“Update after a year: We had the most amazing time and excellent food! Our server Emma was so lovely. The whiskey flights are fabulous.I love Q 39s ribs and brisket! Also, I am gluten intolerant and although their fries are marked as not gf, it turns out that's due to not having a dedicated fryer. I can be fairly sensitive to a busy shared fryer, but maybe they don't fry much else in it besides french fries because I ate theirs with zero side effects“
“So you know how sometimes a place that is deemed famous is overrated? NOT THIS ONE! Absolutely delicious. Hands down. Ordered the burnt ends special which for the side, chose mac and cheese, had to get the Z-man, and had the 2 meat dinner (brisket and smoked turkey) with rice and beans. Whatever you get will be delectable! Their house sauce was much better than Gates. Just go here and don't waste your time with the others like we did. The line is long but efficient. Go during the weekday, we went on a Monday around 3. It was only a half-hour line, which a local told us we were lucky!“
“I absolutely loved this place! The food was great, the staff was very kind and attentive. The pricing was right too! You get a lot for your money and it’s *delicious*. I’ll be coming back the next time I’m in Kansas City!We also had a vegetarian in the group who tried the jackfruit and was a fan!Vegetarian options: The jackfruit was great!“
“Great place to gather or to simply come by yourself!! I was on a business trip and I was solo, but I sat at the bar and received fantastic service by Cariann (one of the bartenders) and she was nice to talk to as well. She had great recommendations and made the best experience for me by suggesting the pick 2. I was stuck between the lamb rack of ribs and the 1 huge prime rib (beef rib) but with the pick 2 you can get both, just that the lamb rack was a half rack. Both portions of meat ? was more substantial than one would think and I couldn't believe the flavor explosion in my mouth once I tasted everything!!I also had the potato salad and the baked beans which were awesome! 5 out of 5 stars! Plus, the atmosphere was so chill I had great conversations with anyone who came up to the bar. Not to forget to mention, the drinks and beer selection were great! I had one of the Casual Animal Breweries, IPA. Yummm!!Highly recommend and when I'm back and I hope to see Cariann and catch up with her. I will bring my friends and family for a great dinner! ???????“
“Had the Mr Burns sandwich with macaroni & cheese, food was fantastic, fresh & fast. Menu descriptions need worked on for some items, multiple items ordered in our party that had extra/unexpected things on them that were not listed in the description on the menu. Definitely a problem for people with food allergies.“
“This place is AMAZING. We found it by accident as we were driving through on our way north. Hands down the best vegan soul food I have ever tasted. Collard greens were complex and flavorful, the corn bread was absolutely luscious, and the sauce on the vegan brisket was out of this wold. If they were in Minneapolis I'd eat there every single day. The space was bright and cheerful and the staff was incredibly welcoming. What a treat!“
“My son and I had lunch there today. My first time. Service was exceptional, food was delicious. We both ordered choose two. When we got our order my son said that this was how burnt ends should be. Manager John was a true professional. Definitely going back.“
“Best ribs I've had since Dreamland BBQ in Alabama, and even then might give em a run for their money. Soooo glad I stopped here for dinner. The baked potato casserole is pretty tasty as well. But I'm telling, those ribs... So good!“
“The brisket is some of the best I've ever had. So tender you don't need a knife to cut it. Smoke ring was spot on and the flavor was perfect. Just the perfect blend of smokiness! I'll definitely be back when I visit KC again!“
“I didn’t get a great picture because the food was 1/2 gone before I got around to thinking about doing a review. Lol. It was amazing. Food was fresh and homemade!! The falafel was the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. Lentil soup was amazing. Hummus and Baba were great. The service was excellent. They also offer a selection of fresh squeezed juices, and freshly made juice drinks. I had the mint lemonade - it was obvious that she squeezed the lemons and blended it with fresh mint, water, ice and sugar. Delicious. One of those meals where you walk away feeling full, satisfied but GOOD. Even the pita - was served hot - fresh grilled, with a seasoning on top. Yum!!“
