I recommend asking for it on the side, as it creates a unique flavor when paired with the steak. This experience really highlights why the restaurant is named Umami!”

“Hello! Most of the time I would put this coffee shack as a highly recommended place. However, today at 1:25pm Sunday Aug. 1, 2021, it was not. The girls working at the shack were very gloomy and disorganized and got our orders wrong. They both seemed like they were totally spaced out. It is such a shame because every other time we have come here, they have been terrific. I love the coffee and frappes here. Just today, it was bad. Please don’t give up on coming here. Hopefully, there will be some friendlier and more helpful baristas next time.”

I got the birria tacos on the first trip. Definitely the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were the perfect amount of greasy deliciousness. Highly recommend. I got the strawberry horchata because why not. It was different. Happy I tried it but I'm good.
The next trip, I got the California burrito. Honestly it was just okay when I ate it fresh. But when I ate it as leftovers the next day OMG. It was way way better.
I'll have to return next week to get the Mexican Caesar to see if it stands up to my coworker's hype.

“Everything!!! My first visit there was earlier this week with two friends. I ordered the Goat Cheese and Beet Salad. It was out-of-this-world. The encrusted Goat Cheese was extraordinary. It was warm with a delicious crispy outside and a warm soft goat cheese inside. There were 3 on the salad and I could only eat one. I brought the other 2 home, warmed them up in my toaster oven and again they were amazing even the next day. The salad was huge. I also brought half of it home. The Basil Balsamic dressing was perfect and the candied pecans were huge and amazing too. The whole salad was wonderful with the combination of the other ingredients. It came with a yummy warm homemade biscuit. I also ordered their Tomato Basil Soup and it was the best I have ever had and it is a favorite of mine and I have ordered it at many other restaurants. It too came with a biscuit. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Thunder Cake which I took home. I have had it in small slices, warmed up, with vanilla ice cream and I still have lots of slices to go. It totally melts in your mouth. I am a dark chocolate lover and it was the best. I am going to Sis’s Cafe again tomorrow with another friend!! Silver”

“Stumbled upon Arigato by accident staying at a motel down the street while I overnight in Anchorage on my way to work for 5 weeks up in the Northwest part of the state. I was HUNGRY when I came in and ordered several dishes-edamame, spicy tofu, tempura Halibut (seasonal), and two sushi rolls. The owner who was waiting on me also surprised me with a delicious little soup and salad to start the feast. Every dish was one more delicious than the next. The edamame was piping hot with perfect amount of salt, spicy tofu 10/10, the tempura halibut had so much flavor and dipped in a little splash of soy sauce was so tasty, and the sushi rolls were fresh and flavorful and delicious. I will get a ride across town to eat here again if work lodges me at a different hotel on my next trip in October-I will absolutely be back! And yes, I ate it ALL!! This place is an absolute gem.”

I choose the steak and it was also good and I would’ve given them a top review anyway, However, I had a second visit the next day in search of my lost purse and Andreas (maybe the owner himself) went beyond over and above to help me locate my purse. Like amazing effort that saved me a day of stress that would’ve cost me a nice train trip with my family. My extended family who also lives close by told me later about how much comfort and compassion they have shown my aunt who is recently lost her husband, when she comes in. Places like this don’t exist where I live. Thank you so much for being extraordinary!”

“We randomly selected Applebees for lunch and were not disappointed. We were greeted by Miss Bobby, who held the door for my disabled husband (and was so sweet). Our server, Sierra, was top tier with customer service. Her positive attitude definitely adds to the great experience.
The food: we ordered the trio appetizers (crunch shrimp, chicken quesadilla, and boneless wings) and the whiskey bacon burger.
The quesadilla had fresh veggies, the shrimp was juicy and crisp. The boneless wings were legit. The burger was popping flavor and dripping sauce (chef kept them juices in). The drinks were also delicious. Will be back for more good food and service ❤️”

“Brewerks is the kind of place you hope no one else discovers—but you can’t help telling everyone about it anyway. It’s tucked into an industrial corner of Anchorage with no frills, no fluff—just incredible beer and the kind of atmosphere that feels real. Inside, it’s welcoming in that quiet, unpolished way: barrel tables, a loft above, and Chad (the owner and brewer) probably behind the bar, pouring the beer he made himself. That kind of presence matters. You feel it in the space and in every pour. The beer is creative, clean, and thoughtful. No shortcuts. The hazy IPAs hit just right, the stouts are layered and rich without being overdone, and the rotating sours and goses are genuinely interesting—not trendy for the sake of it. You can tell he’s brewing for flavor, not followers. It’s a place where the beer speaks first, and then the people do—and both are worth listening to. If you like places where you can actually hear yourself think, where the beer is the centerpiece without needing to be flashy, and where the owner still cares enough to look you in the eye—go to Brewerks. It’s one of the best things happening in Anchorage.”

“My man got himself a smash burger and said it was wonderful. I chose the pulled pork fries. I thought I would get a messy pile. I was handed an edible wonder. A cone of steak fries topped with delicious, tender pulled pork, with perfectly tangy BBQ sauce and zesty red cabbage slaw sprinkled with chives and a drizzle of garlic sauce. It looked great, it tasted fantastic. Every bite was a triumph. Better pulled pork than I’ve had on the islands. No slimmy skin or fatty parts. Just good pork. The proportions of ingredients was perfect down to the last mouthful. Totally changed the trajectory of my day. I wished I lived closer so I could plan a visit every few weeks. Not sure if Michelin stars are awarded to dishes served at food trucks but they should be for those pulled pork fries. Wow!”
