“great service! delicious, authentic Oaxacan food. We will go back!”
“Amazing! That’s all that needs to be said. See you next visit!”
“Absolutely delicious, we cleaned our plates ☺️ we got the chicken and beef brisket plates and they were both fresh and perfectly balanced. The pomegranate matcha latte was excellent as well.
ETA: the food was so good we also got a shawarma wrap to share. It was SO good; I usually hate dill but these chefs are such experts that it actually complemented the flavors of the wrap and I found myself enjoying the flavor of dill for the first time in my life 😆”
“This restaurant is amazing. Definitely worth visiting. Small and romantic. And the food..... Fantastic. I visited from out of town, had a late lunch. This is a place worth going to. The staff is warm and welcoming. I would definitely come back.”

“I love LOVE my bimonthly subscription to flowers from Flower Bar! They make such beautiful and elegant arrangements that are seasonally deliberate and make me feel so happy every time I see them!”
“Small but wonderful little sushi place! Place looks unassuming and like a standard sushi joint but you have to try their Peruvian style sashimi! Each piece of fish has its own unique sauce and it was all really delicious. The orange sauce which was also on some rolls is so bright and delicious!
Staff was super sweet and service was fast.
Definitely worth trying!”

“A delicious and somewhat tucked away spot.
I always drive by good dogs on my way to and from my job. It closes right when I get off. I had the time to go today and it was well worth the visit.
The dogs are delicious the airstream trailer is adorable and he's both polite, willing to chat, and fast.
If you want to stop by there is only one parking spot. I'd recommend parking by Santa Cruz tire and auto and walking over. There is some good seating.
I'm definitely going back and bring my friend and coworkers along.”

“This is my favorite booth at SAP when I go to Sharks games. You can see the arepas being grilled fresh and the fillings are so flavorful. The owners are very welcoming. I’m looking forward to the opening of their San Jose location since I haven’t been able to make it to Santa Cruz.”
“Delicious and fast service. Coffee wasn't the best but the free refills were great.
The real standout was the Sourdough pancakes. I got them with seasonal fruit and whipped cream (bananas and walnuts this week) and splurged on real maple syrup. Super delicious and reasonably priced.”
“Went here this morning for brunch and coffee. Food and coffee were very good (cubano was my favorite!). The service was a bit slow but it was quite busy and the young woman behind the counter was working all by herself. She was working hard to take orders, make drinks, and all the food! I wanted to give her a shout out for her hard work today! Overall, I would still go here again.”
“Good, solid restaurant. Service was good. Food was overall good. Soup however was too salty. Asked for quiet table during reservation process and got one. Happy Hour from 4-5pm. Very busy and well organized staff. Will eat there again.”
Outdoor Dining
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely café by a stunning rocky beach!
We were lucky — there was a surfing competition that day, which made the visit even more special. The café has a calm, pleasant atmosphere with a mix of people: some working quietly with laptops and headphones, others chatting in pairs or families with kids. The coffee is real and high-quality ☕️, and I highly recommend the cheese croissant – flaky and rich with perfect layers – and the almond croissant, just as delicious. Orders are placed at the counter, and the cashier was especially sweet”
“The food, beer and the environment are all excellent! If you want a great neighborhood vibe and no wait time, this is your spot. Chef Jeremy does a crust in the pizza you don’t wanna miss!”
“Food was SO GOOD! Fresh and delicious. The tables were very clean. Cafeteria style eating- not fancy. But GOOD.
I didnt understand how it worked, so let me help you ha!
You go to the little salad bar looking area and you get to fill 2 bowls. Fill those babies. When you get to the sauce you can ask a worker to mix the one you want for you. There's a little sign but he told us he would do it. Then you take it to the cook and watch it being cooked (keep your eyeballs peeled because no one is going to call you).
You get soft serve ice cream and soups and wonton included. Look around the little areas to see what they have. You pay at the end and can tip there.”
“Even though there is a Mad Yolks is San Jose I took drive to Santa Cruz to try it out. There was plenty of metered parking nearby. About 20 people waiting for food or in line to place order. Even with the crown the team there cranked out 3 to 5 orders every few minutes. A good performance from the staff. I ordered the Mad Chick to go. It was about $19 with tip just for that. No beverage. Inside tables were all full so I took it outside and ate it leaning against my old VW. It was fantastic! Great flavors and textures. Large portions and the chicken was very crispy and loaded with flavor. A little gooey and dripping while biting bet that made it even better. I recommend it. Im going to the San Jose location next to try the tots and a standard egg sando.”

