“This review is for the potsticker dumplings and the wonton and BBQ pork fried rice. Coming from Japan and really loving the vibe of the place, my partner seemed to have a found love for the food. She said the potsticker dumplings were some of the best she’s ever had in Vancouver and I would agree. She loved the wonton which I’ve always described as a style of wonton that was the de rigueur before the shrimp wontons came from Hong Kong in the eighties. The old school home made style Cantonese flavours are ever present here in their Chinese food. It’s one of my favourites which is getting harder and harder to find these days. Now if they decide to make that old style Wok hey flavoured minced beef and rice with fried egg. I’ll tell everyone all over again to get that! (But it’s not in the menu). Maybe they’ll add it to the menu? Anyways, I was happy that I introduced a new fan to the Northern Cafe and more happy that I got their special hot sauce! And yes, I do agree that when Yelp said they were number one. They still are!“
“February 10th, 2023 was such a tiring day. I had classes at UCW till late and, as a good hungry taurine, I had to eat something delicious to make me feel well. Also, it had to be mandatorily vegan, so I would also keep my mind in peace. While searching for a restaurant with vegan options, I saw this sushi one, called Cofu Pressed Sushi. It was not far from UCW Vancouver House (around 15 minutes by bus) and it would be open till 9:00 PM. So, I decided to go there. I called my husband and we met there. The restaurant is not that large, and they have just a few tables, just the way I like it. But the best, in my opinion, was that it was so clean, fragrant, and decorated with such a good neatness that I felt a cozy mood as soon as I entered. Nevertheless, we were very well welcomed by the server, and he explained the whole menu to us. Besides they former factors I mentioned, the latter is the most important in my opinion. The way I am hosted and treated in any commercial place makes the whole difference in my final perception. I took the Aichi combo from the Omakase Menu. This combo had plant-based tuna (made of jackfruit), tofu, avocado, fresh mix veggie, and a sauce made of vivid beets and spicy mayo. As for my husband, he chose the Ofu combo. It had plant-based salmon (made of carrot and konjac), pumpkin, eggplant, red & yellow bell pepper, and a sauce made of cilantro, cucumber, and wild carrot. As the picture shows, the dish presentations were so beautiful, showing the food as something delicate, that the sushi master really took care of it. Last, but not least, the taste. It was so delicious! Every bite mattered to me. I was hungry, but I took every sushi slowly to feel all flavours and had the best sensory experience. For some the amount of food may look little, but I guarantee it made me fill satisfied. As a whole, I felt really delighted and I wish to return there soon to order the other options.“

I made a mistake by myself because I found the bowl not big as I expected but the owner explained that if I paid $1 more I could get as much as I wanted . I had the Braised Beef Noodles and the beef was so fresh and it was delicious! The noodles were cooked to perfection and the broth was flavourful and savoury.Each table doesn’t have the pack of chilly oil, vinegar and soy sauce even though I recommend this restaurant to everyone like asian foods.“

“Food: We ordered the shortrib poutine to start which comes with crispy potato balls and bonito flakes, it was so yummy and unique! The potatoes were nice and crispy and really elevated the dish! For mains we ordered the pork jowl don, aburi salmon don, Hennessy French toast and the lobster udon. The dons were a really good portion size and comes with a broth to pour in on the side so you can try it two ways. The Hennessy French toast was probably the best French toast I’ve ever had, the Kaya jam in the middle was such a nice touch. Lobster udon came with a whole lobster tail and was perfectly seasoned, needless to say we devoured it all! For dessert we got the white rabbit creme brulee and it was packed with white rabbit flavour!Service/atmosphere: Our server was super sweet and helpful and really took care of us the entire meal, she even gave us some white rabbit candies after we told her how much we enjoyed the dessert! The portions were generous and satisfying, offering great value for the price. We ended up taking some leftovers home as we couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The fusion of Japanese and Mexican flavors was executed perfectly. Travis, our server, was attentive and friendly. “Really phenomenal food - I don't know any other Chinese food restaurant in town with the same level of quality and atmosphere. I strongly recommend the chasiu, the singapore noodles and the cocktails.My main complaint is the service was a bit slow - it took over an hour to get all dishes, but they came out bit by bit. I would've preferred to eat some with the others that came out later. Also one of the veg dishes had undercooked squash.The reason I'm not going to give 4/5 is the food really is overall exceptional, the owner is really friendly / doing his best and there appeared to only be one main chef in the back.I say you should definitely go, but manage your expectations / hunger before going.“
“Service was great!! Everyone was super attentive. We just dropped in and did not have reservations. They got on the phone right away to check to see if one group was coming. They were able to seat us and with two kids. They were very attentive and explained the menu well and gave good recommendations. Food was tasty!! Even the kids liked it even though they said they don't like fancy foods. I think the only thing I wouldn't order again are the stone bowls. They were just ok. But all the other dishes we had were fancy but also tasted good. Ambiance was great and had fancy bathrooms!!“

“I came to Vancouver on a business trip and I came to Deer Alley by myself. I ordered Signature Taiwanese Beef Noodle and fruit tea. There were only a few customers in the store. It was quiet. Quick and nice service here.There were quite a few menu items but I ordered Signature Beef Noodle and a fruit drink to take hotel. The signature beef noodles was quite spicy and made me cough at first. It was funny because other people were coughing in the same way. However, I soon got used to the spiciness and finished eating. The beef was tender and just the right amount. I ordered a lemon drink to take home and had it added with jelly and shredded coconut.The taste was bland because no sweetener was added. Maybe it would be easier to drink if it was sweetened. I would like to try other menu items next time.“
