“The restaurant has a really fun vibe, we enjoyed the tacos, drinks and chips and salsa. Service was exceptional. The creamy tomato spaghetti in the kids menu was a surprising option considering it’s a Mexican place but it was really comforting and we enjoyed it as well.

The only disappointing part was Flan which was hard and overcooked and the prices being on the higher side for what we got. But it’s a fun place and we’ll be back for the food we enjoyed!”

Grill Kebabs and Gyros 385 Grand Ave, South San Francisco Mediterranean • $

“Ever thought of trying a local small business, family restaurant. The guy who runs this place came from Turkiye in 2008. Settled down in SFO, had a family and is living an American dream.
His only complaint is SFO is expensive. Well we can all agree to that.
Food is very tasty.
We tried falafel wrap, chicken gyro and kids gyro with rice. All of these were of great quality. Plus the Turkish delight was fabulous. Owner shared Turkish tea on the house. Plus I ordered fries in kids meal but it came with rice instead. No worries he added fries and refused to take money for it. Well I made it up in the tip.
If you are south SFO and crave Mediterranean food. This is the place.”

They got my sandwiches very quick. The ambiance was nice and modern with plenty of seating. Service was nice and helpful. It’s a little more than what I’m use to for a Banh Mi Sandwich, but I have to take into consideration the neighborhood I’m purchasing it from. I’ll definitely come back.”

“Place was not that busy on a Memorial Day Monday, so I was able to order my food right away and the food was not that expensive. Worker who took my order was very nice. Food came out quick. Got a Carne Asada taco that was delicious. Didn’t even take a picture because it jumped in my belly. Burrito was decent, good flavor but I wish they put more meat in it. It was packed, but I found myself trying to conserve the meat to make it last for other bites. Salsa bar was cool with the huge selection to choose from. Other than that, I would come back and definitely order more tacos.”

Taqueria Celaya 608 Linden Ave, South San Francisco Mexican • $

“Living just two blocks away, I made it a weekly ritual to dine here, and it remains my absolute favorite spot for street tacos. While I miss the salsa bar, a casualty of the pandemic, it was heartening to find the tacos tasting just as delicious as they did six years ago during my recent work trip. It's reassuring to see that this gem is still thriving.”

Little Saigon 7 Linden Ave, South San Francisco Vietnamese • $

“The pho, noticeably fragrant. 20 hours of simmering evident in the deepness of taste, buttery from the marrow drawn from bones. Clean and translucent broth, an indicator of quality. The wait time, a result of perfectly boiled-to-order rice noodles. What’s missing in decor is over-compensated by taste. Come for a rare-find bowl of solid noodle soup — no frills, but very simply delicious.”

“I've been staying and working in South San Francisco this week without a car. Have dined there for lunch 2 days in a row now, and both days I also brought back dinner to my hotel for the evening. Everything has been delicious with fresh ingredients. Really creative and elevated offerings for a quick service restaurant. The salmon was especially amazing! I had 2 really dismal experiences earlier in the week with Doordash and only wish I had tried Foundry & Lux sooner. I'll be back tomorrow before heading back home on Saturday 😀”

IHOP 316 S Airport Blvd, South San Francisco Breakfast • $

“I can’t say enough on how much my teen daughter loves coming to this iHop, when I have to work in this area. My first experience here at this iHop was about a year ago and I swore I would never come back due to a very rude waitress who was so dismissive and gross (rolling her eyes, speaking over me when I would speak, dirty flatware and never came back to check in on us).

But that all changed when I had a late working meeting and my daughter wanted breakfast food so I said “well let’s try this iHop again because it’s open late.” Well I’m glad we did. This time we had an amazing waitress by the name of Patricia or Patty I believe. She was so amazing and friendly. She made my daughter laugh and smile which was amazing because my daughter was having a bad day. This woman really left an impression on my kid and that meant the world to me more than she knows. The food is so so and the dining atmosphere is pretty nice. Again thanks for the great customer service Patty and we will come back again due to you turning our experience around into a great one.🤗”

Starbird Chicken 988 El Camino Real, South San Francisco Chicken • $

“I’ve always wanted to come to a Starbird and today’s finally the chance to visit.

