Hi-Wire Brewing Charlotte Brewery • $
340 W Tremont Ave Suite 140, Charlotte

“Hi Wire is a great place for a wide variety of FREE games. Ping pong, air hockey, soccer pool, connect 4. I always love a space with gender neutral bathrooms and wheel chair accessibility. The beer selection and calendar of events is very robust as well.An area of improvement is using gender neutral pronouns for the patrons. I noticed rainbow flags all over the space but I was misgendered by the bar tender which didn’t feel affirming. I gave the space 4 stars because I recommend using they pronouns if you don’t know how someone identifies.“

“Tucked away spot that really is a gem..The place just feels like good energy.Beertender was super cool. Had a nice chat and he pointed me in the direction of some other must try breweries while I was in town..Spacious with a cool rustic yet modern warehouse type of feel. Small poured a handful of their IPAs and was not disappointed. Everything was clean, balanced, delicious.. I'm a fan.Didn't ask the story behind the name.. Google here I come.“

HopFly Brewing Company Bar • $$
1327 S Mint St, Charlotte

“Amazing drinks, first tasted one of their Blender series at a local bottle shop and could not stop talking about it. Found out this was not too far from me and took my best friend with me. I tried a few beers, the food truck sadly was closed when we went but they were very accommodating with us getting outside food. Seems they have some events that happen regularly, including a cycling group. The bartender was informative and had no problems answering specific questions. Even let me know which beers were vegan for me to take some home to my wife. Amazing selections.“

Petty Thieves Brewing Co Brewery • $
413 Dalton Ave Suite B, Charlotte

“One of the best breweries I've been to in awhile. The decor is eclectic and feels like an antique store but also very trendy. They had mulled wine which has been hard to find some I moved back to the US from Europe! Service was fast despite being a busy night due to the live music act which was amazing! Any other place would have charged a cover for this performance. They had a fiddle player, guitarist and more. It was such a cozy, intimate evening. Since I went during Christmas week, they threw in some Christmas classics and handed out the lyrics on a sheet so we could all sing along.“

Lower Left Brewing Co. Brewery • $
4528 Nations Crossing Rd, Charlotte

“Full disclosure I know the owners. That being said I have been active in the craft beer scene in a different state for a long time and Lower Left reminds me of the exciting early day of craft brewing. A local brewery, laidback vibes, run by folks that want to make a good product and have a fun time doing it. The beers well made, and the selection is stellar for such a small brew house. They really shine with IPAs, but have some amazing rotating beers (including a Key Lime Pie beer that is in my top 10 list). So bring your spouse, kids, in-laws, dogs, cats and head over to Lower Left for a solid beer and good times.“

Birdsong Brewing Co. Brewery • $

“Visited in October 2014. An amazing place! While waiting to check into our hotel, we decided to see if this brewery was open. It wasn’t officially, but a guy named Joe welcomed us inside. We had a fantastic time tasting the beers and chatting with him. Joe even shared some ghost peppers used in their Jalapeño Pale Ale brewing. In addition to the great beers, we received stickers, coasters, a glass, and a t-shirt. What a generous host and what a remarkable place! Should I return to Charlotte, Birdsong Brewing Co is a definite must-visit for me, and I highly recommend it to everyone.“

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Brewery • $$
3000 S Tryon St, Charlotte

“When I used to live in the city few years ago I used to rave about how all of the Charlotte breweries couldn’t hold a candle to the charcuterie at Lenny Boy - always with two rotating, high quality cheeses and lots of other selections. We would go frequently and I would always order it.This last time we went it was the same price as it had been for a plate that consisted of one cheese, a few crackers, a sparse amount of salami, a slice or two of prosciutto, some oats? and raisins, with Dijon mustard.Super disappointed in the noticeable drop in quality. Still a huge fan of their kombuchas and atmosphere - so I can’t exactly give them a low rating here - but hate to see something that really made them stand out to me so drastically change because Lenny boy was always 5 stars in my book!I would genuinely be willing to pay more for a higher quality selection and am leaving this here for the powers that be to consider :)“

“Visited in October 2014. This is a rather basic brewpub situated in the residential area south of downtown Charlotte. It’s quite spacious and well-lit, boasting a large patio with a food truck conveniently parked out front. Live music appeared to be scheduled, but our visit was too brief to enjoy it. Both the brews and service were satisfactory.“

