“Layout/atmosphere*Three tablesFood/drink*Boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice - solid; sauce was sweet, little too much overall (amount on the meat); no bean sprouts but scrambled egg in fried rice (preferred that)*Egg drop soup - good*Egg roll - good“
“I LOVE Ishi so much... This was my favorite omakase experience in NYC! Brought my parents here for their anniversary and their first ever Omakase. The ambiance is lovely. The interior is warm, inviting and intimate. Staff is very welcoming. The food is AMAZING and high quality. Every single piece was delicious and we were so impressed. I will definitely be back. There are so many great omakase places in NYC but this was the first that made me want to revisit even without a special occasion to celebrate.Thank you to the team at Ishi for such a wonderful experience!“
“I think this place is great. Especially for a date night too. The Temaki they serve is great for a 2 bite situation, making it really easy to share between 2… if that’s your thing. To be honest, coming here and getting the classic & signature is just as $ as getting delivery sushi, maybe a bit more expensive but it’s worth it. High quality ingredients & thought out flavors.Personal favorite temaki is the XO scallop. The whole entire restaurant is gluten free by the way, so that might win a lot of people over. The interior & vibe is definitely for a certain demographic and will become aged out within maybe a year or two. The interior is on the same note of that Tend instagram dentist place, and that’s not a compliment. The music they play reminds me of what they would play at like a retail store.Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is gluten free & can help gluten intolerance with their meal.“
“Hidden Pearl is a true Brooklyn oasis. With tropical Japanese vibes, records on the turntable, and a top-notch staff, there's not a better date spot in Greenpoint—especially when the sun is still streaming in through the skylight! The cocktails are vibrant and refreshing, packing a flavorful punch I have been craving this summer. Highly recommend!“
“I just cannot get over how good the katsu is. The chicken katsu curry has to be my favorite in the city by far and has been since they opened. It's hard for me to find time to go here, but it's such a genuinely rewarding meal, and i'm happy to sacrifice the place being open daily for the love and time that seems to go into everything there, from the in-house food to the curation of snacks and drinks. The portion is absolutely enormous, bigger than any ive had anywhere here or abroad, and the quality is astonishing. It's just so good.Cool shirts too :)“
“Our meal at IWAK was good enough to call it a Williamsburg gem after one try. Great rolls, pork buns, and sake. The service and atmosphere felt more reminiscent of Japan than a number of other sushi spots.Excited to have a new sushi favorite nearby!“
“This is true Japan. Real Japan. A modest restaurant of the highest quality. A small space on a side street. This is authentic Japan. There are two tables and a counter - 12 seats total. The chefs are right there. The server too, all are soft spoken and focused on their craft. The food is... The food is... The food is so good. So, so good. The sashimi melted, balanced with the spicy thing. The mazeman incredible, full of umami and flavor. The ramen healed my soul :)Do me a favor if you go... Eat, enjoy and leave. Be efficient... Be respectful. Be Japanese. It's a small space, they're too nice to move you along, but c'mon, allow them to serve more people and make more money“
“Absolutely my favorite place for sushi. When you order the omakase you aren't just served different cuts of fish you may be familiar with like bluefin tuna but rather get a series of carefully crafted pieces combining flavors you'd never expect. Whenever friends visit New York, I always suggest Sushi “
“I was intrigued by the concept of this restaurant and I am so glad I tried it out. They hit it out the park with home run flavors and tastes. It’s a tiny little place in Williamsburg that’s worth visiting. Every dish was delicious. Their Spring Jew Egg, the Okonomiyaki, Grilled Caesar Salad and the Sake Kasu Challah were amazing starters that we shared. The Matzoh Ball Ramen was flavorful and perfect with their soy marinated egg. Yummy!! For dessert we had their banana bread pudding and their Japanese Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Just so good!!! Staff was amazingly good!! I highly recommend Shalom Japan!!“
“Sushi chef was heavy on the fish. Staff were adorably kind. Place is small and neat. Most decent sushi place in the entire neighborhood.I got the salmon dinner and an uni sushi. It comes with a side of either miso soup or salad. I could not finish it and had a cute little to go box for my leftovers.Price is a bit steep since I chose a moderately expensive dish plus the uni which was market price. There are more affordable options on their menu.“
