“Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. I am a skeptic when it comes to famous barbecue joints. I must say that Franklin's BBQ was far superior to all of the restaurants I visited with no one even a close second. Aaron's attention to detail from the service, choice of briskets, the cook, the wrap, the holding and even the slicing of the final product is evident in every aspect of his trade. I was lucky enough to run into him at the restaurant and he happily talked BBQ with me. Franklin's may not have the long history of muti-generational BBQ in Central Texas, but he has figured it all out at a level that I have yet to see equaled by the best venues in the country. This is a bucket list restaurant for those who really enjoy BBQ. It is well worth the wait in line”
“I had been years ago before the pandemic and I did not remember it being this good. They have increased their quality. Between the salad bar (which has beyond improved), the meat (get the ribeye and tenderloin, amazing) and the service, we had a fantastic experience. Robert took care to make sure our glass was filled and our meat requests were filled. The price seems high, but very worth it.”

“Had the Waygu steak special 16 ounce it was off menu item it was really good and had the beef tallow fries so good and the dessert no pics it’s just something to see for yourself! Really good but also really pricey!”
“I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place. Everything was so good.
First off, there’s plenty of parking in front and to the side of the restaurant (although the side parking may be for the liquor store next door). The spots are wide and could accommodate the huge SUV we rented.
Our waitress, Selin, was superb. She was attentive and remembered our entire order, without needing to write anything down!
We were a party of 4 with 3 dogs. We made a reservation for the patio because we had our dogs with us. We were seated at a corner table on the patio, which gave our dogs more space to roam while leashed and tethered to us.
It was pretty hot and humid outside (we came here on November 7, 2024 at 1PM). There were lots of flies and mosquitos around. Thankfully, halfway through the meal, the waitress put out a mini fan on our table to keep the insects away from our food.
For appetizers, we got:
Striped Bass Crudo - the fish was fresh and flavor was great. A bit too tart for my liking, but still very good. My partner said this was the best, but he usually really likes very sour and tart foods.
Burrata - very delicious. Had the right amount of sweetness from the glaze and great textural contrast with the nuts.
Deviled Eggs - my favorite appetizer! The truffles really put this dish up there. Usually I find truffles gimmicky, but they worked really well here.
Potato Chips (with cheese) - my least favorite appetizer. The chips were good but the dip tasted too much like cottage cheese for my liking.
Fried Shrimp - this was SO GOOD! The shrimp were huge and cooked well. Not too much breading either. The accompanying sauce was good too.
For our mains, we got:
Fried Chicken Sammie - this was really good. The chicken was very crispy and moist and tender on the inside. The slaw on it wasn’t overpowering. And the accompanying sauce was good.
Steak Sammie - I did not get to try this, but my friend said it was ok.
Farro Bowl - This was the best dish we got. The salmon was perfectly cooked: flaky with a crispy skin. The faro was also a good textural and flavor contrast.
Plancha Burger (protein style, buns on side) - At first, this looked mid (you can see in my photos). But, when I dug into the patty, the meat had such a good texture to it. And the flavor was amazing! I could tell that it wasn’t just a regular old frozen patty from the grocery store. The pickles and onions were also subtly tart and sweet, which I really liked.
Our friend originally booked a brunch reservation here so she could try the birthday cake dessert, but the waitress said that’s only served during dinner. We didn’t blame her because they close up at 2PM for brunch, and it was already 2:15PM by the time we finished our entrees and asked about dessert. However, our waitress was so amazing!! She asked the chef and they said they could prepare the dessert for us because it was my partner’s birthday. So, she brought it out with lit candles and added it to our bill (she gave us a new one because she already printed out our bill).
The price was fair for what you’re getting. Things ranged from $12-$22.
Overall, the food was phenomenal and the service was amazing. I highly recommend coming here when you’re in Austin!
Parking: There are 10 or so spots in front and maybe 8 spots on the side (though the ones on the side may be for the liquor store next door).”

