“Popped in on our way through town and found the best pizza I've ever had. The service was great, the waitress was very attentive, the pizza came out incredibly fast and priced very well compared to other spots near by. I'll be stopping by any time I'm in the area.“
“A local very popular restaurant worthy of Michelin 1+ star performance. white clam pizza is a must try. This restaurant is deep in history and is celebrating its 100th year. Great atmosphere and vibe. Run by generations of family owners. Definitely need to check out their wood fire stone oven. it is the largest I have ever seen from east to west coast. if you come across one bigger please let me know. Even if this oven is second in size I bet you have a hard time finding one bigger.“
“Fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere and great staff. Noise was a bit loud, but being in a booth made all the difference. Our waiter was great, but very busy and he had a lot of tables so it took awhile to order. He was great after that - very attentive and many other helpers. Our 3rd time there and definitely my favorite spot in New Haven!!!“
“Consiglio's is a top notch Italian restaurant in New Haven. Food is phenomenal, service is fantastic and an overall outstanding experience. I never eat the same entree when we go there! So many choices and such amazing specials. Highly recommend.“
“Nice, small cozy dining room. Servers were friendly and conversational. Food was great. few starters and main courses. Meatballs are fantastic. Took quite awhile for food to arrive and check took along time aswell. Specially for not being busy that night. Would still go back and recommend. For friends family or date “
“We visited Skappo for my birthday yesterday and our initial walk in the door we were greeted by this lovely woman who cleared a table immediately so we were not waiting long. Then mom (we know from the great introduction) came over to say hello and commented on my necklace. The food was so good and it was like we were at Nonna's house!! We started with the antipasto and the stuffed figs.So glad we chose both because those stuffed figs alone were worth the trip back. For our entrees I got the bolognese and my husband got the ziti with a creamy sausage sauce, both were delicious!!! It is worth the trip and we know we will be making return visits!! Thank you for your warm welcome and delicious food!!Beth and DaveVegetarian options: Last night the lasagna was vegetarian“
“Went with friend on Sunday evening. He is regular and recommended it. Perfect meal with appetizer, wine ,main course and dessert.Had mussels. lasagne. and lemon iceAlso some white wineMussels were in tasty garlic sauce. Wish I had more room for bread to sop it up. He took some of sauce home.Lasagne excellent. Homemade noodles.Brenda the waitress was excellent attentive to our needs.A bit pricey and street parking are only neogative comments“
“Great pizza and sides. Should be in the New Haven Pizza conversation more often.Brick oven, Fresh ingredients, nice crunch and undercarriage/ crust. About 5 two person tables So not much for sitting in. More of a take out spot. Well worth it to go pick it up. Out of the down town city area. In Quiet East “
“This place was everything I expected it to be. We were seated immediately, and our server was excellent. She asked us if we had any questions and even made a suggestion for us to add bacon to our potato and rosemary pizza. Both pizzas were delicious and unlike any other I have had before. We also tried a couple of the local Foxon sodas which were great as well. I hope to be able to go again the next time I'm in the area.“
“Food was amazing, service was great, our sever angel was friendly and very attentive to us during our Valentines dinner. The octopus was some of the best I’ve ever had along with the lobster ravioli! Look forward to coming by again for dinner soon!“
“A true Gem of a restaurant that is located just outside the city. As you enter you are greeted by smiling faces and a warm and friendly environment! Truly southern Italian, the menu transports you to southern Italy and prepares you for a wonderful culinary experience! The specials are clearly the Chefs favorite weekly creations and come served with a whole lot of Amore' ! The food quality is amazing and the serving size is perfect! I started with the grilled Octopus, which was perfectly prepared and as tender as it gets, I highly recommend this! I had the Duck and tasted the Rare Tuna special, both excellent! We finished with an espresso and gelato, a perfect Italian ending. Prices are more than fair for the quality and service and the atmosphere transports you to a southern Italy Trattoria! This Gem is truly worth the trip, we cant wait to return!“
“Wait time in a line outside was 30 min-40 min to get a table on Saturday night. Service was fantastic and food was fantastic. I didn't care for the anchovies but that's my preference. I was convinced to get the tomato pie without the mozzarella and it ended up being my favorite.“
“If you are working near New Haven hospital till late hours and require something to eat, i will highly recommend this place. It is really accessible to get to this place (it is linked from new haven hospital to the parking garage. furthermore its sheltered) and the food served here is pretty decent. I used to love ordering the pizza and kebab from this place while i was living in New Haven. The price is also really reasonable“
