“Found this hidden gem on Instagram one day and the birria tacos served here looked insane so of course I had to try it! The restaurant is small but the staff are super sweet. You can try and walk in; however, the place does fill up quickly so try and get a reservation if you can! Started off with an order of guacamole and chips with some salsa and upon first glance it looks pretty regular. But the first bite of the guacamole and you can feel how smooth and zesty it's been made. The salsa was also delicious with some heat! For entrees ordered the Al pastor burrito and of course the birria tacos. The burrito was massive and a very interesting take on a burrito as it was crispy and seared well unlike most burritos which are usually quick soft and floppy. But no flops here. Pair each bite with the guac or salsa and it's perfect moving on to the star of the show, why I came here! The birria looks amazing. I loved how crispy the fried cheese was. Similar to the burrito, most birria taco spots make a wet and floppy taco, but no flops here!! The meat was super tender and you can tell it's been stewed inside the consume for hours maybe even days?! Each bite was better than the last.My only warning is due be mindful of how much consume you're consuming as it's a little salty and you might not notice it until after you've left the restaurant or even the next day.“

My husband and I enjoy this as our favorite spot for a date night. This is perfect for a night out that makes you feel like you’re going into the city, but not quite in the city. The menu has SO many options. It is seasonal, fresh and absolutely delightful. We recently went for my birthday over the weekend. We enjoyed the delcious chicken wings (cooked & flavored so perfectly!), the cornbread with the Tabasco butter (a must have!), my husband got the chicken under a brick & I got their pasta special (gnocchi with a duck ragout…. AMAZING). To top it all off, they provided complimentary cannolis for each of us for my birthday!! And then we ordered the banana pudding… (also a must have!!)We left with full bellies and full hearts from such an amazing dining experience. Thank you buttonwood!!!“

“When I'm in the Newton area for work, I love to frequent this little pizza place. It's literally the tiniest restaurant I've ever eaten in but the food is excellent. They have an assortment of specialty pizza with fancy names and the staff is always so nice. If it's a busy night you may have to wait to be seated but carry out is also an option. If you get to eat in don't worry about how small the space is. Somehow they make it work and everyone feels like family.“

The meat and toasted peanut was a little over cooked. I don't mind that so much. I like my meat really done. The ginger sauce is yummy. Third- takoyaki app. Perfect bites of tempura balls filled with octopus. The top of mayo and bonito flakes made me get a real smoke gun flavor. Loved it!“

“Bistro du Midi is a great place for French traditional cuisine with a twist. The menu is well curated with a few standard dishes of seafood and French entrees, and a seasonal tasting menu you can also choose individual dishes from. We really enjoyed the Halibut, the beet gnocchi and the passion fruit soufflé (which is definitely worth the 15 minute wait). The service was a bit bizarre, waiters kept rushing us to finish our food which you wouldn’t expect paying 100+ per person and a rather late table (there was no one coming after us). Atmosphere is decent, downstairs and outside is definitely the better pick if you get to choose.Overall, would go again because ingredient quality is great and maybe we just got unlucky with the waiters.“

“While enjoyable, I came in with higher expectations. I knew going in that the menu was "weird" (maybe unusual is more appropriate?), and after the meal, I pretty much felt the same. I don't feel like the ingredient or cooking choices really came together, and I don't know if it's because farm to table in New England at the start of spring is just unfair, or if this just comes down to the chef's choices. My partner and I shared 4 dishes, and we each got our own dessert. I loved my dessert, but the other one was unbalanced, with too much bitter marmalade. The savory dishes were all fine - but we wondered if the scallops could have been better with a different protein, if the celery root would have been better as a veloute, and if the sauce for the lamb were not so sweet.Still, I think I'd like to come back when the farms in New England have better produce and try again.Kid-friendliness: Not really - this is a place for very adventurous adults“

Our meal began with the zucchini chips, which were nothing short of exquisite. They struck the perfect balance between soft and crunchy, resulting in a mouthwatering bite every time. The tzatziki dipping sauce was equally fantastic. For our main course, we ordered two servings of the lamb meatballs with a side of rice. The flavors were absolutely sensational, although I must say, the portions were a bit on the small side, particularly given the price. “The desert, campfire brownies, was merely good. That was the ONLY quibble of the evening. Ambiance? Impeccably glamorous, down to the textured walls, but still a bit cheeky and fun due to the speakeasy style entrance. Cocktails? Complex, interesting, and strong - Bijou, SVD, Espresso Martini, and Irish Coffee were all on point. Service? Attentive without being overbearing, team service at it's best. Steaks? Both the Ribeye and NY strip were perfectly cooked and meltingly delicious, enhanced by the herbed butter served on top and the house demiglace. Bone marrow? Just perfect, the onion jam is the right counterpoint to its richness. Mac and Cheese? On point. Bread and butter? The butter... how do they make something as simple as seasoned whipped butter this magical... who cares, they just do, just eat it. It's not a cheap dinner but isn't at all overpriced for what it is. This place is a gem, you should make a reservation today.“

Started with an appetizer special of corned beef poutine. We also had corned beef pizza and shepherds pie. Everything was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for great food, beer, service and a cozy Irish pub atmosphere this is the place for you. We can’t wait to come back.“

“Our new favorite joint!! The portions are generous and cocktails are on point. Max and Chelsea are amazing humans and it’s evident the love they’ve poured into this restaurant. Dining there feels like coming home… minus the family drama/judgment and with the tastiest, most nurturing home cooked meal. We are so happy to have this neighborhood gem so close to us.“

“If everyone had a local like this, there might not be any strife in the world. These $2.50 burgers and $1.50 dogs are not only cheap, they’re absolutely delicious (all the sandwiches are, the bread/buns are amazing), and are served up extremely quickly, even on busy evenings. A deal like that could well lead to world peace.Staff are extremely friendly and efficient, and the beer is cold. 10/10 needs a Michelin star.“

“I had a fantastic time here! The hospitality was great, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere delivered a very Southern feel, particularly because of the music choices which were big band and Dixieland type of tunes. I also had fantastic company, and that counts for a lot of the experience, in my view.“

“A pizza joint that checks all the boxes: food, service, price, drink variety, and atmosphere. The wings were some of the best found anywhere; petite, par boiled, tender meat, with jerk and Buffalo sauces. A good stop. Nothing fancy, just good quality bites.“

“I love this place. My friends introduced it to me when I first moved to the area and my husband, son, and I have been going ever since. They do dollar oysters every day until 5:30pm, which is hard to find these days. It's the best deal in town! We also love the poutine and there's usually a few great local/seasonal beers on draft. Great atmosphere and the guys who work here are friendly, efficient, and helpful. Highly recommend!“

“Solid, reliable neighborhood spot serving approachable classics like fried chicken, fish, & steak. I can't say I've ever been blown away by any food or drink here, but haven't had anything that I didn't care for either, and overall have found it pretty consistent and am usually satisfied with my meal. The menu doesn't change a whole lot, and I'd personally love to see more rotating specials, specifically with a description of them online (the take-out portal saying something like "salmon special" doesn't really help describe what the dish is about?).“

“We’re from out of town and were looking for queer friendly nightlife. We found this bar hosted a Queeraoke night, every Thursday. We went and had a great time. Nice patrons! Great vibe! Nice staff! Lots of joyful Queer People. There was a cover charge of 8 dollars. We’re not used to a cover charge to enter a bar for karaoke but that wasn’t a big deal. Sam Adams was a bit expensive. Cash only bar. Would return.“