“Great place, Great people, Drink and food spot on. Would highly recommend a visit, as I’ll certainly be returning.”
“We did the prix-fixe tasting menu. Great way to try so many different dishes! The ambiance is perfect for date night. They had a piano player that really set the mood. We will be back for more of that lobster ravioli. Thank you!”
“The tacos are some of the best I've had, and the lady who runs the place is very sweet. I had the birria, poblano chicken, and chicken tinga quesotacos, and they were all great. I also tried the carnitas and liked them a lot.”
“Recomiendo todo! siempre que tengo antojo de chilaquiles vamos! En ningun lugar encontraras el mismo sabor y atencion. Gracias 100% recomendado”
“Blue Owl Brewing is a shining example of what it means to represent and care for your community. They make fantastic beer with a passion to share their knowledge and craft. And they are receptive to feedback and supportive in helping navigate requests for localization of their products especially in the Greater Austin area. Shop local!”
“We've been to Freddo ATX a few times now, and it has been consistently delicious each time. The staff has been very helpful. Everyone has good energy, especially Jamal! They play great tunes, too :) It is definitely becoming our go to place before attending a show at the Paramount Theatre.”
“This is hands-down, my favorite restaurant in Austin, if not honestly, the world. We come at least once if not twice a week the menu is extremely diverse in the staff are just absolutely delightful. We love Carmen, jasmine, Enrique, anola, Luis, BZ, Jacobi, and Adam. 10/10 reccommend”
“In the land of bbq KG stands out like a shining star! We watched Kareem on Bbq showdown and knew we had to go when we realized he was in Austin. We thought it’d be good but it was truly outstanding! We ordered all but 2 meats (my husband forgot the sausage, I was not happy!) everything was amazing, but the standouts were the chicken kabobs, the pomegranate pork ribs and the lamb chop (not usually a lamb fan). The chicken thighs were so moist and flavorful! The flavors of the pom pork rib were so rich and complex and truly unique. The true surprise for both of us was the lamb chop; tender, juicy and full of savory flavor. Rounding out our meal was the Egyptian Mac and cheese which had there not been so much delicious meat would have been a top fave, creamy shells with a garlic tomato béchamel with just the right amount of nutmeg. For dessert we tried the rice pudding with crumbles pistachios and hulava on top, something I hated in childhood. The cool, creamy rice pudding had a subtle cardamom flavor and cooled off the mouth after so much Egyptian flavor! Outstanding!!!”

“My wife and I had the best experience here for my birthday lunch, I'm so glad we chose this restaurant to eat at while in town for the Austin FC match! I can't say enough about the staff and the owner Joel who went out of his way to be extremely kind to us. Not to mention the food and drinks were so good. We'll definitely be back!”

“How did I not know this existed until now? What a unique experience—literally dining in the prep kitchen that supplies all the Ling restaurants in Austin. Not only was the chef there along with her husband, but we also got to hear directly from her about how the menu is inspired by her grandmother’s recipes and the food the owner grew up eating. The presentation of each dish was incredibly thoughtful, and the flavors were just as impressive.
The Wagyu was outstanding, and how often do you get to try jellyfish, duck tongue, and sea cucumber all in one evening? The service was exceptional, making the entire night feel even more special. An unforgettable dining experience!
Parking: Parking is located to the right, behind the building.”

“grace took my order, and introduced me to everyone who was on staff at the time alex and raquel.
grace allowed me a sample of the cold brew. to me, had a little bit of a funky tang but once a little half & half was added it mellowed out into a rich enjoyable robust fruity flavor.
i’ve read a lot about their story and origin of beans and have always been intrigued and the flavors are complex. the coffee itself holds a story, something greater than what was in my cup welcomed me.
i had a brown sugar miso oat milk latte which was recommended by grace ? when i got it, raquel made me aware that the top was like a marshmallow foam and yes, it was! slightly powdery sweet and creamy topped the latte very well. the overall flavor was so mild, just enough brown sugar and a buttery slightly shy of salty — umami lite.
their loving signature was left in my coffee, so i’ll be back ?”
“I tried el loco frito that was really food with right amount of spice with thinly sliced jalapeno. The brisket was good n tender. The mac n cheese was super cheesy. My husband loves the pickled cucumbers and onions. We were not a fan of the potato salad. The taste was horrible. We were able to get a refund. Ribs were okay per my teenage son.”
“We had brunch here. The selection of food was simply amazing. And it tastes even better. Service was impeccable. If you are there on a nice day ask to be outside. You will not be disappointed.”
“Wow! This place is incredible. Charlie, Nguyen, and the rest of the team are amazing hosts and incredible at their craft, no pun intended. Such a special meal! Highly recommend for anyone who loves food.”

“excellent dining in a great atmosphere an awesome service sampled a bunch of tasting plates from the fish tacos to the bone marrow and the oysters even had a wonderful dessert with their homemade ice cream and bananas did I say that the service was awesome top notch five stars all day definitely a place to visit in Austin”
“A true Austin experience and the best staff, in total, that I have encountered in a long time. The staff and the retro setting set a really unique vibe in the restaurant. Food was very good with the spanish octopus and the rib eye being the highlights. Good, well selected wine list (even if markup is a little high) and a great bar program (Secret Beach on tap at a restaurant....thought I was dreaming).
Chelsea (Manager) was patient with my indoor / outdoor table change requests, despite being a very busy night. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive but not disruptive, and just plain cool....in fact I would say that about all of the serving staff.
Overall one of my best fine dining experiences in Austin. BTW, the outside patio is perfect.”