“Holy moly, this Detroit style pizza is incredible! The crust is insanely delicious. Two vegan cheeses & edible flowers & absolutely the freshest of toppings! My new local favorite pizza!”

“My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Try the complex and delicious pureed/smooth sauces: one is red (a bit spicy) and one is light green (the tiniest bit spicy). I bought a half pint of the light green avocado sauce to take home. It goes with everything- from my roast chicken to a pot of black beans.”
“Awesome tasting here! Recommend sitting at the bar, John was really great to chat with and really passionate about his wines. Came on a Wednesday when the market was on right outside and he was cool with me bringing oysters in. Such a fun space, full of personality, so would be nice for a glass or a catch up as well. 10/10 experience :)”
“Excellent wines, excellent staff, always a pleasure to come to MJA. Marin, John, Ford, all the folks always take the time to really talk about what they are pouring in a way that is unpretentious and always educational. I love the nicknames - Hotflash, Still Horny - the sense of humor and the Aloha spirit is everywhere. These folks work really hard to create an excellent product and an excellent experience. Movie nights are super fun, often there is live music, and we always meet the most interesting and intelligent people. Their tasting room on the summit also rocks!”
“The food was delicious! I couldn't stop eating. Had the shortrib ravioli - amazing. It was our first time eating there. We live near La Placa Bakery in Ben Lomond and a friend recommended that we try the food at Bedda Mia. Well worth the trip.”

“We only started eating at McDonalds about a year ago when we were traveling. Over that time, one of the things we have noticed is the food is fairly consistent in quality and taste. So, what sets one McDonalds apart from another one? The customer service!
We found the employees here, to be very nice! At a lot of McDonalds, they try to avoid taking your order and point you to a kiosk. Not at this one! When we walked in, there was someone who came over to the register and asked us what we would like. Quite refreshing!
Also, they were really busy, and the empty tables were dirty. So, we went over and asked for a towel to clean one, and the employee (we think the manager) came right over and cleaned it for us. They also went and cleaned others tables after ours, which we didn't expect.
Overall, the food is what you would expect from a McDonalds, but the service is great”
“Usual food. They don't have a drive thru, and the inside is very small. Stood at counter waiting to be helped for 5-10 minutes, getting looked at by many employees, before someone finally came to take my order. Stood at counter cause there was a big line for the kiosk. Food served relatively quickly. Lady who took order was nice.”
“The staff is amazing! The food is amazingly fresh and flavorful. Hands down this Restaurant was a huge highlight of our vacation. Thank you for an awesome dinner, and making us feel right at home!”
Takeout Restaurants
“I really enjoyed this place. as a long time strict vegan, they answered questions kindly, and in ways I felt good to eat here. I had a lovely little chop salad, that really hit right as I was in need of vegetables.😄Followed it up with Tom’s Bright Eyes Surprise that was nice.”
“Delicious food, kind servers, true authentic Mexican food. No hassle, no frills - so far, I've had the Siete Mares and Pescado Fritos and both were the best I've tasted in all of Santa Cruz County. I got my order as To Go so the atmosphere I didn't really get into but there were people there enjoying their food and sports on TV. A nice surprise.”
“I live around the corner from here and like to recommend this spot to friends whenever they're visiting my neighborhood. The vibes are great.
There is a bartender named Mayonnaise and she's the coolest person in the world.”
“The food, beer and the environment are all excellent! If you want a great neighborhood vibe and no wait time, this is your spot. Chef Jeremy does a crust in the pizza you don’t wanna miss!”
“Best BBQ in Santa Cruz. Craft Beers and Live Music. Friendly staff.”

