“W&R wasn’t necessarily the most welcoming environment. I also didn’t appreciate the air of pretentiousness from the staff. Although the atmosphere was gorgeous it was really loud. Our server was abrasive and said some comments that were passive aggressive, but he did his job well. The appetizers were great! I recommend the scotch tamago. The chicken wings were dinky considering the price, but I liked the citrus breading. I wish the ramen was more hot since it was only warm when we got it. I want to see steam emanating from the bowl as ramen should be. The business lounge ramen was missing the enoki and the chasu for the sugamo star seemed too tough to be considered actual pork tenderloin. I feel like you can’t expect greatness from a “ramen shop” in Alaska but I appreciate the effort.”

I was charged $113 for my dinner which ok I didn’t ask it was my bad and what I got was expected to be pricey. The vegetable served with my meal was a little cherry tomato and a tiny piece of lettuce. They no longer serve dinners with soup or salad unless it’s the special. Looks like most restaurants do that now but I feel like if I pay $113 for a meal I should at least get a vegetable or a soup or salad with my meal. Normally the service is excellent but this time the server we received was a ⭐️⭐️. Idk his name but it was a tall skinny man. He didn’t hardly checked on us. We had empty cups most of the dinner. He made it very hard to flag him down for anything (drink refill, butter, Togo boxes, etc.) even know we were seated right in front of the kitchen where the waiter was a lot. Almost like he made it a point to not look at us so we couldn’t ask him for anything. I will be back and I will still recommend because the food is excellent and This restaurant holds a special place in my heart because I grew up with my grandparents taking me there a lot.”

Her shop has a large selection of loose leaf teas and it was busy in there but she was patient and helped us find something we liked, even offering us a sample of their house tea. The tea sandwiches were flavorful and delicate. The doughnuts were so good!!! There’s so much to see in this little shop and plenty of delicious treats. I will be back!”

The highlight of my evening was definitely the bar, thanks to the incredibly hospitable bartender, James. It's rare to find a place that crafts a perfect Dirty Martini, but James absolutely knocked it out of the park. The blue cheese olives were fresh and flavorful, and the drink was balanced and expertly made. The entire staff was attentive and welcoming, making the visit truly memorable. If you're in Anchorage and appreciate top-notch cocktails and great service, you can't miss Ginger. Highly recommend!”

“Hello! Most of the time I would put this coffee shack as a highly recommended place. However, today at 1:25pm Sunday Aug. 1, 2021, it was not. The girls working at the shack were very gloomy and disorganized and got our orders wrong. They both seemed like they were totally spaced out. It is such a shame because every other time we have come here, they have been terrific. I love the coffee and frappes here. Just today, it was bad. Please don’t give up on coming here. Hopefully, there will be some friendlier and more helpful baristas next time.”

“We wanted to try something new. Found Sushi Motto. When we arrived we were greeted and seated. Our oldest was having a hard time deciding on what he wanted because it's a new place. One of the ladies came to our table and helped him with his decision. She was amazing with helping him. Made it a calm and easy choice. All of our meals were exceptional. King fu panda. Lion king. Surf and turf. California roll. Crunch roll. And shrimp fried rice. The sushi rolls held together very well, no falling apart. And to top it off. The same lady came by and gave us of desert options. We chose fried Oreos. By far the BEST fried Oreos we have ever had. Now that being said. What a great first impression. The prices were very reasonable. All the staff were friendly and courteous. What a fun atmosphere. We have paid more at other places and they add automatic gratuity because we are a family of five. Which I find unprofessional. We will definitely be back. Next on the list. Shabu Shabu. Thank you for a wonderful experience.”