“Eberley made the absolute best Iced Bennu with pecan flavor. I asked her what the most popular iced coffee is and voila. WOW. I am making this my new meeting spot with friends - your 2001 East MLK location. Stay great and see you all soon! PS: I am a coffee snob and when I tell you this iced coffee was amazing, well, it was (smile). Great way to kickstart the day.”
“This was my first time ordering. The coffee machine was fast and accurate. You can order Hot or Cold, choose any kind of milk, add shots, add 2 types of Sugar and other flavors. Tip: After you complete your order you get a number, if you forget it swipe your card it will remember who you are. One of the other good features is, it will hold your coffee until you claim it. So if you have to step away, come back type in your number and Waalaa!! Your coffees waiting. I ordered a Carmel Macchiato Latte and boy😳 they did not on the EXPRESSO😣...Very 💪 Strong. But the experience was fun so..ENJOY😊”

“If looking for a date night steak house downtown Dean’s Steakhouse Austin is a fantastic option. Amazing dinner last night. My personal favorite was the “Dean’s Style” entree; 8 oz. filet, lobster claw, truffle béarnaise, bordelaise. The steak was cooked to perfection. They also offer A-5 Japanese wagyu if looking for that.”
“Thanks!! We’ll miss your delicious food and presence in the neighborhood”
“Only next level Japanese dining enthusiasts would be able to immediately recognize that they have chosen well. If you are lucky enough to discover the Happy Hour menu then you’ve hit the jackpot. Do yourself a favor and go because ain’t nobody have dry aged fish! What?!? Yes this separates Lucky Robot from the rest of the Japanese places in Austin. Put it on the bucket list folks!”

“The people at this place are so friendly. The first thing they do when you walk in and go up to the counter is hand you a free sample, which is amazing and it’s a full-size piece free sample. It’s not a little tiny bite. They have the famous Dubai chocolate and so many more sweets! I’ll come back! They do have one or two gluten free options.”

“So a few years ago my all time favorite bbq place in San Antonio, Snoga's BBQ closed they had the best sausage around... in my life I have always been trying to find someone even close to having sausage that was even close to theirs...Yesterday my best friend was taking a day trip to Austin for work and said she was going to stop at Leroy and Lewis Barbecue place that she came across on the internet...I thought why not...I haven't had bbq in a while... so i sent her some money and told her that i wanted some sliced beef and sausage... so while she was there she raved about the food and how good it is... now she is Kansas City bbq girl...I am Texas bbq guy... so this has always been one of the arguments we have... LOL...well i think she has finally found her texas bbq place... so she brings back my food and i picked it up today... and honestly I think I have found my replacement for sausage it will never top Snoga's but since they are not open anymore they have become my #1 of places that are open for sausage...it was that good... not sure if they make their own or who makes it for them and they smoke it or what but it is amazing!!! Such great flavor to it. The sliced beef was also on point great bark and smoke and just melted in my mouth... now I am not a big sauce guy... but the red sauce had a nice peppery kick... they also have a mustard sauce...I don't typically care for mustard anything... but this one was actually really good... but the star is the pork hop sausage...I am having to stop myself from driving up to Austin again for more of it...LOL!!! So if you live in Austin or want to take a day trip go here is worth the trip...5 stars all the way!!”
“Didn’t get a chance to enjoy their brick and mortar location but did get a chance to dine at the ACL stall. Brisket sandwich was exceptional. Dude hooked up a vegi frito pie on the house as they were shutting down for the night. . Kind gesture and tasty. Perfect laying for a booze filled belly. Great food, great people.”
“For our 101st 'cue stop in Texas, we stopped by this food truck on a Saturday morning. It was not at all busy, in sharp contrast to several of the other outlets in the court. We laid out $43.40 to purchase 2 biscuits with brisket and smoked strawberry jam. We added hash browns to each order ( 2 wedges per order). Although the biscuit was quite dry, the brisket was well prepared, and the smoked strawberry jam a real treat. But no plastic utensils were supplied, so we ended up scooping the jam up with our fingers. Bring your own utensils with you if you choose to visit! We're glad we came, but the price point struck us as very, very high for what we received-- too high for our wallets to absorb a second time.”
“Another amazing time at Interstellar! The staff was absolutely stellar from knowledge about their products to service. The line was ridiculously long but they had free water available and they sent someone out to explain the menu and specials to everyone waiting! When we got in the door still waiting in line some cut brisket was put into a little bowl and it was passed down to all of us which was above and beyond! Their food is inventive, full of flavor, and so juicy! You can feed a full 4person family on their half platter which is what we got! While we were sitting down we were checked on and chatted with by the employees… we never felt like we weren’t cared about! This was my 2nd time eating at Interstellar and I’m a very picky eater when it comes to Texas BBQ as I had a favorite until it closed but Interstellar has become my new favorite and I tell everyone that questions where to eat or Texas BBQ about Interstellar!! This thing won’t let me post the picture so I’ll try to find a different way to do it!”
“How can I even describe this meal and experience?!! From start to finish, it was amazing! The service is attentive, friendly and welcoming. We had the pleasure of meeting Iken, Jordan, Michael and Fasa. These guys took amazing care of us! The drinks were so good. Now, the food… OMG! Every single thing we ate was delicious. The shrimp appetizer stole the show. Highly recommend this dining experience!”
“Amazing food! Every dish we tried was DE-LICIUOS! Wait staff and hosts are lovely people. Atmosphere and vibe is warm and inviting here. My only suggestion for this restaurant is that they turn the volume down on the music. It really is WAY TOO loud. Other than that, visit often so that you can try the entire menu!”