“My favorite ramen joint in New York! Go here on a jazz night if you can, because the ambience with the artists is even more incredible. This is my 3rd time here, and while everything is great, I’d specifically recommend: spicy ramen, spicy tsukemen, oysters mp, and mango kakigori. Between the freshly made noodles and flavorful broths, all of the noodle dishes are the perfect cozy meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the oysters, which came with a yuzu mint vinaigrette that added a bright vibrancy to each oyster. Don’t shy away from getting dessert the end! The shaved ice is a great way to end on a refreshing note without feeling bogged down by sugar. Note that this place fills up quick, so reserve in advance or come early to beat the wait. Follow me on ig @chloenicholle for more nyc food reviews!“
“Cocktail is great and I recommend the ones with matcha. Seafood is fresh and well done with the combination and flavor. However their hot dishes are ok, such as the tempura rice, grilled soft crab. Wish their hot dishes are as good as other ones!“
“Good omakase place. Shari preparation is above average, good amount of rice, good temp, good tightness and vinegar combinations. Very few choices of hikarimono here, and Aji was just ok. Since I am a pure edomae enthusiast, an offering of Wagyu sushi (an extra price, of course i did not order bz it is not a pure edomae tradition) was disappointment to me since smoke smelling of wagyu beef spread all over the sushi bar. Services were excellent and a very nice, spacious atmosphere inside. I may try this place again for the second time. Overall reasonable to good omakase sushi.“
“An absolutely wonderful dining experience. The ambiance was nice - minimalist Japanese decor, wood tones, and music that you didn't have to scream over. The food was excellent and not too pricey. I went with a group and we ordered a bottle of sake which came to us in a large ice dispenser for the table which was a surprise and delight (not to mention we got to pick out unique sake cups for ourselves). The wait staff was friendly and informative. Will definitely be returning“
“Giving it a 4 stars because the effort and intent was there, but the Miso ramen was unfortunately too rich for my tastes and I couldn't finish the broth, although the wavy noodles were perfect, very Q. The Karaage was some of the best I've ever had - it came out quickly and straight out of the fryer and it was melting in my mouth. One waitress was working the whole restaurant and was doing a fantastic job. 5 star service for sure.“
“The experience at this sushi restaurant was truly exceptional! Sylvia, our waitress, played a crucial role in making it so. Not only was the sushi of the highest quality, but Sylvia's attentiveness and knowledge added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Her warm demeanor made us feel welcome and valued throughout the evening. A dining experience elevated by both exquisit food and outstanding service.“
“Cute coffee shop with great coffee, drinks, and snacks! The service is a tad slow, so it’s not the best place to grab the quickest coffee but if you have the time it’s worth the wait. Wish there were places to sit inside but when it’s nice out, chilling outside is great.“
“I did like this place. The interior has a cool, almost grungy feel to it which I loved. I will say the fish wasn’t as fresh as other sushi restaurants I have been to in New York and although the sushi was well made there were some dishes that felt like they had been rushed. The edamame for example tasted soft, microwaved. However, the price was so reasonable that I could forgive some of small criticisms. The whole experience was really enjoyable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.“
“Was in the area and stopped by randomly for some food. I meant to look at reviews first but forgot. Ordered, sat down and when my food came I was first really pleased with the presentation, then so happy with the taste. Really good sushi. I wish this place was in my neighborhood. Checked the reviews after the fact and I agree 100%, so had to add my own!“
“The food was very fresh delicious and served with wonderful presentation. All the raw sushi/sashimi tasted fresh. I liked that the bbq squid was tender and not tough like other places I've tried. My family came here to celebrate my brother's birthday and it was a nice, quiet place on a weekday night. Thank you for the complimentary butterfly sushi dish and dessert!“
“This place has a relaxing setting and good service. The food is exceptionally amazing. This has become one of my favorite places in the area to go eat now. If you're looking for a low key place for a night out with your partner or a place to take a date this is a good place to go.“
“My four stars are not meant to be a negative as to food quality or taste. One negative was the food that came out in a disjointed order. I don't remember the specifics. I just remember that I was puzzled. A second and more important negative is that the drinks are small yet expensive. I utilized the bakyard space to dine, and even on a cold night, it was comfortable. The host and server were pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely eat there again, without question, but not buy any drinks ?. Enjoy!“
“We come here almost once a week and never thought there was such a good restaurant in this area. The ingredients are very fresh, the waitress is very friendly and considerate, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice, perfect for party. I believe we will visit them often.“
