“I'm so disappointed that I need to change this formerly 5 star review (old review below).
The menu has been revamped, and in that process, many of the vegetarian- friendly options have been removed, including the ability to swap a vegetarian protein for the various breakfast meats. There are no longer any vegetarian substitutions.
The prices are no longer excellent, either. Today, I paid $17 for a just-ok omelet and potatoes that, despite having the same name they used to, are no longer nearly as good as they used to be.
This may be a function of it being a Sunday morning, but it was so loud in there that I could barely carry on a conversation.
My previous review is below. I'm hoping that the management will consider revising the menu to make it more flexible for vegetarians and others with dietary restrictions.
OLD REVIEW
Very relaxed atmosphere and an amazing menu! There were plenty of vegetarian options, and they can even add a Beyond Burger to omelets! Prices are very reasonable. Service was excellent, but it was a slow Monday morning, so that may differ during a weekend brunch rush.
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're going to breakfast with people who have dietary restrictions.

“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !”

“I’m not usually hanging out in the area, but I needed to get my car windshield replaced yesterday and had to run a long zoom meeting afterwards. So I needed somewhere to camp out afterwards since I wouldn’t make it back home to wilmington in time. I stumbled upon this place in my “coffee shops” map search. Everyone working was very kind, and the drink + bagel i had were both so good that I felt compelled to actually write this FB review. I have been mourning the loss of my favorite wilmington boba spot (it sounds dramatic but I am serious, the others just aren’t the same) so am so glad to have found a good one, even if it’s a little bit of a hike.”

“We were visiting Newark for a furry convention nearby and my partner and I got stuck in a random hailstorm on our way to Chipotle down the street. We took cover in Home Grown and found out it's got a large selection of vegan selections, which was a surprise! We took the opportunity for a date and our server, Dana, was wonderful. They introduced us to the restaurant and gave us an overview of the menu, specials, and their favorite drink. We ended up ordering the Maple Barbecue seitan wings, the casserole style loaded fries, the seitan birria tacos, the winter mac, and Dana's favorite drink, the Bird by Bird. The drink was amazing and a perfect choice with all of the food being incredible. I wish there was one near where we live. What an absolutely wonderful date.”

The only draw back we had is the portions of food that you receive for the price that you pay. We felt like we were robbed. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.”

“Despite living just 20 minutes from the brewery and being an avid beer lover, for whatever reason my husband and I hadn’t been to twisted irons. We decided to make a visit and then were kicking ourselves for not coming sooner! Often if you’re not a “regular” at these breweries you’re ignored, not here. The staff were amazing! They made us feel welcome, and made beer suggestions based on our style of beer choices. The beers were delicious and the vibes were vibin’. We left raving… until we noticed our card was charged for substantially more than we authorized. BUT! Literally within minutes of me contacting the bar, they sincerely apologized for the fat finger and refunded the money. I debated adding that little negative thing, but it’s important for others to know that despite making a mistake, how quickly they rectified it while also being so kind. I 10/10 recommend this brewery and cannot wait to return! Cheers!”

“I settled into my seat for a grueling four-plus-hour bus ride, and within the first hour, a fierce thirst hit me hard. It’s wild how intense it gets when you’re stuck on a bus with no stops until near the end. Finally, we pulled over for a quick 10-minute break, and I spotted a Burger King nearby. Inside, a lone employee was hustling behind the counter, powering through his shift without a hint of complaint.
Desperate to quench my thirst, I approached him to buy a small drink. My jaw dropped when he said a small cup was nearly five bucks. Stunned, I asked about water instead—turns out, even that had a price tag. Sensing my reluctance, the cashier paused, then kindly offered me a courtesy cup. That small gesture hit me right in the chest.
I darted to the fountain, filled the cup with ice-cold water, and chugged it down—pure relief washing over me. Grateful, I returned to the counter, asked for his name, and promised him a glowing review. It felt like the least I could do for his generosity.
So, thank you, Joe, for being a bright spot in the middle of my long night. I hope someday you get the same kind of help when you need it. Looking forward to crossing paths again next month”

“We stop in once a week. Sometimes we eat there and sometimes we call and pick up. The atmosphere is fabulous. If we ever do have to wait for our food, it’s totally worth it. If my husband and I are together we sit and have wine while we wait. They are all very friendly! If we get take out, we always get extra so we can have leftovers, which are always delicious. We reheat the pizza in the toaster oven, it’s amazing. We also love the desserts there! It’s just a great spot and we love it! I’ve never once been disappointed with any of their service or food.”

This is a mom n pop type of food spot so you have a variety of snacks, drinks, desserts, and hot or cold foods. Had a hard time choosing something cause the menu so large.
My reuben sandwich was good and flavorful and I got some onion rings which are thick cut, beer battered very good and even better paired with some blue cheese.
I will be back based off my food cause I enjoyed. Definitely will be 1 of my frequent spots.”

The owner was easy to work with when placing the order and was flexible when I added to the order a few days before the event. The charcoal grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned, very tender and delicious. The charcoal really gave it that authentic smoky flavor and my family raved about it. They even threw in some free veggie spring rolls which were delicate and delicious. Everything was ready on time and everyone was very kind when my husband came to pick it up. Would highly recommend Pho Ever if you need catering and would recommend this dish in particular. They do an excellent job and its authentic!”

Partly my fault to realize this.....but their fault too...this is the 2nd time that happened to me at pick up.. I think maybe a bell would work at the front desk to get someone's attention.i even stood at the bar for 5 minutes but no one came out.for awhile.. all in all I will probably return here be a use thw food I've had has been delicious each time....I recommend the shrimp quesidilas and I love their rice. However I think that their customer service really needs attention. They gave me a menu. Our server had time to explain the menu and make recommendation to our group that included a 4 year old. Why is this relevant? Because, she gave her the same respectful service as she did the adults. Mind you, yes, it is double tortilla. The limes and 2 types of sauce just made it that much better. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.”

Partly my fault to realize this.....but their fault too...this is the 2nd time that happened to me at pick up.. I think maybe a bell would work at the front desk to get someone's attention.i even stood at the bar for 5 minutes but no one came out.for awhile.. all in all I will probably return here be a use thw food I've had has been delicious each time....I recommend the shrimp quesidilas and I love their rice. However I think that their customer service really needs attention. They gave me a menu.
