“An Excellent Turkish Restaurant in NYC !!!I was in New York City for a business trip last week and by searching for a Turkish place in Midtown I came across Akdeniz. I was met with true Turkish hospitality, everyone was very nice. I had the Iskender Kebab which tasted as if I was in Istanbul. It was very fresh and tasty. The babaghannous was nicely made you could taste the fresh roasted eggplant, as good as the best in Turkey. It was such a great experience that two days later I went back for lunch and had the Adana Kebab which was one of the best Ive had in the States. I highly recommend Akdeniz!!!“
“Leyla Restaurant takes Turkish cuisine to a whole new level with its exquisite dishes and authentic flavors. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the tantalizing aroma of traditional Turkish spices and herbs. Their lahmacun, with its thin, crispy crust and flavorful minced meat topping, is a true standout. And let's not forget about the yarma, a hearty and comforting dish that's perfect for satisfying hunger cravings. But the delights don't stop there – Leyla Restaurant offers a wide range of other mouthwatering dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving more. Whether you're a fan of classic Turkish fare or looking to explore new flavors, Leyla Restaurant is a must-visit destination for food lovers everywhere.“
“Absolutely incredible meal & service here. Everything we had was delicious. The warm bread to the wine to the hummus to the labneh to the tabouleh- we had the abdaneh chicken (per suggestion & highly recommended!) … my list goes on! Mustafa & staff were just lovely. Try it out :) homey vibe & fabulous!“
“We have had our private event at this lovely restaurant. we used the main dining room area for a party of 46 of us. The menu was excellent with a great variety of meats and chickens and seafood, along with some vegetarian items. The staff has made us very comfortable and brought each cocktail and meal on time. The space is excellent for private events and small gatherings. Entire office loved everything.“
“Julie was sweet, knowledgeable, efficient, and a great professional server. The food was so yummy! We especially loved the spinach rolls, and babaganoush! The shishkabob and dumplings and cabbage rolls were all prepared very well and delicious!“
“I just need to say. After I finished my excellent meal. I had a food high and craved a cigar and a Cognac. I got the preferred Cognac selection can't remember the exact name, but it was 225.00 for a glass. The best Cognac I ever had. I had an amazing food experience. Here are the pictures. By the way, I had the Meat Sushi for the appetizer and the Salmon for the Main. For the Table, we got the Tomahawk Steak medium rare, a dozen oysters, blooming onion, and crab legs oh I forgot I had a classic mojito in the beginning. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU GO. IT'S WORTH EVERY EXPENSIVE DOLLAR. BON APPETIT.“
“Phenomenal meal! We were lucky enough to sit in Alicia section and basically just followed her suggestions. The tzatziki, octopus, duck, and baklava were all . We were able to get in and out to catch our train without compromising on a great NYC culinary experience. Looking forward to coming back!“
“Great little place. Food is all homemade and really good. World class Baba ghanoush and their lentil soup, as the kids would say, really hits! This place only has 9 tables and 3 of them are only for 2 people so I wouldn't recommend it for large parties unless you let them know ahead of time. The Baklava is also a stand-out. You definitely have to try this place if you are in the neighborhood!Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access“
“Seasoned with herbs and aromatics. Not overly seasoned, good grade of meat, rice is bit sticky but great flavor. The bread was made in house, crispy on the outside fluffy and chewy on the inside. Overall a great place to get your dose of Turkish food. Ordered through Ubereats“
“Was passing by and went in and got a Lamb Gyro to go since I glanced at the reviews and they looked good, and I agree. Good size, filling and the bread was fresh and tasty. Will be back again with more time to try one of their plates that looked really tasty.“
“This establishment left a very positive impression on me during my initial visit. The lively atmosphere and decor create an immersive experience reminiscent of Istanbul. The service provided was exceptional. Although I did not obtain the name of our server, I believe she may have been the owner. She consistently ensured that all our needs were promptly met.We commenced our meal with the delectable spicy hummus, accompanied by their exceptional bread. I also highly recommend the red lentil soup. For my main course, I savored the flavors of the mixed grill.I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the city. You will not be disappointed.“
“The place I'd well lit, comfortable, and elegant without being ostentatious. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is fabulous! The phyllo scrolls stuffed with feta were divine and we could eat them forever. I had the lamb Adana and it was delicious! So flavorful. My friends has the falafel and the manti Turkish ravioli. Both were good but the manti was a new experience for us all. The mint flavor is strong in the yogurt sauce which we all loved. The texture and flavor of the ravioli in combination with the sauce makes you want to savor it and gobble it up all at once. Unfortunately, two of us were on medications that affect our appetites so we may have looked like we weren't enjoying ourselves as much as we actually were and this appeared to cause concern. They really want you to enjoy what you're eating and it's wonderful they take pride in what they do. What we didn't eat there, we gladly took with us! I'd you're looking for a reasonably priced delicious place to eat in that area, come here! It's wonderful!“
