“Absolutely delicious Oaxacan food. I've always wanted to visit Oaxaca and this place definitely gave us a taste of what it will be like. The restaurant is small with a few tables but it wasn't crowded when we went for lunch on a holiday Monday. My boyfriend and I shared the mole poblano, mole oaxaqueño, and molcajete. The mole dishes came with rice, beans, and warm tortilla and I also got a small horchata. Everything came out piping hot and fresh, bursting with flavor with every bite. Nothing was too spicy but if you like sweeter things, I would highly recommend the mole poblano.“

“I've been to Tobalá a couple of times since they opened, and their food, drinks, and service have always been great. But last night, they were absolutely stunning. I tried a few dishes (Memelas de Wagyu and Enmoladas de Pato) for the first time, and I was in shock, super delicious!! I want to congratulate their staff and owners for their constant effort to elevate the experience at Tobalá and improve every day, bringing this beautiful concept to the community. Definitely my favorite restaurant in the area.“
“when you enter the interior is kind of odd with one table inside along with a few window seats (two tables outside) but don’t let that turn you away. the food was fresh & tasty.I ordered the Chilaquiles & the grilled chicken caesar wrap. the Chilaquiles had a wonderful green sauce & lots of yummy cheese. the caesar wrap was jam packed with fresh crunchy lettuce, avocado, caesar dressing, & grilled chicken.(side note, the fries were delicious too! thin, crispy, & seasoned well!)it’s a small business folks…food takes time. this isn’t fast food mediocrity!the service was great & attentive. it’s a solid choice! “Great addition to the list of authentic Mexican restaurants in 138th street. The food and service are stellar at the upscale Hacienda Agave. We started out with appetizers- tortas with chicharrón, ceviche, tlacoyo, tuna tostadas and esquisites. It was all delicious. Next up were quesadilla de Carnitas: soo good! The mole de pollo which was phenomenal and every dish tasted better than the next. The Chamorra was my favorite- lamb shank in a rich stew, we also had the Branzino- which came beautifully wrapped in corn husk, it was moist and had a very delicate scent of herbs. For dessert: the churros were crispy and soft with dulce de leche. The tres leches was perfect and not too sweet and the flan was velvety and rich. The cocktails are varied and there are choices for all tastes. I started off with a non alcohol drink- cucumber and ginger- the bar was so accommodating and made our dinner party horchata martinis and a non alcoholic horchata martini! Highly Recommend !“
“This place was a first try for me, the atmosphere was down to earth and the employees handled my order with a smile. And they even have Mexican soda. The food was amazing and my most favorite dish was the steak birria tacos. It was PHENOMENAL.Vegetarian options: There are veggie tacos and they also have a veggie taco salad.Kid-friendliness: There are mini sized tacos for kids and other things that come small sizes. But I must say I’d wish the ratio of bread to meat. I would of preferred a bit more meat…but there is an option for that. Bathroom was decent.. overall the night was ended beautifully with a live performance from some local artist who was singing karaoke which was also beautiful. Yeah I was mostly paying attention to my late dinner but anyway. It was goood. It’s all good. The staff were good. In my pictures its the $12 Beef Stew Plate featuring yellow rice, beef stew in gravy sauce w/ potatoes and a cup on the side with red beans. “This restaurant used to be located more further down on westchester ave. It was called Monte de oro (gold mountain). I used to go there when I was a kid to a teenager. Then, it closed down. Thank god it relocated more up westchester ave. Under the name of el pabellon de oro (the flag of gold) It still had the same waiters & owner so I knew the food would be the same(delicious). It is a Chinese Spanish fusion. My go to dish is the steak w/ shrimp fried rice & plantano maduros(sweet plantains). Staff is ok. I like that the inside has a fish tank. It also has a lobster tank where you pick your own lobster. They had this in the old restaurant. The environment is just ok. I really came for the delicious food!!!“

“This business is a food truck located on Westchester Avenue under the uptown 2 and 5 train station at Simpson Street. I’ve passed this location several times and the food always smell memorizing. There is also usually a lot of people ordering or waiting to receive their food which was a good sign the food was probably good. I finally decided to stop to get some food. I ordered chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I wasn’t a fan of the chicken tacos, I think it maybe because of the cheese that was on the tacos. I removed the cheese and the tacos still wasn’t too great. I then tried the chicken quesadilla which was surprisingly delicious. I was worried it was going to be a flop like the tacos but it actually surprised me. The business does except cash and/or card. If you use card the minimum purchase is $10.00. I will be back for more.“
“My daughter and I were at the Montefiore Children's Hospital where my 2 year old grandson was hospitalized for pneumonia. We were exhausted and hungry in the evening and ordered two taco salads for take out that were delivered to the hospital. We are both vegetarian. We really enjoyed the salad. “I gave this place 5 stars for the food and the service. The atmosphere is nothing special. It's a little place with a counter you walk in and there are a couple tables. It was very clean. There is no customer bathroom.My friend and I both had tacos. I had the tongue and the goat. He had I believe he had steak? They were delicious. It took a little while because they made everything to order but it was worth the wait. I used to live in Los Angeles so I have eaten a lot of great Mexican food and this was great. Only downside is how small it is. It's mostly a strictly to-go small restaurant with enough room for 3 to 4 people at a time inside. “If you're looking for an authentic Mexican food experience in the Kingsbridge Rd section of the Bronx, this is a good place to go!! The food was good, I tried a Birria Burrito for the first time, and I will say that it lacked ingredients. It had way more Birria meat than anything else... The meat had flavor and was very juicy, but I definitely needed more stuff in the Burrito. I also had their chicken nachos, which were amazing!! They have a large selection of items on their menu, and they have seating but not many.. They are very small. But overall it was a great experience and I will return!!“
“We came in for breakfast as the restaurant was opening. The food and service were fantastic. We ordered the mole enchiladas, and the mole was delicious and rich, but not too sweet. We also ordered the pancita / menudo, which was some of the best I've had. The waitress was also incredibly nice. I splattered some menudo on my (old gym) shirt. She came over with a cup of soda water and a clean rag so I could try to salvage it. Will definitely come back.“

I ordered tortilla chips with the side of 3-cheese queso and let me tell you, the chips are literally so delicious and fresh, they’re not salty but have a hint of lime on them so they taste amazing and the bag of tortilla chips was big, the queso is so delicious as well with a small kick of spice. It does get pretty busy on the weekend so if you are in a rush come on a weekday instead! However if you are having a chill weekend definitely dine in and get a molcajete with the green sauce.
