“Went there for the first time yesterday. And I must say 10/10 I will be back again and again. The food is to die for!”
“Always a great experience and consistent great food and service when I am visiting Alaska this place is a must!”
“One of my favorite restaurants! Great food and hospitality! True comfort food without being terrible for you. I always leave happier than when I go there.”
“great atmosphere and friendly service, food is always delicious.”
“Umami BBQ is a great spot for a unique dining experience. We ordered the seafood special hot pot, which came with two broths, both of which were excellent. I was a little underwhelmed at the amount of meats vs veggies we were given, but overall the food was great. The drinks we ordered from the bar were also very good, and they were delivered by the highlight of the experience, Umami BBQ's own drink service robot! This robot drops off your drinks while sporting fun music, and it will even sing you happy birthday! Overall, it makes the whole experience more fun and novel.
Would recommend to anyone looking for an interesting dinner experience in east Anchorage!”

“We found this restaurant by accident. Our mom and aunt wanted pasta, but they wanted to be somewhere quiet. My brother googled and found this place. At first we thought we were at the wrong address since we didn’t see a sign. But we peaked in and we were met by the owner who asked us to take a seat. Service was fast, the food was amazing! And talk about a great salad bar with everything you would want on a salad with house made dressings. Everyone in the family ordered something different, from a mushroom burger to spaghetti and Greek pizza. The servings were so generous two people could eat or you will have leftovers. Oh, and we were even introduced to the owners daughter. It was a nice evening and has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat.”
“Professional and courteous staff with amazing food. The bar has knowledgeable bartenders with an excellent cocktail menu and an awesome selection of wine, liquor and draft beer. The pork chop is delicious and the bangers are bangin’ 💯 Definitely worth the money spent and worth the wait if they are busy👊🏼”

“Terrible service, brought friends from outside of state and it was embarrassing after telling them what a "great" place. Halibut was over cooked and too much batter. The waitress made a RUDE remark about a server who dropped a plate of food. We were basically ignored. It wasn't even busy, mid-afternoon. SORRY, I still have gift cards to spend because I don't really want to go back. disappointed 😞”
“The culinary arts students at UAA have a restaurant where they put their learned knowledge to the test in a restaurant setting called Lucy's.
It was a delicious 3-course lunch with a salad, entree, and a dessert buffet. You get to give feedback to the students afterwards so they can improve.
Awesome food and atmosphere to enjoy with friends at the end of the Spring semester. You must sign up and reserve online.”
“Nina, the owner was kind enough to set up a special tea party for me and my out of town guest. Her shop has a large selection of loose leaf teas and it was busy in there but she was patient and helped us find something we liked, even offering us a sample of their house tea. The tea sandwiches were flavorful and delicate. The doughnuts were so good!!! There’s so much to see in this little shop and plenty of delicious treats. I will be back!”
“A great restaurant when in Anchorage! I know everyone raves about Moose's Tooth but, I would go to Hearth over the crowded and busy atmosphere of Moose's Tooth. Selection was great, service was super friendly and no wait time!”