🍔Food: I got their new Indian Hotbird chicken sandwich. I can give it a 9/10. The sauces balance each other out w/o having 1 dominating the rest in terms of flavors. Spiciness level is about 6/10 on a general scale. The raita in it (yogurt-based sauce) and the cucumber let the fried chicken taste without too overpowering. The bun is also pretty good. The only downside is that the chicken is not fresh-out-of-fryer temperature and not as ‘authentic’ or moist as a Popeye’s, but the overall dining experience far outweighs the competitors.

🌽Elote corn side: highly recommend. Again very fresh & balances out the grease from the fried chicken.

Environment: Waayyy better than those regular fast food chains. Very bright & uplifting with ample lighting and light music.

🅿️Parking: parking can bit a bit tricky. Basically you need to stick close to the apartment building and drive into the parking lot whenever possible to avoid going over.

Would definitely come again whenever I have a chance to try out their salad/fries and more!”

Taqueria Nochistlan 303 Linden Ave, South San Francisco Mexican • $

“This place was the real deal! My coworker asked if I wanted some food, I said yes because you can not pass up on food. He mentioned this place has good Mexican food and told me to check out the menu before he processes the order. At the moment I was not too hungry and just went with tacos, carne asada, carnitas and pollo. My coworker went to pick it up, and I started to get hungrier. Finally he arrived back at work with our goods. The tacos was authentic, packed with meat and one of the best tacos I have had. The sad part is, I wished I ordered more for myself because it was so damn good and it barely filled me up. I highly recommend this place to all taco enthusiasts, for a quick bite or if you are looking for a late night spot that serves great food. I definitely will be back to tryout their other delicious options they have to offer!”

“FOR DRIVERS. This place is tight but very doable. Come in from north so building is on right. Long trucks will not have enough room to get the truck straight with the trailer on the dock. Your truck will be at a 45 to the trailer on the dock. Once unloaded, pull forward and setup for a straight back to get out of the lot and sight side back onto the street. The dock worker will be happy to block traffic and guide you out. I'd be happy to deliver here again.”

Flavas Jamaican Grill 314 Linden Ave, South San Francisco Jamaican • $

“Flavas Jamaican Grill is a true hidden gem in South San Francisco, conveniently located near the airport and hotels. While the restaurant is small, and parking can be a challenge (you might need to park down the street), the food more than makes up for any inconvenience. I highly recommend ordering ahead, especially during the evening, as the space can get crowded with customers and delivery drivers. If you're dining with a family, the limited seating may not be the most comfortable, but the incredible food makes it worth it. The jerk salmon is the star of the menu perfectly cooked with a smoky, tangy heat that melts in your mouth. It's hands down the best salmon I’ve ever had, with flavors that are bold yet perfectly balanced. The jerk chicken is also a standout, and the sides like dirty rice and plantains are the perfect complements, creating a delicious harmony of flavors. If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss out on the oxtail or the wings both are packed with rich, authentic flavor. Pair your meal with one of their imported Jamaican sodas or a ginger beer for a truly immersive experience. As someone from Fresno, where Jamaican food is nonexistent, Flavas has been my first and only Jamaican food experience and it has set the bar incredibly high. The flavors are vibrant and comforting, giving you a true taste of Jamaica. Other patrons rave about their curry goat and daily specials, which I plan to try on my next visit. Whether you’re a local or passing through South San Francisco, Flavas Jamaican Grill is a must visit for anyone craving bold, authentic flavors. Just be sure to plan ahead for seating and parking, and prepare to be wowed by the food! Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 (due to limited seating and busy atmosphere) Atmosphere: 4/5”

“I’m a huge fan of dirty chai lattes and I’m always searching for who has the best. The dirty chai at Antigua is definitely near the top of the list for me. Not too sweet and not too spicy which is the way I like them. Will def be back for the chai. Pastries were also delicious. Haven’t tried the food yet but looks like it would be amazing.”