“I don’t understand how an amazing coffee shop can, at there discretion, close there coffee shop at any time they want? Why would u treat loyal customers this way. Sometimes posted in Instagram, sometimes not. So inconsiderate of daily customers. Very disappointing to walk all the way there, excited for my greeting from the staff and my great latte, only to find a note on the door, closed at 11:30? How can u feel good about people showing up and not open and it isn’t even close to 3:00? Confusing to me how everything else but this one issue can be perfect?”
“This is always my goto coffee shop when in Santa Cruz. The Americano (or any other coffee we get) is always on point. The bagels... Ohhhhh the bagels. You have to try for yourself but they are always fresh and amazing. Go check it out! You will not regret it.”
“Great coffee, friendly environment with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, Wi-Fi, and a nice environment to study or chat. Part of the nearby church but you don't have to worry about it being uncomfortable in some way because of that, they seem to do a good job of being very welcoming and chill. This spot has an abundance of space which is very nice. The food I tried was nice too but I only had a little bite so I can't review that too.”
“We were there for a music event late Jan 2025. HH drink specials were tasty but was disappointed on how cold it was inside the restaurant. Both doors, front & back, were wide open during the entire evening show (48 degrees outside). Even the band mentioned how cold it was before beginning their set. All the customers wore jackets. Also, the harsh lighting was way too bright throughout the restaurant. I wanted my sunglasses on. Please read the room & tone down the lighting & warm the place up, then we’ll be back. Mahalo”
“This place was bustling when I went and for good reason- so many great options! They have my favorite brand of vegan cream cheese (Tofutti) as well as house made tofu spreads. The New Delhi was especially good, but also liked the tofu Tom and the Tofu del Fuego. Updated from previous review on 2026-01-02”
“Awesome tasting here! Recommend sitting at the bar, John was really great to chat with and really passionate about his wines. “food, fantastic, service, fantastic, quality, fantastic, you need to experience this place to truly understand how great this place is. thanks Alfredo!!!!”