“We're from out of town, and needed to get some BBQ while in the KC area, we were not disappointed. I learned so much about this place in the few minutes we were there placing our carry-out order. First, this place cares for its employees, I know because Issac shared that he has worked there since he was 16, and that seemed like several years ago (you still look young Issac). He also said he's had a z-man every day, and still loves them, and I concur, that was a beast of a sandwich, possibly the best sandwich of any kind I have ever consumed. I learned that the food was incredible because there was a fast moving line that was out of the building, which compelled us to order take out, but I would wait next time, knowing how awesome the food is now.I make some BBQ at home, and it takes a ton of work to make it that good, and to make as much as Joe's does takes incredible preparation and knowledge, it is just simply great BBQ. Thank you Issac, and all the incredible people at Joes's. I may never be able to eat BBQ anywhere else ever again.“
“The atmosphere is good and chill, family friendly. The food was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the staff, they were so nice. The experience is different. You stand in line and order your food and pay at second register. They provide a ticket number/receipt and you also choose your own table. Im visiting friends and Im from out of state. I would definitely say this is a great place to visit.Parking: Located in a plaza with other businesses. Shared parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available for ages 12 and underWheelchair accessibility: Ramp located in front“
“Buck Tui BBQ is a fun fusion twist between KC barbecue and Southeast Asian dishes. Some cultural purists might cringe at some of the creations, but they all seem to be great combinations. Service was great but the dishes can get pricey. Everyone in our party was delighted with their choices. Delicious and fun!“
“We had the best experience and a server who was so attentive to our needs. I would recommend this place to anybody who enjoys great food and relaxing atmosphere.Parking: Plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: They seem to be kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: And wheel chair accessibility“
“Stopped by casually on a brisk Saturday afternoon, i wasn’t starving but I could eat, I had a cold Turkey sandwich and French fries, it was yummy, the food came out fast and the employees were very friendly. They also play nice music. A hidden ? the ribs are good as well.“
“We're forever driving past SmokeTown BBQ, commenting that we needed try to it someday. Yesterday was the day!The inside is perfect BBQ decor, wood paneling, tvs, neons, and of course a Kelce Swift cutout that looks like a cute picture opportunity. You order at the counter, and they bring it out. Everyone we encountered was so nice, and the food came out quickly. My first time order is always a brisket/beef sandwich and either onion rings or beans. Although I've heard amazing things about the mac and cheese, we didn't try it. The bun was soft and fluffy, the beef sliced thin (the way I prefer it), and the medium sandwich was the perfect size for me to demolish after skipping lunch. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, and delicious, but I can't confirm if they're made in house, for those who quest for the perfect onion ring. There were regular, sweet, and spicy sauce options, we didn't try the sweet, but liked the regular and the spicy. We'd definitely go back and try more things, especially the Mac and piggy, and the smoked Gouda balls.“
“Char Bar is a go to BBQ place in Westport. Portion sizes are great, tender, juicy and flavorful meats. Even the few vegetarian options they have taste great.Service can be a bit slow sometimes, but usually good. Staff members are friendly (servers and bartenders) but hosts can be a tad bit curt, not in a rude way though.Their side options are all very good, can't go wrong with Jo Jo potatoes! Cornbread muffins are great too!“
“Dined quite a bit at this location and I had most of the menu. I would say get what you have the taste for. Burnt ends, brisket, shrimp, pulled pork, beans, corn and the fries are my top fave along with the chocolate brownie and ice cream! Jacks has the best sides in my opinion compared to most of the bbq places in Kc!“
“We shared a combo plate and a chili. Both were great the ribs and brisket were one of the best we have tried in KC this year !!We also bought a smoked turkey for thanksgiving it was great and easy to heat up.I would recommend it if your anywhere near !“
“Not only is this the best barbecue in Kansas City by far. This is the best food in Kansas City by far. I am born and raised in Kansas City and I have never had anything like this. I had heard that this is the best in the city, but I didn't believe it. Wonderful customer service, the perfect place to eat, and the best food I have had in Kansas City. Get there early so you can get what you want, but I guarantee anything you get here is going to be astounding. Thank you Chef J, you really have a special place.“
