“Had always been passing by Moku when planning grocery shopping visits to New May Wah in Richmond. So glad to have made the time to dine out alone at Moku. Though they call themselves a Yakitori-ya, the menu screams Izakaya more so than almost every other Izakaya in the city. There’s a wide selection of Kushiyakis, raw items and fried items. Flavors of the food were fantastic and probably the one place in the city where I feel like I’m in Japan.Though I don’t live in the city anymore, I’ll definitely remember Moku Yakitori-ya as one of my favorite places to dine in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city.“

“I had a wonderful dinner experience! Our server, Jack, was excellent and really took care of our table. We ordered one deluxe and two regular charashi bowls for each of us. The fish was very fresh and the portions were huge. I really enjoyed my overall experience.
Jack was a very attentive and friendly server. He also was already checking in on us when we were outside waiting. He was checking on our table throughout the meal and even gave us a treat at the end.
Overall, I would highly recommend this spot!“

“It's hands down some of the best Japanese food I've had in SF. The skewers were generous, juicy, and charcoal grilled to perfection - they tasted absolutely amazing. The ramen was great too.
Definitely order the chicken thigh, meatball, and pork belly skewers. The scallops carpaccio was worth getting too“

“Celebrated my husband's 40th birthday here because he loves Wagyus. And I am happy that he loved it. I reserved this place for like a month before. When we came in we were immediately greeted. The Chefs are so kind and knowledgeable. So accomodating and pleasant. Chef Andy the owner was so nice to talk to very informative with all the dishes were having. My surprise was a success because my husband surely liked all of their wagyus and I love th concept of their restaurant where you have your own chef to prepare the food for you direcrlt from your own grill. And best of all at the end of the night they made my husband's bday extra special with a candle in his dessert and a bday song. Thank you again to Chef Andy and his crew. Definitely a great experience for us. Food and peole are great! Perfect combo“

“Delicious tasting menu! The husband and wife duo are passionate about their menu and it really shows. However, I did wish there were more ramen inspired dishes (not just one ramen dish). Nonetheless I still had a great meal and it was worth the experience. There aren't many seats at the counter, so plan to make those reservations early!“

“Fenikusu is one of favorite sushi restaurants. If you like Ju-Ni, The Shota, Wako, Hinata, you'll enjoy Fenikusu but in a different great way. The quality is terrific and at a neighborhood friendly price point. Please note that Fenikusu is about sushi so expect great, delicious Otoro and no California rolls. Lastly, it's a super date night spot!“

“Doma Sushi is charming, competitively priced, and delicious. The couple running the place perfectly synchronized the omakase courses. Everything kicked off with a fresh cucumber and shrimp dish. It was wonderful. The sushi pieces were generously sized and mouth-watering. The wagyu beef was buttery and flavorful. The tofu skin soup was warming and tasty. The chef was so precise in his work, it was fun to watch. The dessert was a melange of great flavors. It felt like we were invited into their home and treated with the highest hospitality. I’m a big fan. (Also, loved the background music playlist!)“

“Lovely Kaiseiki meal, we came here to celebrate Father’s Day and were really impressed with the food quality and variety. It is pricey (though not at the Michelin star/omakase level) and fit for special occasions. Located next to a number of very average restaurants in Millbrae, the interior is pretty cramped and average. Service was excellent. We ordered the Kaiseki set along with sashimi and everything was delicious and well-prepared.“

“Great food and great ambience love it so much“
“This is easily one of the best meals I've ever had in San Francisco. As others have mentioned, it felt like I was dining in Japan. Everything was exceptional: the service, the ambiance, the food, and the overall experience. It's so hard to pick what I liked best from the whole meal because it was...just...that...good.
The progression of dishes worked well; it seemed like they read my mind and knew exactly what I enjoyed most in Japanese cuisine. All the ingredients were top shelf, fresh, and shined through the dishes. Some of the dishes involved interaction, which Joe enthusiastically was a part of, making the whole meal enjoyable. There was a perfect balance of providing high quality without all the pretentiousness. Joe and the team made us feel like welcomed guests in their homes and not just patrons.
Very few establishments have left such an impression similar to Showa. The team hit it out of the park with this one. I want to keep this place a secret, but it's too good not to share.
Thank you, Joe and Koji-san, for this memorable experience! I'm spreading the word!
P.S. Check out the bathroom! :)“

“O-toro and maguru sashimi was OKAY. The uni nigiri (sea urchin) was AMAZING 10/10. They were very generous with the uni and it was so juicy. Service was really slow… another table ordered AND got their food before us, but it was worth the wait. Will definitely be back“

“Maybe we're a little immature but the name was what brought us here in the first place. Huge sticker shock here - everything was cheaper than what we were used to seeing! They also give a very healthy portion of chicken karaage. I liked their black garlicThe ramen wasn't life changing but can you really complain at this price point? Definitely a spot I'd come back.“

“San Francisco, you gotta love that city, what a vibe, every neighborhood has its unique charm. In one of the neighborhoods you will find Shoshin Sushi, a very nice, cozy, authentic, small restaurant. The food is not out of this world but definitely with its own charm. I loved the makis but wasn’t very fond of the carpaccios, the sauce is flat and does not bring out the flavor of the fish much.On the other hand, the makis were all very good, the Naruto is one that you should particularly try, spicy tuna with avocado wrapped in a cucumber sheet with ponzu and olive oil, very refreshing. The place has a nice atmosphere with very friendly people, enjoy ?“

