“The place was clean and well kept. The server was friendly, attentive, service with a smile. The food was fantastic. We were a group of 7. Everyone loved their dish. My only gripe was that everything was very slow. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry. It was not the fault of the staff. Management needs more people. It took a long time for the overwhelmed server to get to us. There were a lot of customers and only one person taking orders and bringing food out. And there was only one cook. Then it took a long time to get our food.“
“Omg, i don't care where you've had asada fries from because this place is hands down another level of flavor. It's my first time here and I had the lomo saltado fries and an Inca cola and i have nothing but great things to say about the flavors that are throughout the whole plate, the steak in the fries was super high quality and tender as can be. 10 out 0f 10 for this place. You must try.“
“Thai place is around me house so I have been here plenty of times and is about time for a review, great location plenty of parking and amazing food my favorite is the "picante de mariscos" with a inka cola, great service and reasonable prices give them a try“
“Came with friend, a peruana, and we both enjoyed the food. We ordered (for share) papa huancaina, sopa de gallina, arroz con leche and chicha morada for me. All delicious, excellent and attentive service with reasonable price. Will come again and try other items!“
“Came here for the first time and really enjoyed it. I didn't try any of the Peruvian dishes, but we tried the octopus sushi, grilled octopus, tiradito sampler, one of the specialty rolls and everything was nice. The dining area is clean and roomy, and the staff was nice.Definitely coming back again.“
“Best chicken I had in OC!! Hands down best chicken meal! The price is pre covid pricing too. We fed our family of 6 with the whole chicken with salad and steamed veggie sides. We also ordered size of fried rice and pesto spaghetti. We had enough left over for dinner! Also their green sauce is amazing!!! Def. Coming back here!! Also they have happy hour pricing tues.~fri.“
“I was in the area and had to stop at a 7-11 because I was thirsty. Then I was like hmm.. I'm hungry too. I remember walking right pass this place. It smelled bomb. So I walk back and saw Peruvian food on the window. Then I said why not try it out. Man.... When I took a bite my mouth watered. Mmm sooo bomb I had thelomo saltado. Till this day I can't stop thinking about it.“
“The first time here and the service was great, friendly, and accommodated a large group.I ordered the Lomo Saltado Beef, which is very tasty. The ceviche de pescado (picante) was delicious, I also ordered the Papa ala Huancaina. Everything was delicious. I recommend going to this small hidden gem.Vegetarian options: There are several options for vegetarians, I wouldn't really recommend it for vegans as several of the dishes will have some kind of cheese base in the sauce or dish.“
“Ordered 2 whole chickens with 4 sides and a large salad with ranch. Tortillas included. Asked for all the salsas, which is 3 different types. Each chicken was cut and put in a container. We got two large rice, 1 beans and 1 coleslaw. Overall, the chicken was tasty and juicy. Btw, you can see the chicken being roasted via wood logs and not gas burners, which added flavor. The rice, beans, and tortillas were on point. The salsas were good. I never got to the salad, but it was your standard iceberg lettuce. All that fed 5 adults and 4 kids with leftovers. I recommend giving this place a try. I will be back when I have a rotisserie chicken kick and need to feed the entire family for well under a Ben.“
“Mr. Pollo Peruvian Chicken in Covina, California, offers an authentic taste of Peru through its flavorful and delicious dishes. Nestled in the heart of Covina, this restaurant is a hidden gem for Peruvian cuisine enthusiasts and those seeking a memorable dining experience. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, marinated with flavorful herbs and spices, resulting in tender, succulent meat bursting with flavor. Accompanying sides like golden, crispy fries and zesty sauces complement the chicken perfectly, elevating the entire meal. The restaurant's ambiance is cozy and welcoming, providing a relaxed setting for guests to enjoy their meal. The staff members are known for their warmth and attentiveness, ensuring a pleasant dining encounter.Mr. Pollo's affordability is another highlight, offering generous portions of authentic Peruvian cuisine at reasonable prices, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors. However, due to its popularity and limited seating, especially during peak hours, securing a table might require a short wait.Overall, Mr. Pollo Peruvian Chicken in Covina stands out for its delectable rotisserie chicken, authentic flavors, and excellent value for money, creating an inviting atmosphere for anyone craving a taste of Peru in the heart of California.“
“I grew up nearby and I have never been and now I regret not finding this place sooner!! I found this spot on Yelp. THANK YOU YELP!! It's soooooo good. We were looking for a restaurant that was sort of in the middle of us and friends in Whittier. And I am incredibly glad we find it. Their food is really good. The restaurant had tons of seating and I love the decor, and the staff is so nice! I ordered the lomo saltado, my husband ordered the aji de gallina and our friend ordered the chaufa marisco. We were all so happy with our meals!! And A+ for a kids menu! I cannot wait to go back the next time I am in town.“
