“My wife and I eat at Ciccia’s regularly but this is our first review after 4 years. Sorry Francesca and Mario! (In my defense I practically never ever write a review.) We keep coming back for the food, ambiance and hospitality. **We’ve gone 3 times in the last week! The crab gnocchi is my wife’s favorite. I get something different almost every time. Every visit I ask Mario about the specials as I like to sample the beef and/or fish (Branzino!) they prepare in addition to pasta. Try the Tomahawk steak if it’s a special that day (call ahead) and you will be amazed. Too many times we fill up on appetizers like mushroom flan, breaded zucchini, calamari, antipasto, and the choices go on! But that’s what to-go containers are for. So much good food to eat at Ciccias we tend to order too many things. It is simply fun to dine there. Once you’re inside the restaurant area (patio area or indoor area) the ambiance is quaint and cozy. Ciccia’s is not big and it’s always filled, but we never feel like it’s too crowded. The energy is always fun and upbeat. Which makes people stay awhile, so let me recommend getting reservations. We’ve had to wait 10-15 minutes but nothing’s perfect! If you want a breezy quick dinner before going off to an event you may want to go to Ciccia’s on another night. Hospitality is what you would expect of a small Italian restaurant run by the owners. Terrific!! If it’s your first time, read their story on the website before you go. They are bona fide top chefs who followed their dreams to open their own place. What a gem it is tucked inside Barrio Logan. One thing regulars may notice is that staff doesn’t appear to turn over much as I’ve seen the same faces working there for years. I think that reflects well on the restaurant. I don’t take pictures of food very often but last night I did. We stopped by at around 9 just to get dessert and a cocktail. My wife had the ricotta cake with apricot and habanero sauce (wow!) and I had cassata siciliana which is traditional cake from Sicily. Pretty to look at and yes, it’s delicious. They do a good job with making an Old Fashioned, which always pairs well with dessert 😜 Buon appetito!“

“I recently visited a new restaurant and was impressed with the excellent service provided by the attentive staff. They had an extensive menu with a lot of food options that I wasn't familiar with. After some consideration, I decided to try the beef noodle soup and JCK pork dumplings, and I was delighted to find that they were delicious. “This is The best coffee I've ever had. I've been drinking coffee for years and can be a little bit of coffee snob sometimes. The moment I tasted their "Daily Rations" on my tongue, I could easily say that is The Finest cold brew I've had. It's very aromatic and exudes a strong bourbon smell, also very smooth and gentle on your tongue with a little creamy texture. The barista there also let me try other flavors, and each all tasted so good in its own way. I will definitely come back for their cold brew again“

“This is my second time coming in with my family. Again, we loved how clean and spaced out the place was. The food was delicious as last time! This time the crab fried rice was not so salty. I appreciate how there is actual crab in the food and makes the flavors more vibrant. We ordered drunken noodles, chicken pad Thai, crab wonton, yellow curry. I tried some new things such as the crab wonton and it's about 5 pieces. In terms of service, I noticed that our server did so much for the restaurant. She took phone call orders, managed take out service, and served tables all at the same time. She mentioned that her restaurant is still new but she did so well multitasking. She was very humble. She did her best to take care of us and was so sweet about not wanting to accept my tip even though she basically managed the place entirely. She mentioned how her staff deserved all the money and I was insistent that she take it too! She may not have been able to take care of us the whole time, but she was always generous about giving us utensils and even listened and conversed with us when she had a million things to do. I hope this business stays for a long time (forever hopefully) knowing that there are good people like her managing this place. Just a suggestion to Palm Thai Cafe: maybe have utensils and napkins out so customers can grab as much as they need! Might help take a load off your busy plate. Thanks again! See you all soon.“

