ViA VECCHiA is Portland, Maine was absolutely 10/10 on everything they did! We started with Meatballs, Whipped Ricotta & Grilled Octopus. The meatballs reminded me of my mothers, the ricotta was tremendous with truffle honey & sesame breadsticks and the octopus was grilled perfectly. One dish was better than the next. We shared ravioli with as an entree and we never felt gross like we ate too much. The portion sizes were PERFECT. Wrapped the night off with a espresso infused cheesecake over salted caramel. Wow. Staff was incredibly accommodating, professional and polite. Service was excellent! If youre ever in Portland, ME you must go get a meal here!”

However, our (and our neighboring table) were disturbed by a very loud party of 5 '(birthday group) with no consideration of fellow diners. I understand that Wayside has no control over the behavior of the rude, but it's disappointing to have an enjoyable evening spoiled by the behavior of fellow diners.”

“I can't really begin to explain how good this food was. I have been to many, many restaurants all over the country and world, and this may be the best food I have ever had. Every dish was served amazing in its own way. Each with its own unique flavor. I melted into each dish. I got the oven roasted mussels, venison steak (seasonal) and cornbread as a side. The worst part was when it was all over. Highly recommend.”

“My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at Ocotillo. We worked closely with the amazing manager, Lea, and head chef extraordinaire Al. Al and their team are incredibly talented in the kitchen. The meal was hands down the best food I have ever eaten. Everyone raved about the food, drinks and service all night. The waitstaff was kind and helpful. The drinks were stellar, the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you so much to the whole staff at Ocotillo for helping us create an amazing night we will never forget. I could not recommend Ocotillo enough.”

And listen to the story of the amazing chef and owner on what it takes to open and run the best new restaurant in New England. I said it. Sorry Boston but gonna have to step it up notch. “Last month our flight to Portland was delayed a considerable amount of time due to weather issues and it looked as though we would not be able to make our 5p.m. reservation. My daughter called from the tarmac in Boston where we were rerouted and refueled and explained the situation. The hostess, Susie, was very understanding and compassionate And said that even though our table was booked for another party a 7, we should come in and she would see what she could do. We got there late but Susie greeted us warmly and told us not to worry about being rushed that she had arranged things so no one would be inconvenienced. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; the food so very delicious and our waitperson, Anika, was the best. Atmosphere, impeccable service, food and warmth all rate 5 stars and another visit next time we are in Portland.”

“My husband and I had lunch here before an appointment nearby. This restaurant had delicious food. My husband ordered the Down east Ruben, which was made with deep fried haddock with Cole slaw piled high on the bun with melted cheese. He said it was delicious! I opted for the classic BLT. Again, the sandwich was delicious. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and ample bacon was piled on top. I watched a young man bus the tables. He was extremely thorough cleaning the tables and seating. He even washed the items on the table (salt & pepper shakers, ketchup and hot sauce bottles). This young man then set the tables for new customers. Being a bit of a clean freak, I appreciated this young man's work. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.”

“My fiancée and I were in town for the weekend. We hadn’t really planned anything so we were looking for dinner for her birthday. We called and they said they were full but bar seats should open around 6:45 which makes sense as it was a Saturday night. The wait to get a seat was quick and right at 6:45 as the host had said.
The staff were all friendly and professional. The person running the bar was fascinating to watch as they perfectly and neatly executed each drink.
We started with the focaccia bread. It was flavorful and soft. We ordered the polenta and gnocchi dishes to share. Both dishes were perfect. We both really enjoy trying new places with great food.
The food created and executed by these cooks/chefs was flawless. Presentation was amazing. Execution was very fast. Taste was beyond a 10/10.
Do not go to Portland without visiting here.”

“I am blown away by the food I ate last night at the Armory! I've come here for years for the fancy cocktails and one time I had an impressive charcuterie board but never came for dinner. I saw the Maine restaurant week menu and knew I had to visit. The bartender informed my husband and I that they have a new chef from Boston and let me tell you, he knows what he is doing! I had the seafood cakes to start and my husband had the arancini. Both were on point! For my main course I had the parsnip risotto. OMG! The risotto was cooked perfectly. It was creamy with a sweet sauce, some crunch, fresh spinach, salty Parmesan, just the right balance! My husband had the pappardelle bolognese which he loved. For dessert I had the raspberry cheesecake. It was rich and smooth with the perfect amount of sauce and fresh raspberries. My husband had the flourless chocolate torte and he devoured it. Our server recommended a bottle of Malbec which was delightful. A fantastic experience!”