“I was on a lunch break from work today, my route was in Santa Cruz and asked google for the nearest Taco Spot. It recommended me this place. Very nice corner spot and great seating area. I ordered 1 Al Pastor taco and 1 asada quesadilla just to try out the food quality. Honestly the meat was absolutely delicious!!!! Their meat is very well seasoned and the tortilla for my taco is made by hand or how we say in Spanish “Tortillas hechas a mano.” Absolutely fire 🔥 Told the owner “Memo” that his food was absolutely delicious 🤤 and definitely coming back for more when I’m in the area next time! Definitely worth the money if you want quality tacos & burritos, and no more
Taco Bell for me 🙅♂️ hahahaha”
“Ive been working in restaurant as for about 4 years. Cafe Brasil is one of the best brunch/breakfast I’ve ever had! The place is a beautiful Brazil styled Cafe. I started with one of their green smoothies and it was just what I needed after a long night out. Then I ordered one of their chicken plates and it comes with beans, rice and fries or side salad all at a really reasonable price. Everyrthing was delicious and my Brothers and I loved everything. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good breakfast or smoothie place.”
“My buddy and I spent the day riding Mt Bikes in Santa Cruz. I’m not completely sure where we were riding but it was just above the ocean and we eventually rode past an area growing huge brussell sprouts. And we got to witness another biker crash into a huge puddle so the day was very entertaining. Before driving home we stopped for a bite at Jacks and it’s the perfect local burger joint in Santa Cruz. If I lived here, I’d come to Jacks all the time. The fries are great, the burgers are great and the ambiance is perfect. We sat outside and felt our day could not have gone better.”
“This was honestly the best food truck food I have ever had. I eat healthy all week, but I know when I go to a brewery on a weekend, I’m gonna have to make some compromises! No compromises had to be made for this food, as they had tons of healthy options! But healthy doesn’t always mean delicious, but this place was truly some of the most delicious food I had ever had at a brewery! (Humble Sea beer garden on the Santa Cruz wharf) I'll search out this food truck anytime I'm back in the Santa Cruz area.
Vegetarian options: Absolutely delicious!”
“Awesome spot to hang on a weekend evening! The outdoor area is lively yet cozy—definitely good for groups since the market has several vendor options (pizza, paninis, fried chicken, beer/wine, cocktails, etc.) and it's spacious. There was live music outside when we visited, seems like it's a recurring thing? We got the pizza and it wasn't anything to write home about, but I'd go back again and even get the same pizza just for the good vibes!”
“fine times with questionable friends, the beer flows, music made with craft, excitement guaranteed”
“Great place for mid week date night or to see live music. a Santa Cruz must”
“Love the fish and chips along with a new favorite… chicken pozole soup. Need some radish and cabbage to top it off!”
“We had our wedding after-party at Mission West, with dancing and a DJ on the back patio. It was the best decision we could have possibly made. From our perspective, there were zero flaws. The venue has such outstanding vibes, great ownership and staff who run the bar very well and are a delight to work with. Our friends had the best time and it felt like every idea we had they were able to make happen. We were so stoked to support what they have going on there and have since recommended Mission West to a friend who is also going to have their wedding after party there. The cocktails are also very good! Whether you’re just stopping by for a drink or hosting an event, this place is a gem!”
“This place is by far one of the best I visited. The staff is extremely friendly (specifically Tony) and the food is phenomenal and authentic! Would definitely recommend others to come visit and enjoy the food!”
“Great scone mixes - even my BIL now likes scones! Very fast delivery (I live out of state) for mixes. The Lemon Curd is delicious - on top of scones or licked off of a spoon.”
“Love Hindquarter! Been going for many years mostly for dinner/drinks but am now also loving their delicious lunch specials which change daily. You can enjoy lunch specials until dinner menu starts at 4 pm! Deserts are great and the 3 berry cobbler with vanilla icecream is incredible! Highly recommend!”
“Went here for a date night recently. We should up earlier to our reservation and they were able to accommodate us pretty quickly which was great.
The service was top notch. I believe our server was Brenda and she was excellent. Always checking in on us and being prompt. She was also sure of getting any dietary issues handled.
We had some mocktails and found them delicious.
The calamari is one of my favorites so far in Santa Cruz. Very nicely seasoned and cooked just right, I'd like it to be a little more flaky but the taste was superb. Not tough nor feeling a little on the bland side.
I had the ribeye and while the precise cut wasn't my preferred choice it was delicious. It was cooked perfectly, don't know why so many places can't get Medium right, but the Point executed it perfectly. It was juicy, good bits of fat (wish it had a bit more fat though), and seasoned well. I think it had a really subtle glaze that went perfectly with the arugula. The glaze wasn't overpowering or too sweet, it just enhanced the umami flavored and the arugula was also not too overpowering, so you can actually taste the beef.
My wife had the Salmon and thought it was great. It was a nice big cut and cooked very well.
Overall it was a great experience and great food. Our server, Brenda, was superb and that's something you just can't get anywhere anymore.
We saw in the area with the older style red leather seats and this is the only part that I didn't like too much. The decor just clashed and it felt difficult to get a sense of ambience. I saw the other side has the nicer updated look and I'd probably prefer seating there but I think given the fair prices and the location, I don't think it was that bad.
Overall I'd probably give this place a 4.5, for the update the dining area needs but given the terrific service and delicious well priced food I'd say a 5 is justified.”
“Clean, quiet Laundromat. A bit pricey, but so is everything in Santa Cruz. There is no cafe though, but it's across the street from a great Mex restaurant 😁”
“This place is super fun since they banned smoking! They have darts, pool, shuffleboard, pinball, other activities, friendly people, and the drinks are solid. One of the regulars helped my friends and I change a flat tire in the parking lot 😂 very welcoming crowd!”
“Very personal experience with amazing selection of wine and cider. The building serves both Sones cellars and Tanuki Cider but the owner serving us had great knowledge in both. The owner saw us looking at the menu outside of business hours and invited us in for some Santa Cruz history and delicious tasting. His knowledge and appreciation of cider and wine was superb. It will be a repeat visit when we are in the area and a recommendation for anyone heading this direction.”
“great service and awesome views. happy hour was great, margaritas. the fish and chips were delicious 😋”
“Amazing food. Exquisite taste expertly prepared. The wait staff is so attentive and friendly. Loved everything from start to finish!”