“My partner and I came here on a whim, just looking for some affordable BBQ for our budget, because I had a mad craving. Everything was beyond expectations, and so delicious. Highly recommend the jalapeño cheddar sausage. We also really loved both their in house sauces! Service was fast and super friendly too!“
“Walked in and we were greeted with a friendly smile. I wasn’t hungry but my boyfriend wanted some BBQ. Today’s special was burnt ends. I ordered a lb. of smoked brisket because the smell was amazing in this place. I suddenly became hungry LOL!We ordered side dishes of baked beans and fries. Our meal came quickly to our table. The beans were on point, not sweet and not plain. The fries were crunchy and delicious. The burnt ends were spot on. My eyes were bigger than my stomach but I tried to eat 1/2 lb. of the brisket. I’m saving the other half for dinner tomorrow. We were given two types of BBQ sauce (hot/mild) and pickle spears. The waitress told us she had dessert if we were interested. I could see the Neapolitan cake on the counter. It was a beautiful cake. She sold us on the S’mores cake. The restaurants ambiance makes you want to come back have some drinks, great food, talk to the staff and owner. By the way, every other Wednesday they have Kareoke night 6-10 pm. I’m definitely coming back. Look if you’re not into meat that’s great but if you’re into dessert you have to try this place! The cake maker is listed on here too.Ps. We couldn’t wait to eat and that’s why some of the food is gone.Parking: Plenty of free parking in the front, side, and rear of building.Kid-friendliness: There’s coloring pages for the kiddos and kid friendly food. What kiddo doesn’t love fries!“
“Beautiful restaurant, courteous staff. The BBQ was great. The best thing on the menu is the beans!!! Smokey and sweet! Location easy to find. Our waitress was amazing!!!! The sauces are great. We had fried mushrooms. They are huge! If they had been cooked longer, it would have been perfect! We loved the horseradish dip that it served with the mushrooms!!! So yummy. Oh and if you love sweet tea, its fantastic!!!“
“We recently had a small informal wedding and reception at the The 180 Room. What a great place with excellent service and fabulous food. The atmosphere was perfect for us. It is a hidden gem in Olathe. Jen took care of everything and was so easy to work with.“
“Hometown heroes eat the best! Immiators eat the rest. Best Kansas City in the BBQ around town. Real people. Real food. Real good.Parking: Best parking in Kansas!Kid-friendliness: Don't let them learn anywhere else! Good manners!Wheelchair accessibility: Of course!“
“First time visit. Not disappointed. Though they did commit one nearly unforgivable sin as far as my husband is concerned. No pickles were served with his sandwich ? Luckily, since I never eat the pickles on the side, I just gave him mine ?. Food was delicious. We had a server in training, Austin, and he did great. We'll be back.“
“I love their burnt end sandwiches and potato salad. They should go with a traditional Cole slaw. The in house slaw is basically cabbage with no flavor. All my friends are not a fan of the slaw but everything else is great. It’s like most all BBQ places, pricey but I get the high cost of surviving in business.“
“Food was great but really pricey. Spent $150 for two people. I lived in Korea for 4 years and was used to $2 soju… No drink prices in the menu and was a little surprised to be charged $16 for a single bottle of soju ?.Galbi was only 2 pieces for $30… not enough for a single meal.Great food, tasted just like in Korea! Just very expensive.“
“I have been eating at Bates City for over 10 years. The restaurant has a nice layout with plenty of places to eat inside.I always order the brisket sandwich or the rib plate. They serve a generous amount of freshly cooked fries with your meals. The BBQ is pretty affordable. It’s a great location in a nice area that is easy to drive to.Parking: Plenty of parking in the restaurant parking lot and at the businesses next door.“
“I'm so glad that you guys reopened. This place makes my heart happy! Sean our server was absolutely amazing! The old team is back from before! And it just makes me happy to be able to revisit one of my favorite places that I thought was lost to time, but it makes it all that much better to see the same inviting faces when you go! Congratulations on your reopening! I'll be back very soon!“
“Definitely the top 5 BBQ in KC. You don't hear about it when people are talking about KC BBQ like Joe's, Q39 (way over rated), Jack Stack, LC's (my all time favorite), woodyard or many others. But when I have people in from out of town for business trips, I tell them to skip the other well known places and try RJs. Prices are great, the habanero BBQ sauce is best in the city. Plus it's near my house. Love to go in, sit at the bar, watch a game, have a beer and some amazing BBQ. Great neighborhood feel. Give it a shot. Best little secret in Mission.“