“I love this restaurant and think it is one of the best in New Haven. Tonight we enjoyed the fresh pasta with mushrooms and Branzino, crème brûlée and tiramisu. Everything was perfectly delicious. The only imperfection was the rather long wait we had for our waitress to take our orders. She was perfectly nice and did a good job. The upstairs is quiet and easy to hear your companions talk. It would be nice to have more art on the walls upstairs.“
“We used the smaller room for a family event and had the best experience. Catering was amazing to work with and planning was very smooth. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food was exceptional. The wait staff were such pros and I could relax and enjoy the party. I can’t recommend Tres Scalini enough for a party.Dietary restrictions: They made special meals for each person which were all delicious. Everyone was so happy.“
“Food, service, ambiance, and cost were excellent. 6 dinner, 2 apps, 12 cocktails. I had the veal chop special and was delicious and a huge portion. The leftovers were even great a few days later, rewarmed, in the oven, not the microwave. Old school Italian feel with original dishes. Definitely recommend.“
“Came here on a quiet weeknight and was amazed by the authentic Italian cuisine. Started off with a wonderful Burrata then I had the Rigatoni Bolgenese with was really good. We also bought a loaf of the Italian Bread to bring home. That bread with some Cabot butter and you are on to something!! Would visit again.“
“We had dinner tonight at Nikki and Frankie's on Route 80 on the recommendation of a friend.. the eggplant was fantastic and made the right way the good old-fashioned Italian way.. the meatballs were legit the sauce was delish and couldn't be any fresher... we were welcomed like we were walking into aunties dining room and the place was clean as a whistle.. A must go to !“
“Visited here for lunch one afternoon before the holidays. Great service and great food! Plenty of parking and close to I-95. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Nice variety of menu options. Great Chicken Parmigiana and Meatballs.“
“Sweet vibe and even sweeter staff. The food is fantastic, and they even got live music. What else could you want?Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian pizzas since most pizzas are. But what's cool is they got a buncha vegan pizzas, too.“
“Stopped in on our stop in Ct. we live in Florida now( ( almost 30 years) but were born and raised in NewHaven, East Haven Branford. Our lunch was so delicious, I had eggplant on a hard roll, so delicious I could still taste it, not everyone makes eggplant correctly. My husband had a meatball sub, he so enjoyed it( and not easily pleased)the bread was so fresh as were the meatballs. It will definitely be put on our list of stops when we come back. Oh so good!“
“Before I went to this restaurant, I read the reviews. There were some negative reviews. I guess any restaurant can have a bad night.I have to say I had great service and the food was excellent. I would definitely go back and I’d definitely recommend it to friends and family. I had a great dinning experience..“
“We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. Food was excellent table was great facing the water. But the best part of our dining experience was our server. Her name Is LeeAnn and she was wonderful! So friendly, professional, caring and a beautiful smile. I would say that she was the BEST server that I have ever encountered and I have been to many different restaurants all over the world. We had a long day and a tough one and this wonderful person turned out day into a positive one. Thank you for your fab food and wonderful staff especially LeeAnn. See you again real soon!!“
“AMBIANCE!!! This is the perfect spot for a ladies night, happy hour or a date night. Small plate choices and Happy Hour menu is drool worthy! Plus!! $4 drinks! The staff is attentive and not over-bearing (they've obviously been trained to perfect this). I love that we weren't rushed! I'll be back!!“
“The combo apizza here was delicious! It was huge and was plenty for three of us. Generously covered with my favorite toppings including pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions. The crust is baked crisp and I liked that it wasn't overly charred like some other places. A great addition to the New Haven apizza scene.“
“I'm gonna start with a real bold opener here and say that out of the pizza greats MODERN IS THE BEST, HANDS DOWN. It's not up for debate, it's not an opinion, it's an empirical fact.I have NEVER had a bad experience doing business with them.Dine-in: FIVE STARS.Take-out: FIVE STARS.Their customer service: not even a contest! Always so polite, kind, accommodating, and really care about giving you a positive experience. My favorite nuances withheld in Modern's perfectly cooked dough are:-The subtle sweetness that arrives on the back end of every bite that I believe is in the dough and not the sauce (correct me if I'm wrong).-Their pies produce the absolute perfect bubble.-The dough has a really good bouncy mouthfeel without being overly floppy.-Exceptional sauce, very bright and flavorful.-Good sauce/dough/cheese ratio.-Clutch undercarriage. The best way to measure the worth of any pizza is with a plain cheese pie.I've waited about 3 years, maybe a little more, to post this review. My opinion was formed the moment I tasted the absolute best and it hasn't changed yet. I hope this review helps you to make the right decision when it comes to your pizza patronage.“
