“I heard about this place via Tiktok all the way over here in Seattle and decided we had to try it while in Rochester, NY.We went to tons of restaurants while over there but this was our hands down favorite. The place is tiny and designed for takeout so dont complain about it when you review about it! But man, the poke bowls, garbage plates, the sushi... so so good.5 stars.“
“Finally ordered takeout, just a few simple rolls (hamachi and a couple spicy ones) and some Nigiri (sake and hamachi). It was wonderful. Very fresh fish. Rice was a great temperature. I’m so grateful this place exists. I wish they were open for lunch.Parking: Small in the back“
“I have NEVER liked sushi. Ever. It's only been tolerable. I've tried to find the one thing that makes it yucky, but I've had no luck. It was never the fish, because I didn't like veggie rolls. It wasn't the seaweed because I didn't like rolls without that. Couldn't be avocado because I didn't like sushi without avocado either. I thought I was just doomed to be a person who didn't like basically the world's favorite food. However...I went here and tried a piece of "Sweet Potato Roll" and it was one of the best bites of food I've had in a long time. I kid you not I literally started tearing up because this was the first time I not only liked a piece of sushi, but LOVED it!! I ate an entire roll and a half myself. I even ordered a shrimp tempura roll (which had avocado AND seaweed) and loved that too! Most of the sushi moves around on a conveyer, and has little title cards to say what each thing is. You pick up the plate (which is covered so no other people's germs on it), when it gets to your table number, and a tiny camera on the conveyor scans a tiny QR code to charge it to your table. However, you aren't limited to just what is on the conveyor. There is also a little iPad at each table that you can order things "a la carte" from. Drinks are delivered by a little robot, and he winks at you when he leaves lol. Any non-revolving food items are sent to your table on a separate a la carte conveyor above the rest. One thing I will say, it is very easy to spend so much money, because you're ordering per item. However, my experience was great. I would 1500% go back. We (mostly I, because my friend had been there before) had so many great things. Steak teriyaki, pork gyoza, chicken tempura, the sweet potato rolls, chicken soba and chicken udon, and the dessert?? Like a fried pastry with red bean paste still warm and delicious served with ice cream. There was not a thing I didn't like. Only downside (not worth demoting a whole star) was that it's definitely not a good place for a large group. I would say no more than 4 people is what's comfortable, and they do not take reservations. However, I would highly, highly, highly recommend. There are a ton of veggie/vegan options for everyone. They have so much NON sushi, which is what I thought I was going to need, and is great for those who need it. BUT, this place definitely made me a sushi lover, and I WILL be going back!“
“Loved every minute of it. Cocktails (shark bait was my favorite) were next level and the seafood was fresh in everything we ordered. Tuna sashimi, oysters, warm sushi roll w king crab and lobster, the dover sole. We will be back very soon.“
“One of my top go to restaurants in Rochester. The staff are extremely nice and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend the spicy basil Thai noodles or the scallop hibachi. Their miso soup is the best I've ever had. If you're looking for a very down to earth Japanese/ Hibachi restaurant, Tokyo is the place to be.One thing I do wish is that they cook the hibachi in front of you instead of in the kitchen. The restaurant is definitely too small to have even one table to do that. However, it's well worth the price and the flavor to go here without the experience.“
“Food was amazing. Servers were wonderful, attentive, and kind. Overall I hope great things for this restaurant.Ordering experience was confusing at first for me, but that's bc I'm not into QR code menus. There is a distinction for the AYCE menu and takeout. I just didn't understand the distinction in the ordering app at first. That's mostly user error on my part. Will return.“
“I love sushi, and this is my absolute favorite place in Rochester to get it. The location is in such a cute little area, the restaurant is a whole vibe and the food and drinks are second to none. If you’ve not tried Poké, do it! Also, their poké bowl is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Go get one!“
“As always, Shema is delish, with lots of options. The Shrek is a marvelously balanced treat. Yummy yummy was also very nice, with a bit more heat. We always enjoy the basic tempura shrimp crunch. Our only disappointment was the lunch hour was to go only. Home is 20 minutes away, so we balanced in our laps in the car so we could enjoy it hot. Everything was packaged well. The online order process was simple once we arrived and learned it was to go only. We saw others leave upon seeing the sign. Would be nice to have the option of online ordering but eat the "take out" at their tables. Saving them from having servers but allowing us to enjoy it there.“