“The funnel cakes at Santa Cruz Boardwalk are a must-try! Super tasty but quite heavy, even one can feel like a lot. There’s usually a long line during peak hours or weekends, and finding a spot to sit and enjoy it can be tough.”
“We stopped in on October 11 during happy hour. Being from Michigan, we did not know what to expect. Our daughter, now an Aptos resident, said this was her favorite place for sushi. We could see why! The flavors and variety of items were excellent. Best of all was our server Isabell. She was great; friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Great food, great service. Thank you.”
“Good Himalayan style food. As a climber and going throughout Nepal, India and Pakistan for 23 years, this place is pretty good.
Cant go wrong w any Curry”
“HIDDEN GEM Best ever! So you HAVE to give this place a try! Alex was our server tonight. She was excellent. Food was amazing. Prices fantastic. Choose over Akira all day long, no wait ... reservations for party larger than 4 but sushi bar is stellar!”
“This was our first time there and the food was great and the atmosphere was great.. also had great service. We will be back again..”
“The sushi was so good the pink Dragon was beautifully decorated and so fresh and so tasty and the atmosphere was beautiful I celebrated a friend's birthday there!”
“Fun semi-industrial vibe. A little pricey for amount of food per dish. Food was excellent but for example, 3 large scallops over cabbage with a nice cauliflower sauce ran about $60. Drinks are well executed however served in small glasses and/or with a lot of ice. Quality is great but quantity of all items purchased left a bit to be desired. Would recommend. We’d go back more often if quantity matched the price a bit closer.”
“Great outdoor atmosphere and Great staff. Fun games and Good Eats. Neighborhood friendly and with the Rail Trail on the side makes it easy to bike or walk to. SALUTE!”
“Delicious jackfruit tacos. Great for vegetarian, vegan. And one of the only places to get gluten free. We asked and the chips are gluten free although I'm not sure about cross contamination but no reaction. Chips and guacamole make a meal though in a pinch”
“Love coming to Haggin Oaks to visit MacKenzie’s for the food. Steak salad is the healthy option for me. Ribeye steak sandwich is also a great choice. My wife always appreciates the wonderful service that Tresa provides. Yes, menu prices are higher, but blame it on Dimensia Joe and our own failure, Gavin Newscum for making it tough for any business to survive in beautiful California.”
“First time in Santa Cruz and at the boardwalk. Wanted to try something a little different so I got the infamous garlic fries which were hella garlicky in a good way, and the shrimp. You get 6 good sized shrimp with lemon wedges. Hit the spot! Freshly made so everything was nice and hot. Not a long wait time.”
“Amazing food and great staff! Their hand made Boba is the best I have ever tasted! Everything tastes very fresh. Does not disappoint. Owners help rescue homeless animals too!”
“Visiting SC from Michigan and came across Suda. Glad we did. Looked like it had a good vibe from the outside so we went in and sat at the bar where we had drinks. What fun! The bartender, Max, was slammed but never stopped smiling. We had fun watching him and talking with him. He knows his drinks! So much fun we came back for dinner another night. Max came over to our table to welcome us back! The drinks and food were really good! We’ll definitely be back next visit to SC. Hopefully, Max, will be there too!”
“We enjoyed the dinner specials recently. Arrived here right before New Years, 12-30. I hade the daily catch and my wife had the steak pasta. Delicious. My fish was petrale sole, mixed vegetables, rice pilaf. Wife’s steak pasta was flavorful and creamy. We sat at the bar so service wasn’t the best but still attentive. Will return tomorrow. HAPPY NEW YEAR”
“I wrote a detailed review on 831 Best and Worst Facebook page and this was definitely the BEST category ! Cannot go wrong IMO !”
“Food is honestly delicious, a lot better than expected. The tacos are great, they hit the spot right after bowling. Took a little while but it was only 1 hard working man! He had great energy and provided great customer service. Would definitely come again!”
“The food was outstanding, we had the one of the daily specials and our server was very friendly.”
“Dogs welcome outside to eat. Service dogs can go inside. Very good food and very friendly staff. Live sports inside and outside.”
“Love this place. Cocktails and nachos at the bar with friends last night. I hadn’t been there in a while, great to see all the same people working there. Great local place.”
“It's good, pretty average as far as the UCSC dining halls go. It does stink like sewage outside, which is off putting.
Vegetarian options: Same as everywhere else on campus. Clearly labeled options.”
“Very fresh sushi and for the price it's very good! Definitely recommend coming in”
“Amazing food! Friendly service! You’ve got to see the Waterfall at the bar on Friday and Saturday evenings. Sake bombs for everyone!”
“My wife and I started dining at Solaire restaurant located in the Paradox hotel in Santa Cruz, California from its original opening in 2012. I gave a 5 star review back then. At first, we were very pleased with the high-quality of the food and the service. However in later years both deteriorated and we stopped dining there over two years ago. Yesterday, we were looking for a restaurant that we hadn't been for a while and decided to check out this restaurant at the hotel after looking at the new menu. It seemed to be completely revamped and had lots of choices. So, we ate dinner there. The lobby and the restaurant were completely renovated with a whole new look. The restaurant had inside and outside sections. The outside section was mostly indoors with the pool side area completely open to the outside. It had infrared ceiling heaters. Very nice. We chose to eat on the inside, where the tables were on both sides of a new large center bar which also juts in to the outside area. We found the food to be excellent and at somewhat reasonable prices in comparison to the old Solaire restaurant. My wife had the tomato basil bisque, and I had the French onion soup. My wife loved the bisque and I thought the onion soup was very good. It had loads of cheese and the onions and had a delicious flavor - not too salty. For our courses, my wife ordered the fresh catch with risotto. The catch was miso black cod , and the risotto had mushrooms and other veggies. She loved it! I had the flat iron steak with fries and herb butter. It was very tender and delicious. The service was outstanding. Our server, whose name is Shirlyn, was terrific! She was very knowledgeable of the dishes and guided us to the ones that we chose. She was pleasant, efficient and had a very positive attitude. The food was served in a prompt manner. And we were attended with water, drinks, and whatever we ask for quickly.”
“We came here to eat breakfast and had the seafood omelette. The portions are massive and you can split one meal for 2. The food is good but not the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is pretty nostalgic and the workers are super friendly. I don’t think I’ve had better service anywhere else.”
“We had an outdoor experience (breakfast-enjoyed the steak and eggs and hamburger with truffle fries). The sun is out the day enjoyed a couple of drinks. The service was nice, but there were a couple misses such as drinks not being delivered or not being refilled. We were able to stay until the mid afternoon and enjoy a wonderful view.”

