got a smaller modern one. Really need to get folks going back there. The inside looks really nice.“
“Discovered this place through a FB video and it was amazing!Turkey on bun was delicious and had the perfect amount of sauce! The ribs were fantastic as well! They don’t have fries unfortunately but, their baked beans definitely made up for it and man they’re the best in KC! IMO!If you’re ever in the area and have the time come by and support the Jones family! They know what they’re doing and are super friendly!“
“Definitely the top 5 BBQ in KC. You don't hear about it when people are talking about KC BBQ like Joe's, Q39 (way over rated), Jack Stack, LC's (my all time favorite), woodyard or many others. But when I have people in from out of town for business trips, I tell them to skip the other well known places and try RJs. Prices are great, the habanero BBQ sauce is best in the city. Plus it's near my house. Love to go in, sit at the bar, watch a game, have a beer and some amazing BBQ. Great neighborhood feel. Give it a shot. Best little secret in Mission.“
“The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Jamon did a great job checking in on us as did the floor manager. I liked seeing her walk around to check in on her guests from time to time. We had the best time celebrating my best friend’s birthday.“
“We arrived as a group of 9 and all left satisfied. The burgers matched what we had seen on their online menu. Our orders included the Classic Burger, Pork Brisket Sandwich, and Pulled Pork Pigwich. While they appeared small, they were packed. The beef and pork were seasoned well. The patties were not oily like most places and yet still good. The fries were addictively tasty. Despite being full, everyone was eager to help finish the fries that we overordered.“
“We visited close to closing time on Sunday and had some of the best catfish I’ve had in KC. The fried chicken and potato salad were also delicious, but what I appreciated most was how kind the owner was even as we chatted after closing time. We’re looking forward to going back on a night where we can enjoy the live music in addition to the fantastic service.“
“I stopped by on the way to Montana to grab a quick bite and they were under construction. I told them I was just passing by and they offered to fry some fish up for me. I loved the hospitality they showed, I love the batter on the fish, it's well seasoned and very crispy. I didn't get to try anything else unfortunately, but if it's fried and has the same batter it'll be delicious regardless of what it is. Next time I'm driving through, I'll have to stop by again.“
“The restaurant provides generous portions, a variety of fermented sides, and will cook any leftover raw meat for you to take home. The Korean rice wine (Makgeolli) was a highlight. It does come in a bottle (I would love to find a place where it is made in house) but it is very tasty and pairs well with the food.“
“An often overlooked place in one of the great BBQ destination cities, which has always puzzled me. They are consistently good with any dish that I order, there's always plenty of places to sit and park, and it's easy to find. If you traveled to the city to get a taste of the great barbecue joints, skip one of the ones that are always on the tourism lists and go here instead. You won't be disappointed.“
“I'm not a huge fan of sports bars but when your in Kc you gravitate toward BBQ. Glad I made it past the sports part because the food was great and service at the bar was top notch. Highly recomend the Carolina pulled pork the slaw realy set it off and be sure to try the spicey sauce.?? ps they have Dunkel on tap .“
“This is one of the best BBQ places around Kansas City. It is up there with Arthur Bryants and Gates. The food is good, although they seemed to run out of fries each time we went. Everybody has always seemed to enjoy whatever we get there, be it the ribs or some kind of sandwich. The most recent time I went, I got a ham sandwich, and I could maybe eat half of it. The portions are well sized. Since they ran out of fries a few orders ahead of us, I got the jalapeno poppers, which aren't really my thing. In my experience, the fries are just the normal kind of greasy fry you'd expect from a gem BBQ off some sketchy area in KC. The atmosphere got 4/5 because sometimes the ventilation doesn't work 100%, and the smoke from the big smoker fills up the place. Great place overall, reccomend you visit.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp on the inside if you'd like to easily get down to the floor to order food.“
“Rosedale Bar-B-Q is (in mine and my family's opinion) the ABSOLUTE BEST in everything! I recently moved back to Oklahoma, and NOTHING compares! I LOVE hot BBQ sauce. And Oklahoma just does NOT have it! I'm a "burnt end girl. I can go in ANYTIME, and they have my burnt ends!(Have tried several different places, and nope!) LOVE MY Rosedale Bar-B-Q! I really miss it!Wheelchair accessibility: Very spacious. Easily accessible for wheelchairs.“
“I was coordinating a wedding this week. We ran ahead of schedule. Zara bbq was able to be flexible and get the line going earlier than planned. The food was hot and delicious. The hot potato salad is fantastic. Shout out to caterer Lindsey who was accommodating and made sure the bride and groom had plates too.“
“We went to get their seasonal lamb chops, which are back by popular demand! They were fire-grilled to perfection on the bone with roasted tomato garlic-herb sauce, creamy mashed potatoes, and wilted spinach. These are to-die-for! Can't go wrong ??.I got the ribeye with mashed potatoes, and that didn't disappoint either so delicious ?.The wings are really good, too!My only complaint is their drinks, especially the Margaritas; they were mediocre! I still gave them 5 stars since the food was so good ??.“
“It is very beautiful. We thank you for the law and order for nutritional advice and good food. Thank you, my dear brother.Wheelchair accessibility: شكرا عزيزتي على النظام والقانون للاستشارات الادارية والمالية والاقتصاد والتسويق الطعام النظيف وتقديري واحترامي لك“
“My favorite item at Gates is the nooner sandwich... it's so satisfying. Piled high with two cuts of meats and their BBQ sauce is top notch also. I pile on the sauce after every bite.... it's tangy and tasty. On top of that you pay under 10 dollars for the nooner.. that in my book is a deal! Also they provides all customers with free coffee.. and great customer service. Being a long time kansas citian, I remember decades ago I actually ran into Mr. Gates and his wife. Coming back to Gates always brings a little nostalgia for me. I guess this is what KC BBQ is all about. This a must try place.“
“If you're coming for bar-b-que, my picky husband said it's some of the very best he's ever had and it would be hard to beat. If you don't eat meat or are a pescatarian like me, this is probably not the place for you. My salad was nothing fancy, very basic, yet was $20. Not worth it at all. But my husband loved this place so much that I had to give it a 5 star rating. The drinks from the bar were good and only $9, which I thought was great compared with so many other places.“
“This is how a BBQ place should look like. Smokey, BBQ smell permeated into everything, no frills, no fuss. The BBQ was excellent. The sauce was ok, nothing like anywhere else. Had a tomato soup taste. Not too sweet. They don't do burnt ends daily, so I had the brisket and ribs. Both were very good. Wife had turkey, good, moist, and almost perfect. Try it I'm sure you'll like it as well. I do base my BBQ on as good, better than or worse than Rosedale, and I would pick Rosedale over this, but it has been around forever, they have to be doing something right.“
“Been eating at their various Kansas City area restaurants for over 25 years (favorite one is 117th and Roe location). I'm a BBQ lovin' boy from a BBQ lovin' town and trust me, they're the REAL DEAL! If you want the best of the best, order a "Jumbo Z Man", then ask for "extra brisket" and SLATHER it with their original sweet and smoky sauce. Better yet, have them cut it half, add an order of bountiful french fries and share it with a friend or loved one. PLENTY of perfectly smoked brisket and fries to go around and you won't get a better BBQ meal from a better BBQ restaurant, at a better price (around twenty bucks for the whole thing), anywhere in Kansas City...or anywhere else AT ALL, for that matter!“