“The staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming. This was my first experience doing Japanese Style BBQ where a server helps prepare the meat for you, and they made the experience very special. Both the server and the chef, who was preparing the cuts of meat for us in an open style serving area, would introduce the cut and the kind of sauce or condiment it goes well with, while giving enough time for us to chat and eat before coming back with the next round of cuts. Overall the service, cuts of meat, quality, atmosphere, and service were excellent and I can’t wait to go back again!“
“Really enjoyed this place, felt like a proper Izakaya in parts (there's a cool bar seating bit round the back for 5-6 people) - huge sharing table too. Food is excellent, and I thought really fairly priced, great beer too - highly recommend!“
“We went here for my wife's birthday lunch and it was impressive. Firstly, it's hard to find restaurants that are stroller friendly in the city, but this place might be the most stroller friendly one in Park Slope. The tables were far apart and could easily accommodate our Vista stroller which isn't a small stroller. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was as good as I remember but the real standout was their lunch special. Unbelievable value of 10 exceptional pieces with the Toro and Salmon with dill sauce being my favorites. The staff here are so nice as always. I look forward to coming back here.Kid-friendliness: The most stroller and wheelchair friendly restaurant I've been to in Park Slope. There's a lot of space between the tables and more than enough space to accommodate everyone's needs.“
“Today I ordered from here for the first time, trying a new sushi spot in my area. I have to say, amazin and fresh. I will definitely be ordering from here again. The service was also great. They forgot to put soy sauce in my order, simple mistake and they sent it over ASAP.I thank them for that. Recommended for great food and service!“
“This place gets A+ in every way. Service, wait staff, decor, food. Not even the slightest negative word. My first time here, I was blown away. The food is beyond amazing. Every morsel. Each dish has its own unique taste & experience. LOVE“
“The bartender was attentive, kind, chill, knowledgeable. Drinks were great. I came after my session of hot yoga next door. Instead of being responsible and going to the grocery store, I decided I needed a cocktail. The music was great, the other patrons were also very low key and chill. I had their HH martini in gin and then in vodka. Great deal and served with a pickled shallot (nostalgic for me and a fave).“
“The Thai chicken wraps are a burst of flavor, in crisp lettuce cups with a delicious minced meat filling. Their yellowtail jalapeño is refreshing and bright. Special thanks to Linda's attentive service and for creating a great experience. MoCa is a top neighborhood choice for those seeking a treat!“
“I order pickup here almost exclusively when craving sushi and it's definitely the best in the area. That said, some things on the menu just shouldn't be on there at all. If you're going for the first time the standouts are spicy girl roll, rockstar roll, firecracker shrimp app, and any of the classic sushi rolls.“
“Really amazing happy hour! I got the edamame which was so savory and delicious and the karaage chicken. The chicken was pretty spicy so I wouldn’t recommend if you are sensitive to spicy food. The restaurant is rather small but we didn’t have problems getting a table on a Wednesday night. The servers were very attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full.“
“This Sushi Tokyo is incredible, I have had the pleasure of getting to know every single employee who works here, and every single one is exceptionally welcoming, and offere amazing service, I hope you try this location, and I hope you give a special shout out to Rotem, who works hard every day to make this restaurant special every single day!“
“Beautiful atmosphere to set the tone for a great high quality meal! I had the Fire and Ice Special roll, and it was very good! I also had a tuna hand roll and it was easy to tell the tuna was very fresh. I also recommend getting dessert. The lava cake and stick rice pudding was very good.“
“Really thankful to have this spot within delivery distance of me! Their miso soup has a rich flavor and they have a 2-4-1 special which means I have leftovers for the next day. Their steamed pork buns are small but tasty. Their sushi rolls have been fresh every time!“
“Ki Sushi is my 'Go-To' place for lunch after a long yet productive, remote work day. Recently, after placing a takeout order, there was a mixup with my order.I called and spoke to a manager, and after a moment or two, he offered to make good on the mixup during my next visit.I returned the next day, and the staff were most gracious and apologized for the mixup and made good with their promise.“
“I was on a job nearby and was set on getting halal food. I saw this food truck and decided to give it to a try. This is honestly one of the best food trucks I’ve ever tried in NYC. I will never eat general tsos chicken from another Chinese food place again. He also hooked it up with extra chicken. Excellent customer service“
“Huge lounge area to hang out and work or just chat. So airy. Pool tables, photobooth a great plus!! Only got iced americano and requested a lil milk on the side and It’s my first time here and the barista guy is not very nice so i didn’t order food but i love the space, so artsy. Enjoyed my hop here still. ?“