“We both loved our food. The person at the counter was very helpful in selecting the right dish and the food came quickly. It's authentic Mumbai food. So of you like that, you'll love the food here. We also ordered rasmalai, and you'll probably not find better rasmalai in this area. Oh and dis I mention how affordable everything is!”

“We had party order from Sangam for our event during May 14th weekend for 3 courses (1 Lunch and 2 dinner) for about 100 people. Shiva was working with me and helped with the menu making sure none of the courses repeat any items including papad. He made suggestions based on our preferences and also guided us with the count and other details. Each of the delivery was made promptly at the requested time. The food provided was scrumptious and quantity was more than sufficient. Each of our friends were pleased with the food. Shiva - you are the best to work with and Sangam team , keep up with the amazing food and quality service you all provide. #indianfood #yummytummy #sangamchettinad”
“Amazing place. Interior is 10/10. Beautiful crystal chandeliers, a lot of small lamps on each table - very chic vibes! I tried scallops - expensive but worth it. The bread is a piece of art. The most tasty from what I ever tried in ”
“Amazing food in an incredible spot with a beautiful view! The waitress was fantastic, and while the food runners were trying, their communication skills could use improvement. On the other hand, hats off to the chef—the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!”

“I’ve been wanting to come to uchi for years, I finally made it in last night with some girlfriends. The food was phenomenal but what really made the night/ meal was our waitress Meg. She picked our menu for us and everything was 10/10. She made the experience at uchi so much better with how attentive and wonderful she is! Will Definintly only dine at uchi in the future if megs waiting on me again.”
“By far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! The food is magnificent, atmosphere is perfect for fine dining and intimate dinner! My husband brought me here for my birthday Jan 6th and I’m still thanking him. Chef Erik Trotman took care of us and the servers were on point and very attentive. Go check them out for yourself, you definitely will love it!! I”
“An unforgettable dining experience. Chef Endo and his team provided the greatest omakase journey in Austin. Each new course complimented the previous and built a wonderful foundation of tastes from the Edo period coupled with flavorful cocktails using Japanese liquors. The chef and staff were great company, telling fun stories and laughing with all of us. I was beyond elated when he played guitar after the last course, even tremolo-picking the Happy Birthday song to my girlfriend and two others celebrating. If you love incredible gastronomic adventures and great company, you have to experience Endo.”
“Run don’t walk to this place that boasts chic cool - great staff - and ambience w the best food you’re going to eat in awhile. The Chef is a genius. I wanted to lick my plate! Also the amazing host set a warm tone suggesting seating at the bar to watch the action - brilliant and Haley was a divine server making sublime recommendations! ❤️”
“I've had Olamaie on my list for awhile and finally had the opportunity to dine there. It was outstanding. Everything we ordered was delicious. I've been dreaming about the catfish, Red Rice Calas and my birthday dessert all week! Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. It is a small restaurant in a cute little house. They do have some parking in the back. The decor and ambience were calming but once the restaurant filled up, it was very loud. That's the only reason I took off a star. The staff were great and explained and made suggestions from the menu. I felt catered to and it was great. I can't wait to go back.”
“A very special dinner!!! Service was top notch! Food was excellent. My absolute favorites were the III Forks salad, the Filet Mignon "Baseball Cut” 10oz, the creamed corn, and the Six Cheese Potatoes. Strongly recommend those!!! My least favorite Chicken Fried Lobster, but I’m a purist on lobster, just liking it hot with butter. The waiter raved about this dish, so we did try it, but honestly for me, it lost the lobster flavor with all the breading on the small pieces of lobster. I wouldn’t order it again, but everyone has a different taste, the waiter thought it was the best! So thank you for a great meal! Look forward to trying your restaurant in Jacksonville when we travel that way! Hope it has the same great food and service!
Parking: wonderful valet parking right beside restaurant. opened until 11pm that night which allowed us to wander around the city… try to see the bats fly from under the bridge, etc.”
“They went over and above for our anniversary. There was a card on our table which everyone signed along with some beautiful rose petals.
Omg the food. Is absolutely amazing. We had a crab cake for appetizer which was the BEST I ever had. I had the king crab leg as an add on to a filet can’t say enough about that. The crab was so delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. My husband had the sea bass which was also fantastic.
For dessert they brought out a baked Alaska! We didn’t order it - it was just the generosity of the establishment. The service was the absolute best our waiter was there exactly when we needed him.
They made us feel seen and appreciated but also let us have an awesome romantic dinner. Was pricey but omg. So worth it. It’s the food AND an experience.”
“Amazing dinner to celebrate my love's birthday!!
Ron, our waiter, was very pleasant, patient, attentive, and funny.. it was our first time, and he answered all of our questions, never making us feel rushed at all..
One thing I did notice while we were waiting upfront for our table was: there were 3 gentlemen wanting to dine in and one was wearing a basketball jersey.. instead of turning them away.. the nice lady upfront told them to hang on, she'll be right back.. she came back with a jacket to give the young man, so they all can come in to dine.. that is going above and beyond!!
Thank you The Capital Grille for giving us a wonderful experience!!”
“The pasta here was SO yummy! Our group couldn’t agree on which dish was our favorite - mine were the Gnochetti, Johnny Cakes and PB&J dessert! The Wagyu dish was ok. Service was friendly but not super attentive to our group, which was disappointing based on the caliber of restaurant.”
“Beautiful restaurant, great classy vibe. Most of our food was delicious, the calamari stood-out as one of the best things we ate. My jumbo shrimp was cooked and seasoned well, but the crab it was stuffed with was sour and bitter, inedible for me even though I normally LOVE crab. The scallops, bread, and brussel sprouts were great, but the lobster mashed potatoes were very dry even with the sauce. Overall we had a lovely anniversary here.”