“Great food and experience ! Wide variety of fresh vegetables, rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, soups and more. Excellent quality. The owner was engaging and helpful in navigating the menu. Hope you stop in. Enjoy! The Reuben and corn chowder were perfect after a full day of travel.“
“Lokal was an absolute delight! We'd had a long day (with three kids) at the museum and needed to have a break with good eats. Not only did Lokal provide that but it was all better than imagined. We had the stuffed red peppers (our favorite dish) it was so refreshing with the lemon yogurt. We had hummus which paired fantastic with their house bread. The kids got chicken tenders and pizza. They loved it and we loved sneaking bites. I had the avocado tomato salad with grilled salmon: wow! A delight! So fresh and filling! My husband had the lamb burger with feta cheese. He devoured it. We all shared some baklava and the grownups a delicious cup of espresso. If we weren't leaving NYC, we'd totally return for *several* more meals. Perfect staff deserves a shout out as well.“
“this chicken donair was a late night hero.amazing taste from the freshly carved chicken off the spit, to the veggies and sauces it was paired with. the bread being sort of sandwich style made it hard to eat, but it all got in my mouth by the end ?“
“Really good food, unique from other Mediterranean spots!! The white pizza had so many kinds of cheese, it was the best I’ve had. We also got the pear and walnut pizza that was incrediblleeeee.Staff were also super nice! Great experience, would highly recommend. We’ll be back!“
“It was a really sweet time, they were a little rude to my family in the beginning so I didn't appreciate that but as the night progressed they changed their tune. Food was delicious, music was awesome. Overall nice but I wouldn't go back.“
“We had dinner here with our booking beginning at 7pm. It was quite full and there was only one server/host, I think the owner of the place, but she was able to cater to us among all other customers in a timely manner. The restaurant closed at 10pm but my friend and I lost track of time in conversation. We were not even asked to leave as there was still a party of 6 people and ourselves (party of 2). The host was so accommodating and welcomed us staying until after we were well done (sometime between 11pm -12am). Not once were we asked to leave. Also on dessert, we were able to get their almond pudding even around 11pm, and after the kitchen closed (which was something we wanted to taste while there). Overall it was a memorable experience - food, Turkish wine & the service. It's my second time being there. I would go again.“
“Food is good. Menu is mainly lamb, seafood, and chicken. Service was excellent. Restaurant was mostly empty when we went at 4pm on a Saturday. Has a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.Kid-friendliness: I would not recommend for kids. This is more of a date place.“
“I was heading to the F train, this cold day on March 22, 2024, along Houston Street, when I decided to stopped for a bite. I passed by Ankara and saw a sign that said "good deals on falafels." Hmm. I wondered why it's good deals. Just curious. I went in anyway. The place was very clean and inviting. I ordered the falafel with lettuce, tomatoes, and Bermuda onions, on a pita bread. The yogurt sauce, hot sauce and another sauce was in different containers, which I'm glad. Usually the sauces are poured over the sandwich and it's all messy. They did put a little bit of tasty sauce though. Oh wow! The falafel came hot to the touch, but when I'd opened the wrapper, the veggies inside was cool and fresh!! The 3 falafels were crispy outside and has soft and tasty flavor inside. The side sauces were great also. It was fresh and clean with no oil or grease. I'd enjoyed every bit of it. I took a picture and sent it to my sister and message her how good it was. She said to order her one and her son said "I want one too." Now I'm curious to try other dishes on their menus. It looks delicious. I will bring my friends here for a nice dinner and will write another wonderful review for them. Very good food, Ankara #3. I'm impressed.“
“Went yesterday for my sisters 30th birthday for happy hour drinks and it was amazing! The service was amazing (and they were slammed by the end of our time there) but the servers themselves were even better. We shared the mixed spread app (probably not the name) and it was delicious.“
“Mehmet, Cyrille, Deb, and Alok, are the best bartenders ever in the entire new work city. I can’t imagine how they thrive to a higher position considering their time accumulated and their consistent hospitality and immaculate communication to bar regulars. I would give them, and Tony and Primo 5 Michelin Stars if I could.Kid-friendliness: Def not kid friendly considering the crowd. The staff is amazing though. The parking is subject to NYC parking availability (call 311 at your discretion).“