“I ordered the rotisserie Peruvian chicken. It was seasoned to perfection. It comes with a large salad and french fries. The chicken is five out of five stars and the salad is fresh. The fries poorly seasoned and taste fresh out of the freezer and a true disappointment. I have ordered take out four times and I am very surprised the place very clean , a bit run down, but near empty. I believe the $27 rotisserie chicken dinner special is over priced for the local market.“
“This place was GREAT. First time here and loved the Lomo Saltado. Not a fancy place, but warm and comfortable. Good value with their food. The man behind the counter was really hospitable and even gave us 2 complimentary drinks. I will be back!!“
“I wanted to come to this place to try acevichado sushi, I was very disappointed because the taste was not good at all and it didn't taste like acevichado sushi, we also ordered roast chicken with potatoes and chaufa, the taste was too good, the chicken was perfectly cooked, the potatoes golden and perfect, the rice tasted very good, I will definitely return to this place to try that good chicken and other delicious dishes again .the price is quite affordable“
“We ordered grilled chicken, loinSaltado and sausage when they bring us the last minute orders they tell us that there is no longer any grilled chicken to prepare the sausage, and my son had to order another dish, this made me uncomfortable because I think they should anticipate this type of situation.Well, regarding the flavor, the chicken was very pleasant, the loin was not bad.“
“Toyitos is a jewel in the city of Downey. Best Rotisserie Chicken around. I love Chicken with fries and Salchipapas( sliced hotdogs and fries). The chicken has special peruvian flavor and peruvian sauces. Don’t forget the ice cream Lucuma flavor, and the peruvian soda Inka “
“This place makes such delicious Peruvian food. I order from here on an almost weekly basis. I've ordered The lomo saltado de carne, tallerin saltado de carne, arroz chaufa de carne, arroz chaufa de pollo, and arroz chaufa de marisco. I have enjoyed all of these dishes. I either order the lunch special or a la carte. It all depends on how much food I want. What can I say? Good food is good food. And the price and portions are reasonable. I highly recommend you come here if you want to enjoy good Peruvian food. Oh, and they make it to-order, so the food is always hot and fresh. You never have to wait more than 10 to 15 minutes for your order, even when they're busy.“
“Food was amazing, true authentic Peruvian food.Everything was seasoned to perfection. Only thing is the food is pricey. Someone would think coming to this location a plate would be $12-16 due to the location and also restaurant appearance.Plates are about $24-$40 depending on what your order but food is delicious.“
“The bread and sauces were good. I had the Saltado chicken which was underwhelming. The flavor was decent, but the chicken was like rubber. I saw that it was chicken breast which might explain why it was so dry. Chicken thigh would have worked better. It was so bad that I stopped eating it. Maybe the cook had a bad day. My friend ordered the same thing except she got beef. It did taste better. I also ordered agua de maracuyá which was delicious. If there is a next time I'll try something different. I did notice other people enjoying their food. The wait staff was attentive and the restaurant was acojedor (cozy).“
“I ordered the tallarin saltado especial, (beef, chicken and shrimp), salsa criolla and chicha morada. Delicious flavor, the aji was spicy (just the way i love it). I highly recommend this place, service was friendly, wide variety of options.“
“Food is delicious! Prices are slightly high, but the food does not disappoint. The service is great and the atmosphere is very homey. I'll be returning in the near future.I recommend the selections below:Chicha moradaTallarín saltadoLomo saltadoMazamorra arroz con leche“
“Ordered the Tallarin Verde con Bistec and the Jalea Mixta. The Tallarin Verde con Bistec is Peruvian pesto linguine topped with tender grilled milanesa cut. The meat was a bit chewy but flavorful and juicy. Paired with the vibrant pasta in thick pesto sauce, this was a delightful pick. The Jalea Mixta is a combination of crispy seafood and fish served with fried yucas, golden potatoes, sarza criotta, and tartar sauce. This is a plentiful dish of fried food. The mussels were nice and easy to take apart. The fried fish and squid rings were nicely done, not too overbattered and great with tartar sauce. To avoid the bloated feeling from the fried food, the purple onion salsa (salza criolla) helped to balance the flavors out. Location has its own parking lot which is convenient in downtown Alhambra. Ambiance is really nice with latin songs playing in the background. There is the option of indoor and outdoor tented seating and business picks up during the dinner rush.Parking: Observe any time limits in the area for street parking“
“They never fail me here. The chaufa is always good, good portions for the price & chunky. I don't even go to the Chinese spot for fried rice anymore, I go to Hornero's! I get the veggie chaufa, plantanos, fries, aqua frescas & they green sauce.“
“We've been coming here since it was Mario's Peruvian. The food remains the same- great! Their Lomo Saltado is always made with freshly cut potatoes, setting it apart from other places that skip corners by using frozen fries. Go for the lunch specials, and you won't be disappointed!“
“We've been wanting to try this new restaurant and finally came by. I will say you will not regret it. The food is fresh and delicious. Flavors are on point and service is great. Plenty of parking. Ambiance is great. We'll definitely be back to try new plates. Michelada was yummy.“