“Every time Im in the area I have to go swing by. It's a great place to get some work done while you sit next to a water feature or catch up with friends. I really like when a place has something for everyone you are with. You can grab a bloody mary, coffee or a taco plate. Good times.
Kid-friendliness: I had a great time bringing my kids here. There's a lot of room for them to explore on the patio and it's big enough that they won't be bothering anyone.”
“Went for a lil bday celebration, loved the samples and gelato. And parking was easy. Only grievance was the restroom/toilet not having seat liners, everything else was super sweet!!! Would visit again 100%
Parking: Parking is behind the store, went in the evening on a week day and my friends and I were all able to park with no issues!”
“As soon as we walked into Dearest, I knew this was going to be one of my favorite bars in Austin. We’ve been frequenting similar spots throughout our decade of drinking in the city, but this place immediately felt like home. The drinks are a lot of fun, and the staff is incredibly welcoming. Zack, the manager, is the man! The ambiance is fantastic—super Texas, super Austin—with wild, eclectic decor that has its own unique vibe. There’s a hint of something a little edgy, maybe even a touch of dark humor in the design, but it all adds to the charm. The outdoor trailers with misters are a great touch, and the crowd always seems to be having a blast. It’s like hanging out in your backyard with your buddies, but with a cool, late-night twist. And let’s not forget the Mountain Dew—definitely a plus to an already super dope experience!”
“My favorite east side coffee shop/ breakfast stop. Love the breakfast burrito with tri tip and the breakfast sandwich is awesome! Also have great coffee and burgers! Save this place from closing down! The property got bought out and they need a new location! Best memories I have of Austin started at Cenote for our company meetings.”
“Delicious food, friendly, knowledgeable staff in a comfy environment. What’s not to love? There’s no way I could choose a favorite item as we loved everything we had. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner!”
“The red lights dimmed out one of my senses. The visual sense. With that said i wasn’t influenced by the way our food looked but by the taste alone and it was the best pizza I’ve ever had. I find myself being a bit of a food snob and this was unbelievable. Well played La Volta Pizza Club.”
“This restaurant in the South Congressional District specialises in Mediterranean flavours and serves classic dishes from Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece. The restaurant's stylish setting is ideal for fine dining and high-end drinks (The Texas Tasty).”
“Great place. Greeted, door opened. Sat at the bar service impeccable, a Manhattan made the proper way presentation of food perfect. Bartender Eric top notch. 100% recommend”
“Exceptional gastronomic experience at the steakhouse! The atmosphere is inviting, the service is impeccable (the entire team but especially Irno and Leandro, you make us feel so appreciated and welcomed) and the variety of perfectly grilled meats, salad bar left my taste buds enchanted. I recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch Brazilian barbecue!"”
“Sunny and his team at QI, are the best in the business. The Dim Sum is some of the best anywhere!!”
“My family and I drove to Austin for my birthday weekend and we decided to eat here for brunch. Let’s talk ambiance. It was absolutely beautiful. If you are an herbalist or lover of nature, the aesthetic is right up your alley. I had the chicken and beignets and it was 100/1”. The portions were spot on and everything was perfect. The chicken wasn’t dry either. This was sooo good. Although my food was absolutely amazing, the hospitality shown to us was truly exceptional. Not only did I get a free drink, but I received a mini tour of the ingredients and how them are implemented in certain drinks and meals. Everyone enjoyed their food and time. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone headed to Austin.”
“Great place to eat. Prime rib was great and the whipped potatoes were to die for. Mocktail was good, too! Jamie was very attentive and maintained a professional presence while being personable and assured I was comfortable and taken care of throughout the meal.”
“Excellent food and excellent service in a pretty cool building! Definitely would recommend!”
“Totally new world of tacos! Amazing flavors, unusual combinations, super fresh ingredients and perfectly prepare. Well deserved James Beard award!”
“Great food and wonderful customer service. I will definitely come back in the future. Gabriel Culiat. Great pizza”
“Absolutely an amazing place! Food and drink are incredible. Duck Fat Fries and Bone Marrow are my favorites for starters. We have been coming here for years. Please support this business during the COVID pandemic. It would be terrible to see this place not make it.
Updating this review in November 2024. The place is still amazing! But had to remove a star for the parking situation. They use a service that requires you to scan a QR code and either pay for parking or get 3 hours free. It is NOT evident that you need to do this and none of the staff mentioned it. A couple weeks later, I got a fine letter. I ended up having to pay "Parking Revenue Recovery Services" a total of a $99 fine. I wish someone at the Salty Sow informed me of this. I would have rather spent that money at the restaurant the next time I visited. Y'all should change this process with your parking vendor.”
“In order to get in, you need to download the app and make a reservation. You then will get a gate code. You have to search for the entrance although not too hard to find. Hand crafted drinks with a solid app menu. Atmosphere is a real speakeasy vibe and dark. Good date place. Would definitely go again.”
“This place is great. Service is top notch. Get the prosciutto sandwich. You won’t regret it. My only complaint is that it’s hard to find so call the restaurant for directions. Also there’s free valet across the street!”
“We visited "STELLA SAN JAC" during our Austin trip... and we had a great time. We tried several of the best and most inspiring cocktails we've ever tasted. Manager Edwin put us at ease with the best comfortable service, and every cocktail he recommended we were very impressed with. I will definitely recommend my friends to visit this place, I want to go back and try the cocktail again on my next business trip.”
“Alayna was a great waitress super fast and the best service I’ve had!”
“Got the opportunity to experience the new menu, and it was truly incredible. The price point was right on the mark for all the amazing food we received. The flavors for everything we tried was truly unique and just utterly delicious!”
“Amazing. Must-go location in Austin! They serve up wonderful array of drinks, especially their icy coffee - Irish and otherwise. The Dead Rabbit also does coffee in the morning starting at 7am - their tiramisu coffee is a must have. Great food- their sliders are delicious. Wonderful service in a restaurant and bar with great ambiance. The team at the Dead Rabbit is so kind, considerate and friendly. Reasonable prices for an exceptional experience.”
“Woooooww!! When I moved to Texas I thought I would be doomed in a sushi-less pit of despair where everything was tasteless. This place offers extremely fresh quality sushi that I am surprised to find this far inland. As someone who has lived on multiple coasts, of course this doesn't live up to the oceanside just-caught magnificence. However, they do the best they possibly can here! Thank you for being here”
“I've been to hotpots with this price point in Vegas and Chicago and Dallas and I was blown away with the quality of the buffet offerings at Soup Leaf. This is premium AYCE hot pot at non-premium prices. The dinner meat menu was pretty standard, but the Buffet was extraordinary as it has so many premium seafood and vegetarian item. My new favorite restaurant in Austin.”
“Came here to especially try the Rachel. We added the cucumber salad, collards greens and cheesecake. A throw away piece of chess pie was given to us to try…. EVERTHING was mouthwatering delish. Highly recommend the drive to try this establishment. Well done! Will come again when I visit from Minnesota.”
“I was impressed. Every dish we ordered was unique and bursting with flavor. The wait staff was amazing and service was fantastic. The details of each dish made this restaurant stand out. I have not been to a restaurant in a long time where I truly felt it was a unique culinary experience and you can really feel how much love the chef is pouring into each entree. Worth every penny.
Be aware that this is modern Asian food integrated with Austin flavors. If you want something traditional, this might not be for you. But, take it from me, you should give it a try with an open mind. Best food in Austin. I never leave reviews, but felt compelled to write this since it was so so so good.”
