“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !”

“We stop in once a week. Sometimes we eat there and sometimes we call and pick up. The atmosphere is fabulous. If we ever do have to wait for our food, it’s totally worth it. If my husband and I are together we sit and have wine while we wait. They are all very friendly! If we get take out, we always get extra so we can have leftovers, which are always delicious. We reheat the pizza in the toaster oven, it’s amazing. We also love the desserts there! It’s just a great spot and we love it! I’ve never once been disappointed with any of their service or food.”

My go-to bowl is the Tropical Açaí bowl…and a close 2nd is the Pura Vida Açaí bowl.

The only thing I could say negative…and it isn’t a negative at all, is I wish they had a smaller size bowl available. The bowl is almost a meal in itself. If there was a bowl that had 50-60% the size of the current bowl, it would be a great desert.

“my friend and I had lunch here with our little ones today (2 and 5) i picked here because i knew they would be child friendly.because lets be honest you never know what's going to happen taking toddlers to a restaurant. they were well behaved but i want to give a huge shout-out to our amazing server Zuri. Hands down the best waitress ive ever had in a restaurant. She was polite, attentive, and had great positive vibes from her all around. “A wonderful place with a healthy variety of food so there's something for everyone. They're very accommodating with the options— not everything is vegan, but it feels like at least half of the menu is, and if it isn't then it can be made vegan. Menu items are conveniently and clearly labeled so you know what is vegan, gluten-free, or has nuts, among other things, and I can't stress enough how much I really wish every place did this. The seitan wings and loaded totchos are some of my favorites on the appetizer end- the "wings" in particular feel nice and juicy and have a great texture that I've been trying and failing to replicate at home. They have a really killer plant burger too known as the California Gardenator, which for me is always a big +10 points especially seeing how many places' "plant options" will just be an Impossible Patty; they also have delicious and flavorful tacos made with soy curls. The location unfortunately has the same "issue" as the other Main Street locations in Newark, which is that's there not a great way to quickly park and go even if you just want to pick something up (and all the parking spots on Main Street are metered because of course they need to capitalize off of the UD kids) but the actual building is a gorgeous establishment with great indoor/outdoor seating and friendly staff. Some may disagere but I found the prices pretty reasonable for the quality and it feels like the portions are plentiful— I've underestimated how much food they give you a few times.”

Our server had time to explain the menu and make recommendation to our group that included a 4 year old. Why is this relevant? Because, she gave her the same respectful service as she did the adults. Thank you. Now let's get to the food. I had the Chicken Picatta. I had to take the picture because at the first bite I new it was about to be destroyed. I left nothing on the plate. The Impossible Sloppy for those who need a vegan option also got a thumbs up. The food comes out hot hot! No one complained! I will be back the next time I am in Delaware.”

“We decided to go to dinner at Firebirds. I had been once and was not impressed; however my husband had never been there. I have to say the food was good. Cooked exactly the way we wanted. The only draw back we had is the portions of food that you receive for the price that you pay. We felt like we were robbed. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.”

Everyone working was very kind, and the drink + bagel i had were both so good that I felt compelled to actually write this FB review. I have been mourning the loss of my favorite wilmington boba spot (it sounds dramatic but I am serious, the others just aren’t the same) so am so glad to have found a good one, even if it’s a little bit of a hike.”

Tikka Masala delivered via Doordash brings us delicious flavourful Indian food that I enjoy medium or spicy (there's that fire!). Both the Chicken Chettinadu and Tikka both are whole meat chunks of chicken, amen, with comforting seasoning to boot. A little of each as pictured and I have plenty for a second meal. Basmati rice, naan and the circle on the plate is complete. Update: Masala Dosa is heavenly! Perfect dish. A blessing to have fantastic Indian food at our beckoning call. Nicely done & thank you!”

Can't review alcoholic drinks because I don't drink.Recently I ordered pick up. Upon the return time they gave me... It took about a 20 minute wait for someone to come to the front to assist me with my pick up . They gave me a receipt but not my debit card back. Partly my fault to realize this.....but their fault too...this is the 2nd time that happened to me at pick up.. I think maybe a bell would work at the front desk to get someone's attention.i even stood at the bar for 5 minutes but no one came out.for awhile.. all in all I will probably return here be a use thw food I've had has been delicious each time....I recommend the shrimp quesidilas and I love their rice. However I think that their customer service really needs attention. They gave me a menu. I ordered pick up and they said 15 to 20 minutes....once arriving to pick up I waited about 15 to 20 minutes for someone e to come to the front to get the food.”

“I’ve been going here for about two years now and this is my of my favorite restaurants in the area. The Baja Shrimp tacos have this amazing sauce that makes the meal so so good. And the burros have such a good sauce too. I also love their fries, they’re so unique with them being so thin. The service here is also great. You get sat quickly, your server comes over fast, and your food comes out fast. The other night I had this server Dana who was so sweet and we had a nice conversation. It was great because I was dining alone so I was happy to have someone to talk to. And she recommended the pastelitos and they were delicious. Highly recommend!!!”

“Had a great meal at ugly dumpling, greeted with great service right away! Service was personable and accommodating to my stroller and a high chair for toddler. The establishment is extremely clean and beautifully designed. Waitress was helpful in assisting with menu, family style small plates, 3-4 plates for a couple suggested. We loved the dumplings with spicy sauce on side and sesame noodles. So fun to see everyone working on hundreds of beautiful, delicate, and delicious dumplings! 🥟 thank you ugly dumpling team!”

The ingredients are fresh, and meals are tasty. The picture menu allows me to try new dishes, even when I can’t pronounce them. The hospitality is delightfully surprising in a world of in and out dining. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal with a friend.”

“Beautiful spot with comfy chairs and a varied and delicious menu. My date had the Dubai Crepe and I had a walnut baklava and a pistachio borma. The music was pleasant if unfamilliar but aided in the atmosphere being relaxing and making conversation easy. There was a nice little selection of games (checkers, tic tac toe. Dominoes, etc). We can't wait to try everything on the menu!”

“Wow, the soup dumplings were amazing bursting in your mouth with flavor. The fact that you could see them making the dumplings right in the back is incredible. Noodles were awesome as well. I had a beef noodle soup. It was amazing. The beef was so tender and the flavors were on time but the real star of the show was definitely soup dumplings. They were amazing. “For what you get, Wonder Grove is actually a pretty solid deal. Tried the ribeye cheesesteak from Fred's Meat & Bread and was surprised how good it was for the price. Packaging kept everything hot which is always a win. Compare this to going out to eat with drinks, tip, parking - you're easily spending double. Fast delivery too. Way better value than I expected for restaurant-level food at home.”