“I found the drive thru employee a rude snotty young man. He gave me the wrong sauce, no napkins and seemed bothered when I asked a question. Do better man! Don't ruin my meal because you don't want to be there...grow up! Manager be more aware of your employees service standards. YOU need to do better to!
I worked in fast food through hs and college and would never acted this was and gotten away with it, not that I would. It seems today's works less and their slightly older managers really need a bit of help from the older generations. Respect your position and perform your duties with some pride.”
“I ate an egg and sausage cheese McGriddle from here one stormy morning when the weather was just not cutting it (normally, can pretty much subsist on sunshine alone. At least 'til lunch.)
The lady who delivered the order to the window was sweet and very smiley, seemingly simple touch but really nice on an un-fun morning.
(As for the McGriddle, I may or may not order it again. I had thought it would have english muffin holding the eggy sausage goodness inside but I was wrong. It was lightly sweet pancake-like things, which were a touch rubber sole-ish along the outside edges and a tad greasy on the lips. But did I finish it? Yes. Yes I did.)”
“A really nice place, good for dates. It actually has a full stock bar unlike many places that claim to. Food is good too, it's downtown so it close to most places.”
Takeout Restaurants
“Outstanding! It’s been 8 long years since I’ve had a ham/cheese croissant made in the traditional French way and it was a delight to discover this wonderful bakery and the aforementioned croissant. Enjoyed some delicious danishes before returning a second time for some baguettes to accompany leftover Christmas dinner! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️”
“What a delightful place my wife and I went today. We felt like we stepped through the door and into Germany again. We haven't had so delicious of coffee since leaving Germany. The fresh blueberry Belgian waffles are fantastic, as well as the pastries these German women make themselves. It was such a delightful place We discovered today, and we will make it our regular go-to place every Sunday.”
“Amazing food and very friendly staff. Usually do breakfast but decided to try lunch today. I got the chicken bacon Swiss sandwich (special for the day) chicken was hot and fries were so unique! My friend got an of the menu item (it was slow enough the kitchen didn’t mind) and homemade beef and barley soup too! Everything was absolutely amazing! Will be returning again soon!”
“The fried chicken sandwich is good (but it tasted like fish). I really liked the Boba fizzy soda. The mac and cheese tasted like Annie's boxed mac and cheese. Don't bother paying for it. You can make it at home. The caramel apple bread pudding is heavenly!! Portion sizes are good! I had leftovers.”
“I ordered takeout for the “back alley smash burger”, after seeing the home made buns I knew it had to be worth the $17 price tag. And boy oh boy, was it ever! This place is far from the “bearded burger joint/new age stereotype”. Their burger and chips are amazing, all homemade ingredients. I highly HIGHLY recommend you to try out Altruro Bistro, don’t let the pricing scare you away from what the menu has to offer, it’s worth every last penny!!!”

“Birch & Alder where have you been my whole life?! Tucked away roadside coffee shop, the burrata sandwich on focaccia is nothing short of a culinary success. The creamy burrata, crispy prosciutto (wow) perfect! Layers of fresh brightness, but the zhoug sauce (double wow)! When I say it’s a 10 out of 10, I really mean it’s an 11 an absolute must try for anyone chasing the ultimate sandwich experience. Nothing but smiles:)”