“Was out running errands in the Haight and wanted a quick bite so trusty Google mentioned this place.
So glad it did! It's pretty impressive seeing the girl behind the counter crank out all the orders during lunch.
Between 2, we ordered a sushi burrito, mini kaisen don and a eel avo roll. Everything was tasty, not the best it could have been presented given how lightening quick is was being made to keep up with all the tickets for orders.
The burrito is so worth it coming with a lot of fish. We even added shrimp tempura so it added to the filling. The Don had plenty of rice, fresh scallop and and ikura. I wish there was a supplement option to add uni but I was full and satisfied. The unagi avo roll was pretty basic and but the flavor was there.
Paid around $70 bucks and opted to eat it there in their small dining area. Great fast option!“

“A bit hard to grab food here if you don’t live in the city since they’re not open weekends and close somewhat early on weekdays - but worth making the trip once to try their katsu sando. We got the sando and the curry as well as a hojicha latte. The sando lived up to the hype for sure but I still found it a bit pricy. The curry and latte were both good but did not stand out like the sando.
The space is quite cute and cozy and there is a counter area that is very welcoming to solo diners and gave off that Japan vibe ?“

“Vegan ramen really? Buts it's soooooooo good. I love the broth richer in flavor then I thought it would be in a good way and the combination of veggies and tofu and whatever meat substitute was.really satisfying. I'm usually the first one to order tonkatsu style but saw alot of orders.for the vegan one and decided to give it a try.and now I'm a convert..I like the thick style noodles good chew.“

“I came by here last week for dinner. I had passed by this restaurant a few times previously while in Japantown, and was excited to be able try it.
The restaurant is pretty small, with about 4-5 few booths, and a similar number of open tables.
Service was pretty good, with servers often coming to check up on us, though we came pretty early, and the restaurant was fairly empty at time.
We ordered a good selection of the skewers, opting to order individual skewers instead of their set option (5 of their popular skewers, soup, and a rice side dish).
Each skewer order only comes with one stick, and the price was a little high, but still reasonable for SF area standards. All the sticks had a great smokey chargrilled flavor, and were cooked well, though a bit too salty for my taste. I also didn't see an option for plain white rice on their menu, though in fairness, I also didn't ask the servers if it was an option.
Overall, it was a nice little find with pretty authentic food, but I do wish it was a little cheaper and lighter on salt
Parking: This location is within the Japan center in Japantown - there is a paid lot and street parking around. I've never seen the paid lot full, but street parking can be quite difficult to find“

“A small casual sushi restaurant on geary. They have a variety of rolls and appetizers. They dont serve bento boxes, but do serve some rice bowls. Service was quick and we noticed a lot of people ordering to go. We ordered edamame, chicken karage, CA roll, SF roll, caterpillar roll, cherry blossom roll, and rainbow roll. Our food came out quickly. The edamame came out hot and topped with salt. The chicken karage was a decent portion for 2 with fairly big pieces and came with spicy mayo sauce. The rolls were fresh and had good amount of fish. The cherry blossom roll was our favorite. We kept our expectations low but we were thoroughly impressed by the food, especially with affordable prices. Highly recommend this place and will be coming again soon.“

“Nestled a few blocks outside of Burlingame's bustling downtown, Hanabi Ramen & Japanese Curry is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. While the surrounding area might be a bit quieter, don't let that fool you - this family-run restaurant is a busy spot for good reason!
Finding parking was a breeze, with options on the main road and in the neighborhood. However, be prepared for a potential wait, as the restaurant itself is quite small and offers limited seating. They don't have online reservations, so it's a first-come, first-served situation. We waited about 10 minutes, but the friendly staff kept us updated, and the wait was definitely worth it.
The service was fantastic throughout our entire meal. Attentive and helpful, the staff made us feel right at home. We started by sharing a plate of chicken skewers – a delicious appetizer! The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, but the sauce was a tad heavy for my taste. Still, it was a great way to kick off the meal.
For the main course, I opted for the tonkotsu ramen with a soft-boiled egg (be sure to add this – it's not included by default!). The wait for the ramen was around 15 minutes, but let me tell you, that first slurp was pure bliss. While the broth wasn't the creamiest I've ever had, it was still rich and flavorful. The real star of the show, however, was the chashu pork. Perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender, the sweet meat was beautifully enhanced by a touch of salty seasoning. The noodles were cooked to a perfect doneness, soft and springy with a delightful flavor.
Overall, Hanabi Ramen & Japanese Curry is a fantastic spot for a delicious Japanese dining experience. The wait and slightly limited seating might deter some, but the friendly service, flavorful food, and perfectly cooked ramen make it absolutely worth it!“

“We celebrated our 15 year anniversary here, and had a wonderful experience! Each course was well explained to us, and everything was beautifully presented and delicious. It would have been nice if they gave us some chocolates or sweets after the one dessert course, but they didn't give us anything extra. I think it would have been a nice touch, considering how much the degustation set costs. Wine list was pretty good too, although a little limited. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal.“

“Ordered sushi and a salmon donburi here, it was delicious and the fish was excellent quality. The owner was very sweet and you could tell he put a ton of consideration into preparing the dishes. “Super good! For 31 bucks, you get 8 pieces of high quality nigiri + 6 pieces of maki. My maki had fatty tuna and was really goodI also tried the agedashi tofu and chicken karage. Both were great, I really liked how crispy the tofu was (sometimes it gets too soggy at other places)The server and chef were really nice, and even gave us a free crepe cake slice on the houseI think it’s new, so not very crowded yet, so don’t worry about a long line or anythingLastly, I love how they have One Piece decor all over the place“