“Best customer service ever! My husband and I were delivering a load close to Tai Chi Bubble Tea, so I made him drive his truck to this place, and it was well worth it! The girls were so lovely and patient. I wanted to try something different, and she recommended the brown sugar flavor, but I didn't like the bubble. She was so nice; she allowed me to try a different bubble, and then she remade my drink with that bubble. We were delivering from NJ, and that’s not the type of customer service you get in NJ. I was grateful for their outstanding customer service.“
“I was pleasantly surprised by this cute little food court setting! My vegetable ramen was SO good with fresh ingredients. I also love how the broth is kept separate from the noodles & veggies; you empty the little steam basket into the broth when ready! The portions were huge, so I had it for lunch the next day. Usually, noodles are weird and soggy after sitting in broth, but these were perfect! Towards the end of my meal, I was replacing the lid on my ramen when the friendly staff member came over to offer me a to-go bag for my container! I highly recommend visiting.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian noodle soup!Parking: Huge parking lots with additional free parkingKid-friendliness: Safe environment“
“They don't have ramen on their menu anymore :( They said it had been removed about 2-3 weeks ago. I came for valentines day and was excited about the ramen so I was pretty disappointed. The sushi and service was still very good though, but there isn't a huge selection of sushi.“
“Ambience was great. Enjoyed the wood fireplace, the seating was cozy and the service, thanks to our server Laura, was absolutely subperb!!! Our entrees were good, but portions were small for the money spent. Wines were of excellent quality and dessert was very good. The menu was limited, but seemed to have one choice of each category. Overall, we would like to return, but will watch for an improved menu for red meats, as we don't eat sushi. We were celebrating an anniversary and enjoyed the ambiance.“
“Gyoza were pretty tasty, not the best we tried though. The rolls we tried were okay, but far from best. California roll doesn’t even resemble Californian California. Doesn’t look like one, doesn’t taste like one and doesn’t smell like one. Somewhat dry and strange. In comparison with sushi spots in CA this one loses on many fronts. The products are fresh, and sushi with smoked fish were quite original.“
“I love it here! The service is very quick it took my family 5 minutes for our order to be ready! Inside it is very beautiful! The food is delicious coming from a picky eater! Would 100% recommend to anyone! Once you get a hang of it ordering is super easy!“
“My favorite place to eat in Rochester! The server Tricia is extremely personable and kind, service is very quick. Very good signature rolls and teriyaki style dishes packed with flavor. While there are a few good Japanese places in Rochester this one’s my favorite.“
“My group has been having lunch here for several months. The service is very good, attentive, and courteous. We have always selected the "all you can eat" option. It is indeed all you can eat. We have limited our selection to rolls but shishemi is available. Everything is well presented. The place is small and possibly hard to find. Allow ample time because to food comes out at a leisurely pace.“
“Went here for the first time. The service was friendly. They have bento box and sushi lunch specials. I got the three rolls that came with your choice of soup or salad. The rolls were fresh and tasted very good. The atmosphere is very nice and would be perfect for a date night. I will be returning.“
“We went for hibachi as a party of 15 and it was a great experience. We had three children under three who were accommodated and amazed by the hibachi. They do offer a kids menu, high chairs, and LOTS of extra napkins! Haha great portions for the prices and tasted delicious.Kid-friendliness: Excellent!“
“It was a first time out to hibachi for a bday,I always hear so much about hibachi, however tbh although the food was good the entire experience was pretty underwhelming for a first time experience,I did appreciate the service of our waitress, and although the cook was nice and did his job,the experience did not leave me craving to return the way i see others post about wanting to go back to hibachi.“
“Service was wonderful and the atmosphere was casual. Both the gyoza and shumai are delicious fried pillows filled with pork mixture and shrimp mixture? Signature Rolls (raw) the King of the Ocean was our favorite and highly recommend!!! Signature Rolls (cooked) Honey Roll was our favorite and both the Snow White and Coconut were tied in second and highly recommend!!!? Thank you Youkoso Sushi?“