“Very clean restaurant and great service. I ordered the burger and brew salad and it was the tastiest, fresh salad I had in a long time. It tasted home made and I will be back for more. I also tried the blueberry lager and it was delicious and compliments the salad perfectly!”
“Not only does Yak and Yeti have fantastic (!) food, but it serves as a pillar of community on the West side of Anchorage. They employ lots of high school and college students, and the owner is incredibly supportive of young people pursuing their dreams. Oftentimes you'll find information about local scholarships and other opportunities printed out at the front counter. I study there every week and look forward to interacting with the staff, who make an effort to remember details about me. One time the owner even told me to put my phone down from across the restaurant when he knew I had an exam to be studying for. This restaurant and the people who run it are very special. If Yak and Yeti has 1 fan it's me, and if they have 0 fans I'm dead!!”
“We really enjoy Bernie's and visit often. It's one of the few places to go in Anchorage that you can smoke cigars and have a tasty beverage. Even in the winter they'll fire up the outdoor heaters so you stay warm and dry.
The food is surprisingly good, and service has always been top notch.
This isn't a posh bar, but it's a fantastic lounge and place to hang out. They do what they do very well.”
“Everything!!! My first visit there was earlier this week with two friends. I ordered the Goat Cheese and Beet Salad. It was out-of-this-world. The encrusted Goat Cheese was extraordinary. It was warm with a delicious crispy outside and a warm soft goat cheese inside. There were 3 on the salad and I could only eat one. I brought the other 2 home, warmed them up in my toaster oven and again they were amazing even the next day. The salad was huge. I also brought half of it home. The Basil Balsamic dressing was perfect and the candied pecans were huge and amazing too. The whole salad was wonderful with the combination of the other ingredients. It came with a yummy warm homemade biscuit. I also ordered their Tomato Basil Soup and it was the best I have ever had and it is a favorite of mine and I have ordered it at many other restaurants. It too came with a biscuit. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Thunder Cake which I took home. I have had it in small slices, warmed up, with vanilla ice cream and I still have lots of slices to go. It totally melts in your mouth. I am a dark chocolate lover and it was the best. I am going to Sis’s Cafe again tomorrow with another friend!! Silver”
“I’m not a fan of sushi but ReHaru is where my granddaughter wanted to go for her birthday lunch. The atmosphere was delightful and the food was excellent! Our server was full of personality and provided excellent service which earned him a very generous tip (60%). I highly recommend this restaurant as one of the best in Anchorage!”
“Fresh, delicious food, I ate every bite! Open late into the evening as well.”
“First time visiting Mandala in Anchorage, Alaska. Food and service were impeccable. We ordered the Buttered Chicken and the Garlic Naan, not a single grain of rice or drop of sauce was left! We will definitely be visiting again, soon!”
“Magnetic North was perhaps our favorite Alaska brewery. Everything about Magnetic North – the food, beer, and service – is wonderful.”
“I’ve been craving a bento box for a couple weeks now did some research of different restaurants in Anchorage and found this place. I went in to check it out and look at their menu. First off one of the cleanest places I’ve seen, very nice and helpful staff especially with placing a to go order. Omg the portion sizes for a Mongolian beef bento box was enough to feed two people and reasonably priced. Definitely my go to bento box place.”
“I went for a late lunch. They have amazing food and a cool vibe.”
“My daughter wanted a seafood boil for her 18th birthday and this place exceeded our expectations. The owner and other staff member went above and beyond! The food was absolutely amazing and the overall experience was even better!”
“Great food, excellent service. Clean restaurant with a nice ambience.”
“Amazing local brewery with friendly staff and many craft brew offerings..got a canned cider bc no gluten free beer or seltzer but it was good. The salad and poke bowl were out of this world. Best food the entire vacation!”
“Superlative food, wonderful service, wide-ranging menu. Two to-go experiences, one dine-in date night and this is now one of our most favorite restaurants in Anchorage.”
“These are some of the best beers I have had in Anchorage. The Variety and skill in these beers is absolutely Amazing! And they owners are just the sweetest awesomest people; I may only make it there every so often but Cindy remembers me every time :)”
“It was my first time visiting last night and I love KBBQ. Their service was fast and efficient. The portions are huge compared to other kbbq places in anchorage. Even the price for the combo a that feeds 2-3 people was amazing! I would definitely come back here again! I was very pleased!”
“Great restaurant and even better since being taken over by new owners. Classic dishes like Vegan High Protein Wrap as delicious as ever, delicious soups of the day, and nice big portions. Everything tastes so nutritious and satisfying, fresh ingredients and great flavor. Really nice staff as well. Their smoothies are excellent. Great spot with food that makes you feel good. Love a place with kale on the menu 💚💚💚”
“I’m in town for less than 24 hours and was looking for a good sushi lunch. I’m glad I chose Arigato. I was greeted immediately on entering, provided a seat at a booth, and given a hot tea I didn’t even know I wanted much less requested.
I ordered some nigiri and then was brought a salad and miso soup—I didn’t request or expect either of them, they simply were provided—all quite tasty.
The nigiri I ordered was delicious. The rice was perfect as was the fish.
You will not be disappointed with your experience at Arigato.”
“Love Sorrentos we have been going to that restaurant for many years. It is one of the best ones in town the top one I would say for Italian food.”
“We’ve long been fans of Serrano’s take-out for our company events, but when we heard about their stunning new Terra’s Room downtown, we couldn’t resist hosting our statewide management team there, and it did not disappoint!
From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. Serrano’s Manager, Monica G., connected us with Alysha from Elevated & Refined for our tablescapes, and she absolutely nailed it. The setup was gorgeous, warm, elegant, and completely honored our 70 years in business.
The food and service were outstanding as always. The legendary beans at the Taco Bar had everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds), and the star of cocktail hour was a show-stopping charcuterie board that disappeared almost as fast as it was served.
We left full, happy, and already planning our next event. AVIS Alaska will definitely keep Serrano’s at the top of our list for every celebration.”
“Where have I been hiding since December 15th, 2023?! I must have been hiding under a rock. You mean to tell me it took me 370 days to explore this restaurant?! Yummy!!!”
“Great food great service it is a must even when you have to wait for a table”
“Been going to this Korean restaurant several times over the past few years whenever I'm in town. Frequented by locals, so you know it's pretty authentic.
The banchan (side dishes) are tasty and they are generous with the variety. My usual items to order are the soft tofu soup and grilled Galbi. Both are pretty tasty but recently I've found that it can taste a little too salty.”
“I’ve been loving the Blueberry Mary Kombucha! I need to try more flavors but this one has been an awesome treat.”
“my wife and I attended tonight's performance of the great Alaskan show. great fun.”
“Just had take out from the Club. The smoked rib eye is AMAZING! The chicken breast was also excellent. Portions were very generous. This is a two meal deal. Looking forward to leftovers tomorrow! Yay, Chef John! You rock! 😘”
“Best food I’ve had in a long time! One of my new favorite places! And the customer service was amazing!”
“Best sushi in downtown anchorage and my favorite sushi restaurant in town hands down! The service is super warm and welcoming. We did not wait long for our food to come out and the owner checks in on how we are enjoying the food. The fish and uni seems to always be fresh and delicious. My favorite is the hamachi roll. The owner said they tweaked their ramen recipe and now it is my favorite ramen in town and you can get it late at night on the weekends, which I love. 10/10 experience!!!”
“Service is hit or miss, chips are sometimes stale, but the carnitas are always excellent.”
“It was awesome!!! The service was great even there was quite a bit of people. Our food came out fantastic! The Salmon Kama is a must have!!!!”
“I went to Humpys for lunch before seeing the Nutcracker at PAC. Our server was extremely nice and accommodating. I normally order the halibut tacos, but wanted to try something new. I ordered the Crab roll and HOLY CRAB it was a monster and delicious! Very generous portion size with warm buttered bread, toasted to a light golden color with a slight crunch and still soft in the middle. YUM!”
“Anybody looking for a bomb place to eat especially for a special occasion, tequila 61 is where it's at. Food was S00 dam bomb, service too was bomb. Don't miss out yall♥️
DEFINITELY 10/10......”