“This place is not your typical "Italian" restaurant. It is more of a steakhouse. Which is pretty cool. The wait time was short, maybe like 10 minutes to be seated. The menu was robust. The wine and liquor menus were also extensive. I was there with my parents and shared a birthday dinner with my younger brother. The waiter was on point! He made excellent recommendations and was knowledgeable about the food, wine, and liquor at the restaurant. He was fast, very friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. We got to sit in the upstairs area, which gave us a bird's eye view of the kitchen doing its thing. Now, the food... Woo! The food. We had a Caesar salad to start, and it was very fresh. Next, we had bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegarette (I think), with cheese, and fire roasted tomatoes (I'm not a big fan of roasted tomatoes) which were done perfectly and changed my mind about roasted tomatoes. We then had a 40 oz 50 day aged Fiorentina steak. The sear and crust on the steak was executed perfectly. It wasn't crunchy, burnt, or tough to chew through. Once through the perfect sear, it was a buttery smooth texture on the inside and was cooked perfectly. Medium rare. My mother, who usually prefers to eat chicken, was very impressed by the steak as well. We then had some potatoes. They were golden, crusted, and flavored just right to compliment the steak, not overpower it. My younger brother quipped that they were really fancy French fries. I told him to shut his filthy mouth. But he did like them. Overall, it was an extremely pleasant experience with a downtown Italian Texas steakhouse vibe. Oh, my old fashion on the rocks was indulgent.
Parking: Park in the parking garage attached to the restaurant. It makes things easier. Also, the upscale apartments that the restaurant is under closes the parking garage at 8pm. So you'll have to go through the apartment's lobby to get back to the parking garage.”
“I ate here while in town for Afrotech! I started with the Sunomono Salad (Cucumber, green onion, crab stick, octopus, radish sprouts, sesame seeds with ponzu sauce). I then had two rolls: 1. Who’s Your Daddy? (no rice) (Deep fried crab, cooked shrimp, cream cheese with special sauce); 2. I Love Tuna (in: spicy Tuna, cucumber out: Blue fin Tuna, green onion sauce: Garlic ponzu, green onion, masago) EVERYTHING was amazingly good, the staff was very friendly, efficient, and ensured you had a great dining experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”
“Great mix of cocktails. I tried a variety of their cocktails and each was perfectly balanced.”
“Food was good but not amazing. Staff were nice. Atmosphere on patio was cozy with the fireplace and very nice. Main complaint is the parking situation. They have free valet and small parking lot. Waiting for valet was a hassle and caused us to be 20mins late for reservation. We could have parked ourselves and got inside quicker. Wish that most of the parking spots weren’t reserved for valet.”
“The Butternut Squash was very delicious and Jaycee? Jacie? Was amazing.”
“We loved the quaint atmosphere and the specialty cocktails. The bar crafters were amazing!!! Check it out!”
“Visited Austin over the holiday, with furbaby in tow. Great relaxing place to have a cocktail where we could bring along the pup. The cocktails were incredible. Went home with a bottle of Fierce Whiskers Distillery bourbon. learned later the served the holiday old fashioned with craft ice from FAT ICE.”
“Yesterday, Veteran’s Day, my son, also a Veteran, and my daughter along with some other wonderful friends enjoyed the generosity of Jack Allen’s Kitchen for lunch. I’m somewhat overcome by this great restaurant in reaching out to the vets! I’m 94, still walking around and most appreciative of good food. A fervent thank you to the owner, management and staff for this amazing recognition.”
“If you're looking for a venue that goes above and beyond in terms of hospitality and service, look no further. The staff here are simply incredible - they are always on hand to help, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I recently had the pleasure of performing, and I have to say that I was blown away by the level of support that the staff provided. As a DJ, it can be stressful trying to set up and sound check your equipment, but the staff made the whole process a breeze. They were so helpful and accommodating, and they went out of their way to ensure that my performance went smoothly. But it's not just the music guests who receive exceptional treatment. The staff are attentive and friendly with everyone, making sure that each and every guest feels welcome and valued. All in all, I can't recommend them highly enough. If you're looking for a venue with an outstanding team of staff who will go above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable, then look no further.”
“Delicious food! We ate on the patio and everything was delicious. 10/10 recommend. Their meatballs in my main course were some of the best I have ever had!”
“A wonderful success.
Every time we go, what happens is this:
We make our initial order. Halfway through eating it, we know we will want more, so we make a secondary order. Halfway through that one, we again realize we want just a last bit more of this or that (or anything at all, just MORE!) and so we put in our *third* order. That's how tasty (Word to the wise: don't sleep on the potato croquette, $2.75. Each diner needs their own, and I need two.).
One does grow tired of this surfeit of overly hip brick and mortars, every place trying to outdo the last in atmospheric proximity to a southern California hotspot. Chilly waiters, navel-gazing menus and stratospheric prices.
In contrast, Uroko is a simple walk up, but the food is as good as any of those places, and the atmosphere is nice enough for a casual date - without resorting to a dusty-dine at one of Austin's fecund food trailer parks. It is super fresh, super delicious, super affordable and accessible Japanese food. It's one of my top favorite places in town.
Vegetarian options: Potato croquettes, miso soup, chili garlic edamame, tofu salad, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, Veg Harumaki, avocado hand roll, pickle hand roll, flower & veg hand roll”
“Visited Austin for a few days and looked up a brunch spot to hit up… the name caught my attention and it did not disappoint! The kimchi hash was phenomenal! And you can never go wrong w a smoked salmon bagel! We will definitely be back when in the area! Staff was attentive, nice and the atmosphere was great! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Amazing dining experience. We sat at an outdoor bar table overlooking Lake Austin. We started with oysters and their Peruvian cheese fries while sipping on a delicious Black Forest cocktail. Had the filet Au Poivre. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection.”
“This bar has everything: ambience, the skyline views, a rich atmosphere with natural decor- lots of plants and trees-a forest like atmosphere. The small bites are different and delicious. The drinks are island inspired. We loved being there and can’t wait to go back. Reservations are highly recommended. Christian was our waiter. He was the best.”
“Oh man… dipping these bad boys in some queso at the end of a night of imbibing is just absolutely clutch. Makes you question if you’re really full, or if you’ve got room for one more slider.”
“Mia Italian Tapas & Bar in Austin, TX, exceeded all expectations for our 33rd anniversary celebration. After meeting the GM, Alex, a few weeks prior, we knew we were in for a treat. True to his word, Alex and Chef Phil crafted a personalized menu that left us feeling truly special. From the exquisite wine selection to the delectable tapas, main course, and dessert, every dish was exceptional. Special thanks to Jose, our attentive waiter, for ensuring a seamless experience. If you're in the Domain area, don't miss the chance to dine at Mia Italian Tapas & Bar – it's an unforgettable culinary journey.Mia Italian Tapas & Bar”
“Did the whole cocktail experience with the tasting. Probably one of the best Rainey Street things you could possibly do! Joe was super knowledgeable, and at the end I got to mix my own custom cocktail from a variety of ingredients. Will definitely come back just for the standard menu, but will probably do the cocktail experience again.”
“I eat here at least 2 to 3 times a month never disappointed food is always spot on the service is always superb”
“I tell you what the bartender knows how to do them drinks up! Barbacoa---one of the best around, anywhere. Its not even a big menu item, but the Barbacoa stacker, and on the weekend the Barbacoa Benedict, are top-notch. Local hang out joint, the blondie dessert is better than most desserts anywhere. Those 3 items alone and getting the right bartender(see ya on Fri/Sat night) with that selection of whiskey you'll go home happy.”
“Was treated here today, every single dish was over the top. The food was exquisite and delicious. The staff was so friendly and they have such a family atmosphere.”
“Our new go to sushi spot in ATX! There’s very few solid all you can eat sushi restaurants in the area and this place IS IT!
Big portions, fast service, and delicious food!
Come on a weekday or expect an hour plus wait on a Friday or Saturday evening.”
“Everything was on point! John, or server, took great care of us. The food and beverages were outstanding. The ambience was warm and enviting. We'll definitely be back!”