“The staff was so respectful and nice they came up to you as soon as you walked up to the register? the bubble tea tasted so heavenly especially the vanilla flavor and the french fries was so good i expected it to be small but it was a WHOLE meal to eat and for a very cheap price too. Will definitely be coming back here soon ヽ(^o^)丿“
“Great deals for lunch specials. My favorite sushi and teriyaki dishes. They’ve had fresh ingredients every time I’ve eaten there. Yummy fried ice cream. The people working there are all nice and attentive over the phone and in person. My favorite sushi spot in the area, I even travel to eat there whenever I’m remotely “
“Stopped at Mira Sushi on the way to JFK. Atmosphere was great, very welcoming the second you enter, no wait. Menu is extensive, lots of delicious options for food and drink at reasonable prices. Food was absolutely delicious, everything was fresh and tasty. Service was great too. There was never a time where we were waiting to be helped. Employees are very friendly. 10/10 would recommend.“
“This is our fancy place. The waiters are very attentive and courteous. Food is always tasty and fresh. A consistent pleasant experience.Vegetarian options: Gyoza, salads are good with avocado,Edamame, seaweed salad & veggie hibachi,Vegetarian rolls as well“
“This place is super busy, likely due to the budget friendly pricing. Food quality is pretty good. Wish the orders can come out earlier. Called well in advance, but order was not ready. Definitely worth a try. This place is takeout only. Street parking is tough so get a companion.“
“Best kosher sushi I've ever had!!! Got to try the omakase here, it's amazing, the chefs make you really delicious pieces definitely a top notch sushi spot! Also got to try the all you can eat bluefin tuna event, it blew me away. Chefs made different kinds of sushi pieces, salads, tartare, rolls, and much more. Recommend to everyone. Kenny is my favorite chef, most classy chef I had so far!“
“Never thought I would say this but the usually-flavorless filet mignon was actually to die for. Some of the best steak I’ve had, and we haven’t even gotten their wagyu. The price range for steaks is very wide here — you can go as low as $50 and as high as $300+Special shoutout to wagyu+uni hand roll that’s like a mini orgasm in your mouth and fantastic selection of cocktails to accompany all this meaty goodness.“
“Great vibe, great food. Sat at the bar. Asked for a dry sake and kinda got a sweet one instead. Not horrible but not great. Food was delicious though! Esp the tuna and the salad. Fried chicken thighs were also good but could have been crispier. Service at the bar was a little slow. Would still recommend for a nice dinner “
“Okay I seriously don’t know how this place gets so many $10-20 reviews. Don’t get me wrong it is more than worth going to try and has a great atmosphere and staff as well as food. But I can eat more than 6 pieces of sushi. Come on now. I went here with my aunt and uncle. Some things are more than others and we did sample a good amount but still what I classify as a satisfying full meal.“
“Came in tonight looking for a sushi place that was open on the later side and came across Izakaya Sushi & Lounge. We were seated immediately with a decent amount of people in the restaurant. The restaurant from the outside looks like a hole in the wall but on the inside was quite modern looking and chic which was a pleasant surprise. The music also had a bunch of chill covers of pop songs, which personally I enjoyed We ordered the Izakaya pizza for appetizer and then a bunch of different rolls. The pizza admittedly took a little longer than we expected but then again we were starving, and it was definitely worth the wait with a bunch of color, flavor, and textures between the fish, sauce, and fried pancake. The rolls were equally as good with the fish tasting quite fresh, flavors complementing each other well, and good size. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, constantly refilling our tea and water without asking even before the cups were empty. Overall, great experience and will definitely try to come back with the rest of the family. P.S. the bathrooms were very sick. Clean, kept the same atmosphere as the restaurant, and had cool amenities like the mouthwash dispenser (with paper cups of course)“
“The service is great, the food is delicious and the presentation is even better! I ordered their lunch chicken teriyaki Benton box . A plate like this would cost $35 plus dollars in Manhattan but in Jamaica NY it was less than $20.The picture doesn’t include the Thai tea I ordered and the salad that comes with the bento box.The place is clean and the food presentation is exceptional.“
“Went to Osaka Japanese restaurant and had an excellent meal with the family. The service was quick efficient and friendly ,place was not too crowded. It is quite small so I wouldn't necessarily recommend groups of more than four people, but definitely a nice place for families and friends to enjoy a good meal. We had the chicken katsu deluxe entree & The Don beef bowl with rice. Both were cooked fresh to order and very tasty. We kept our drinks to tea and sodas, for a group of 4 the meal was reasonably priced. The overall atmosphere $$ ,was mild and calm. A good place for a good meal.“