“Our first time coming here. We will be coming back for sure. Friendly staff, excellent food. We went big and got a bunch of different things to try, then brought the leftovers home. The banchan and cinnamon tea were really nice too.”
“Amazing food and great service. We came with a large group with little notice on a Monday night and they welcomed us with open arms. I sampled most of the Italian dishes and they were large servings and really good. I choose the steak and it was also good and I would’ve given them a top review anyway, However, I had a second visit the next day in search of my lost purse and Andreas (maybe the owner himself) went beyond over and above to help me locate my purse. Like amazing effort that saved me a day of stress that would’ve cost me a nice train trip with my family. My extended family who also lives close by told me later about how much comfort and compassion they have shown my aunt who is recently lost her husband, when she comes in. Places like this don’t exist where I live. Thank you so much for being extraordinary!”
“Was a loving caring respectful welcoming feeling when you first walking. Food is delicious and get plenty of food. I was very shocked and surprised for how much food you get for just $60.00 bucks”
“God bless whichever one of you psychopaths created that pizza. Literally the best pizza I've had in my entire life. I thought I knew good pizza until I tried yours and it changed my life. Keep it up!”
“I’m a traveller from Australia and we don’t have any places like these any more due to legislation re smoking etc.
I specifically came here to have a smoke in comfort, indoors and meet some of the locals who were friendly and engaging.
Loved this place. Life’s good”
“I didn’t take a picture but the grilled salmon dinner with broccoli and onion rings was delicious. Looked great, arrived hot. My husband ordered the grilled halibut with rice and asparagus. Really good! Best fish I’ve had in Alaska in 3 years.”
“Loved the experience. First time there with my family. From the time we arrived during the serving and even our meal the whole experience was awesome. Thanks for an amazing time. Definitely will come again 🥰🥰🥰.”
“#Winning #Ballin #kiddieclub