“I am brokenhearted, my favorite pizza restaurant is CLOSED. I did not even get a chance to say adios to my friends of 20+ years .... No warning just CLOSED..... The Black Lady who waited tables here for years had a heart of GOLD.The Pizza Chef was always excellent . I wish I could contact these fine, outstanding folks for one last TIP....”

“Came here because it was a trendy spot on tik-tok (mistake), there are muuuuuuch better food spots in the ATX area in terms of high quality dishes. That being said, the views are wonderful, the property is super cool, & our server Wyatt was a homie.
If the food was better, they’d get 5 stars but it’s like Disney world or cedar point quality food - they know it doesn’t have to be good because the attraction is the venue & views.
Fun to experience & take pictures at but maybe just get a drink & chips/salsa. Save your actual meal for elsewhere.”
“We dined with a large group so we had an option of family style menu. I thought portions would be small but I was rather surprised that we all got to enjoy the munu from appetizers to desserts. Steak was delicious, pork chops were a good portion size...food was really delicious.”
“We are visiting from out of town and Holden was the best server we could have asked for. I am gluten free and he made sure I knew all my options and explained every dish to me. He helped us celebrate our anniversary and made the whole experience top tier. If you’re in Austin, definitely check out Nido and ask for Holden!”
“Place is great! It’s consistent with the service, food and atmosphere. Every single family and friend we’ve gathered with absolutely LOVES this restaurant. We have been coming here for years and the tourists that feel it’s a “tourist trap” need to understand what type of restaurant they are walking into- local, great food, service and family owned. Knockout martini is amazing, Bob Armstrong dip is unbeatable. The burritos and beef fajitas are the best by far. We will continue to support Austin’s favorite Tex mex restaurant and clearly the people that matter will too.”
“Okay so I'm not giving 5 stars because the food was good but not excellent. Crudo was more like a ceviche. Not a fan of some of their flavor combinations and something was off about the manner in which you were supposed to eat the dishes. I was excited about the hummus but it came with these puffy rolls (they were tasty) that just weren't good for gathering up the hummus and meat and then when we asked if we could have more to finish the hummus, they brought back one roll even though there were two of us. Then they didn't tell you that pits came with the protein dish so we ordered rice for nothing. Also not a fan of being forced to order everything at once but food comes out individually, with time in between anyway. Favorite thing we tried was the falafel. Food was very fresh!”