“I finished a dental appointment around 4 on a cold rainy day and felt a bowl of soup would cut the chill. I walked just a few blocks before Turkish Kitchen caught my eye and found lentil soup on the menu. Inside, the walls are a warm red with tables covered with crisp white tablecloths. I don't remember the last time that happened. I ordered the lentil soup and phyllo rolls. Soup arrived first with a cone of fresh baked bread perfect for dipping and a wedge of lemon for optional seasoning. It was delicious. The phyllo rolls came midway and had a delicate crisp shell with a soft center. Maybe halumi cheese? Service was attentive and gracious. And not only did I get a complimentary bite of baklava to end my snack, but also an unexpected 20% off the bill for their 4-6 early bird discount. I'll be back.“
“I first time went to this restaurant, and it was awesome! The place had a great vibe, the service was top-notch, and the food was seriously delicious. Every dish had this perfect mix of flavors that just blew my mind. The staff was super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience, definitely check out this spot.“
“The food here is so delicious and has a home cooking feel to it. The prices are pretty decent. I had a branzino filet and salad with rice. We also ordered the fried zucchini with a white yogurt sauce which was also delicious. You can reserve on their website or open table. It's always pretty busy but you can probably walk in and not too long.“
“Reyna is a great place for vibes and small shareable bites. The chef seems to have fun coming up with interesting flavors combos, definitely worth trying. And if you decide you like it return. I'll likely go back. Loved the service, everyone seemed so attentive.“
“Every dish was incredible! I took a friend there for his birthday and we started with the dolma appetizer, complete with lemon wedges and yogurt-mint dip. It was so good! My friend had the lamb kebab and red lentil soup, and I and another friend had the specialty eggplant with sun-dried tomatoes, salad, and bulgar. We ended with the homemade almond pudding (made by our waitress) and Turkish tea. Every bite of each dish was mouth-wateringly flavorful. We could taste each ingredient and spice in each dish from the appetizer to the dessert. The staff was amazing. They were friendly, efficient, and welcoming, and they seemed to love working there and talking to customers. They even gave us a delicious eggplant dip appetizer on the house--spicy and yummy! I've been to Turkish Cuisine at least 10 times and I've never been disappointed.“
“Fantastic location in Midtown. Brian was our server and he was spot on. The food was good, but the service was better. Not only did he give fantastic service, he went out of his way to ask us questions and then he gave us a list of "don't miss" things to do!“
“Chill but vibey cocktail bar. Not going for chill and vibey but just already there. The bartender, Sebastian, was very funny and engaging, and a manager was both very attentive to guests and (I happened to see when one of his back of house employees was leaving) very thankful for his staff. This place is cool!“
“I went here around when they opened, probably 9 or 10 years ago now. It was very cute. Perfect cozy date, or post-dinner spot. I felt the need to review today in order to offset the non-drinker who thought that 2 apps should rent them a romantic table in the west village for the evening.“
“Our recent visit to Istanbul Kebab House left us craving more of their mouthwatering chicken doner-gyro! The aroma of grilled chicken, mixed with savory spices, instantly whetted our appetites. Wrapped in warm, fluffy pita bread and accompanied by crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and tangy tzatziki sauce, each bite was a burst of flavor and texture. The tender, flavorful chicken combined with the freshness of the vegetables and creaminess of the sauce created a perfect harmony of taste. It's safe to say that Istanbul's chicken doner-gyro has earned a top spot on our list of favorite comfort foods!“
“Good honest food at an honest price. A little gem if you want good food for a reasonable price. We just wanted kebabs, pita or wraps, and had check out a few places near by. Their prices were ridiculous, charging twice as much as Istanbul Bay. We had just about given up when we saw this place. So glad we found it. Are there two nights in a row. It’s a busy little place but they make it all fresh for you, the service is good, the food is great, and you don’t need to re-mortgage to eat here, unlike a lot of Manhattan eateries.“

“Very Very Flavorful!! We loved everything we got! The only thing is it wasn't warm. Everything was room temperature! We wanted hot food so that wasn't the best! If they get the food hot, it will be a game changer. Flavors melded perfect together.“
“Memo Shish Kebab in Manhattan is a haven for meat lovers. With a wide variety of options, especially in preparing doner, this place is sure to satisfy your cravings. Whether you're in the mood for a classic kebab or something more adventurous, Memo Shish Kebab has something for everyone.“
“We shared a Greek salad with the best feta cheese ever!! Also shared the lamb plate, definitely enough for two. For dessert we shared the olive oil lemon cake. A must for a perfect ending to a lovely evening!! Will now try their Madison Ave location in the near future. Tom G“
“Great addition to "nicer" Turkish restaurants around NYC --for date nights. The atmosphere, food, and staff were all wonderful. Even though we had reservations, the place was not overly packed on a Friday night, which I appreciate. There is also seating available at the bar. We got two delicious cocktails and manti (delicious), stuffed wine leaves with cherry sauce (delicious), icli kofte (delicious), and lokum kebab (which were good too, but nothing crazy). I would definitely go back and recommend this place to friends.“