“I visited Summit seltzer for a comedy show on Thursday night. I was invited by your friend. I've never come here before and I was super glad that they had parking, not just parking, but ample parking in their own parking lot. Upon arrival my friend and I stopped at the bar and we met Eric who is one of the Brewers. He has a very cool look and a personality that compliments his look. Drinks were amazing as well as the seltzer. I had two drinks and one seltzer. I was glad that neither the seltzer or the drinks were too sweet. The name of the business is now #Bevery! The local comedians were funny, and I had quite a nice time and received some interesting prizes. I want to come back over the weekend to experience the business.“

I always enjoy myself when I do visit the first time I sat in the small bar area and enjoyed my drink and conversation with my friend the second time I was there for an event, and was in the larger room, I had a cider which was really good and reasonably priced. “Temple is a fantastic spot to go out for drinks on the weekends or after work with pals. The location is a bar; they do not provide food but there are several restaurants in the neighborhood, and you are more than welcome to bring own food inside the establishment. This is a concept I am truly starting to take a liking too - especially with food trucks. If you want to have a drink and watch sports or vibe out to R&B music, definitely check The Temple Charlotte out.“

Suffolk Punch Brewing South End Brewery • $$

“Great spot for some good food and good drinks on this side of town. Their beers are superb , they also have some wine and enough liquors to make a majority of simple cocktails. Food was on point. I had the fish and chips and I’m not going to lie, that was some of the best I’ve ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly, the batter for the fish was seasoned perfectly, fries on point, and the slaw had jalapeños in it which was a nice twist. They have a huge outdoor area so I can see this place getting packed on warm nights. If you drive there I can see parking being an issue if it’s going to be busy, but we were visiting - I’m sure the locals know the parking secrets. Next time we’re in CLT this will definitely be a destination!“

“Wonderful service. This restaurant isn’t my type and i ended up not liking what I originally ordered(not because something was wrong with it, i just didn’t like it) and regardless of that the waiters and manager still made sure I ordered something else that I’d enjoy. It’s hard for me to know what to order here since it’s not my style. The order i replaced it with was delicious. The bison burger is the bomb. There doesn’t seem to be a niche with the menu though and that was another thing i struggled with. The options to me were quite random, but that’s another reason i had a hard time knowing what to order. My only feedback is to niche the menu so it makes more sense and speaks to a specific target audience. For example, I didn’t understand why there was one random Indian dish when the rest of the entrees aren’t Indian or Asian dishes.“

Suffolk Punch Brewing - SouthPark Brewery •

“Great first visit to SPB! We had the American burger, the kids chicken tenders/fries and kids grilled cheese with fries. The burger was "fine". The side salad was great quality but was mostly apples and little kale....maybe it's mixed up in a big batch and when they scooped out a serving, it just so happened to get all the apples? the hand battered tenders and the grilled cheese on the sourdough roll were fantastic BUT THE FRIES!!! They were the star of the night!! YUM! We had a couple mixed drinks that were made just how we liked them. I couldn't believe how quickly the drinks came out. It was impressive. My husband will skip the burger next time and try the Reuben instead. We can't wait to come back! It was a little tricky to find. It's between Dick's and The Container store“

Heist Brewery Brewery • $$

“My wife and I came here for an improv comedy show - much fun! - and I was stoked to finally get to try the food here. I’ve had their beer many times and my first IPA was theirs, but never really hung out to catch the vibe or eat.We started with the beer cheese pretzels and the beer cheese was easily the best beer cheese I’ve ever tasted. It was a combination of a bunch of cheeses and was perfectly gooey and tasty. It had a nice crust on it from the broiler and I promise you there wasn’t any left when we finished.I then had the Korean Smoked Pork Belly Tacos and they were fire! Damn! Out of this world good. The coleslaw meshed so well with the pork belly and kimchi sauce. It was tangy and smooth and just delicious. I wanted to eat some more.My wife didn’t eat but she did enjoy a couple of cans of cider. Not theirs but from a brewery in Raleigh. Orange You a Hippie was the name of it (semi-dry, orange peel and hibiscus). I took a sip and it was quite tasty.I had two glasses of their Pick’n Series sour (cranberry, pomegranate, and lime), one glass of their Friendly Competition (nice German-style lager), and a glass of their Coast to Coast Itinerary (West Coast IPA) and all were delicious. We sat outside on the patio after the show and enjoyed the warm spring evening. I’ve always enjoyed their beers, and now that I’ve tasted their food, they have solidified their spot as my fav brewery in the QC“