“This place is a must try!! From the minute you walk up to the building you can feel the good vibes. The decor is similar to a retro diner/cafe and the food is modern Texan brunch. You definitely have to try the Gigantic cinnamon roll it is a show stopper!! and the churro pancakes were really good too. For mains my daughter had a chorizo Benedict that she said was really good, I had a special that was a shrimp and avocado toast which I thought about for two days after, and my youngest had more pancakes that she said were bussin’. They make their own hot sauce that you definitely need to try, and have fresh juice cocktails made with Natalie’s Juices. The manager Daniel came over and checked on us to seal the deal and complete our excellent service from start to finish. I wish I remembered our server’s name she was excellent, but I was overwhelmed with the great menu and beautiful building. Do yourself a favor and go get some brunch!!”
“I recently visited the Indian food truck, and I must say, their momo this is truly exceptional. The flavors were rich and authentic, with a perfect balance of spices and ingredients. It's a must-try for anyone looking to savor the delicious tastes of nepal on the go! They have 2 staff
They are really friendly

“Delicious BBQ and beer available local to my grocery shopping needs; love it! My only negative feedback is that there is a very strong resonant sound from something - I assume an air handler - in the dining area. Some areas are almost silent but some are unbearably loud. Hopefully they can put some sound deafening in or something. Otherwise, fantastic.”
“Great experience, Excellent Barbecue. Super friendly people.”