“Quite possibly the best restaurant I have ever dined at. I was looking for something different to celebrate our anniversary and Regards was the place. Small plates to share is all they do. No more wishing you ordered what the other person did. They recommend 4-6 plates for 2 people and 4 was perfect for us. We started with diver caught scallop ceviche which had a nice acidic bite to it. Paired perfectly with the Motivator and LA Nights cocktails both wish are Mezcal and citrus. Our second course was grilled octopus in a spicy sauce. Never had octopus before but wanted to channel my inner Somebody Feed Phil Rosenthal and go do it. So glad we did it was very good. It's been 24 hrs and I am still thinking about that dish. Another round of cocktails. Dish three was the coffee rub fried chicken. At first feeling fancy we started with fork and knives but quickly humbled ourselves and ate with our hands. Everything was well flavored and cooked just right. Our last dish was the miso short ribs and greens. Again cooked to perfection. Sadly we were too full for desert I really wanted the tortilla blueberry ice cream. A reason to come back. Overall very impressed with Regards and we will be back. Thankfully it's only 2 miles from our house. If you are looking for something different to celebrate a special occasion or just splurge with friends this is the place to go to. 10/10 would recommend.”

“I would just like to tell a very short story about how my friend Rex who is 65 years old he is a homeless man out of the Portland area. I took him in to Denny's in Portland to get breakfast on a cold Winter's day in January 2022. We ordered our food with our server who was very rude and after eating our cold yucky breakfast my friend Rex was refused a bathroom to use and then the manager came out and told us for NO REASON, to leave and never come back! It was the worst experience because all my friend Rex needed was a hot breakfast he doesn't bother anyone and never sticks up for himself or creates a fuss! So in looking for another breakfast place to eat we found IHOP in Portland and from the start of walking into that restaurant was so nice and clean the hostess was amazing and sat us immediately with a smile our server Bethany she was amazing so nice and kind she took our order and treated us like human beings she was not judgmental and she took our order the same way she takes everyone's orders with a smile and gracious heart! My friend Rex absolutely loves his fried eggs and his bacon so we now visit the Portland IHOP twice a week. I had told the servers about what had happened to us with our experience at Denny's and the server from IHOP told Rex and myself that we were allowed at IHOP anytime and that they would love to have us!! I can't even tell you how much this warms my heart knowing that I can take my friend who has fallen on some hard times into a restaurant to eat a very nice warm meal and have the best servers in the best wait staff around us! You are amazing IHOP and we love you so much! We will be there every Tuesday and Friday for bacon and eggs comforted by the graciousness and smiles of everyone in the restaurant at IHOP! Keep on being the most amazing restaurant in the world because from my point of view you absolutely are! We love you IHOP thank you so much for your hospitality!”

“Have gotten take out here several times and this place does not miss. The fish quality is excellent and they have such an extensive menu that there is something for everyone. The prices are also reasonable which is so refreshing. The staff is always super helpful when we order and have even helped load a big order into the car. Excellent addition to the Portland food scene!”

Their pizza selection was fantastic — lots of creative options and everything we tried was delicious. The brewery also offers beer flights, which was a great way to sample several of their brews. One standout was the Sea Dog Blueberry Beer with a sugar rim — such a unique and delicious touch that really made it memorable!

What really made our visit special was the owner’s hospitality. He was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome and comfortable. You can tell he truly cares about his customers and takes pride in what he does.

“Dropped in to Miss Sweet on a rainy Sunday and it was perfect...we could tell instantly that it's one of the best boba spots in Portland!

Had two milk teas that were both delicious (pearls were so fresh). They also have hot food and snacks — we ordered an egg tart and pork bun. Both so yummy.

On top of high quality food, the owners are so kind. It's family-owned and great addition to the area. 100% going to be our staple bubble tea spot.”