another birthday another dollar and time spent making memories, if you ain't celebrate at least 1 bday at Chuck's yo Mama and Pops ain't really let you be all you can be as a kid”
“Friendly staff and amazing food! Also my favorite pizza in Anchorage! And don’t get me started on the Ekmek…!!!!!”
“Whenever I'm in Anchorage, if I have time, I drop in. Usually, I never have an issue getting a table for a few guys and hitting the pool table and jukebox. Good assortment of beer and well priced. Also sells commemorative pint glasses for the Iditarod for cheap.”
“The food helps me not miss the lower 48 (hard to find Catfish here) and has also introduced me to cakes I had never heard of before!😁”
“had a great Valentines lunch with the wifey, food was great and Cassidy was a great server!”
“Nice, friendly staffs. Quick service Love the nachos, Wings and meat pie”
“The best Indian food in Anchorage hands down! We had the chicken samosa, keema naan, butter chicken, and the chicken bunha, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The service and the servers are great as well. Overall a fantastic experience, we will definitely be coming back again.”
“Food and service was excellent!! My only gripe is the wine list which is small and uninspiring.”
“The food had good taste and flavor, and the bartender was friendly and had good recommendations. The atmosphere was chill and just what was needed after a Monday-like-Tuesday, I'll be returning again in the future :)
Technical notes: Food came in a timely manner, attentive staff, and the venue offered a relaxing atmosphere where the music wasn't too loud but just loud enough for general conversation. Utilities were clean and well kept.”
“Definitely a repeat destination in Anchorage for sushi, sushimi, and japanese entrees. They provide a very delicious cinnamon tea for a complimentary dessert. #1 destination!”
“Genuinely like being in Japan! This restaurant and owner were such a pleasant surprise. One of the best meals I had in Alaska! Try the “idiot fish” Be prepared for a long wait for your order to get taken and then again to get served, it’s just a one man show and he does order by order all by himself. Get his attention and order some sake or a beer whilst you wait and be patient and kind to him because it’s SO worth it!”
“Lobster, crab meat, sashimi, whatever tastes good to you take your pick!!! Fresh, no scent! Large portions and I’m not talking about rice! Can’t lose!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Really enjoyed my experience here. I haven’t been able to find a selection like this in Alaska. I usually have to order online or have a friend send from put of state or even out of the contract. I’ve recommended to several friends in the area.”
“There were 7 of us in our group for breakfast. Making a reservation online was quick and easy. Once there, we were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The service and hosting staff were fantastic! The food was excellent and well presented. Overall, as visitors to Skagway, our experience was so enjoyable.”

“1st time visitor. Went with family. One of the machines wasn’t working after using card, asked mgr & he gave us our choice of games in that area so we didn’t lose any money. Very nice guy. We had a booth but only ordered lemonade or water and the server (forgot her name, sorry) with long blonde hair was great! Made sure we were always doing ok! Too loud for me but grandkids love it!”
“Brewerks is the kind of place you hope no one else discovers—but you can’t help telling everyone about it anyway. It’s tucked into an industrial corner of Anchorage with no frills, no fluff—just incredible beer and the kind of atmosphere that feels real. Inside, it’s welcoming in that quiet, unpolished way: barrel tables, a loft above, and Chad (the owner and brewer) probably behind the bar, pouring the beer he made himself. That kind of presence matters. You feel it in the space and in every pour. The beer is creative, clean, and thoughtful. No shortcuts. The hazy IPAs hit just right, the stouts are layered and rich without being overdone, and the rotating sours and goses are genuinely interesting—not trendy for the sake of it. You can tell he’s brewing for flavor, not followers. It’s a place where the beer speaks first, and then the people do—and both are worth listening to. If you like places where you can actually hear yourself think, where the beer is the centerpiece without needing to be flashy, and where the owner still cares enough to look you in the eye—go to Brewerks. It’s one of the best things happening in Anchorage.”

“The Lox schmear on the Italian herb bagel was literal perfection! The perfect amount of toasty-meets-gooey, an ideal portion size, and piled high with fresh ingredients. The warm contemporary vibe was enjoyable as well. And the pastries looked delectable - will be back!”

“Tucked away in the back of a main floor executive office tower, Dripping Zero provides a quiet place to enjoy a great cup of coffee or a quick lunch. There's plenty of seating inside or outside, with large windows to let in the light and provide a view. The owners are super friendly and happy to serve you anything from their menu or curate something of your choice. Prices are fantastic! This place can't be beat if you're a coffee aficionado.”
“I'm a big fan of a good cheese steak. However; the fast food setup at Charley's is good! I am a huge fan of their buffalo Philly sandwich. Love it.
Staff is always great, especially considering the small work area and the lunch crush.
It's worth a visit. Oh yeah, they have other locations off the military base in Anchorage.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed a Mango Heatwave mocktail, tonight, with my dinner. Fresh and fruity, with enough heat to know it's not playing around, but not lingering, so you'd regret it. I love how all of the flavors are pure and intense, and not covered up with chemicals and things we cannot identify.”
“One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time ordering from a restaurant. Keep up the great work chef!”