Sebastian was working and was very helpful in helping me decide what drink to try.Picked up a Midnight Vietnamese (hot) + a empanada (bacon and egg) both were delicious! I love the functional lattes. “I walked in here on my birthday on my way to the zoo, but when I walked in the aroma of the food ? made me sit down on the spot. Once I looked at the menu and seen shaken beef it was over for me AND they have Mexican Coke too!!! One of the nice ladies recommended their wings and asked if I liked spice I said yes and she took care of it from there. I also noticed they have blended Vietnamese coffee ?so that actually has been keeping me coming back at least once a week. Now I just call my order ahead when I leave work from the Scripps Ranch area and swing by and pick it up on my way home.“

“I walked in here after receiving a recommendation by one of my customers in the area. I was a little absent minded upon walking in and noticing that this was a cash only establishment. I asked the nice lady at the register if it indeed was cash only just in case they could take apple pay or some other means of payment, but it truly was cash only. Not wanting to waste time I asked if there was an ATM in the area, so that I could ensure I could come back to pay. But the lady refused to let me leave, saying she would not let me go out that door hungry and told me to simply pay upon my next time in the area. I protested, telling her I live on the other side of the county and rarely come to the south county. Still she stood by her offer and told me to order.I thanked her and tried to order a small half deli ham sandwich and she told me to go big and suggested their specialty sandwich the Man-Eater. I thanked her again so much and enjoyed every bite of my food. I will ensure I come back as soon as possible to pay this deserving business back for their kindness and order much more delicious food. “I love me some Bacon Wrap Hotdogs from the street vendors after a UCLA football game walking back to our car. I found an elevated hot dog place in Las Vegas downtown - Dirt Dogs! So this is my comparison. Barrio Dogs are 5 stars for the dogs. The street corn 2-3 Stars. The Drinks 5 stars!!! We had just eaten at Salud down the block and walked by and saw and smelled their food. Decided to give it a try hoping it would be as good as Dirt Dogs and for the Dogs it was. We shared the TJ Style dog w bacon, Street Corn, and a Mango Marg. The dog was legit! Very tasty dog and flavorful w the added bacon. Elevated Street Dog, reminds of the carts at an UCLA game. Street Corn not so good. Canned corn w no char. A foamy mayo on top. Below average and I don't recommend it. Too many good street corn out there. The Mango marg rimmed w Chamoy/Tajin with pieces are dried spicy mango on top. Very good drink. There are many Dogs that look amazing and we want to try them. We will be back soon, but next time on am empty stomach and ready for a couple dogs and drinks.“

“Many have enjoyed the pasta, pizza and salad at Buona Forchetta. My review is on their brunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. It’s not well known that they are offering one of the best brunches in Coronado. We had the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious with one of the best hollandaise sauces I’ve ever had. The homemade English muffin and all of the ingredients were top notch. The restaurant was empty on a Friday morning so I think it’s time that the word got out that just a short walk from Orange Avenue, there is an outstanding brunch with a varied innovative menu! “We are regular visitors of Imperial Beach but have not tried Siam Imperial Thai kitchen. I’m not sure why we waited so long. The order was prepared promptly and was ready at the pick up time quoted. We went fairly basic with our order but were not disappointed. The chicken satay skewers were cooked to perfection and were tender and delicious. We had an order of the yellow curry chicken, which was full flavor and the spice was on point. The speciality combo included a tasty spring roll, light and flaky tempura shrimp, two wontons and a choice of soup or salad. We opted for the coconut soup, and it was absolutely amazing. The coconut flavor mixed with a little bit of spice and saltiness tickled the palette and left us very satisfied. From now on every trip to IB will include at least one meal at Siam Imperial Thai kitchen.“

Standouts included the octopus and several of the potato dishes. Misses included the oysters (too small) and scallops (small portion, salty, and overcooked). Be sure to order the lamb on the rare side - I ordered MR and it came out M+. They were out of the 1st two wines we ordered, and the wine list wasn't extensive. My biggest gripe was no horseradish. They have a long list of coffee beans, along with roasting dates and a little backstory on the production of the coffee beans itself. They even sell 5lb bottles of coffee beans. Their prices are reasonable compared to other roasters in SD.Parking: They have only a handful of parking spots inside but there is a good amount of street parking.“
