This johnnys is better than 95th and Antioch but not as good as the one on 119th off Metcalf.“
“I can't believe I hadn't ever been to Story before this! We had a pretty early rez (5pm Sunday) so arrived with the place to ourselves, but by 7pm it was packed. And rightfully so.The pear goat cheese salad and duck empanadas were fantastic. Dishes where you can taste every individual unique flavor (and the candied nuts are crushed small so they don't just take over everything).I ordered the lobster and shiitake tagliatelle as my entree and I would have licked the plate if it would have seemed appropriate. All 3 plates were so delicately done and absolutely delicious.I really liked Brian's entree too: beef short rib is apparently a staple on their menu and I can see why. The meat is perfection from the sauce to the tenderness. The gnocchi were a little tighter than I expected (more like spaetzle) but the perfect bite was a little of the crispy onion ring, a little of the flake-apart beef, and a mini gnocchi.We got fries to start and demolished them, though they were just a tiny bit over salted. The aioli is the key.I liked the lemon cake but LOVED the carrot cake with mascarpone buttercream and crunchy salty bits on top.Pair with good cocktails and a great wine list and we were happy diners.“

The dipping sauce that comes with it is very tasty as well Burgers are now (seemingly) more smashed than years ago, still very tasty. Now that the weather (march 2024) is getting better, there is limited patio seating. Service - at the bar was good Ambiance - pure burger bar and I recall it can get very loud when a large crowd Fri/Sat nights. There's also Fish and Chips and a hot dog/chili dog on the menu, and chicken if you aren't craving tasty maybe wagyu burgers.“

I enjoyed the lobster bisque but was especially blown away by the lobster pasta. Wandering Vine’s chef is truly creative and I greatly admire her colorful original plating.June 2023My parents enjoyed Wandering Vine so much that we were all excited to go back when they were in town over the weekend. Funny enough, we ate at the same table where we sat last time. This place certainly has a unique charm to it, with a nice atmosphere that you won't quite find anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and our service was wonderful. I had the braised lamb shoulder pasta. It was cooked to perfection and the flavors were fantastic. The toasted pine nuts were a nice touch. The only thing I would have changed is substituting the edamame for something else. It added nice color, but it was a little too much crunch for my taste. My wife had the special, which was goat cheese cavatelli pasta with crab meat. Absolutely delicious. My dad enjoyed the filet mignon and we all enjoyed our wine flights--one of my favorite things about this restaurant. Mine included wines from Argentina, France, and Washington. We didn't save room for dessert, but we did get a taste of the gazpacho, which was very flavorful with a nice kick to it. They are rotating their menu in a few weeks, so definitely reason to return.Feb. 2023Had dinner here with my wife and parents and we LOVED it. “We (Me, wife, and daughter) were there for lunch. My wife and I shared The Pig Flatbread and ordered my daughter fries and chicken tenders. We flatbread was delicious! My daughter normally doesn’t eat anything from a restaurant except fries or bread. We tried the chicken tenders just in case she changed her mind. She tried the chicken along with their housemade ketchup, which she typically rejects sauce, and she loved it. We ordered drinks and they were good too. The chef/owner greeted us at the end which was a nice end to lunch. Our waiter and hostess were great as well. Overall, it was a five star experience!“
“Absolutely love Brewers Kitchen. Staff is extremely friendly, local beer selection is fantastic and the food is nothing short of amazing. Ive had just about every thing on the menu in the last 6 months of visiting and have never been disappointed. Their house made Honey Mustard is exceptional and wish I could buy gallons of it for back home it's that good. The food really is the star of the show, you can tell nothing is frozen and everything is fresh and made to order. If you want the best burger in KC, you need to come in to Brewers Kitchen.“

They also had a full bar and a nice selection of snacks to enjoy while throwing axes. The only downside was that it seemed a little overpriced for the experience. I paid $35, which felt a bit steep for something that didn't require much equipment or skill. I think it would be more reasonable to charge $15 or $20 per hour, or offer some discounts or deals for groups or repeat customers. Overall, I had a fun at Blade & Timber and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and exciting activity.“

“We were staying at the Hampton Inn downtown and were looking for a good restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. The city market area has about a dozen restaurants to choose from, so we chose this one. It was an excellent choice. The restaurant is very bright due to having a lot of windows, as well as many light fixtures inside. We started with the shrimp toast appetizer, and it was outstanding. It contained toasted pieces of baguette covered in gold shrimp, moray, chives, Sriracha, nuox Cham cauliflower, and sesame crunch. I could just eat that dish again for my dinner. For entrees, we had the Bahn MI sandwich and the grilled quail. The Bahn MI consisted of pork meatballs, bacon pate, pickled vegetables, chili aioli, banana ketchup, chili oil and cilantro. It was very flavorful but a little spicy. My husband had the grilled quail. He loved it. It was accompanied by ginger-lime fried rice. We would definitely return.“

The Blue Grotto salad is very good as well. And, during happy hour you cannot beat the prices. I'm not a big beer drinker but I see people coming here all the time to taste the many beers on tap. “Cool place. We are in town from STL and tried to make a reservation at 5:15 on a Friday. The website said no tables available until after 7:15. Tried to call and they would not accept phone calls. We were 17 minutes away by foot and decided to walk anyway. Arrived at 5:45 to a 1/4 full restaurant and grabbed a seat at the bar. We were greeted fairly soon at the bar. Ordered great food and a beer. When it came time to order another drink it was difficult to get service. Ended up having 2 beers each but would have easily had 3 or 4 with attentive service. What was very odd was they came by and asked it we were done with our plates and if they could take them when we had them stacked and pushed forward for 20 minutes. Then our original bartender came and placed two clean martini glasses in the middle of all the dirty dishes to make martinis. This place is good and has a ton of potential. I wonder how much revenue potential they are losing per evening with the service. I am uncertain if they were under staffed but had 3 bar tenders.“