“Every morning I go through their drive through is very accessible and never long lines to wait in . The girls make great coffees never too hot or too sweet and they make them so quick it's like they knew you were coming and had it prepared waiting for you. Lol I mean seriously that is how quickly I get my coffee. They have points program to earn free drinks and these ladies are always friendly with big smiles on their faces and never forget to get my number so I get my points. There's a great selection of not just drinks but snacks and wholesome ones at that. My favorite part is that they carry coffee beans and I am able to purchase a bag of them. Not all stands offer that option so it's definitely a plus. Great location where you are able to get in and out quickly. Thank You for your awesome service Ladies. “This is my very first time trying this place, and let me tell you.... I am a huge foodie snob and like my food very flavorful and on point... El Jefe, YOU DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We ordered on door dash. The flavors. Oh my gosh, the flavors! I had the Street Taco (3 Pieces) in 3 different flavors, as well as the Chips & Salsa: Honey lime chicken - the pulled chicken was tender and juicy. You could really taste the genuine honey-lime flavor, which I usually dont taste in food from other places. It was delightful. Spicy pork carnitas - the pulled pork was tender and delicious. It had a hint of the spicy, but not too spicy where you blow your pallete. Carnitas are some of my favorite tacos to eat when theyre made right, and these were perfect. Sweet and Smokey - my absolute fave! I am not the biggest fan of a "Smokey" flavor in some things, but the smokiness in the pulled pork was just perfection and made my tastebuds dance. I truly enjoyed the taste and savored it after every bite! The tacos all had the same toppings, which was surprisingly nice! It had some kind of aoli or chipotle crema kind of sauce with tasty seasonings and spices, red onions, lightly pickled jalepenos (not spicy), a small slice of avocado and finished with cotija cheese, and that just brought all of the flavors from every taco together. The chips and salsa I believe are a bit overpriced, but they were good. Good crunch on the corn chips, and the salsa was fresh and flavorful. The tacos were definetly the spotlight. I am happy to share that personally, El Jefe is the best street taco joint in Alaska! I will definitely order here again and will have to go give the place a visit in person next!! After a fun chat with the owner, I couldn’t resist the temptation of trying their tacos. I’m beyond impressed. If a professional food reviewer claimed these tacos are the best in Anchorage—it wouldn’t be an exaggeration. Homemade corn tortillas! The owner is constantly preparing food so it’s fresh, fast, and incredibly delicious. Definitely try Taqueria Cortez because it’s rare to fall in love in Anchorage. I will return with chihuahua!”

The service is always great here they are always so kind and in a good mood.”

“Stumbled upon Arigato by accident staying at a motel down the street while I overnight in Anchorage on my way to work for 5 weeks up in the Northwest part of the state. I was HUNGRY when I came in and ordered several dishes-edamame, spicy tofu, tempura Halibut (seasonal), and two sushi rolls. The owner who was waiting on me also surprised me with a delicious little soup and salad to start the feast. Every dish was one more delicious than the next. The edamame was piping hot with perfect amount of salt, spicy tofu 10/10, the tempura halibut had so much flavor and dipped in a little splash of soy sauce was so tasty, and the sushi rolls were fresh and flavorful and delicious. I will get a ride across town to eat here again if work lodges me at a different hotel on my next trip in October-I will absolutely be back! And yes, I ate it ALL!! This place is an absolute gem.”

There was also a manager in the back holding court with other employees and it made us a little uncomfortable hearing What employees had to say about other employees and managers. After we paid our bill I spoke to the manager upfront and explain the situation. She was very apologetic. Explained what was going on and then offered me a $30 gift card to come back from the valley into Anchorage to give Olive Garden another chance. I was impressed with her customer service her honesty and her willingness to make it right. Olive Garden is still one of my favourite places to eat.”

For breakfast it offers a buffet for about $14 which includes eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, juice and coffee, which was not very good. However, I ordered the French toast with strawberries which was great and the avocado toast which was fresh and delicious, a nice surprise for a place that doesn't have a full kitchen. I also ordered the sugar waffle with candied walnuts and fruit. This was delicious too, but very, very sweet. Avoid the buffet if you can.”