“Nina ROCKS!!! We wandered in on a whim and she did not disappoint! This place is the best little dive/ hip spot but you’d never imagine just walking by. The atmosphere is chill and fun, she made us feel completely welcome and we met some of the regulars. She turned the whole place into a Karaoke party and the whole bar got into the vibe. We ended up staying until the next shift came on and late into the night. These guys and gals really know how to show you a good time. The cocktails were great and the prices were really decent. We will definitely be back!”

“So because of one employee the tall blond with long hair seams to think he's going to decide who gets to buy herb, I had left a review about this guy's discriminating and attacked me. The manager talked to me and she is punishing the crap employee for his unprofessional attitude so I'll give you 5 star just for addressing the problem. He should of been fired since he does it to everyone and coworkers say he does these things to them too. But everyone deserves a chance, he treats me again like that and I'm not giving a review I'm going to my attorney. Thank you management, it no good have one person making a nice dispensary look like crap.”
“I live around the corner from Garden Deli, where Reuben's Taco Truck is located {except when he has a catering an event}. I ignored it for a couple months, thinking the food would be marginal at best. Then I was feeling lazy, so walked over and got dinner, expecting to be underwhelmed. OMG!! I was so effing wrong. Their food is So Fricking Good that I've gotten dinner there almost once a week ever since!!”

“I actually have good judgement and taste and love to go around actually giving good reviews on establishments that deserve a good review . When I had tasted the Oreo flavor , i was able to distinguish the exact taste that Michoacana , the streets, vendor ice cream that I have tasted as a child only . I knew instantly I had to get myself some . Only saddens my heart to say that I’ll only be able to enjoy that exact flavor only when I visit Santa Cruz but most definitely will stop by here every time before leaving . I am writing this review after my birthday & I still can’t stop thinking about that rich flavor that brought a little bit of home from Mexico to my mouth . The gentleman was very nice and very sweet. Go support this amazing place because the ice cream is no doubt will worth a tasty snack . The 5 stars doesn’t not deny on this one .”
